Back in 2017-2018, I made a decision that an RV, specifically a travel trailer, was in my family's…read morefuture. I knew initially that I was a long way from making a purchase, but I decided to scour the internet in an effort to become a more savvy and informed purchaser. Having watched hundreds of videos and having attended numerous RV open houses the past few years, my family got the opportunity to see numerous floorplans from several different manufacturers. We knew that the Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S or its twin, the Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS was the "perfect" travel trailer for us. At 25' 11", it was small enough to go to all the State Parks and National Parks, yet big enough to be comfortable inside on a rainy day. Also, at 5,300 pounds dry weight (no propane, batteries or water), it was definitely towable by a 1/2 ton truck or large SUV. Fast forward to January 2021, and I was finally ready to make a purchase. I will readily admit that even though the Rockwood Mini Lite 2509S or its twin, the Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS are nearly identical, the exterior graphics on the Mini Lite were slightly more appealing. However, being identical trailers, I was prepared to purchase either one, depending on which one I could negotiate the better deal. I started a hard target internet search throughout the Southeast; however, I preferred to purchase close to Southeast Louisiana, as this is where we live and I wanted to establish a relationship with a dealership. I never dreamed I would purchase my travel trailer in Ville Platte, Louisiana; however, my internet search showed they had a 2021 Forest River Flagstaff Micro Lite 25BRDS on their lot. Furthermore, it had the white 2-tone exterior, the light colored (Newport ash) wood interior and the light colored (Mojave) furniture color. These were all preferences of my wife, and you know the old saying "Happy wife, happy life". Also, this particular unit had the 15K A/C upgrade from the 13.5K A/C, power stabilizer jacks, night roller shades, a 12 volt -11 cubic foot DC refrigerator with a 190 watt solar panel on the roof, a Maxxair vent fan in the bathroom and an onboard water purifier. Salesman and co-owner Tyler Johnson made me a very fair deal that I would have been hard pressed to beat. His price under the advertised MSRP amounted to a discount of over 20%, which is very good in what is a buyer's market right now. He was a true pleasure to deal with telephonically and via email prior to the purchase and answered every text and email in a timely fashion. I am "over the top" when it comes to asking questions, even though I considered myself an informed purchaser; and for the record, Tyler responded to over 40 emails over the course of 14 days. I told you I was "over the top". I picked up our trailer on 12 FEB 2021 and knew beforehand that Tyler would not be there, as he was on vacation. However, his brother Gabe Johnson, who runs the service department and is also a co-owner, closed out the sale and walked me through my PDI (pre-delivery inspection) to familiarize me with how the trailer works. Gabe spent approximately 2 hours with me showing me how every single component worked both inside and outside the trailer. He was pleasant and patient and was very good at what he does in the service department. As a hard freeze was arriving a few days after my purchase, service department technicians Greg and his son Gabe (a different Gabe and not Gabe Johnson) drained all the water from my trailer so I would not incur any frozen pipes. They even drained all the water from the hot water heater and cleared the water lines with low pressure compressed air so I would not have any issues. Rick's RV Sales carries the Equalizer weight distribution (WD) hitch and installs them almost exclusively. However, I chose the Andersen weight distribution hitch for its lighter weight (55 lbs. for the Andersen vs. almost 100 lbs. for the Equalizer). Although they had never installed one, they let me watch them install it, as I had read the instructions and watched the installation video several times and was able to provide them with some input. They even helped me adjust my tow mirrors before leaving. I can't say enough good things about Rick's. They are a family owned and run business with a good selection of units on site. Although not as big as some of the chain dealerships, their personalized service cannot be beat. Heck, they even offered to buy me lunch when they went to pick up food for their staff. If you are in the market for a new RV, I implore you to give Rick's a call. Tell them Mike C. sent you.

The difference between the two was night and day. Not only was the price better but the sales and service we received at Ricks was one of the best buying experiences we have ever had. Tyler helped us newbies to better understand what our true RV needs were despite putting us in a less expensive RV. We cannot say enough good things about our experience with Tyler and the Ricks RV staff. We highly recommend them.

Emily, my sales rep, told me multiple lies: 1. That there were 3 AC's installed on my RV. We negotiated the price BEFORE I realized that there were only 2 2. My AC (that I had to pay extra for) would be installed when I picked it up. It was not 3. A wifi gateway was available to go with my winegard air 360 and it would be installed when I picked it up. On May 10, she told me she was getting a price on it, but I never heard back from her. Not only was it not installed, but I found out that she never ordered it, then she told me that they could not do that and that I would have to order it and install it myself. 4. That I would receive a complete walkthrough of every working function of my RV, and pointed out specific things that they would show me. I was only shown half of those at walkthrough. 5. On May 19, I asked for a total price on purchasing the RV, along with installation of AC and gateway. She told me that she was out of the office, but that she would check with Rebecca. I didn't hear back from her. 6. On May 21, she told me I was scheduled to have my ac installed while I waited on June 11. Said it would only take an hour. That did not happen. 7. On May 22, she told me there was a mixup on the paperwork and that the gateway was not ordered, and that she would send me the info about it. She never sent anything. I asked that she remedy that situation before I came in on July 22, but didn't hear back. 8. On May 25, I texted her to call me. I wanted to get the gateway problem fixed, but she didn't call me. 9. On July 6, I texted her that my RV had been in service for almost 4 weeks and that virtually nothing had been done. She told me that she sent an email and would call me soon. I never received a call. 10. On July 7, I texted her asking if she had heard from them. She said that she hadn't heard yet, but were supposed to call her back that day. Since that date, I have not ever heard back from her. 3. My fridge quit working one week after I got the RV. I brought it in for warranty work on July 11 and told them I believed it was a bad circuit board. It took 3 weeks to get a diagnosis. A week later, I found out that the part had still not been ordered. 4. I called to talk to the service manager on July 6. The receptionist said he would call me back. He didn't. When I called on July 7, he's not in the office. 5. When I call Nancy with questions about what's going on with all of these issues, she says she will find out and call me back. But she never answers my questions, even when she does call me back. She quit on July 7. 6. I talked with Jessica at 1:30 on July 7 about all of my issues and she said she would talk to someone in charge and they would call me. Steven called me twice in the next few days, explaining how it was all Nancy's fault and that she had quit. July 12-called at noon for Steven. Out to lunch. Was told he would call me when he got back. Never returned my call. July 19, still hasn't called me back. In July 14 I called to talk with Steven. He was out. Talked with Casey. He told me my board for my fridge was on order and my ac parts were there, but couldn't give me any other info July 19th 10:15 am called for update. Was told Danny, my new service rep was with a customer and would call me back. Had to call him again at 2:30. Finally got him to run down my list with me. First time! Parts for ac and fridge are in. Cannot fix tires, gutter, or soft spot. Talked to Jessica. She said they will deliver my license plate on 7/20, and they did. July 22- I went to Primeaux service and finally met Danny. He went through each of my items on my ticket with me. He said that all of my parts were in, except for the grommet on the rear gate. Then he told me that my RV was 8th in line. He quoted me over $600 plus labor for the gateway, which I refused. My AC and circuit board still haven't been installed (Aug 4) Rebecca- did my financing and warranty. She was great. Johnny- did my walkthrough at pickup on May 21. He was unfamiliar with my RV. He had to figure out how most things worked, which took way too long. Then, because the workday was ending, he hustled me out and ended the walkthrough before it was complete. He was completely nice, but his lack of knowledge of my particular RV resulted in a ridiculous waste of time. He even told me that my gateway had been installed. I didn't find out until I left that it was not there. Emily was my RV expert. She was very nice and a good salesperson, but lied to me repeatedly and was awful after she got her money. Stephen- great at first, but didn't deliver or follow through Jessica Brinkhaus?- got my license plate for me and always followed through when she said she would do something.
