I would give a zero if possible! Let me first say I stayed there 2weekends ago and the room was fine, the bed was comfy and the ac was working on an 80 degree weekend! Room 105.
Went back alone without my husband for one nights stay, got Room 110. When you walk in the musty smell hit me in the face. It was hot even though AC at 68 degrees ,and it was 47 outside, and there was a patch that looked like a huge wet spot on the carpet. I was so tired I was willing to let it go.
After awhile I couldn't stand the heat and smell! I called the front desk and asked to get a different room and explained about the AC, didn't even mention the musty smell and the receptionist said she'll call out maintenance. A man gets in the phone and asks if any air coming out I said yes but you only feel it when putting your hand right on top of the vent. He said he'd be down to look at it.
He comes down and bumps the temp back to 61 and says "it's working , feel the air" I said it's not coming out unless you are right on top of the vent - I try to explain how we'd been in a different room and it was much better, louder- you could hear the ac running, this one you could not!
So I told him I'd just like another room and he refused because " the ac is working, you had it too hot in here". I told him I didn't touch the temp and you can only feel it when right over the unit. Again he refuses a new room. He's in the doorway and goes to leave, I go to turn in towards the room and swipe the door for it to go shut and he decides to turn around and come back in the room. He starts screaming at me that I slammed the door in his face, as he's screaming he's walking me back into the room where I am alone!
I tell him to get out of my room, he's screaming at me " Fuck you, get your shit and go, fucking bitch!". I shut the door and use the chain and the lock while I pack my stuff.
I call the front desk and ask the lady who came to my room? She says" it's the hotel manager". And then says " so you're leaving , right?" I said "yes and I want a full refund! ".
So after I pack up, I go to reception and she has it all ready for me to sign, I asked her the name of the man who came to my room and was told " I'm not giving you any information of any staff here". I said you won't give me his name yet you said he's the manager. I told her the way he treated me, a customer, a woman , is horrendous. She simply says " I did not witness anything". I can hear his loud mouth in The next room and he comes out . I asked his name and he refused to give it to me. He says " I told you to get your shit and get the fuck out. You are stupid"! I said " I'm stupid? How am I stupid, other than coming here for this harassment?".
He says " I showed you the ac was working and you're mad because I was right , you're a stupid bitch, get the fuck out". I look at the receptionist and said " well you are witness to it NOW!". She closed her eyes. He accused me again of slamming the door on him, was wagging his finger at me and kept saying " fuck you, get the fuck out". I went to get in my purse as I was going to videotape his tirade. I guess he figured what I was doing and came around the corner at me. I told him not to come near me, don't touch me. He was getting in my face behind the counter. He went back and started it again. I smacked the candy dish off the counter to get him away from me. He comes around again and follows me out the door, "get out you fucking bitch! ". I get in my car, lock the doors and he comes out again and says " that's vandalism" and I told him what he's doing is harassment!
I have never in my life been treated in suck a manor and this just makes me sad for humanity!!!
I went to a Red Roof Inn in Columbia and it was a total 360! The room was bright and fresh and clean . Ironically the ac unit was THE SAME and it WORKED. AND the price was the same ! They are pet friendly which was why we chose the other place the first week and decided to return!
As a woman traveling on my own and having that "man" ( bully more like) walk back into my room and shout such obscenities at me, I was frightened for MY safety!
I know that AADR recommends Walking Horse Lodge and I did tell the woman whom runs the shelter.
I have a small video of the man pacing behind on the counter. I decided NOT to put it on the internet even though I feel I should because that kind of inhuman treatment is unacceptable! This was also about 1 am in the morning and he's screaming out in the courtyard as he walks away screaming that I'm a " fucking bitch".
