I have seen and felt major difference after the cleaning. Making patients comfortable is definitely priority of this office and there was no rush to wait for the topical anesthetic to fully work to make sure following lidocaine injections are least painful as possible. The equipment in the office is definitely high tech and the atmosphere makes you feel comfortable, which I find very important in dental office. I really liked that even I haven't had any dental work or cleaning done in years, I haven't felt judged and the staff was eager to do the best they can to take care of my dental health. Following the deep cleaning I haven't felt any soreness the next day. My another appointment was with Dr. Taylor who did the numbing for my cleaning before and this time she worked on my cavity filling and repairing old patch on my front broken teeth. Her assistant was also very professional and you could tell she enjoys her profession. Dr. Taylor did an amazing job on my broken tooth repair and the final result was a piece of an art! I wouldn't be able to tell the tooth was ever broken before. During my appointment I have registered that the doctor decided to use different material to match the shine of my tooth and had no problem discarding the previous material that was not matching. That only confirm the level of professionalism at this location! I would also like to mention that even if I had to reschedule my appts few times and one time even the day before, the staff had no problem doing so. I also like the diversity in this office and that they keep the mask mandate to protect the public and the staff. Dental work can be frightening for a lot of people, thankfully Parkstone dental goes above and beyond to look after your dental health and make this the best experience possible! Prior to moving here in '04 I'd had numerous dentists and Dr. Dunsmoor is by far the most professional and competent dentist I have ever dealt with. Her exams are methodical and thorough. On numerous occasions over the years she has instructed a hygienist re-do a section that wasn't cleaned to her high standards. Her advice in the care of my choppers has also been spot-on. Very early on I encountered a little friction with Dr. Dunsmoor's staff. Since that time she has upgraded her front desk staff and it has never happened again. I only mention it in the spirit of full transparency and note that I still give a 5 star rating. Additionally, the couple of times I felt I've needed Dr. Dunsmoor after hours she has always gotten back to me promptly and once met me outside of office hours which I appreciated very much. Lastly, she provides excellent and honest referrals. The endodontist and oral surgeon referrals she has provided were first class.

However, the incredibly high bill (I would've had to pay $1,000 AFTER my Duke dental insurance covered everything) and her office's refusal to compromise left a bad taste in my mouth. She was charging me for an "educational instruction" that my insurance did not recognize & would not cover. I asked her if she could just give me pamphlets, she said no. She also told me that I would need to get this root planning twice a year, meaning I would be paying over $2,000 out of pocket on top of regular dental cleanings. She spent a long time measuring the depth of my bone loss and charged me for that and told me to make another four appointments for the actual cleaning. That first appointment alone cost me $70 out of pocket. Even though Dr. Davies seemed like she cared, I realized that she didn't care enough to work with me on pricing. When I asked about ways to reduce the incredible expense, her office said there were no other options and if the price did not agree with me, I should go elsewhere. So I did. I ended up shopping around and going with Dr. Courtney Davis of Lane & Associates. I pay 1/3 the out of pocket costs and Dr. Davis actually cared enough to work with my schedule & my needs.

As she had already left, I was serviced by Dr. Armin who charged a fee of $160 just to give a price. What disturbed me was the attitude of the hyginist who smilingly, almost laughingly, told me that now it's time to see the price which , as I remember totaled nearly $13000. My impressiion was that she and the doctor treated this high price almost as a joke. When I refused to be "sold" on this, they made me sign a release. I agreed to have the standard 3-month interval cleaning only at $130. My wife also paid $160 to be examined. He gave her an estimate of several thousand more. Between the two of us, this outfit wanted to charge us nearly the price of a new small car. No dice, Doctor! . The doctor is stated to be an adjunct instructor for the UNC dental school.and seemed to be capable and intelligent-he supposeidly speaks five languages. I checked with my primary dentist. He opined that my work was or would be needed but that the several thousand dollar job on the wife was not needed. In short, I seem to get the vibes that the staff and doctor here are quite capable but mercenary. Their attitude towards high fees seems to be similar to the above review concerning Dr. Davies. They do serve free coffee however! In either case, we are out the $300 for the consultations which will have to be repeated to another doctor.

Our dentist provided a referral to another provider that was not very helpful. Dr. Nelson came highly recommended on Yelp. The staff here is very kind and professional. They explained everything to me during my first call to make an appointment. Dr. Nelson has a very charming personality. He made my daughter feel comfortable, he completed the consultation quickly but not in a hurry. His assistant gave all the details, provided professional follow up with our pediatric dentist and was able to obtain my daughter's x-rays from the other office rather quickly. The office is modern, comfortable and spacious. They have adorable American Girl Dolls on display. I highly recommend this office for your little one's or teen's orthodontic care.

I know, I know, that doesn't matter. But the truth is the entire staff is very professional, very caring, and extra good with kids who may be a little nervous. I was told to arrive 15 minutes prior to my appointment to fill out paperwork. As I was getting ready to walk in about 20 minutes prior to my appointment, an employee called to ask if I was still coming. I told her I was in the lot and getting ready to walk in. The clerk that checked me in was pleasant. The nurse that did my initial intake was friendly and helpful. The lab tech was also kind and helpful. My new doctor was kind and listened to my concerns. She asked questions to make sure that she understood everything that was documented. I'm looking forward to future visits at this office.

I can't tell you how many times he's having to skip every other day and/or take half pills because they never put any refills on his prescription. He has depression/anxiety and needs them to be able to function. The pharmacy has to contact the doctor each time that he needs more medication which takes a while. There's also been a time where the papers weren't signed to get sent over to the pharmacy. It happened twice. Yeah we are looking elsewhere for care.
