Looking for a new pharmacy...which is sad because this one is so close to my house and my old Walgreens in Chicago was fantastic. The people that work at the 800 Devon pharmacy are the worst and most unprofessional, including the pharmacy manager who lacks communication skills. He got pissed because he had an issue with billing the insurance. Literally yelled at my husband. I had to have my insurance call them twice to walk them through billing. Hey...you would think they would know how to navigate their own system...but no. Needless to say, going to try Osco up the street. This review is about the pharmacy. The pharmacist working at 2/28/2016 around 6 pm-6:30 p.m. was very rude to deal with. 2/27/2016, I stopped in and ordered my son's ADHD medication. Our son has autism and ADHD. The particular rx he is on , his system does better with the manufacturer, "Sandoz." It is common for people to sometimes do well with one generic manufacturer over another. I remember being told to, " remind the tech or pharmacist whenever I reorder the medication for my son to request that manufacturer. " There was only enough for a partial refill . The pharmacy would have to order more. I was o.k. with that. 2/28/2016 8:30 am I picked up the prescriptions I had ordered, paid for them. There were 5 Rx pills. The pharmacy tech who was there this morning was really nice. She said she was going to notate the account for the, "Sandoz," Manufacturer. I thanked her and told her that I appreciated it. Hours later at 6:15 p.m. I get a call from another pharm. tech stating they can't get in the Sandoz Manufacter prescription at all. The tech did not offer to see if another Walgreens had enough to fill this order. She did not know why they could not get the medication in at all. Nothing. I hang up the phone. I searched online to see if the manufacturer discontinued it. Sandoz just started manufacturing the medication in 2015. Seeing no info. on the medication being discontinued, I thought I would call the pharmacy back and speak to the pharmacist. At 6:30 p.m ish I get the pharmacist who insisted she told me that they might not be able to get in the Sandoz Manufactured RX. She didn't know why. She seemed annoyed that I was asking her questions. Snippy. This pharmacist was more interested in being right and insisting she told me she might not be able to get it in than providing good customer service. Good customer service to me is saying, "hey I am really sorry about that. Can I call around at all to see if we can at least fill this order?" No, this pharmacist had a very snippy attitude. And again it was more important for her to be right. I told her, "I know IF you said you might not be able to get it in that I would not have filled the order with you. " For all the years of repeat monthly business, we will take our orders to CVS or Target. I am not dealing with the poor customer service. In the end all the pharmacist told me was, "I am going to leave this information for the pharmacy manager." read more

The store staff is generally friendly, but the pharmacy is a whole other story. KATHY is extremely rude, rough and disrespectful as well as careless. She argued with me and told another staff member to let me call my insurance and doctor myself because I had the phone number. I relayed to her that it wasn't my job to contact my insurance for authorizations when I'm trying to pick up my prescription. The male pharmacist proceeded to make excuses for her rudeness. ARIANA was extremely helpful, calm, collected and caring. She did her job very well and was empathetic while I waited for a very long time. I went shopping for quite a while and ended up waiting over 2 HOURS for my 1 prescription to be ready. When they called my name, another pharmacy tech said "it will be about 10-15 minutes". I told her I had been there for over 2 hours and I wouldn't wait any longer. IM NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT IS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PHARMACY , I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. what sucks is that I live 2 blocks away. read more

WORST slowest Walgreens I have ever been to. They have FIVE people behind the pharmacy counter and yet I waited forever just to pick up a prescription that was already READY! By the time I left there were about 10 other people behind me. It just piled up because the pharmacy tech was having issues finding the insurance or prescription of the customer in front of me. I've resided in Park Ridge for over 20 yrs. now and have used this Walgreens. I have to say that the remodel is very nice & deserves a 5-star rating. However, the 1-star rating is for the Pharmacy dept., the Pharmacists & the Pharmacy Techs. So rude, unprofessional, unhappy, unwilling to help & so on. I had gone there yesterday to pick up a prescription & was told by a Pharmacy Tech that my prescription was not ready & it should have been. She told me to take a drive around the parking lot, as she had to tend to the other people, in the drive-thru ... she said by the time I take my drive, my prescription would be ready. This Walgreens is a bit outdated, but they are opening a new building soon. Some of the employees are super helpful and others are just OK. My favorite thing about this Walgreens is Noreen. I will go out of my way to go to this location if I think she's working (usually evenings). She makes everyone feel so good calling them honey and sweetie. She has a nice little conversation while she checks people out. She knows all the deals while helping Walgreens sell more and makes everyone feel loved. read more

The Walgreens store itself deserves much better than a two star rating. The store is clean, the customer service/sales associates are kind and very helpful, but unfortunately the pharmacy deserves zero stars. Numerous times that my wife or I have gone to the pharmacy to get prescriptions filled for our family the pharmacists and pharmacy assistants have been rude, demeaning, and even insulting to us. Its unfortunate that based on all the other negative reviews of the pharmacy at this location over the last couple years that nothing has been done to remedy the issues with the pharmacy - its the only thing in my opinion keeping this store from being an all around quality place to visit. read more

This place is just consistently bad when it comes to filling a prescription on time. When you try and cancel your script they won't let you because it's in process and good luck trying to reach one of their staff members. I was put on hold for 50 minutes twice and each Phone call ended up with them hanging up on me right before it was my time in line. They are awful here read more

Signs outside advertising flu shots no mention of an appointment. Go inside, by appointment only! Call from your car! I call and get an Advocate automated phone. More interested in me answering a survey than why I called! Finally I find out I am in a line ( they care blah blah) they'll call me back! Why am I in my car? This Walgreens should not be rated 2 or 3 stars! It is a great drug store that was remodeled just a few years ago. It has a wide variety of items a typical older Walgreens doesn't have, but it isn't one of the superstores you see in the city. The staff here is very friendly and they move through lines quickly during pulse periods. This is our families primary pharmacy and we have never really had any issues with them in 6 years. They have a counter for consultations along with drive up service. They are open 24/7 and can usually have something ready in an hour or two if you have it faxed in. Finally, there is an acute care Advocate center in this location. They usually have 4-5 people in line, but I think you can put yourself on the list on their website. Not a bad idea if you are sick enough to go to a Walgreens for medical help. The parking can be a little tricky at times, but there are extra spaces by the drive thru pharmacy. read more

Drive thru people never come to window promptly. Twice this month I've spent 20+ minutes waiting in line with only one car ahead of me each time. Today, I needed to update my insurance so I pulled out of line as a courtesy. Why doesn't anyone else do this? Or why don't workers tell these idiots to get out of line. Most the time I just give my name and get my prescription and pull off all in a matter of a minute. There's no excuse to sit there for 15 minutes. Get out of line. The Take Care Clinic should actually be rated as a Zero. I had the worst experience there. I had a sinus infection and my Doctors office gets so busy I went to the clinic. Keep in mind this is the week before Christmas and I had fought off 3 colds which turned into a sinus infection. I had been there a few years before and was happy with their service. I came to the clinic mid afternoon and there were 2 people in front of me. Both of them were short visits and were in and out fairly quickly. I sat in the waiting area about an hour or more. (I guess they were on their breaks.) The nurse was pleasant but during the exam I started to wonder if she knew how to diagnose me. During this Holy Week of Christmas I try and focus on my blessings but the holiday wouldn't be complete without someone getting sick. I want you to know I am posting this to share my experience and not to rant. For the last two months I have had about three colds. It may have started from Fall allergies but I am prone to an annual sinus infection. The other day I went to the Walgreens clinic for an antibiotic. I had all the symptoms and was sick for too long. There were two people in front of me at the clinic.both of them were short appointments and I sat there for almost 2 hours. Maybe it was their break time. Finally I got in and saw the nurse. I wasn't sure she was really focusing on how sick and uncomfortable I was but I asked her to prescribe Biaxon which works well for me. She said no and prescribed something else. Long story shortened, the medicine was not on my insurance plan so it was $63.00. I told the pharmacist I didn't think it was the right med. they relayed the message to the nurse and she refused to change the medicine she prescribed. The next day I called my Ears, nose and throat Doc. He was really ticked off when I told him what the nurse prescribed and gave me the correct med. He said call Walgreens and tell them to hug their patients,not their computer. End of story he wasn't on my insurance plan and saw me without charging. I hate to say it but when these wise old Doctors leave there is no one to replace them. Bottom line,shortcuts don't always work. Listen to your body,it speaks to you read more

Decent Walgreens, I liked the layout of the old store better and it just seemed easier to find stuff. Staff is friendly and the pharmacy although busy gets things done in a timely fashion. It's convenient that the store is open 24/7. read more

Horrible , horrible service here. Especially the Pharmacy!!!! We switched to CVS. There is a manager there by the name of Alisha (sp?) who seriously needs to learn how to deal with customers. Rude and just unprofessional. Hopefully corporate reads this. This Walgreens sucks. Never going back after several "second chances". And please be careful if you need to return an item. Alisha deems it necessary to interrogate you, if an item is being returned....questioning if item was used,etc. Which was completely insulting. I don't know who she thinks she is. This review is about the walk in clinic. Absolutely terrible wait time, they don't take people in order. People they "know" get preference without an appointment, they tell you an hour but it's not that short at all. They talk about patients and treatments in the reception area where anyone waiting could here. read more

Do not patronize this pharmacy. Worst pharmacy EVER. As I write this, I've been stuck in the drive thru for 25 mins! There are 4 cars behind nme and one poor car ahead of me who's been here even longer. There has been no response from anyone in pharmacy. I'm beginning to think they all quit or are dead. Walgreen's Clinic...3 Strikes YOUR OUT Several bad experiences. Horrible service. Went once at 3:00pm for a simple school physical for my daughter. After waiting for over an hour, the Practitioner came out of the rooms, casually left the area and returned half an hour later with snacks for herself. Second, took my daughter who had been sick for 14 days to the clinic to get an antibiotic. Practitioner said she didn't need one. Even suggested she suddenly developed asthma at 15 years old. 3 days later, took her to an Advocate Care Clinic after seeing puss in the back of her throat. Antibiotic cleared it up and she still doesn't have asthma. Third, figured the clinic can at least give an immunization. Scheduled an appointment online 2 days in advance. Did it matter? Nope!! Sat there for 1.5 hours watching everyone else go in front. Even though I confirmed that we had scheduled an appointment. read more

I don't know what I'd do if this Walgreens was the closest to my home. Thankfully I live closer to the Touhy store, which is night & day compared to the Devon store. But I'm disabled, can't drive, so sometimes I take the bus to the Devon store out of necessity. I almost always come away shaking my head about something or other. Either the aisles are cluttered with stock carts, one or more employees are rude and scowling (not all of them), their grocery cooler section isn't stocked, or a pharmacy clerk is acting like a 10-year old. Just yesterday I had to go to the Devon store to drop off a new prescription order. Standing in line, I notice one of the pharmacy clerks looking at me so I smiled at her. She didn't smile back but continued staring at me. When it was my turn, I stepped up and said "Hi"...No response. So I handed the script to her and said I just needed to drop this off. She took it, fed it into a machine, and then stood there staring again, saying nothing. So I asked her if she needed anything else from me and she actually scoffed (!) and said "No" with a weird tone, all the while looking at me in an odd manner. It wasn't until later that it occurred to me that she was staring and looking at me oddly because I wear a patch on one eye and half my face is paralyzed and looks weird. What? She's never seen someone who's had a stroke? Furthermore, was this young woman never taught that it's rude and childish to stare at people who have a deformity? I could excuse it in an 8-year old but in an "adult" employee at the Walgreens Pharmacy? I think not. This Walgreens desperately needs a shakeup. I mean really, do they train their employees how to be as rude as possible to all customers? I hate this Walgreens. read more

I love this Walgreens. I've never understood the bad reputation Walgreens has since this is the one I go to the most often. The people who work here are outstandingly friendly and helpful. Everyone from the people who work in the pharmacy, to the cashiers, to (who I think are) the managers are always smiling and patient. Ok, yes, the cosmetics selection *sucks* compared to other drugstores. It almost might as well not exist. Love this store. Everyone is very helpful. Great staff in the clinic. I know it talks a while to get a prescription, but they are a very busy pharmacy. All the pharmacists are very helpful along with the techs; they are always busy every time I come in for script. But then again, for convenience, they are the only 24 hour pharmacy in my area. People that complain how slow drive through, should come inside and see how busy the pharmacy staff is. The tech that serves the drive-through also helps out at counter. read more

Noreen, the Irish lady she is so sweet and nice! The best staff member there, I will purposely wait in line if there is a long line and another register open just because she's so cheerful and sweet. She has GREAT Customer service skills!! :-) I would normally give this store 5 stars, BUT the pharmacy has signifcantly changed for the worse. Maj the pharmacy manager was there for a good 2yrs, the greatest pharmacist, he was just like the pharmacists you see on the Walgreens commercials. So friendly, if you were a frequent pharmacy customer like my uncle and I, he would say hi to you by your first name and will come by to shake your hand and make sure you understood everything with your script you filled. This week 12/3/2012, they have a new pharmacy manager, Maj was transferred to another Walgreens. He is asian enthinicity, he wont take the time to talk to you to explain anything, doesnt check in the computer to make sure your insurance isnt stating the script is too early to fill. All he says is yep to questions I've asked, I feel that he is just trying to get you out of his hair. I've had to talk to him a few times this week already, and its been the same, nothing has changed, even speaking over the phone with him. He definitely lacks customer service skills and I WILL BE SWITCHING TO A NEW PHARMACY!! They have lost me as a customer!!! Went once again to pick up my 3 maintanence prescriptions, which are supposededly on auto refill, only 2 were ready. Pharmacist explained the 3rd prescription had been called into doctor and they were awaiting approval. When I questioned how this could be it was discovered they had called in a prescription that was for joint inflammation, a one time prescription that was not supposed to be refilled. No one asked them to refill this prescription, they just assumed it was to be refilled.How can they do that? The 3rd prescription? Oh, they had a current order for it, just didn't refill it. It was not on auto refill. To assure you that this is not a one time rant, I have been on auto refill for about 5 years. I would guess that on only 6 occasions have I gone in and been able to pick up all 3 at one time. CVS here I come read more

I usually don't go to Walgreens that often but when I do is because other stores don't have it. It's always good to be able to count on a store that will have the product I need. Oh and I think my gf always uses their pharmacy and she seems to be very satisfied with their customer service. read more

The store in general is fine--clean, well-stocked, etc. But, the pharmacy is another story. A sign urged people to get a shingles vaccine, but when I inquired, they said they were out. Same with the flu vaccine when I inquired for my husband. They ran out of my particular blood pressure medication. They didn't call to advise me. I had to go in to inquire. Phoning is hopeless. You don't get connected to anyone at the store who might know anything about the situation. When I finally did get the prescription, it was only partially filled, but they didn't mention that while I was in the store. I found out when I opened the container at home. I have since transferred my prescriptions to another pharmacy and things seem much better. Pharmacy techs are friendly at least and prescriptions were filled on time and were cheaper besides. That said, this particular Walgreens is the only 24/7 pharmacy in the area. read more

Awful service, period...then the Nurse in the clinic..started with her nonsense...(the board said 1-2pm/lunch!!!!!) I signed in at 12:37..and watched the people in the room with the Doctor..LEAVE...I was told she had another patient, where...hiding in the same room????? LIARS...right there....expect a complaint about your ethics NURSE AND DOCTOR....she said I may need a chest x-ray...NOT----NURSE I KNOW EVERYTHING--NO EX-RAY GENIUS!!!!! ...ended up in the ER that will cost me thousands now...for a simple prescription of amoxicillian!!!!! I will never order prescriptions from this walgreens ever again! I usually go to a different walgreens, but this one was on my way home so I decided to try it out. I needed refills on a prescription for thursday so I ordered them on Sunday to give myself some room because I know how troublesome it can be with walgreens. I didnt hear back from them on monday, on tuesday i just got a text message saying the prescriptions were not ready. So I called to ask why and they said that the doctor hadnt called yet and that they will call me back and let me know. Then wednesday I DID NOT get contacted by them, so I took it upon myself to call them and they told me that the doctor denied it and that the doctor needs an appt. Not only did they not let me know but the Lady on the phone was so rude about it (which is why I am not coming back again). Today (thursday), I found out that the Doctor had called on MONDAY! And now I have to wait the weekend to have an appt when this all couldve been avoided if they called me to tell me on monday. I always have trouble with walgreens pharmacy. But the rudeness and general carelessness of the staff will surely keep me away from this one. read more
