Trip was great BUT... A. airline was not given my contact info and I was not advised that my flight was changed in Jan 2026 for May 2026 flight to China. I got to airport 7 hours early!! not cool B. Hotel was NOT paid for. Only deposit was made. I was not advised of this until I actually called from China to Gresham to find this out. Glad I had the money to pay for it. Major lack of communication. I will not be booking through this business again. I will do it myself or find someone else. read more

High school choir trip. This agency did not plan our busses correctly. Supposed to be two busses because of the number of kids. Only one bus showed up so half the kids had to leave Disneyland early so the bus had time to drop them off and then pick up the remaining g kids. Airline return tickets were messed up and several kids were stuck at the ticketing desk for 90 minutes and had to run to the gate. This agency also planned my wife's cheerleading group in the past and they had similar issues. Poor planning and customer service. read more

Big anniversary this year coming up. We wanted to try something new., not sure what we want yet. Decided to try a travel agent & get some ideas about what to do. Walked in the door & one person behind the desk, nobody else around. she stared at me for a bit, asked what we wanted, told her we came for ideas on a trip. "Do you have an appointment", she asks. BEWARE!!!! Stop, and do not attempt to use this business! A coworker of mine knew I was planning a trip to Mexico and suggested I use Walker Travel instead of making my own arrangements. She said they can beat anything you can find on the internet. I consider myself to be a pretty frugal and savvy shopper, and was up for the challenge. I emailed Doug at Walker travel and told him what I needed. He promptly emailed me back the same day with an itinerary and a price that did beat my online price. However, he only beat it by $10. I was still happy that I didn't have to do anymore leg work, so I told him to book the trip. He asked for the usual stuff passport number, DOB, etc. I tried to give him a credit card, but he said he didn't need it yet. I sent what he wanted and never heard anything back. So, for the next 3 days I emailed him each day and there was no response. I was getting nervous, didn't want to lose my quote. So, on day 4 I called and talked to the receptionist and she was of no help. Later I called again and left a message on his voice mail. Again, no response. The next day (day 5), I emailed again and no response. Finally, on Saturday I called and Doug answered (pretty sure he's the owner) and he told me he would call me back on Monday since he was trying to get people off of the east coast and had a lot of flights to change. No worries, but before I hung up I asked him if the rate was still secure and he confirmed it was. He actually said this: " We have special rules with airlines that allows us to hold reservations". I felt so much better, all I wanted to do was give the guy my money and pay for my trip. No response on Monday, do I tried to call on Tuesday and left him another message. No call back, finally on Wednesday I get an email that says "Your trip cost has increased by $2000. Warm Regards, Doug". Seriously? My trip wasn't even $2k to begin with. This is Mexico we are talking about, this is where frugal people on a budget travel. Give me a break! Now, you should all know that this trip was a birthday gift for my bf, and I had actually made a certificate and presented this trip. Now, lucky me.....I get to tell the bf that we don't get to go because of someone else's poor planning and organization. I am not sure if he just didn't want my business or what. My husband and I are planning a long trip to Europe. It will be our long-awaited honeymoon after two years of marriage. We have been saving and preparing for this trip for a long time. Very exciting, ey? That is, until we attempted to work with Walker Travel to help us plan our long-awaited honeymoon...... We stopped by the agency a couple of times, thinking it was open. One of the times, the OPEN sign actually was lit-up, letting the world know that it was, indeed, OPEN. The doors did not seem to be open, so we looked for the hours of operation sign that most credible businesses seem to have. They did not have one. I am not sure why they don't follow this basic business protocol........perhaps this allows them to open according to their own needs and not according to the needs of their clients? Anyhow, to make a long story a bit shorter, I finally found them open. When I walked in, no one was in the reception area. I waited for a while, hoping someone would notice I was there (the door did make a loud sound when I entered, after all). Anyhow, I finally asked (4 times): "Hello?" "Is anybody here?" Let's just say that I know they heard me, from the beginning. A woman finally came out, and said "Oh, I thought the receptionist was here. How can I help you?" I asked, "What are your hours of operation?" She said, in a short manner, "we're closing soon, we close at 5 pm". (Keep in mind, I had already been there for a while, waiting for someone to help me.) To which I responded "Oh, that's OK, then, I only had a few question about a trip to Europe that my husband and I are taking....." She responded, "Let me see if I can get someone to help you." I waited. Finally, the woman said the travel agent that would help me was on the phone, and would be with me in just a bit. I waited, again. Meanwhile, the receptionist who pulled the disappearing act came back into the reception area and didn't even acknowledge my presence. A man, who seemed to be the owner, came in through the front door, and asked the receptionist if I had been helped. She said, without even glancing at me, "Yes, someone will help help her in a bit." Finally, the travel agent that was going to be helping me allowed me into her office, and she asked what I needed, in a snobby, short tone, as she, very obviously, looked me up and down, in a demeaning manner. I explained that my husband and I wanted to take an extended trip to Europe in January. .....and what was her response? : "Well, you do know that we are closing in a few minutes, right? I'll just give you some brochures..............." This was my first impression of Walker Travel's "customer service" protocol. At this point, I smiled and calmly stood up, and said "I see. Well, I will just go to another agency in the area that can help me"....and I walked out (Which I did. My husband and will be booking our trip this week with a very nice lady who was kind enough to sit with me, patiently, and professionally, to help us plan our trip. I am glad to hand them the thousands of dollars that this trip is going to cost us, rather than give out money to agency that, very obviously, does not care about its customers and is, obviously, in the wrong business (aka, customer service)....) I understand people wanting to leave work on time. I also understand that the agency did not have time for me at the time in which I walked in. However, due to their absence of obvious posted hours of operation, I was not aware of their business hours. I definitely do NOT understand their concept of the phrases "first impression" and "customer service". More importantly, I do not understand the professionalism and education of the travel agent who was incapable of assisting me and/or incapable of treating me in a professional, kind manner. There are a dozen different better ways in which she could have communicated with me, and perhaps kindly expressed that although they were about to close, she would be happy to help me at a later time, so that they could better serve my client needs, with time and care. I am very keen on customer service and first impressions. If this was my first experience with Walker Travel, now, at the time of exploring options, I don't even want to think what my experience would have been if I had been abroad and had needed anything from them. Potential customers, BEWARE: Stay away from this place. A vacation is a beautiful thing, when planned correctly, more so when it is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation.
