I called in last night to inquire about a boat rental, I got prices and information on what we would need to rent the boat, which was a drivers license and a credit card, and you had to be born before September 1993. All requirements my husband meets. We headed out this morning and everything was going great, we decided on the boat we wanted, handed over our license and credit card. Our total was well over 1000 dollars which we were ok with. The two men at the front desk were very nice and helping us through the process when the lady from the office "manager" steps out and says she is not allowed to rent to someone who speaks Spanish. I ask what she means by this and she again says she can't rent to some one who can't comprehend English. Yes my husband doesn't not speak English fluently but can comprehend and read it well enough to rent a boat! She stated it's written policy from the insurance which when I asked her to see this written she hid in her office and handed one of the men a sticky note with the insurance information. of course a 1800 number that is closed during the weekend. I really feel bad for the owner of this business because as a business owner my self I know how bad a bad employee can have an influence on a paying customer. I thought racism was a thing of the past especially in area known or advertised for tourism. (Also I did speak to a few agents at Markel the insurance company and they stated that this was not part of their policy, and much rather had to do with the manager or owner of the store we were renting from)

We rented jet skis on Tuesday 7/26 and had a great day. The JetSki's were a little older and beat…read moreup but it was fun. On Thursday 7/28 we rented a pontoon boat and picked it up several hours late as we weren't feeling well with the corona but knew we'd lose our money if we cancelled so we went ahead and picked it up and then when we returned it only half an hour late they charged us $125! I don't really think that was fair considering we picked it up late.

The property has several covered picnic areas with grills and relatively new public bathrooms. There's also a very nice play scape and swings for the kids. You'll also find two well-built fishing piers and parking at the rear, including two handicap spots. Here you will also find a shallow boat launch complete with payment kiosk. Definitely a great place to bring the family for a picnic or a boat launch, but I wouldn't recommend swimming in the algae filled water. Definitely one of the best parks in Granite Shoals and the photos included prove it.

They've invested a great deal into their minnow and bait holding tanks, as well. Plus they have a precious puppy right now as a greeter, so how could you NOT stop by. Everything is well organized and they know their fishing equipment. Great folks, make sure to stop in and check out the place! Pretty soon they will have a BBQ place out back! They also have snacks, sodas, and water. Soon they will carry beer!

This camp help's you become a better person by practicing the 4 R's (Responsibility, reaching out, reasonable risk, and respect). Everybody there is nice and kind. My first day ever going, I was so nervous that I wouldn't make any friends but when I first met my cabin mates, I felt like we've been friends for ever. The cabins don't have any air conditioning but they do have fans and on the bright side it's cold in the morning but that's the fun of it. The bathrooms are grows but that stuff does not matter. What does matter is the fun of camp. Their is always so much to do. You could never get bored. From sitting at the hearth (the place were fine arts is) too climbing the rock wall, your always having fun. There are also many water activity such as pool, paddle sports, free swim, ski, knee boar, tubing, blobbing, etc.

Our 9 year old son just finished his second summer session (3 straight weeks of sleep-away camp in…read morenon-air conditioned cabins with no direct parental contact or tech devices allowed) at Camp Champions on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls and before we even left the property, he was asking us to sign up for next year. That right there is a glowing endorsement, folks. As budget-minded, practical parents, it was a tough sell for us at first. This camp, while phenomenal on the surface with a long history of success since 1967 and amenities & growth experiences galore, costs almost an arm & a leg. I'm saying our whole family of 3 could go to Europe for the cost of the 3 weeks for 1 kid here (an hour's drive from Austin). Why would we make the sacrifice and commit to this quite pricey annual tradition? As Brian J mentions in his excellent review, it's the 4 Rs that Camp Champions models in every staff member and enforces every day in all of the campers: Responsibility, Respect, Reasonable Risk, and Reaching out to others. You will never find another summer program with such enthusiastic and caring owners, staff members, teen counselors, and youth participants. Sure, it all looks great on paper, but it's truly fantastic in practice. Participants learn how to: live with 8 other "siblings"; share responsibility for their living space; maintain a caring community; manage conflict; support others in need; self-regulate; appreciate nature; honor elders; step up as a leader; and try something new & challenging every day. Yes, these are all lessons that we teach within our family, but there's nothing like having these kinds of experiences in an environment outside of the group of people who have to love you because you're a blood relative. The maturation that I see in my singleton child each year after the Camp Champions experience is priceless to me. What else? Fun, of course! The property is gigantic, with every kind of summer activity you can imagine, from swimming (lake & pool) to ropes course to skiing to sailing to climbing to archery to horses to go carts to arts/crafts to gaga & pickle ball. There are also the Trojan/Spartan color battles, evening torch lighting, Sunday vespers, and hundreds of other little inside jokes, rituals, and traditions that make campers feel that they are a part of special tribe for the rest of their lives. Parents are kept informed about their child during the camp session via daily photos and owner Steve Baskin's inspiring blog. We also have access to a system where we can send as many emails as we'd like to our campers, but if your child is like mine, you won't be receiving many letters in return. Both years, we've received a measly 2 postcards the entire time -- he was having too much fun to write home! A note on diversity. This is a desirable quality which needs improvement at Camp Champions, and efforts are underway to do just that. During Summer 2016, campers and counselors from 7 different countries were represented, with about 1/3 of my son's cabin speaking a first language other than English. Recently, a foundation was started to help fund scholarships for campers who could not otherwise afford to attend. There's more to do, but I appreciate that the Baskins recognize this issue and are acting to address it.

I have never stayed in the park before but over the years I have known several friends that have…read morelived in the park . So I have gone into that park a few times over the years. And I know the speed limit is 5 miles an hour well part of the park is 5 1/2 and I have never gotten on to for speeding thru that place until a few weeks ago and instead of coming and saying please abide by the speed (which i don't think I was ) but the Manager : DALE came to my vehicle and was very rude and I just apologized actually I finally said you know you don't half to be so rude and then today June 4 2026 I coming in to the rv park to take some one home and the truck I was in the clutch is going out I mean barely working so when I came in my motor reved up because of clutch going out won't go over 5 miles per hour but the manager came up to my truck yelling I mean yelling at me and I tried to explain and he said I heard you raving your engine told him about my clutch then started yelling at the resident I was bringing home .this manager is so Un professional and so rude and should not be in a rv park especially running one . I have never encountered anybody so rude and mean before in my life .I know he got to be hurting owners business

I have been a resident for many years at this park and the majority of us have been here for years…read moretoo. I find it offensive that Mike F, who appears to be a pompous camper relates price to the residents in a very arrogant fashion. Most of the people at this park are elderly and live on a fixed income and are appreciative that the pricing has not shot through the roof like many other rentals out there right now. Mike F clearly is a cheapskate individual as he must have searched for the least expensive place around and then wanted a refund and was refused. I am okay with the last sentence as we like to keep this place a secret. Not sure how he even found out about it.

Needless to say, we were elated to find out that their service tech opened his own shop right across the street. Kevin and his crew are FANTASTIC! Work was done in a timely fashion, communication was great and the price was fair. I highly recommend them. Do not confuse them with the other business on Yelp of a similar name....not the same at all.
