Receipt showing they over charged me $12 vs $10 on the soap bars listed. I should have double checked before I left but a long line was forming behind me! Aside from the price issue complaint, the shop itself is very cute. Everything decorated there looks like a winter wonderland during December. As the name suggests, they have a large nursery section for all sorts of plants throughout the shop. They also have many curated decorative and gift type items for sale. They have small sections of sale items which have very specific brands or circumstances that they apply to. Given the neighborhood demographic the steep prices are not surprising. If you find something you like here, it may be worth looking into how to get the item directly from the seller. One of the main benefits is that this is indoors and directly attached to the café, which I enjoyed much more. It's always fun to walk around and digest to browse after a meal.

They gave some beautiful house plants and I like that almost each one is identified by name and care instructions provided. I ended up getting some plants for myself! The herbs are also indetified and properties given, which I find incredibly helpful. The herbs all looked healthy and I brought home a bunch to use in my cooking at home. I also bought a few clay pots to transplant them into. They also have potting soil, dirt, birdseed and bird houses, and annual and perennial flowers and outdoor plants. They also sell fresh eggs ( I was told they sell out quick). Prices are on the higher end, but I think much better quality and choice then at box stores. They also have a nice little gift area which was lovely. Parking lot and wagons for use to load up all you want to purchase.

They have multiple varieties of the more common herbs (basil, mint, sage ...). I also really like their unusual annuals, especially coleus, but you have to go early in the season before they all get bought up. Gilbertie's has lots of great pots and cool items in the gift shop, as well as seeds, fertilizers, and much more. I love how the friendly cats act like they own the place. It's a gorgeous property, and sometimes I go there just to walk around and enjoy the beauty and peace. The winter farmers' market is a wonderful place to visit for a change of scenery during the colder months.

They made some good recommendations on trees and plants and we spent thousands of dollars on the materials and the labor. Problem: there were two snow fountain cherry trees they planted in the backyard that were right up against the house. While the workers were here we asked them THREE TIMES to NOT plant the trees too close to the house and to move them away. Despite our multiple requests they continued on with their work and assured us it would be no problem to move the trees in the spring if we were unhappy. When the trees started growing right into our house they told me to prune the side closest to the house which made the trees look lopsided. In the spring I asked them to come take a look and make good on their promise to move the trees- I assumed this would be at no charge. The guy who came out said it would cost another $800 to move the trees- this after they told us it wouldn't be a problem to move them! I don't think it's a good practice to not do a good job the first time and then try to charge customers to fix the problem later.
