I enjoyed my stay & especially loved the complimentary loose leaf tea options & snacks, as well as the spacious stand alone bathtub and skylight domes above my bed & the shower -- see my pics! There was much more this entire property offered, but while there, this stay was for solitude and rest. I highly recommend The Reserve at Greenleaf for the wonderfully unique experience! The property is absolutely AMAZING and the cabins are above and beyond in every way possible. Each cabin is unique, but each has its own kitchen, refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, outdoor relaxation area, and all are within a 3-minute stroll of each other and the main residence. We stayed at the cabin called "The Barn" and could not possibly have asked for anything more. In addition, we walked the property visiting the beautiful gardens with event areas and gathering spaces. If you are looking for a quiet getaway or a place to host your wedding, reception, graduation party or just about any event where you want to be one with nature in a magnificent setting, Laughing Pines needs to be on your list. We attended a wedding in August and it was pretty hot outside because as a guest, you have to stay seated for a bit for the whole ceremony, but that is a seasonal thing. There was an outdoor patio appetizer set up area to mingle for a little bit, and then we moved indoors to be seated for dinner and the reception I thought the venue was perfect. The only big tip that I would have liked to have received before attending was to try to come with an SUV or four-wheel-drive because the incline to get up to the location is pretty steep!! It was a little scary and I wouldn't have liked to have been the one driving.

She was absolutely incredible and I cannot say enough good things about her. Everyone in the wedding party noticed how attentive and helpful she was. The venue itself is in a stunning location. The photos from the evening are just amazing against the beautiful backdrop. Everything was just beautiful, especially because we picked the all-inclusive package which really helped cut down on the extra things I needed to plan as a bride. All of their details were handled with easy to access and manage online forms. The ONLY reason I am not giving 5 stars is due to a very disappointing experience with the DJ provided by the venue. I am trying hard not to fault the venue for this, but it really was pretty heartbreaking for me as the bride. The DJ, a young man who had been with the company several years I was told, played the wrong song as I walked down the aisle. Instead of playing the instrumental version of one of me and my husband 's favorite songs, the DJ played our aisle exit song as I walked down the aisle. The song had words and was upbeat. Although a meaningful song to us as a couple, it was just not the bridal moment I had always dreamt about. It the moment, I just went with it because I didn't want to stop and go back, I just wan't sure what to do, but I really can't stop thinking about how that moment of walking down the aisle that I'e always dreamt of was taken from me by a DJ just not paying enough attention. To make matters just a bit worse, he then played that same song as we exited the ceremony space. I had a few guests mention to me how it was as "interesting choice in ceremony music" and I just had to explain that there had been a mistake. I felt really embarrassed and disappointed. In addition, even though I had hand selected the songs to play at the reception, the DJ somehow loaded up the wrong playlist and the first 4 or 5 songs weren;t ones I had picked. Oldies were played, which was fine I guess ... just not our kind of music. After alerting Anna to the fact that this was not our music the problem was rectified. After reaching out to Chris and Bethany about my frustration and sadness over this issue they were very apologetic and let me know that that DJ would no longer be working for their company. I feel a sense of relief for upcoming brides that will not have to feel the disappointment of having that one special moment ruined, but I also feel a sense of guilt for having that employee lose their position.

There were some things that needed to be fixed but it looked like they were in progress and after meeting one of the maintenance guys i'm sure he's on it. The only reason we're giving this a 4-star and not a 5 is because of a noise issue. Pretty much everything was fine but right after we checked in and got setup, construction workers pulled into the next space with their trailer and a couple work trucks. One was a typical work truck and the other was a larger truck with what looked like a crane/bucket on top. The guys themselves were not a problem but they'd leave very early in the morning and it was annoying to get woken up to the sound of diesel trucks firing up at 6am and idling for 15-20 minutes 20 feet from my bed. I guess contractors/construction workers staying there is a pretty regular thing. There is "overflow" parking over near the office and I think it would be nice if Hope Hill required work trucks to park over there out of courtesy for the other guests. I work hard and get up early every day. The last thing i want to do on my vacation is get woken up even earlier by loud trucks. Overall it was a good experience. If we ever find ourselves in that neck of the woods I'd stay here again. Maybe they'll have designated contractor/work truck parking by then

We streamed Netflix on our Roku, did a zoom call on my laptop, scrolled through Instagram on my best. Seriously, it never skipped a beat. The grounds are so peaceful and beautiful. The chairs aren't super comfortable, but we were dancing most of the time so it didn't bother me. Clayton, the owner, gave me tour & as I walked the farm I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with the smells & it wasn't manure!! The roses, herbs & other flowers, amazing how many times I stopped to; "literally smell the roses". As I toured what stood out was the meditation labyrinth, the drum circle room, the party barn & the tree houses. These folks have thought of everything! Have kids? Well they will love the animals, treehouses & swings. Love nature? You'll love the vegetable garden, flowers & thoughtful sitting areas. Are you a hippy? Then you'll love the meditation labyrinth, drum room or fire pit. Maybe your a big family or want to have an event? They have an awesome room they call the party barn with pool table, shuffle board, full bar, kitchen & thoughtful decor. Enough of my stereotyping but you get the point, they have a variety of activities to suit almost anyone. We were planning to go to the nearby state park but after settling in & seeing what the farm had to offer- we didn't need to move. Probably more amazing then the surroundings & thoughtful activities are the owners themselves. Marsha is a talented artist & Clayton a sort of renaissance man himself were very welcoming. We struck conversations right away & within a hour or two were invited to join them & another couple staying on the farm for dinner. It's so refreshing to get to know humans that reach out to others, people that don't make you feel like strangers. If you are close or even if your not & desire a retreat from the norm both scenically & socially, try Waits farm retreat. I think you'll be happy you gave it a try.

This place was so unbelievably peaceful and serene and the owners Clayton and Marsha were absolutely amazing and now have become part of our little family! Two of the best people I've met, the grounds were beautiful, the cottage was adorable, just what I needed to relax and get my mind off my hectic city life. I arrived on Friday night and check-in was efficient, I had to provide my credit card for incidentals. I was given a choice of beer or bottled water upon check-in. The host directed me to my room location. There were several parking lots on the property and I was able to park close to the building with my room which was convenient. The provided a parking permit for complementary parking. The rooms offer a seamless blend of modern comfort and relaxed luxury and well-designed with a very open floor plan with a farmhouse door separating the restroom from the bedroom area. I was on the third floor. Each room had rocking chairs out front for a relaxing vibe. I especially appreciated how easy it was to step right outside and be in a communal space. it made connecting with others throughout the weekend effortless. One of the highlights was the courtyard area. Whether it was live music, lounging by the pool, or just gathering around in the evenings, the atmosphere felt lively without being overwhelming. It struck a nice balance between fun and laid-back. They had many communal areas set up with fire pits and a nice outdoor communal bar area where we held our silent disco. They also had a great event space where they hosted our group. The Water Trough bar and restaurant provided a breakfast and dinner dining experience. They also had an indoor bar area with live music for entertainment. Only issue was they did run out of food at dinner. The location in the Domain is also a positive. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance, so there was always something to do between retreat activities. If I had to point out a downside, it would be that the social atmosphere can get a bit noisy at times, especially if you're looking for a quiet stay. But for a group event or weekend getaway, it actually adds to the charm. We contributed to the noise with our outdoor kareoke set-up. For just $30 we were able to check in early at 1 o'clock instead of three which was great since I drove in town and had a lunch reservation, this gave us time to get unpacked and rest for a minute before heading over to the restaurant. They have lots of options in the mini bar, whether you are wanting an adult drink or just something cold and fizzy. When we arrived, they did give us a complementary bottle of water as well as a cold beer that I sat out on our little porch and enjoyed as the rain started to come down. I love all of the detail put into these rooms, it is such an amazing property, but I'll be honest there were way more kids than I expected, but it was Easter weekend so I guess a lot of families were traveling. I really wanted to get into the pool, but it was massively crowded. They have an outdoor bar as well as a café on the property that has live music and an enormous fireplace and plenty of big screen TVs to watch sports. Every evening they light up the fire pits and if you want to make s'mores, you can purchase a s'mores kit for just $10. They do not allow smoking in the rooms but allow you to smoke on the little patio outside your door. This has definitely become one of my favorite places to stay in Austin, which is difficult because there are so many amazing places in Austin, but Lone Star has definitely stepped into my top five. Several guests seem to live at this motel. One couple seemed fine, but a couple of other folks just looked *sketchy.* When we left at 7:30 on a Sat. morning, a sheriff's car and a city police car were parked outside. One officer kept banging on the door of a guest room, calling the person by name and telling them to open the door, which they weren't doing. Another was standing in front of the office door ringing the doorbell repeatedly, because no one was there and didn't respond. We said good morning, and he said, "I wouldn't stay here again if I were you." It definitely sounded like this was not an unusual event at this hotel, which matched our impressions about some of the long-term guests.
