Cloudy overcast day

Multi purpose park in Ewa Beach, quiet park to go on a walk in the afternoon or take your children for play day. But the piers are showing their age, some are not completely safe to walk on. Parts of the wood broken off. Grass overgrowing in many areas. Some people were fishing on the piers. The water murky and doesn't seem like you could get fish from the waters. There were families having their photos taken here by professional photographer. The background is used frequently by many residents.

This is my favorite place to go for some quiet space away from the rest of the world. It's very peaceful and a fun place to fish and go crabbing. It's definitely catch and release (do not eat anything in this water!!) but always a fun way to spend the day. The boardwalks could use some maintenance with the loose screws and boards not nailed down.

If I'm not up for a long hike but still want to enjoy nature, my go-to spot is nearby. Most of the path is paved and there are plenty of ways to appreciate the area. Kapapapuhi Point is a great option if you take the left path from the parking lot. It will take you on a maintained 1/3 mile loop with lots of picnic tables multiple docks that gives stunning views of the water. You will encounter pretty plants like plumerias and bougainvilleas. The path on the right leads to the west loch shoreline on the edge of the west loch golf range. At about 3/4 of a mile long you will get to the Betty Nagamine Memorial Overlook, which offers a breathtaking view of the preservation. You may even spot some avian wildlife swimming in the waters and birds singing in the trees. There is a homeless man that lives here on one of the docks, but he seems harmless enough. But have spatial awareness and be careful as he does linger on the path. This park is popular among friendly locals who enjoy biking and walking their pets. To avoid the midday heat, it's best to visit in the early morning or late afternoon.

I live nearby so this park is my everyday walking path for fresh air and exercise. It's a scenic park with nice views, gazebos and docks. It's fairly safe, with people fishing, eating at picnics and regulars on their daily walks. Once in awhile you see a sketchy homeless person, but they don't make trouble. One star off because sometimes the putrid stench of polluted water and Pearl Harbor wafts throughout the park. The current caretaker seems to keep an eye out and takes care of the park. Along the bike path behind the golf course there is a wildlife refuge with a walking gazebo that is quite pretty. Just don't go alone, for there is a homeless camp out on one of the docks along the pathway. They don't bother anyone, but better safe than sorry.

One of the few blessings from the COVID lockdown. With nothing to do, I have the opportunity to explore the various parks on the island. This is an absolute hidden treasure. I more or less grew up in Ewa Beach and now work there, but never bother to explore some of the parks in the area. This park has ample parking, with meanders paths along the Westloch. The path goes south towards Ewa Beach and North towards Waipahu. Today, I went south and crossed multiple streams, protected wetland preserve and golf course. Will definitely come back to the explore the other paths.

Yes there is some sketchy people here and looks homeless? But they didn't bother us nor try to approach. They pretty much kept to one side of the park so just walk around them. Many small plank piers you can walk out to so go to an empty one and enjoy the view. Yes the water is dirty! No swimming, fishing, got it. Some parts are kind of smelly but it didn't really bother me since my allergies keep me pretty plugged up anyhow. Nice stroll, walk get your exercise then head home. I don't recommend staying long.

its alright- i wouldn't call it a gem- my dog was happy to see a new place- but it was nit memorable- restroom was clean though- piers are dilapidated- park was overgrown with weeds - its oknif you want to take a 20 minute walk to exercise-

Would have given a 5 star but the smell of the Pearl Harbor waters is to overwhelming even on a windy day like today. Stopped here for the 1st time to see the park and take a walk to the Pearl Harbor Wildlife Refuge a 15-20 min walk following the bike path Ewa Beach bound. As for the West Loch park nice place to take a morning or evening walk/stroll, walk the dogs or even bird watch. Lots of friendly people on their walk and in the park. Some people were fishing or just enjoying the view from the gazebos and docks. Btw don't fish here signs posted all around the park saying Do Not Fish. Good picnic areas. Bathroom is right off the parking lot. Plenty of parking.

Right off the parking lot.

This park is a pretty decent multi-purpose spot, tucked in behind West Loch Estates. For those of you who have never been to West Loch Estates, don't fret. These properties are on the older side and it looks like the ritz left this area some years ago. The park seems well-intended, but isn't the most manicured walk you'll find on the island. Many of the plants and flowers are neglected, and the park has seen its share of abuse. Even while I ran through there the other day, a few locals were banging the crap out of a tree for fun. Scenes like these are probably why no one has reviewed this park in all its years. There's also ample signage warning people about the contaminated water in the loch, and the signs also forbid fishing and all aquatic activity. Take a look out on a pier and you can see why. It's not exactly a thriving ecosystem here. Even with all the warnings, I saw at least a dozen Chinese fishing away from the piers. But this is a review about the park, not the lack of respect for the local ordinances. Even while they blatantly misuse the place, it's refreshing to see a local Halau rehearsing near the pavilion. It appears some people can indeed have nice things.

My boyfriend took me here for the first time. We had a nice walk with his son. We saw many schools of fish and even though there were signs saying to fishing....we saw many men doing just that. We also saw city workers mowing the park but I guess fishing is really not prohibited?? Oh well, we had a good time! Next time we're bringing the bikes!!

Love the Docks to capture a nice photo but the water is dirty.

The water is too dirty to swim with the kids and with all that sewage spills I wouldn't fish there either.

Ask the Community - West Loch Shoreline Park

What are the hours that the park is open, vandals have defaced the sign? 1/2026 can you folks kick out the homeless on the piers in the trees they have taken over half the park on the right side after the bike path. It seems dangerous!

Aloha Gilbert. The park, which is now known as Kapapapuhi Point Park, is closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. nightly . You can find all of our park closure hours online at: https://www.honolulu.gov/dpr/park-closure-hours/… Read more

Can you bring pets?

Yes, should be on a leash tho.

Are you aloud to fish there?

This is exactly what happened to me! As we turned the corner bend, "Whoaaaaa this park is spacious and the playground is colorful"! Need to say both me and my son was super excited to check it out! 1) This is Park has its own lot. No need to worry about Parking on the street like most. There are ample parking. 2) Restroom is not your typical Park Restroom! From the outside is a small building on the right side of the playground. The Women's Restroom is very clean inside with 2 stalls (1 small / 1 large) and the best part it has *Baby Changing Station*, *Seat Covers* & *Soap Dispenser*! If you need to bring your baby in a stroller, no need to worry about getting the wheels dirty and wet. 3) Can't say enough how the colors really brightens the mood and has my son excited to play! It's safe for ages 3+ and with a fun challenge in the middle to get their mind stimulated. 4) Here's a fun twist, on the left side there's a Fitness Equipment Area. It's super convenient to incorporate a quick workout while your keiki play at the playground (of course, if they're old enough to play without assistance). Either way, there's playing space for both parents and keiki! 5) If you're an Ohana with a Family Dog, there's also a fenced off Doggy Area to the far left! I haven't been inside, but from the outside it looks quite roomy for the doggies to run around. 6) Alongside with the great variety of choices, there's a large field of grass! Perfect space to have practices, large groups to workout, let the keiki run around loose, and even kite flying! As large as this park is, you may want to bring an umbrella or baby tent for shade as there's not really anywhere to relax other than a tree in the back or near the restrooms. Upside, there's 3 tables if you want to kau kau as well! Hoalauna Community Park hits all the aspects you'd want for everyone! Let me tell you, it's a "ONE STOP SHOP"!

What more can you ask for in a community park?…read more Hoalauna provides something for everyone in your family, no matter their age! Your fur babies, too! 2 dog parks, multiple exercise equipments, playground for your little ones, picnic tables for you parents and kupuna's, an entire 30+ space parking lot, CLEAN restrooms; need I say more? There is also a ginormous grassy area that can be great to let your little ones one freely without getting too close to the road. One downside to the park; there isn't much shade. Aside from the minimal tree shade, and the shade from the umbrella partially covering the playground, there's not much to work with. Fixable by bringing your own umbrella (: We love this park! Mahalo to the previous yelper who mentioned that they allow parties here (with a permit). I'll definitely be looking into that for future events!

Gentry Community Park sits a lone structure that houses an outdoor lap pool and party pavillions. Having a community center like this is a huge plus because here in Hawaii there is no such thing as a "small party." There are two pavilions available for rental: LARGE PAVILION: - maximum capacity is 88 people - that provides 16 tables and seating for 88 people - damage deposit check of $275.000 - rental fee with pool access for $375.00 - rental fee without pool access $275.00 - minimum time to rent pavilion is 5 hours - additional hourly rate if your event surpasses 5 hours is $55.00/hr - additional hourly rate for pool time if your event surpasses 5 hours is $25.00/hr - FULL KITCHEN AVAILABLE ON PREMISE SMALL PAVILION: - maximum capacity is 39 people - that provides 8 tables and 39 chairs - damage deposit check of $175.00 - rental fee with pool access for $275.00 - rental fee without pool access is $175.00 - minimum time to rent pavilion is 5 hours - additional hourly rate if your event surpasses 5 hours is $35.00/hr - additional hourly rate for pool time if your event surpasses 5 hours is $25.00 - NO KITCHEN AVAILABLE FOR SMALL PAVILION Also note there there NO LIFEGUARDS OR ATTENDANTS ON DUTY TO PROVIDE SUPERVISION. What I love about this place is that your guests can get as loud as they want because there is no immediate housing nearby that would complain of noise pollution. It's a great venue for parties that require more space than your home or perhaps something not the size of a banquet room at a hotel or country club. Perfect for the "small" local parties. There is tons of parking specific to this community center but also tons of available non-metered street parking. There is also a resident pool membership if your specific housing does not have a pool. The fee is an annual rate of $50.00 for head of household and $15.00 for each additional household member who is 7 years and older. There's a pool schedule that allots for open swims, swim clubs and lessons as well as overnight lap swims (it's an additional fee to have access to night swims). In my opinion, this is such a great asset to the growing Ewa plain community. The only downside is that this community center is that it's for all Ewa by Gentry (can't have just one if you're gonna build up the entire west side of Oahu). This is strictly a community center with no recreational equipment (like a gym or workout equipment).
