I would say that most of the time when I go to Walgreens on Annapolis road in Bowie, it's a royal pain in my ass. Too much of the time the staff is rude and unprofessional and there doesn't seem to be any attempt at politeness. The wait for prescriptions can be frustrating and don't get me started on the vaccines. This morning, at 11:36, I spoke with a woman in the pharmacy about a specific medication. I asked when it would be ready. For some reason she made it more complicated by telling me they rejected the refill from my doc and they don't have it. I have one more day of this medication and have been getting conflicting text messages from them about it. She proceeded to tell me that they have different dosage that would be ready tomorrow at 5. I previously told her that currently I take 37.5 and take 2. So she repeats herself with a tone and finishes with, "that is what I'M saying". Ok, so we're on the same page then? I know, math is hard. I feel that the communication is poor there. I either can't understand what they are saying because of speech, or they have trouble understanding a simple request. Walgreens, hire more competent and polite people and pay them better. Maybe that's why most if not all the staff look, act and sound miserable. read more

Once again I brought my own bags instead of paying 10 cents a bag. The cashier refused to bag items. They all need to replaced by robots then. I spend lots of money at Walgreens in Bowie but perhaps since cashiers do not bag my items, which are brand new from Amazon then maybe I just need to go Harris Teeters, where the cashiers bag everything. The pharmacy is horrible! We were in the drive thru line at pharmacy before 6:00 pm maybe at 5:53 it closes at 6:00 pm there are cameras so we can prove we were in line before 6:00 pm. The two techs after they finished the customer before us at 6:05 theyyyyyy literally while the customer was in line closed the pharmacy and literally ran out. I don't think they checked to see that we were there before 6:00 pm. Omg we literally watched them walk to their cars at 6:05. My husband truly needed his prescription nasal spray before hip surgery on Tuesday . We were in line before 6:00 this is just so wrong. Anybody that got in line after us would have been considered late because they came after 6:00 pm. This is soooi wrong! read more

Here's an update on Walgreens after trying to get a free flu shot. Not free. There is a $39.00 admin fee. Will need to check with my insurance. In other news, I submitted my online flu vax form. When I arrived I was told this location, at least, never receives the online forms. My husband was with me. We could not find a way for him to do his forms online so support gave us a link to a PDF which we printed and he filled out. Submitted prefilled forms and the clerk did not read it and asked all same questions anyway. Finally, they were at least 30 minutes behind schedule. Not a good experience except the pharmacist suggested I not pay for shots and look elsewhere because they should be free. Points there. read more

I know pharmacy's get a lot of negative feedback but Walgreens has been consistent on service, timeliness on Rxs and being well-stocked. I changed from CVS after being with them for over 20+ years because they inventory was always lacking and their customer service declined. I'm hopeful Walgreens will continue their commitment to service. If they tell me it will take a particular timeframe to fill a Rx, it is always ready as promised. Just make sure your Rx are completely filled out (including DOB & address) before placing the request. I'm read more

If I could give this store zero stars I would. Especially after the experience I just had. I went in for one item at 12:30. I found my item pretty quickly and proceed to wait in line. While waiting the gentleman behind the counter (African American bald male, black glasses) moved slower than molasses yet his mouth moved faster than lightning. He spent 20 MINUTES TALKING TO THIS WOMAN WHILE ALL 6 CUSTOMERS IN THE STORE FORMED A LINE! To make matters worse the manager walks up (light skin male short hair cut was wearing a grey track suit at the time) walked up didn't acknowledge not one customer and did offer any assistance either then walked off. This entire experience made me never want to go back and I absolutely will not be. Either find MORE employees or GET BETTER ONES!!! read more

If I could leave a negative number of stars I would. There are only two employees there that are worth while and unless you know their schedule, be prepared to have a horrible experience. Just yesterday, I went to the pharmacy to get my medicine because I had just seen my doctor and he prescribed me more medicine. Walgreens decided to override the doctors prescription and tell me I couldn't get it until today because I had to wait 30 days. I told them that I picked up my last medication on the 6th of last month (1 month earlier) they continued to tell me I couldn't get it until tomorrow. so I said no worries. I called them when they opened this morning to ensure that they have all of my medications and that they would all be filled there on site and not by a 3rd party. (Which is what they have told me to do in the past). at around 1030, the app was showing that my one med wouldn't be ready until the 10th, another tomorrow and the other one was in processing. so I called to verify what the app was saying and to make sure they were filling them there today. I was hung up on twice by the automated system and when I finally got through, the pharmacist began to berate me and yell at me as if it's my fault that their system is not accurately reflecting what is going on. after yelling at me for about a minute and telling me a bunch of nonsense she hung up on me. she didn't give me a chance to speak at all. Not once would she allow me to explain why I was even calling because the system wasn't accurate. if one of my employees did that to anyone, they would be fired or removed from interaction with others immediately. absolutely uncalled for and no wonder hundreds of Walgreens are shutting down. They need to with employees like that. I will now be finding a new pharmacy. thanks for nothing Walgreens. read more

Don't sleep on this Walgreens!!! I've started frequenting this location for the last 2-3 years or so and no matter what, the customer service of these employees have been far and few. This store Pharmacy is the worst. Their clerks are playing around with coworkers while trying to assist customers on the phone with important details about precriptions and insurance information. I have never experienced the total lack of customer service from this store. It is my opinion that if this type of service continues, they won't have a Pharmacy. I suggest that they rid themselves of the junior high school girls that think it is a movie theater. read more

Brought in a prescription , told it would be a half hour wait. It's now an hour and a half and they are still preparing the medication. GET YOUR MEDS ELSEWHERE. and then to top it off they tried to overcharge me for additional items despite the fact that the lower price was on the screen. They can forget about me bring their customer oh and when I dared to ask why such a delay, their excuse was the other pharmacist didn't show up for work and they were backed up. My thought...... as a common courtesy would have been to tell me there was an additional wait. read more

They lost my business because of really lame customer service, if you want to call it that.... I used to love shopping at Bowie Walgreens, but now it's just a waste of my time the last few times I've gone, I've been leaving w/out anything the last 4 times I've attempted to shop there. When I walked in Walgreens in Bowie there were people in line, I shopped around for a few minutes, grabbed a couple of things I needed and got in line, the line hadn't moved at all, there was an employee sitting in a chair telling another employee what to do and another employee also not taking initiative to ring the customers up and get them out of the store. The customers were just standing there while the employees bickered and left customers w/items in their hand at checkout ready to purchase, it's really not that difficult to prioritize ringing up customers ready to purchase, waiting. after waiting for over two minutes of watching this and nothing happening, customers in line just standing there, same customers in line standing there when I entered, I put my items down on the counter and left w/out purchasing. And this isn't the first time it's been so bad that I've left w/out items in my hand ready to purchase. Sorry to say this Walgreens has become like this. read more

I visited the Walgreens location at Hill Top Plaza Shopping Center, 15990 Annapolis Rd, Bowie, MD 20715 on 11/5/2016 at 7pm. While there I was not allowed to use a manufacturers coupon for Huggies diapers which was downloaded and printed from the Huggies website. The reason I was given was that because it was printed from my computer it wasn't valid. Although print out coupons are generated directly from the website and are verifiable IF MANAGERS WILL TAKE THE TIME OUT TO VERIFY WITH HUGGIES. This resulted in my purchase costing $6.00 more than anticipated. I am extremely disappointed in this service because Walgreens was specifically recommended to take these coupons to help save on the cost of diapers by a popular couponing website. I usually buy diapers at a target store closer to my home. I drove out of my way to get poorer customer service and a higher price than I should've. 0 stars if I could. read more

This store in particular need to hire better skilled workers to assist customers with taking and processing photos for passports. The individuals taking the pictures will use a pocket camera and a flimsy background shade to take the pictures. They are not cognizant of lighting or proper distance when taking the photos. The photos are upload into a system that tells them the photo size passes the requirements for a US passport. The photo I received was very poor quality, and you can see the ceiling lights reflecting off my eye glasses. The overall picture was smaller than the 2x2 inch requirement and my face from the top of my head to the bottom of my chin was larger than the 1 3/8 inch requirement. The price for these knockoff passport photos are very expensive and the staff have a very nonchalant attitude about getting the pictures right for something as important as a passport. It doesn't take extensive training to improve the skill quality here, especially for the price being charged. read more

If I was only reviewing the people who work here, this place would get five stars. The pharmacists are vey caring and skillful, and the rest of the staff are friendly and go above and beyond. Unfortunately Walgreens has made some decisions that really undermine the usefulness of this store. 1. They lost my vacation photos. I took them with a disposable camera and the developer they sent them to lost the film. This is not this Walgreens' fault, and to their credit the manager was extremely sympathetic and (again) went above and beyond to try to make it up to me. However, it means I would never again try to get film developed here, least of all take advantage of their "give us all your home videos and let us archive them for you!" service they are advertising. Not as long as their developer loses vacation photos. 2. One of my kids requires an expensive specialty migraine medication. Walgreens cannot get it-- even though the Wegmans down the road can get it with no problem. The wholesaler this Walgreens uses ran out of this medication three months ago, and I was told by the pharmacist that they couldn't get it. So I made my kid a special neuro appointment to get his medication changed, figuring this was a nationwide problem. The neuro told me that was crazy and to go to another pharmacy. Sure enough, Wegmans had it for me two days later. I then returned to Walgreens (a month later) to ask about this and again was told, by the very nice pharmacist, that their wholesaler is out of it and they can't get it for at least two more weeks. What use is a pharmacy that can't get a medication a grocery store can get for you? This is really unfortunate because I LOVE the pharmacists at Walgreens, but if their supply channels are such that they can't get a prescription we have to have, then we need to use another pharmacy. 3. Though the people who work here are great, service can be very, very, very slow due to lack of staffing. I have waited 15 minutes for someone to finish getting checked out at the photo counter so I could be rung up-- and I'm the next person in line. This has happened twice, and service is nearly always sluggish due to nobody being at the register or that person having to do photo or floor duty as well. I am hoping this place improves so it will be more useful to me. Because the CVS nearby deserves ZERO stars, so I really want a nearby pharmacy that can, you know, get prescriptions filled reliably and stuff. read more

Staff is always friendly. Used the pharmacy for the first time today and the technicians were friendly and helpful. I have VA health care and the pharmacy technicians helped me with the new steps to get VA/tricare approval for prescriptions from my urgent care visit and made it easy for me. read more

I literally never write reviews but I always order pictures at this location and Tony is always amazing. But tonight, he went above and beyond to figure out why my picture order wasn't being received at the store and I left with everything I ordered! He is a ray of sunshine and he deserves to be recognized. That is a great employee with a wonderful spirit right there. I left completely happy AND laughing because he's hilarious!
