Unfortunately, the negative reviews of the pharmacy are correct. I moved to Urbana a year ago, having had good experiences at Walgreens all over the country for decades. This one was bad from the beginning, but I kept giving it more chances. Once, for example, I was told they were short-staffed, so I came back a month later, then two months later, and so on, but it looks like they either don't do much hiring or they have some insane turnover. The staff they did have tended to be kind and knowledgable, though, so a star for that. I have waited for four days for them to fill a routine, in-stock, no-street-value medication before I could pick it up. I have waited in line at the drive-up for half an hour. I have waited in line inside the pharmacy for twenty minutes. I have waited nine days to get a prescription they don't stock, because that's how long it took for them to get it transferred in, even though there are numerous Walgreens stores in Chambana and it's just a normal medication, nothing special. Today, however, I waited in line inside for 25 minutes before I got to the front to learn that they just didn't have my meds, the same ones they'd emailed me earlier today to say they had. Staff looked hard for them, but they just weren't there. I asked how this could happen, and the cashier said that when the bagged meds came in from the offsite location where they're filled, instead of scanning the barcodes on those bags into their system, they scan in barcodes from a list of what they're SUPPOSED to have. Well, that doesn't work, and it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. The cashier said he'd have the prescription filled in "ten or fifteen minutes. More like twenty." I'd already been at this store about three times longer than I'd planned. I asked him to call me when it was filled. It's been three hours with no call, not like I even expected one. The sugar on top was that early on, before my meds came up lost, I asked my cashier to change my twenty for two tens. He agreed with a smile. Then, after the meds were lost, he asked if I still wanted tens. I did, but he didn't have any in his drawer. I asked him to open the other drawer (the cashier station next to his, at which a customer had been standing for legit half an hour while the cashier did who-knows-what in the back), but he couldn't. I said I would wait for that cashier to come back, knowing it wouldn't happen but that my cashier might be more helpful if I was still standing there. Indeed, after about five minutes, he got someone else from the back to tell me that they "don't keep big bills" at the pharmacy. First, since when is a ten a big bill? Second, why not make sure the cashiers know that so that I didn't have to waste even more time hanging around? I've had it, and am transferring my prescriptions to Carle on Curtis instead. Yes, it's fifteen minutes further from where I live than this Walgreens, but it'll still save me time. Ridiculous. And yet. Update less than an hour later: Carle just told me that they couldn't cancel the Walgreens prescription because Walgreens said they already dispensed it! I now believe that they gave my meds to somebody else. Wow. read more

After tonight, we wanted to give five stars for the service David provided. We went in to pick up photos and found out their machine hadn't been printing correctly, but instead of sending us away David tried the machine again and got it working! While in the store he also helped me change my account info to be updated with my current phone number and new last name. He was friendly and helpful and we were grateful! read more

I switched from philo to 5 point in Urbana IL after Walgreens closed that pharmacy. Now at 5 point they have filled my meds then closed the store for a week. Walgreens was my go to pharmacy but the way thing are I'll be switching pharmacies. I don't know about the people who run the company but I bet they don't jump through hoops just to get their medications. They are 2 young ladies that who have taken care of me at philo before they were moved to 302 East University. They are the best thing about Walgreens and I hope they are well taken care of. But in short Walgreens has gone to h3ll and I need my meds because I'm not trying to leave my health in Walgreens hands anymore. They obviously don't care read more

They called and said my prescription was ready over 2 hours ago. I get there and it's not filled... already don't feel good and i'm just standing there while people are coming and go. I had to sneak in here on Mother's Day to pick up a photo order as I noticed the photos I picked up at another Walgreens with an online photo order did not have the pictures I sent. I opened up the envelope the day before Mother's Day and saw they envelope did not have my pictures. I put an another order online thru the app and came into this location, picked up my single picture explained my situation to the manager and she said, "oh boy," and she gave me the picture for free. So easy to give this visit 5 stars. It wasn't there mistake, but they fixed it for me. read more

They called my script in at 11am, I kept checking my app to see when it would be ready and after 3 hours I finally called Walgreens and they told me it was delayed but there was no reason posted and to contact the store. I arrived at the store THE ONLY CUSTOMER, and they told me it would be another hour, I asked why the delay and he said they were "backed up". 3 people were sitting at computers doing nothing. Lazy. Unprofessional. Jokes. Never spend dime here. read more

My doctor prescribed a medication on Nov. 15, 2023, and sent it to Wallgreens, 302 University Ave. Urbana, IL. When I went to the pharmacy I was told the medication is on order and would be received in the next day or two. I have returned to the pharmacy three times since then and still have not had my prescription filled. As I type this, on Nov. 30, I have been on hold over 45 minutes and no one has picked up the phone. I'm trying to get the status of my prescription so I don't waste another trip to the pharmacy. There is a repeated message saying that there is one call ahead of me, but that appears to be untrue. Please consider using another pharmacy, any other pharmacy than the Walgreens on University Ave. read more

If you are experiencing an acute illness or condition that requires medication - you have a better chance of finding it randomly on the street then getting it at this Walgreens. So annoyed this is my "preferred" pharmacy for my insurance (BCBS of Illinois, looking at you). I am told a medication will be ready in a few hours. Fine. Go to pick it up. Still need a couple hours to fill it. Seems shortages on certain medications are dedicated to this particular location as well. Need help at the pharmacy window? You might get it. You might get apathetic snark from either the pharmacy techs or the actual pharmacist. On one particular occasion, I asked if they had a bottle of the Walgreens brand NyQuil. You know, the good stuff behind the pharmacy counter that requires one to submit to a background check to get. They told me they didn't have it. I have actually bought it there. The tech got the pharmacist who told me they don't have it and have never had it. She has no idea why I thought I got it at Walgreens. I mean... the fact that it says Walgreens on the bottle and that I only use this particular Walgreens was my first clue - but cool, your attitude is gross, pharmacist. I give it two stars only because at certain times of the year I am yet to actually pinpoint they do a deep clearance on a lot of items. Shampoo. Soap. Cleaning supplies. Even cereal sometimes. Things get marked down super cheap - like 90% off in some cases. And now that I shared that tidbit - I'll probably never find another deal. You're welcome, Chambana. read more

If you are looking for a pharmacy, look anywhere else. This is the worst pharmacy I have ever trusted. They are constantly changing their hours with little or no notice and they NEVER pick up the phone. They didn't fill a prescription I need, to you know, HELP ME LIVE, before they closed for the whole weekend (so I can't ever have the prescription transferred to another pharmacy). I will be transferring all of my prescriptions to non-Walgreens pharmacies starting Monday. And I suggest you never trust this pharmacy with your medications. read more

Covidiot Alert! The cashier at the front--no mask. The pharmacy had more than half the workers either with no mask, mask under the chin, mask under the nose. Only three work masks correctly. One customer, holding his mask (!), put his head to the side of the plexiglass to talk. On the way out, five customers waiting at the check out had no masks. Please! My second time to go into Walgreens since March. At the door there is a sign that says masks required. First time I went inside I was in the check out line and a female came in, I made a comment that masks are required, she starts yelling at me, employees didn't do anything. Today I went in and two customers had no masks, pharmacy person had her mask under her chin, female waiting in pharmacy line had mask under chin talking to a person in front of her. I scheduled my wife and I for our vaccines. My wife's appointment was at 9am. Three walk ins were seen before my wife got her vaccine and they arrived after her. Finally at around 9:20 she got her vaccination. Jim, pharmacy tech, informed her that they were not taking appointments. Which is fine, except she was still there before the walk ins, and why were we given the option of scheduling online then? I then went in about 45 minutes later and said I didn't have an appointment and Jim informed me that they were only taking appointments due to only have 3 vials left. I let him know that he told my wife the exact opposite. I left and went to Walmart to get my vaccination. Jim and his manager should have a conversation about his lack of professionalism and inability to do his job effectively. read more

On Monday I went to Walgreens in Urbana on University (the one I'm at once a day) because I smeared my toe and wanted to re-polish my toe. I found a color and bent down to see if the color was close to the one on my toes. I had the applicator out but it was NO where near my toes. STEPHANIE (a new manager) came up to me and said "do not be trying the polish on your toes without purchasing the polish. We don't allow that" As a woman of color I am so upset right now. The fact that she insinuated that I was stealing and could've called the police on me makes me angry. Some of the staff told me she's been rude to all people of color who come into the store. She has refused service to some just this week . I already talked to her manager and he had a "talk" with her. I've called the corporate office and expect some changes in the way Stephanie talks to and deals with the customers read more

I went to a competitor's pharmacy close by and the item I needed was covered by my plan administrator but the co-pay was $21 higher than Walgreen's and was not in stock, so I stopped by Walgreen's at University and Cunningham; not only did they have it in stock but my co-pay was only $8. Plus they processed my order 5 minutes sooner than expected, which allowed me time to write this review before heading to my next errand. Kudos to Mark for getting me on my way! read more

Despite being listed as a 24 hour pharmacy, this is not, as I called at 3 am and the message said they were closed. I have not observed them being open at anytime in the morning after working night shift, the last 3 weeks of being here. It's very unfortunate for them, as this appears to be a very busy intersection. read more
