This wonderful store moved from Fourth Avenue, almost across the street to Donnelly right at the corner of the first intersection that you come to as you approach downtown Mount Dora. It is amazingly organized and has such a variety of clothing, gear, backpacks, sandals, and outdoors-everything. They also sell super-cool brands in such as Life is Good, one of my favorites. It's much larger than its previous footprint and it's always busy in there as it is a very popular place. Really friendly and personable owner-operator and associates. We were in Mount Dora over the weekend and my mother-in-law bought a sun visor here. The next day she realize she had left her credit card when she paid. She called the store and they not only had it but mailed it back to her! They were so kind and we were very impressed with their honesty and customer service! Thank you!! read more

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Walk in the Woods sponsored hikes. I have been on all with the exception of 2 when I was out of state. The leader, Amparo, is knowledgeable and concerned about each hiker. Please continue them. They are great for meeting new people and experiencing this wonderful area. DANGER!!! Do not take one of their "guided" walks. The tour guide did not know where we were going as she kept back-tracking. The guide left members of the tour behind to fend for themselves. Those left behind could have been injured or needed help. There was no head count at the beginning so the "guide" would never have known people had trouble. Be sure you get the park ranger's number so you can get help, because the guide sure wasn't interested in the well-being of the group. And, get a map so you find your way out. Dangerous situation as one could be seriously hurt and the tour guide would never know or care. read more

I always enjoy this place. Have been shopping there for about 7 or 8 years, as long as my mother has lived there. I have always had good experiences but this time, the people working in the store went above & beyond. I was looking for a certain hat which wasn't there. They started unpacking a shipment, found the color I wanted & it was perfect! When I needed a certain size shoe, they found it. I saw them helping other people, too, & was so impressed by their helpfulness & knowledge of stock. Will be back. read more

So I'll start with the positives - this shop has an extensive inventory of Life is Good and other similar brands of t-shirts, as well as cute t-dresses and accessories. The women working in the shop were helpful and friendly. And now for the constructive criticism. A shop owner should never, ever, ever denigrate another shop or shop owner in his town. I walked in with my mother and my cousin yesterday to look for a t-shirt to take home for my husband. We were browsing the variety of shops in Mount Dora and had purchased some things from several of them. As I was going to the register to pay for my purchase, a man (I'm assuming he was the owner) told me that he liked my hat. He didn't say it in a very complimentary way, either, more of a challenge or an accusation as if I had stolen it. I replied, "thank you, I just purchased it at _____ because I was getting a bit too much sun". He then went into a bit on to disparage the shop where I purchased the hat, saying that they were new in town and how he did not appreciate that they were competing with him. The other shop was totally different than Walk in the Woods - specializing in bath and body products. They had a small display of fun scarves and some sun hats. I also bought some wonderful lotions and lip balms there. I was honestly ready to cancel the sale and to tell him to take the Life Is Good t-shirt and shove it in his fanny pack. (really, why wear a fanny pack when you are in your own store and you are wearing shorts with pockets?) In retrospect, I should have. This man was rude. My mother and cousin were also both flabbergasted. We were in town for a wedding - you can believe that I told them about my not-so-awesome experience. I would not shop here again. I live in a town outside of Philadelphia that reminds me of Mount Dora with the multitude of shops and great restaurants. My town relies on both local and out of town tourist dollars. Shop owners here all cooperate and some even sell similar or the same items. I have never, ever heard any of our shop owners criticize or disparage the other shops in town. It takes all the shops cooperating to do well. A shop owner should never, ever denigrate another shop in their town. read more

First off, this is very relaxed low pressure environment. Also, Roy and Jacqui (owners) are super knowledgeable and can assist you in the best fit for your needs. What's better, they are environmentally conscious and have products that reflect their beliefs. Have a great selection of Life Is Good merchandise and the latest Crocs styles. They are very friendly and fun...I went in to buy sandals to wear in Alaska , which I know sounds like a strange request, but after a good laugh and a brief explanation they knew exactly what I wanted. Shopped with a friend today. Found shoes in her size 30% off. Same shoe style and color in my size was 50% off. Owner Roy refused to adjust the price for all to 50% off. Said it was a mistake he wasn't going to repeat. So he lost 150 dollars in sales because he was stubborn. read more

I live in Michigan, but have come to visit family in the area. I've been to this store twice I gotta say, my wife and I keep coming back. We've bought a few Life is Good shirts for the kids, shoes and I've gotten a hat from Walk in the Woods. I was mesmerized by the "The Real Deal" Brazilian hats and I love it. My daughter also for the first time in her life picked out a hat here as well. Friendly atmosphere with cool summery items for kids and family. Check it out if you're in the area. read more

This review is in reference to the volunteer nature hikes hosted by Walk in the Woods. My wife and I have participated in four of these hikes in the past couple of months. Being from out of state, my wife and I have been tentative about venturing into unfamiliar nature in Florida. These hikes have completely changed our outlook as we've gained confidence and over-come this unwarranted fear by participating in these nature hikes. The hosts have been very accommodating, gracious, patient and generous in all aspects of these hikes. The guide has always been well prepared, even doing prechecks in advance of the hike to confirm trail conditions to ensure there were no "surprises". The guide has always known the name of each of the hikers, the total count of the group, and made specific stops along the way to allow slower participants to catch up and take a group head count. The guide also is very knowledge about the flora and fauna, sharing details along the way. We've met some very nice people in each of the hikes. We appreciate all the time and effort all the volunteers have dedicated to these Walk in the Woods events and look forward to future opportunities to participate, make new friends, and build our confidence in seeing all the nature that Florida offers by taking a Walk in the Woods. read more

Unfortunately, our experience in the store was not as pleasant as the others. We were visiting form out of town and was looking to purchase a mesh bush hat. We decided that it would not be good to stuff it on our motorcycle and put creases in the hat. We took a picture of the label not knowing this is a taboo in this store. No problem, we were corrected by Jacqui and we apologized. Then Roy got involved and made some very smart a$$ comments about "how there are these guys that wear brown outfits that deliver things to your house such a novel thing". We then decided to leave the store and not deal with the condescending comments and attitudes. I had left my sunglasses there and Jacqui returned the glasses. I thanked her but again Roy had to pipe in with another smarta$$ comment about UPS people. So unfortunate that HIS customer service demeanor painted a very negative picture of Mount Dora retailers!! Thank goodness for the Mount Dora Olive Oil Company to restore our faith in the Mount Dora retailers customer service. read more

I cannot believe how courteous the ENTIRE staff is at this wonderful store. I had the privilege the other day of meeting the owners: Roy & Jacqui. It just made me realize the feeling of appreciation you get when you walk into a smaller business as they make you feel special. The merchandise is awesome as well. I won't buy Life Is Good T shirts any where else. Oh the variety ROCKS!!!! And their shoes are outstanding. I will be back and I will bring my friends. This place is fantastic!!! This is a wonderful place to shop. I always find things that I have not seen in other shops in Orlando or Winter Park. The staff is always so helpful and friendly and go above and beyond to see that a customer's needs are met. If you have not visited Walk in the Woods, you are missing a fun, shopping experience.
