Fun place to catch and release, get pretty good action, plenty stuffs from tilapia, oio, barracuda, papio. I ride my bike down and fish for a few hours and ride home. Only real complaint is that there are always dozens of middle age haole dudes on their e-bikes ripping around the trails. read more

Pretty big park in the beginning of ewa beach. Lots of parking available but needs some up keeping with their landscape and docks. Their docks are quite old and it doesn't really seem too safe to be walking on them (i was literally afraid it would collapse with me on it, LOL). Otherwise its a great park for a nice stroll. Multi purpose park in Ewa Beach, quiet park to go on a walk in the afternoon or take your children for play day. But the piers are showing their age, some are not completely safe to walk on. Parts of the wood broken off. Grass overgrowing in many areas. Some people were fishing on the piers. The water murky and doesn't seem like you could get fish from the waters. There were families having their photos taken here by professional photographer. The background is used frequently by many residents. read more

West Loch Shoreline Park - Cloudy overcast day - Parks Near Me - Ewa Beach, Hawaii

This is my favorite place to go for some quiet space away from the rest of the world. It's very peaceful and a fun place to fish and go crabbing. It's definitely catch and release (do not eat anything in this water!!) but always a fun way to spend the day. The boardwalks could use some maintenance with the loose screws and boards not nailed down. read more

If I'm not up for a long hike but still want to enjoy nature, my go-to spot is nearby. Most of the path is paved and there are plenty of ways to appreciate the area. Kapapapuhi Point is a great option if you take the left path from the parking lot. It will take you on a maintained 1/3 mile loop with lots of picnic tables multiple docks that gives stunning views of the water. You will encounter pretty plants like plumerias and bougainvilleas. The path on the right leads to the west loch shoreline on the edge of the west loch golf range. At about 3/4 of a mile long you will get to the Betty Nagamine Memorial Overlook, which offers a breathtaking view of the preservation. You may even spot some avian wildlife swimming in the waters and birds singing in the trees. There is a homeless man that lives here on one of the docks, but he seems harmless enough. But have spatial awareness and be careful as he does linger on the path. This park is popular among friendly locals who enjoy biking and walking their pets. To avoid the midday heat, it's best to visit in the early morning or late afternoon. read more

I live nearby so this park is my everyday walking path for fresh air and exercise. It's a scenic park with nice views, gazebos and docks. It's fairly safe, with people fishing, eating at picnics and regulars on their daily walks. Once in awhile you see a sketchy homeless person, but they don't make trouble. One star off because sometimes the putrid stench of polluted water and Pearl Harbor wafts throughout the park. The current caretaker seems to keep an eye out and takes care of the park. Along the bike path behind the golf course there is a wildlife refuge with a walking gazebo that is quite pretty. Just don't go alone, for there is a homeless camp out on one of the docks along the pathway. They don't bother anyone, but better safe than sorry. read more

One of the few blessings from the COVID lockdown. With nothing to do, I have the opportunity to explore the various parks on the island. This is an absolute hidden treasure. I more or less grew up in Ewa Beach and now work there, but never bother to explore some of the parks in the area. This park has ample parking, with meanders paths along the Westloch. The path goes south towards Ewa Beach and North towards Waipahu. Today, I went south and crossed multiple streams, protected wetland preserve and golf course. Will definitely come back to the explore the other paths. read more

Yes there is some sketchy people here and looks homeless? But they didn't bother us nor try to approach. They pretty much kept to one side of the park so just walk around them. Many small plank piers you can walk out to so go to an empty one and enjoy the view. Yes the water is dirty! No swimming, fishing, got it. Some parts are kind of smelly but it didn't really bother me since my allergies keep me pretty plugged up anyhow. Nice stroll, walk get your exercise then head home. I don't recommend staying long. read more

Would have given a 5 star but the smell of the Pearl Harbor waters is to overwhelming even on a windy day like today. Stopped here for the 1st time to see the park and take a walk to the Pearl Harbor Wildlife Refuge a 15-20 min walk following the bike path Ewa Beach bound. As for the West Loch park nice place to take a morning or evening walk/stroll, walk the dogs or even bird watch. Lots of friendly people on their walk and in the park. Some people were fishing or just enjoying the view from the gazebos and docks. Btw don't fish here signs posted all around the park saying Do Not Fish. Good picnic areas. Bathroom is right off the parking lot. Plenty of parking. read more

West Loch Shoreline Park - Parks Near Me - Ewa Beach, Hawaii

This park is a pretty decent multi-purpose spot, tucked in behind West Loch Estates. For those of you who have never been to West Loch Estates, don't fret. These properties are on the older side and it looks like the ritz left this area some years ago. The park seems well-intended, but isn't the most manicured walk you'll find on the island. Many of the plants and flowers are neglected, and the park has seen its share of abuse. Even while I ran through there the other day, a few locals were banging the crap out of a tree for fun. Scenes like these are probably why no one has reviewed this park in all its years. There's also ample signage warning people about the contaminated water in the loch, and the signs also forbid fishing and all aquatic activity. Take a look out on a pier and you can see why. It's not exactly a thriving ecosystem here. Even with all the warnings, I saw at least a dozen Chinese fishing away from the piers. But this is a review about the park, not the lack of respect for the local ordinances. Even while they blatantly misuse the place, it's refreshing to see a local Halau rehearsing near the pavilion. It appears some people can indeed have nice things. read more

Very beautiful hangout/park as well as jogging/biking/fishing. We had come here to fish because my bf got tired of his same spots and yes this pond/bay/lake has all kinds of fishes. Being from Ewa, I knew this place had Tilapias, but not other kinds like Papio, O'io or Uluas lol. And even tho this place said "no eating" this bradda ( who's been fishing here since he was a kid) told us straight he's been eating what he catches from there and bringing it homw to his family.( so i wouldnt say contaminated) bradda looks healthy. we didn't catch any, but bradda man caught one nice size O'io to bring home. Very cool guy, talking to us friendly wven though it's our first time. Other than that, when we had gone a couple days ago on 08/29- there were plenty of dead Tilapias along the shoreline as well as a very bad stench of the ocean. Reading some reviews, i guess the smell is always there- but the bradda whos been coming since he was young, says he never saw all the dead tilapias like that before so it must've been from hurricane lane. I don't know for sure though lol. read more

My boyfriend took me here for the first time. We had a nice walk with his son. We saw many schools of fish and even though there were signs saying to fishing....we saw many men doing just that. We also saw city workers mowing the park but I guess fishing is really not prohibited?? Oh well, we had a good time! Next time we're bringing the bikes!! read more

My in-laws often come here for afternoon walks or to take our children bike riding. It's no Kapiolani park as Ewa is very hot and dry, and the park is not very well manicured. And yes, as others have written, there are some super sketchy people that hang out by the bathrooms. I've walked by the pier many times, and every time there's someone catching fish. I've always thought this was weird because there are signs which clearly say that consuming fish from this area can make you ill. Are we just catching them for fun? Or are we taking these three eyed mutant fish home to cook for dinner? My gut tells me the later is true. But regardless of its faults, my kids love riding their bikes and scooters on the concrete pathways at this neighborhood park. On a windy day this is a great place to fly a kite and lie on a blanket on the grass. And it's very hidden so you don't ever have problems with parking or fighting a crowd. But I personally would never come here after 6pm... read more

This park has been neglected over the years. The grass is usually over grown and dried. Fishing docks are falling apart and in need of repairs. Caution when walking in them as some areas have loose rotten wood. It is a nice place to walk. Gates to the park are lock at sundown and opens at sunrise. read more

Took a stroll here since I love adventures but this was a fail. I know sometimes people give a place a one-star review on purpose in order to deter people from going there but this one-star review is well deserved. When they said no swimming, no fishing, no etc. due to contamination, they weren't kidding. We went out on the pier and the water was so brown, it wasn't a pleasant color at all. A bit confusing since other pictures (not just here on Yelp but other social media websites as well) showed a less brown colored water but maybe I went on the wrong day? Certain parts of the paved walkways also had an unpleasant smell. I saw bits of bougainvilleas which I was excited about when I saw them from a distance but upon closer inspection, they weren't maintained. Overall, I wouldn't want to go back (at least not right now). I'll probably go back later in the year and maybe the water would be less brown and I'll update my review then. read more

Visiting this park was a first for me. Really captures the beauty around you. Though the water is dirty and with signs that clearly says that the fish will make you ill, I've seen people still go there to fish or catch some crabs (since I've seen a man set his nets for the day along the docks). Such a beautiful park worthy to take pictures of and to enjoy a stroll in with many paved pathways to do so, to have a picnic or have a family gathering, or just have the little ones play around. The docks are worthy for a photo or just to sit and ponder your thoughts for awhile. Despite the weather in Ewa, it's worth taking a look at and staying for awhile to enjoy the beauty of the park. read more

Quiet Lovely park to walk or jog along the West Loch. Especially in the early mornings. It is kept up and clean. Nice place for the keiki's to run & play. Rest rooms available. The signs say no fishing but folks still do. They fish & crab off of the four piers. Great fun but I wouldn't eat anything out of that water. Enjoyable walks tho with sidewalks thru out. read more

Definitely a good place to walk and see the shoreline and water, though some portions and facilities are run down and in need of repair, such as the walkways leading out onto the water. Noticed quite a few people fishing at the time. It's rather easy to get lost and not be able to find the entrance to the park at first, but it's hidden in a small neighborhood on the Leeward Side, near the H1 and Farrington Highway. read more

This park is hidden in between the homes of west loch estates, but easy to find and lot of parking. There are public bathroom stalls, I've never been in them so not so sure how clean. Make sure to bring your bikes, skates. there are a lot of open paved paths to enjoy. Some grassy places to chill. It's quite large and you can go to different areas, the Piers are fun to see if you can catch a fish or 2. If you continue on the bike path it can take you into ewa. read more

The first time I came here was to take my high school graduation pictures. When me and my photographer walked along the path, we started to smell very foul smells. We weren't sure if it was coming from the homeless people lingering around, or if someone didn't pick up their animals waste. Regardless, the pictures came out wonderful. As you get closer to the pier, the smell goes away. I'd recommend coming here in the afternoon because it won't be too hot. read more

You know the really cute photos people take on some docks in what looks like a lake in the middle of nowhere and probably doesn't even look like it's on Oahu, well that's here. It's located in West Loch of Ewa Beach first? second right that leads you a short pathway to a parking lot. Follow the walkway to the end and you'll start to see entry ways to the various many dock people like to fish at or simply chill, as what I did. It's a nice place for a picnic. That day was way too hot to even think about chilling under a tree. The walkways were long enough for someone to skate through, there was enough grass for people to lay comfortably and more than enough dirt that I'd like for someone on a mini quad to go through and create giant clouds of dirt. Only in Ewa? Sure. I feel this park used to be a lot more lively back in the day, now it's hidden from everyone else but the locals in Ewa/Waipahu. read more

The park is always open on time and closed around 7 PM. The caretaker is really nice and near closing he does his best to look for the owner of the vehicles, so they don't get locked in when the park is closed. The place is great for flying kites and there are trees with shade. The park has room for everyone and their guest. Sometimes people have birthday parties there too. No one bothers anyone. Do not play in the water since the signs are posted. Sometimes sharks can be see from the docks. The Coast Guard will come in boats if they feel you are a hazard to Security. read more

Sure it is an old park, built back when...well West Loch was built. I read reviews of this park and had to chime in. I come here just to change the exercise route scenery. Yes the paths are old and the grass has now become weeds. It is still a hidden gem of a park with a half mile loop and a 2 mile long circuit, longer if you head down across the few bridges toward West Loch Fairways. For a neighborhood park that is secluded and almost private...almost priceless! Ample parking, open space, the West Loch(the back of Pearl Harbor, with very little water movement, which is why the water looks putrid, but after rains, it turns that dirt brown.) and views north and east, paved pathways with 1/4 mile markers, piers, and safe. I agree that there could be improvement with the path quality, but with the financial condition of our government...the rail is more important....so, this one gem will have to wait. read more

Fantastic little park. Quiet, isolated, and docks to fish from. That's all I need to be satisfied. Bathrooms were clean. My only complaint is the early closing time so I can't fish longer. Nice spot!! read more
