My family and I came in already having a 3-gallon tank with a Betta fish, but we were looking to upgrade to a larger setup so we could add some dwarf frogs. Valerie was incredibly sweet and immediately took us under her wing. She didn't just point at a shelf; she provided a masterclass in fish care. She was so knowledgeable about the entire ecosystem--recommending the perfect snails, explaining the specific sand and soil needed, and showing us exactly which aquatic plants provide the best oxygen for the frogs and fish. Honestly, her expertise was so deep that I actually asked if she had gone to school for this! She made my entire family feel so comfortable and confident in our new hobby. It is rare to find someone in retail who is this passionate and educated. I truly hope management reads this and realizes what an asset they have. Our concern was possible picking up fleas and ticks at the camp site due to his long hair. We needed a short hair cut for our dog. They have treat samples which my very picky Shih Tzu (Ginger) actually ate??? (CRAZY!) This is also one of the few foods she could tolerate. With Farmer's dog she developed yellow sticky bowels because of the amount of fat in their diets, and she has a hard time with kibble because of her teeth, we did freeze dried but heard that raw isn't the way to go because of potential contaminants, but she always had firm brown bowels and no problems with this brand (at least so far)! Not to mention she had more choices here which we were really happy about. I told Amy about her allergies and she made us a booklet, noted Ginger's allergies (unfortunately there was 4), and marked all the diets that did not have any of the ingredients she was allergic to! She definitely knows the diets well and her recommendations were top tier (no itching) Not to mention the other owners who came by--I managed to ask one other owner who came with her wonderful adopted terrier mix who has been eating JFFD for a year, and she said that her dog was also very sensitive with food and found JFFD to be the only one to work for him. Although he is definitely less picky, she said his skin is definitely a lot healthier and I could also tell since her dog's hair was so soft and there were no tear stains--it was great. So far Ginger loves it too! Especially the brisket and pork treats... it just had to be the expensive ones . But I'm just glad she hasn't been doing her picky hunger strikes because she literally would bile vomit just to prove a point--that's gone for now, and there are a lot of other options too so we are not too concerned if she does decide that she's bored of one flavor. Thanks JFFD! My second visit this week also was great (didn't get to ask for a name but she was also wonderful) and answered all my questions about food appearance with the different batches sometimes it's more chopped or whatever but they said it doesn't alter the formula, and also that it's ok to heat it up for 10 seconds but nothing more to not burn off the vitamin mix they provide on the food.

Tanks are stunning (clean, sparkly, lively) with new and interesting fish. Their live plant stock has grown and improved as well with some pretty healthy choices. The guys who work here are friendly and knowledgeable. The owner, Chris, is usually there keeping things running smoothly and I learned in our lengthy conversation that the reason for the shop declining back then was due to a family member passing and hardship stemming from that. I am SO impressed at how he pulled through and was dedicated to bringing his business back to life. So the lesson is YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT SOMEONE IS GOING THROUGH. I was quick to judge but now I know that also, running an aquarium shop has so many components/vendors you're dealing with and it's not always going to be perfect. So have some grace. These guys care about the livestock and customers. They'll do their best to be fair and remedy a situation. I've bought some great fish and they have been THRIVING. They even let me adopt a little one eyed betta that no one wanted but now she's living her best life. If I had one gripe it would be not to keep male bettas in tiny little cups, that's just cruel... From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by both the owner, Augustine, and his daughter. The shop is family operated, local, spotlessly clean, smells great, and is filled with beautiful, healthy birds. While the birds are fantastic, Augustine is the real star of the show. We ended up having a long, wonderful conversation with him. You can instantly tell when someone is genuinely passionate about what they do, and Augustine goes above and beyond. He is incredibly knowledgeable and takes immaculate care of every single bird, from grooming to boarding. Coming here feels like visiting an amusement park because it is that exciting and welcoming. Even if you are just stopping by for basic supplies and not buying a bird, you are made to feel valued just for being there. She referred me to Angela aka WAGZ, who doesn't accept new clients, but made an exception based on the referral and squeezed me in a couple days later. There are play pens for each individual dog, no cages which is a bonus. I was quoted $150 for everything which wound up including: - bath w/ shampoo - dry - brush - nail trim - gland check - trim around the feet and sanitary area - shaving under the belly to get rid of matted fur (no haircut) I brought my dog in for a 12p appointment. Chatted for a few minutes about my dog. There were no questions about what I wanted, you basically just get what you get. She was finishing up another dog so my dog wasn't started til at least 1215/1220. I got a call before 1p that he was ready for pickup. I chose the wrong profession, I could be pulling in over $150/hr working with dogs! My dog was drowsy during the appt but there were no reports of any problems. By far the shortest grooming session I've ever had. I badly miss my groomer in Colorado who really treated my little guy like her own and came out looking AND smelling beautiful every single time.
