Because walking in you might be there all day depending on what device you trying to get. I was able to get in and out at a reasonable time but because I had a little issue it was longer than I would have liked. But the lady who helped me was able to do what she needed to do and it wasn't as bad of an experience as it usually is. It's like a well oiled machine. I thought I walked into the wrong place, as did others behind me, but it's small size was super nice & it was epic to have no line! The person who assisted me was very nice & friendly ~ She's was 5 stars! And the convenience of being able to make an appointment & be seen right away ~ again 5 stars! And being located in close proximity to me ~ another 5 stars! The DMV gets only 1 star because of all the BS involved but it's not this location's fault, it's the way the DMV rolls. I had made an appointment & was confident that I had everything I needed to complete my transaction. Sure enough, I sat down & the lady said I needed another piece of information that was not listed on the website! What does that mean... It means that I could not complete my transaction! If you need to turn left to exit, I recommend going through the center to get to the light. The line starts much earlier than opening hour at 8 am. People started lining up at 7 am on the Saturday when I went. I will say coming early is always well worth it! They have 25 tellers so it goes quickly if you have all your paperwork ready. I also liked that when I did have to fill out paperwork, they kept me at the teller. She said we didn't have to leave because we are her customers, which was a different experience than the one in fair oaks where they would make you wait again if you didn't have the paperwork properly filled out.

I'm returning from overseas with my American vehicle and needed to have it titled and registered in VA. I made an appointment and was 5 minutes early to it. After I arrived, I was immediately seen by a very nice lady (this is where it breaks down). Although I had a folder filled with documents weighing close to five pounds, she couldn't complete my requests because I was "missing" three forms, one of which I had and the other which my international shipping agency said they've never been asked for before. Therefore, the lady gave me a ticket (TA130) to be seen by the next available window. Well, 129 was called then 131, 132, all the way to 138. In the midst of all this, I did receive a text that window 12 was ready to see me. The only issue is that no one was at window 12 and no one ever came to window 12. I spoke to the lady who gave me the ticket. She then gave me another, non appointment, ticket, which pushed me further down the wait line. For 2 hours I asked myself why did I make an appointment. This story has a happy ending though. I was finally helped and all was well; however, getting there was a feat. DMV should have been something that DOGE investigated right after they finished with USAID.

I went to this one and it said there was about a 9 minute wait time. This was around 11am on a Saturday. The process was very smooth. I am surprised the state of Virginia doesn't have this. Such an efficient drive-thru emissions inspection. I got in line, once I got to the booth they asked for my MVA emissions request, they put a sensor for the gas cap test, I stepped out for like 3 minutes to pay while they did an OBD test, then given a print out and done. I was out in fifteen minutes, I was expecting at least half an hour.
