Life savers. If I could only say two words, those would be it. This company is amazing. I needed someone to walk my dog when she got sick (last minute) and I had to go to work... this company wasn't just a fill in but is now my go-to for everything. First, they have an app that allows you to see when the dog walker arrives and leaves-- not to mention there's a timer that runs during the visit. As an overprotective puppy parent, I was super excited to know my puppy was being tended to rather than hoping that someone would text me or praying that when I got home there weren't any accidents... The app enables an interface where the dog walker leaves comments and even lets you know about pees and poops with symbols (how cute?! And refined.. ha). The app isn't perfect and has some glitches, but the service? The service is perfect! read more

Raising a puppy is a difficult one-person task and all the help one can get is appreciated. What a relief it was to find someone and I felt it from the first time Molly stopped by to meet my dog! I was impressed with her professionalism and her care for animals. It was easy to set up, they were on-time every day, and they took great care of my Nigel and were always good stewards of my house. My usual walker, Conley, always left detailed notes about Nigel's friends that walked with him and it was nice to see that he was getting exercise and companionship while I was at the office. I would recommend Walk the Dog to anyone who is looking for an extra set of hands with a dog or for a midday break. Their prices are very reasonable, they're very easy to deal with, and they love the animals pure and simple. They seem like very nice folks. We had a nice in-house consult with one of the walkers before scheduling our walk where we introduced them to our pup and discussed his temperment. For instance, we told them that we wanted a female walker, at least for the first few walks, as our dog can be skittish around men when he meets them for the first time. They seemed very responsive to this info. However, I can't recommend this company for two reasons: 1) without informing us ahead of time, and after promising that at least for the first walk they would send a female walker, they sent a male walker. Not surprisingly, our dog freaked out and the walker was not able to walk him. 2) More concerning is that they left our door unlocked and even though we got home early (because our dog still needed to be walked), our door was unlocked for several hours.... To their credit, once I told them what had happened, they did apologize, but then they told me that it had happened because the walker thought my door had an automatic lock like "every door they deal with in big apartment buildings." I'm sorry, but the least I expect from someone I'm entrusting with the keys to my home to is to take the time to double check the latch. read more

I'm not giving this review a 5 because I am sure this will be flagged and considered biased. But I would if not. I am one of the "NINE PEOPLE" in and out of said houses of previous clients who are not happy with our service. I am not an owner, nor do I have any reason to care about these reviews, other than the fact that I LOVE this job, and can not believe that clients think they are hiring only ONE person to come in and out of their home when it is obvious that Walk the Dog is a large company (with over 200 satisfied clients). How can ONE person walk 50 dogs and visit with 20 cats (most with medical conditions) in ONE day. If you really thought you were hiring ONE person you did not do your research. I actually just came back and walk and pet sit when I can because I love the animals we call "clients" and I happened to work over the holiday season this last year. As an employee we are made to pick up keys every morning (at no point does the owner just give out keys) and we are to return them every night... We are also given a list of visit requirements. One of which is to clean up around litter boxes for cat visits, but if there is not a dustpan or vac around I am not sure how the clients would expect that to happen. I would also think that(even though we rinse out the wet food cans that clients leave for their cats) if we are not given a proper place to dispose of food items for pets other than the trash or recycling bin inside the house, the cans/food will, after NINE days of leaving it in your trash. start to smell a bit. This is not the fault of the people caring for an animal, but the fault of the owner for not preparing to leave their house and animal for NINE days. As I said before I was one of the walkers that had the pleasure of taking care of the cats in the previous post. The one animal who received an inhaler was fantastic, the other who got special medicine that she had to eat, ate it all up in front of me and stayed for extra loving after doing so, the third could care less about me so he just hung out and watched as I WASHED THE DISHES from not only my visit but the one prior so that they would be clean in case the owners came home that night, because that is how we are told to operate. ALL of the walkers that work for this company have been around for awhile because the enjoy what they are doing and genuinely care about the animals. I left to have a baby, and came back to walk and visit one day a week because I missed not only the company (Walk the Dog) but the reputation that followed the company and the animals themselves. Yes, there are several of us, but if you did research on the company you were hiring you would in no way have been able to think that ONE person would be caring for your pet. Check the website, see the walker profiles... Don't blame the people that kept your animals fed and cared for while you were vacationing for NINE days. I am trying to keep this nice. But lets think about it. I would not hire anyone to watch my child without first doing my own research and if you were not happy with something you could have found out by visiting the website well there is not much I can say. I love the animals I visit and treat them like my own, I know other walkers feel the same way. The one problem with Yelp is anyone can get on here and "yelp" at anytime, they may be tired, angry, mad that they didn't leave better care instructions for their home while they were away, jet lagged, or even drunk and there is no one to filter them except for the owners of the companies and that just looks like someone s covering something up... I recently ended up having to take care of a family member's dog for a few months. Not having the schedule or home size to really have a dog in the first place, I had to enlist some help to walk the big guy while I was work. A neighbor had recommended another service in Canton so I called them first. After 2 tries and no response in a week, I called Walk the Dog (the owner of the other company did call and apologize a couple of weeks later). Molly responded immediately and came over to my place that evening to meet the dog and fill out forms. My experience was completely different than Dawn's. I thought everything was pretty well explained and also covered in the forms we went over. There are a couple of different WTD operations and Molly runs the one in my area (Canton). There are a few walkers who are scheduled for each area... most of their profiles are also on the website. I had daily walks so it ended up being a rotation of the same couple of people. Any time we had a schedule change, I received a response from her on Blackberry or iPhone. They left a note each time they visit with a 'report' about the dog, down to the type of 'business' they did. I also had some pictures emailed of him on some of his walks so felt well up to date. When it rained, they would stay inside and play with him to give him some activity. Probably the best endorsement from the pooch himself was when I was walking him on a Saturday. He got super excited and ran up to a guy I didn't know in the parking lot. He introduced himself and it was Colby, one of our frequent walkers, so it was pretty reassuring to see how happy he was with him. They really went above and beyond and the dog's behavior became noticeably better. An easy 5-star recommendation. read more

Our July was hectic. We had plans to travel which were detored due to an unexpected death in the family. With everything we were going through, travel, funeral arrangements, friends and family, the ONE thing that didn't keep me up at night was wondering if our animals were okay. Walk the Dog Baltimore really went above and beyond to ensure our animals were well cared for and loved. We looked forward to the notes left each day which brightened our world. We had a minor incident where our cat threw up and the caretaker informed us via our daily updates. This was new for us and Molly immediately reached out with a phone call and email to ensure us that she was just fine. They are also experienced with handling our exotic birds and provide enrichment for them each visit. This is very difficult service to find. We are thrilled to have found Walk the Dog and have used them as our primary pet sitter for over a year now. They are also very reasonably priced! Couldn't ask for more. read more

Absolutely love these guys. Molly and her crew have been so responsive and have gone out of their way to help us out ... even when I got stuck at work on a holiday weekend and Molly was able to squeeze in a quick potty break for our dog. Dog taxi service is also amazing and has helped us treat our dog to the occasional day care day. Oh and one time our dog had some serious GI issues in her crate and her walker was absolutely brilliant in handling the situation. read more

TERRIBLE!! I hired Walk The Dog to watch my cats while I was out of town for 9 days over Christmas. I interviewed and thought I was hiring Molly, one of the owners, but I've just returned to find that NINE different people came through my house and cared for my cats!! Does this mean they copied my key and gave it to eight other people?! I was puzzled when I walked in the door because my cats didn't come down right away. They were hiding all over the house and seemed distressed. Now I know it's because so many different people came through. As well, my cats require medication and some of the daily notes left (by various people) say that they were not given their medications or that it was "difficult" to administer. Walk The Dog was recommended to me by my former pet sitter (who was wonderful, but had to close his business) and I never bothered to check out any online reviews. Boy, I wish I had. It looks like Molly misled some other people as well. One of my cats has a very serious, potentially fatal health condition, which Molly was made well aware of. The fact that different people were caring for this cat, and that not all of her medications were given as directed makes me furious. I would have never hired Walk The Dog if I had known the care would be like this. They also left litter all over my floor and something that smelled disgusting in my trash (which was completely empty when I left). I am extremely angry that Walk The Dog would mislead me in this way and violate my trust. I'm having my locks changed and will never, ever hire Walk The Dog again and will dissuade everyone I know from doing so. read more

My first impression of Molly and Walk the Dog proved to be completly wrong. We did not wind up having a good experience with them once their services actually started. Molly was very disingenous, leading us to believe that she would be our dogs' walker and the only one coming in to our house. This was not the case. The note left after the first walk was from some walker that Molly never mentioned and that we never met or talked to. I do not like the idea that someone I never even heard of was in my house. Also, the walker had to be asked twice to please leave the time she visited so I would know when my dogs were supposedly walked. The final straw came when the walker on a Wednesday (our walks were scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday) wrote that she would be off for the rest of the week and would be back the following week. I got nervous that she forgot she would be walking the dogs on Thursday so I contacted Molly to see if she could shed some light on this. I received an extremely rude reply from her. I then left a message with her letting her know that we would no longer need her services. Her reply? Fine. She never asked why and never offered to return our keys. If I could give Walk the Dog zero stars I would. When I recieved my consultation I was confident that my dog would be in good hands, boy was I wrong. My dog is skiddish and I warned them of it. I told them he is confortable with women, but sometimes they would send a guy. Walk the dog also sends a different walker every visit. They don't give your dog any time to build a relationship with the walker. This company also takes your dog for a drive every now and then to walk them somewhere different; however this is NOT a good idea if your dog is cramped in the backseat with other dogs who don't know each other. I'm glad they couldn't walk my dog any longer I love my new walker. read more

NOT RELIABLE, POOR MANAGEMENT ((HOWEVER THERE ARE DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT OWNERS)) ---------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: I've edited my review after being contacted by one of the other owners of the company expressing sincere concern. I would like to add that my experience was with one of the owners only. There are a few independent owners within WTD, each with their own territory. My negative experience may not at all reflect the type of service you would receive under one of the other owners. I am located in the Charles Village region. ---------------------------------------------------------- After using Walk the Dog for over a few years we finally had to stop doing business with them. They were very indifferent about making sure everything is right with their customer. We had a handful of issues with their service, but more importantly, some of these issues were handled very poorly by the owner/manager. The final straw that prompted us to stop using them is described below. We scheduled two house sitting/cat care visits while on vacation for 9 days. (Our dog was staying with family and not involved.) When we got home from our trip, the 5-6 bowls for cat food were dead empty, there wasn't a single kibble left on the floor, and the cats were starving. It is Walk the Dog's policy to leave a note after each visit and there was only one note - for the first visit only. Further, we arranged for Walk the Dog to scoop the cat litter on each visit. Based on our scooping system, we can see it was only scooped once, because there is only one bag of dirty litter tied off in the waste basket. When we inquire about the missed visit, they continually deny they did anything at all wrong. According to them, they just forgot the note and to scoop the litter, what's the fuss? To add insult, their initial response was to blame us saying we didn't schedule enough visits. However, our two cats don't eat 5 bowls in the 3 days that would have lapsed from the alleged second visit to the day we returned. Add that to the fact that it is admitted 2 other services weren't performed and you can draw your own conclusions. So now this becomes an honesty/integrity issue - not what I want from a company handling my house and pets while I'm away. If the owner/manager had promptly apologized and given us a refund, we may have continued using them. But, it was truly unbelievable the way they dug in their heels and kept up this denial of any fault for anything, and tried to put up this smokescreen of fuzzy information about the missed visit. We finally wrangled out a refund for that disputed second visit, and they won't see another dime from us. read more

Service depends on where you live as each dog walker only works in certain areas. Not only did my dog walker not show up to the initial consult, but she didn't call to cancel, return my call, call the next day, or even return my email. Very unreliable and unprofessional. I would look for other dog walking businesses in the area that you can rely on. read more

The best ever. My doggie has completely changed since Paige, Ben, and Jamie started walking him. He goes on pack walks, and has become so much better towards other dogs. He is so happy. I failed to notice that my baby was limping, and Paige sent a very thorough email when she noticed it. I can never send enough thanks to her and this group for making my dog so happy. They are amazing. Truly awesome people who love dogs. I would happily pay 2x what they charge bc my baby is so happy. read more

I was very nervous about leaving my 1.5 year-old cat Yoshi home for an unknown amount of time when my father had surgery in Connecticut last week. A few weeks before I left town, Molly came to my house to meet my furry friend and I for a consultation. She put me at ease right away and I knew Yoshi would be in good hands. While I was away, I got updates on when someone arrived and left my house. I really appreciated getting comments from the sitter about how Yoshi was doing. I ended up having to be out of town longer than expected, and Walk the Dog's convenient appointment scheduling was simple and reliable, which allowed me to focus my time on other things rather than worrying about my cat. Payment was also easy and convenient. I would recommend Walk the Dog for all your cat-sitting needs and will definitely use them again in the future! read more

I cannot recommend Molly and Walk the Dog enough. We started using WTD when our little guy was still a puppy and as he grew we realized he had a number of issues due to intense anxiety. Molly and the team of walkers were incredibly responsive to his and our needs - schedule changes, his own issues with fear and noise, and very accessible via email, phone and the online system. I've been a client of walk the dog for a couple years now. I've always felt their visits seemed a little shorter than what I pay for and the visits happen during times I didn't originally schedule. I have an alarm system I can check away from home so I know exactly when doors are opened, how long people stay, etc... It's disappointing and I've mentioned my issues casually, have been told the walker would be notified to make adjustments, but no changes were ever made. Feels like I'm being cheated and my dogs aren't given the care they deserve. Planning to check out some alternative services in the area. I'm new to the Charles village area near Johns Hopkins. I loved these pet sitters. I used this service for petsitting while I was away many times for a dog and for cats and was so happy with them every time! Really thoughtful, smart pet care I thoroughly relied on. Considerate all the way around. I see that a lot of people have mentioned that they had more than one person come over to take care of their pet as a negative but to me that is a POSITIVE. Kelly and her team in North Baltimore have been watching our kitty while we're out of town for the past two years or so. They always leave a note for each visit and comment on our pet's well-being, let us know what they did while there, etc. They have always been reliable and have never missed a visit. They recently started emailing invoices for scheduled visits, which makes it a lot easier to track how much you owe and to reference your payments by invoice number. They don't send the same person - we often have two or three different sitters for one trip - but that's ok by us as long as the service is consistent. We recently moved to a new area just out of the city and I was happy to find out we were still within their service area (barely, by less than half a mile!). We are definitely paranoid and over-protective pet parents, and we feel we can trust WTD and Kelly's team to watch over our fur-baby while we're away. read more
