Therefore my trusty sister and partner in crime Caroline S and I decided to get takeaway for supper. We tried new delivery company Deliveroo and found they currently don't deliver to our area. This is a bit ridiculous as we're relatively central. I can't see Deliveroo prospering in Belfast if their delivery zone is so restricted. Apparently they currently only deliver to BT1 which is literally just the city centre! After much deliberation and debate we ruled out pizza, Chinese, Thai and Indian food and decided on chip shop food for supper. So John Dory's it was. Having been let down by Deliveroo we resorted to the trusty Just Eat app to order. All was quick, easy and efficient. As two vegetarians what we could order from John Dory's menu was limited as even their pasties are not vegetarian. Thus they lose a full star for lack of vegetarian options. We ordered a chip, a cheesy chip, onion rings, battered mushrooms, a tub of mayo and a tub of garlic mayo. Our order arrived quickly enough within 30 minutes, which was less than the 45 minutes we had been told it would take. It was hearty, unhealthy grub which really hit the spot and did not disappoint. I loved the chips but thought the onion ring and mushroom batter a tad too soggy instead of crispy. All the same everything was tasty, flavoursome and delicious and I would get food from John Dory's again.

The staff are always helpful, friendly and efficent. They always work with a smile on their face and are polite and get you your chips nice and quick. The price is also pretty good, you are able to get a really good feed for a fiver, which is great for chips in Bangor, especially when they are this good. Delivery service is available Monday to Saturday 5pm to 10pm, and phone orders are welcome at all times. They also take lunch orders from businesses and will deliver if the order is big enough.

The battered cod is pretty good, but its the chicken strips that keep me keeping on going back. Somebody stop me. The legendary chicken strips are long chunks of chicken breast deep fried in lovely lardy batter. But not too lardy, lovely and golden and quite crispy. They come with chips and one portion would feed two people with moderate appetites. So not the husband and I then. Throw in a tub of gravy and you're good to go. That little lot will cost you less than £5. The other must try are the battered mushrooms. These little beauties are hard core as the spongy mushrooms really soak up the oil but a couple of them totally caked in salt are strangely good. The Golden Chip does kids meals in a box for £3 which come rather unusually with a Kinder Egg. Odd choice but of course the kids love it. So maybe more clever than odd. What you will also notice about the Golden Chip is that it is spotlessly clean and that the servers are polite and friendly which are two things you don't always get for your buck in a chippy. Lunchtimes and weekend tea times can be busy with a wait of around 10 minutes so bring the paper with you and chill your boots. Although they can be 10 verrrry long minutes when you're starving and surrounded by chips. Judging by the number of plaques on the walls, they have won a shed load of awards. Quite right too.

I got a small cheeseburger and small chip, which came to £4.80 which I thought was a bit expensive for all I got. It was busy and I had to wait a few minutes for my food, but not excessive waiting time. The counter staff were busy, but working hard. I had not been there for a couple of years until a couple of months ago I was driving by on a friday night around tea time. Its was busy and I thought that I would just leave it, but I decided to go on in anyway for nostalgias sake. I got my a battered sausage supper and some chicken goujons for my wife. The goujons were the kind that melt and and crumble in your mouth all at once. I couldn't believe what I had been missing all those years since school!!! Its is well known as being one of east Belfast's best chip shops. On the menu is all of the usual suspects burgers, fish, chicken and chips. Its a shame I don't live closer or I would frequent much more often.

I also had a vegetarian pastie which was amazing and very flavourful. Just the right amount of salt and vinegar on the food too and the potions are very generous. I found the prices similar to other chip shops around the area, with a pastie and large gravy chip costing around £5. As with a lot of chip shops there's not a huge vegetarian selection, however the pastie was so good I've already decided to try a pastie and salad bap on my return. Of course, there's always onion rings and I think the chips would be delicious with any sauce or topping. A perfect lazy-day dinner or hangover cure. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to The Sea Fry.

I decided to try Geogia's on Holywood High Street as there's always a queue and I've always wondered if it was actually worth waiting for. First thing I am going to say is the staff are great, there were 3 working when I went in and they seemed to be running a tight ship, each person had their job and they were performing their jobs to perfection. I asked if they took debit card but unfortunately they didn't. The chap working said I could place my order and go to the ATM further up the road and by the time I got back my food would be ready. He wasn't wrong because I came back to the shop just in time to answer the all important question, 'Do you want salt and vinegar?' The food itself was good, although not mind blowing. There's plenty of competition in this area for fish and chips so Georgia's always had a lot to live up to. I got a 'Cod Supper' - I got loads of chips (too many) but the fish portion wasn't huge although it was fried to perfection. The meal was enjoyable and I will definitely be back although I might try something different from their large menu.

On offer is everything you would expect from a chippy, fish, burgers, sausages, pasties, tooth-rotting fizzy drinks, kiddies and adults meal deals (all delicious) and of course, our old favourite, Chips! Not so delicious! All of their food is A-OK except, unfortunately, the good old staple itself, the chips. Now, this is only a matter of personal opinion, I like my chips big and chunky, not small and crispy!
