We spent the weekend playing board games, watching a movie on the DVD player upstairs, hanging out in the hot tub on the front porch...we also enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets from the rockers on the front porch, talking to the cows and laughing when they talked back. There were eggs and sausage, and muffins, in the fridge, and cooking utensils and dishes were also provided. What a truly wonderful weekend enjoyed by all.

Met friends for dinner then we all headed back to the Inn to sit around the firepit in Adirondack chairs. Wine place on property will sell you the wine. There's an enclosed lounge room in one of the buildings where we went when the bugs got to be too much for the firepit group. Our Sloane Building room was just the right size and well appointed. Great night sleep. Breakfast the next morning was scrumptious- no cold cereal serve yourself buffet here. Just yummy!! Just cannot beat it for a restorative getaway from the city. My husband and I haven't been able to honeymoon since we got married in January so this was a…read moreperfect little minimoon/staycation/getaway for us! We stayed in Cabin #2 and really enjoyed it! Our pups were huge fans, too. We got to sit out in the hot tub and enjoy how nice and quiet it was and we loved checking out Bastrop since we had never been! The bed was comfortable and it had a great shower and running water! The only couple of things that we noted we wish were "better" was the lake itself was HOT! It's a cooling reservoir for the nearby power plant so we weren't able to actually enjoy the water and with a Texas summer cold water = best scenario. SO, would recommend lake activities in the fall/winter for that reason! And also, the doors are beautiful on the cabin but since we are in nature bugs will come inside. We turned on ambiance lighting the last night we were there and the bugs had a party. With the doors being slider doors they aren't flush to the wall and have much easier ways for the bugs to come inside, so be aware of that! Other than those couple pieces, we really loved it and had a wonderful time!

I just wish the hours were better: check-in is not until 4pm and out by 11am, it felt a bit rushed.

My favorite bed & breakfasts are ones that are a bit more secluded and away from main roads, and Tara Farms was just that. Brenham is such a cute and quaint little town, but is set perfectly between Houston and Austin, so it's not too far from home. They offer a delicious self-serve breakfast of muffins, fresh fruit, quiches, casseroles, breads, local coffee, and fresh juices. Oh yes, and the best peanut butter cookies I have ever had! Yum! Brenham has a ton of great b&b's but if you want to go somewhere private, comfortable and relaxing this is the place to go! The owners are so nice, but the place is so private you would never know they were there. All I have to say about this place are great things.... I could go on forever, but you should really just go check it out yourself!
