Ok so we went here after a great experience next door. The staff here was cold and had an air of condescension. She answered questions whilst looking down her nose at me and my children. They are teenagers so they laughed out-loud when they found a funny trinket or book. I felt eyes on us every time they went to pick up an item. I reminded them, loud enough for everyone to hear, that it was very small and to be careful not to bump anything. They were sweet and respectful of the space. We enjoyed our shopping but ultimately decided not to purchase the 2 items we were considering. Nice shop with some interesting pieces. Lots of things under lock and key so we needed help a lot. read more

I've never been treated so rudely in a retail store. I will never shop here again. There are antique stores with kind employees and better selections, literally, next door. So, spend your time and money elsewhere. read more

When I first entered the house in Weston for a Estate sale, I was met my a very nice lady who said something to the effect as everything is negotiable. I went to where there was jewelry and asked about the price of a pair of earring, the woman who answered and later found out she was the owner snapped her answer to me. I turned around left, and went around the house for some deals. I came downstairs with a bunch of Items, and was given a bargain deal by a very nice man. I went back and asked to pay $2 for a $5 pair of earrings, and again the owner snapped at me as if I was asking her for her first born. Nast, mean, uncaring, and I usually don't play the race card, but my friend who happened to be white, got a $40 item for $10. My friend was more appauled than I was. I will make sure that the next estate sale I go to, is not being run by Walden Street Antiques. read more

Horrible customer appreciation and questionable ethics. The owner is particularly ill-fit to run a customer-facing business. Here's my experience: After purchasing two very expensive (over $1,000) necklaces there I purchased a third for $700. It broke after only a handful of wears. When I took it to my jeweler, he said the chain was worn beyond repair and would just keep breaking. He said the entire chain was in such poor condition that he recommended scrapping it for the gold and pearl value. I immediately called Walden Street Antiques. It had been a year since I purchased the necklace, but again, it was an expensive item, that had had very little wear, that I bought in good faith. Any other vendor would have taken steps to rectify the situation on the spot for their customer, let alone one who'd proven to be such a good one. It took three tries to reach the owner and when I did, she was completely uninterested, disrespectful and unhelpful. She offered me a - wait for it, $25 gift certificate, saying she didn't even have to that as it wasn't her item. Gee, thanks. As if I'd ever step foot in your store again to redeem it. Her other suggestion was even more appalling: she said she could take the item back from me to resell on consignment to another customer. I said that I considered this an unethical act - to pass on an item I knew to be unusable to an unsuspecting customer and couldn't believe that she would even suggest this as an option. I would have absolutely taken (and appreciated) a store credit. But instead was offered the option of doing something I knew was wrong. Sorry, lady, but my principles are worth more than $700 and yours should be too. Another thing, on occasion I have seen items in this store labeled as 'vintage' that were definitely reproductions. Not cool. All in all, if you want to buy inexpensive knick-knacks there, fine. Otherwise, shop with more ethical establishments. read more

It's not very large, but it's packed with all sorts of interesting things... The inventory changes but there's always an assortment of the type of lovely or funny, strange, nostalgic and familiar things I remember from childhood summers, exploring my grandparent's barn and attic...even back then, some of those treasures were generations old. Toys and games, from long ago, children's books, commemorative plates of historic sites, Universities, and aniversaries of significant historical occasions assorted pieces of unique tableware that invite speculation as to how they were used... handpainted china, crystal, milkware, amethystrware earthenware, possibly uraniumware (which, btw, isn't a danger) pretty sets and individual pieces, like a single exquisite old pitcher. that asks for a bouquets of roses or arangements of wildflowers...picture frames and photos, paintings and prints, assorted curious colored glass bottles - some with the contents in relief, like hair oils, tinctures..some with aged labels announcing peculiar health tonics, colic cures and myriad remedies..pretty little jars that held creams and cosmetics, knick knacks and googaws... There are pieces of furniture and items that graced Victorian dresser tops...handmade table runners and dresser scarves, embellished with lace and original embroidery...lamps, intricate lavish perfume bottles as well as things you'd have found at a long gone general store, with period labling...everything suggesting the stories of their former lives... For those coming from outside of Concord, the Walden St. location affords some great places to browse and eat inside or take to a nearby spot for a picnic. Right next door to Walden Antiques there's The Cheese Shop where, in fair weather, I like to get one of their sandwiches or entrees or a baguette and one or more amazing cheeses and juice or one of their carefully chosen wines and find a little shady spot near the milldam to relax and have lunch... There are many eateries to choose from as well, The Main Street Cafe, Helen's for more familiar child friendly fare and Camilla's where you can get gluten free pizza and great italian dishes...along with many other places to get a coffee or tea...Then stroll around examining the local stores or the centuries old cemeteries in the center. All in all, Walden Antiques is a spot I wouldn't miss, if only for the conversations it sparks...especially when I'm with family or friends from an earlier generation. I have been to just about every antique store in and around New England and this place is right at the top of the list, if not at the top! Considering the size of the space, it is amazing what they have packed inside! They have Mid Century furniture and lighting, antique lighting, gorgeous antique furniture, vintage instruments, war posters, rare books, vintage Barbie collections, tons of art and lots of smalls. They are a multi dealer shop that may have a few of the same smalls as most people, however, the large number of unique finds easily makes up for that. The best part about this place is how things sell! If you don't buy it, it most likely won't be there for long. It's refreshing to see different stuff every time I go! It's also a great day trip as there are two other antique stores right there (one is downstairs and the other is across the street), though THIS is the best one! After antiquing there are great places to eat and other shopping options. Street parking is metered so bring quarters, though they do come equipped with a complimentary 12 minute button...how great is that?! The staff is also super helpful and if they don't know something they will happily call the owner of the item to find out. read more
