The highway isn't too heavily traveled, so the sites are fairly quiet, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Tables, BBQ grills and fire rings...plus very clean vault toilets and running water. Being in view of the highway, the sites don't feel very secluded or private -- but that is more than made up for by the fact that directly across the highway is a little all-natural sandy-bottomed hot spring, right on the banks of the Payette River. As far as I know you can soak any time, day or night, in a little rectangular pool that used to be part of a bathhouse or something back in the day. We walked over from our campsite after dark, and hiked down for a very relaxing soak. This place is not hardcore, remote or rugged....but I still give it 5 stars because it's clean, beautiful and EASY! And sometimes, that's what you want! I would definitely stay here again...but if you don't want to camp out, you can use the springs for free by parking in the little day use lot at the trailhead, just across from the campground.

The bathrooms & showers kept clean. The staff were all very friendly, shout out to Sarah who was willing to help in any way she could. Including searching for some candles in her own home for a birthday celebration we had! She also drove through camp to see if we needed anything, like firewood! They have a nice pickleball court too! We did many walks throughout all the trails. They have a nice little store with gifts, ice cream, ice! I am giving them a 5 rating because they went well over my expectations:)

We arrived later than expected and didn't pull in until about 8:30pm (the office closed at 5pm) but immediately Wendy & her husband were there to get us checked in and personally escort us to our campsite!!! Now THAT is service. You can tell when you walk into the bathroom, showers, or laundry room that they work hard to keep everything maintained and in tip top shape. These are the cleanest "smaller" campground facilities I've ever experienced! There are MANY site options, and they're well maintained and the gravel is visibly raked and leveled out. Wow! We made some hot dogs over the fire and did a little walking around. The pool looks nice (we always saw a lot of people swimming). The staff was always nice and kind. They really seem dedicated to having a nice campground. We were really impressed by the camp kitchen. We didn't bring anything we needed to cook, (besides the hot dogs) so we didn't end up using it but it looked nice/useful. If we happen to find ourselves in this area again we will definitely use it! It even had a microwave! The bathrooms were always clean and had warm water for showers. The cabin itself was nice. We rented a 6 person cabin. It was roomy with a double bed and 2 sets of bunk beds. The beds had the classic cabin style mattresses, but not too bad. It had a little heater attached, which was nice when it got a little chilly in the evening. Overall a very pleasant and nice experience! (A personal favorite: the front porch swing on the cabin: such a cute touch)

Before we even got there, we called several times with all sorts of questions and they were patient and super helpful each time. Upon arriving, they were quick to help us and made sure we had all the gear (tubes, waterproof phone cases, drinks, ice, etc) to make our river float as comfortable and fun as possible! The ride to the river is very quick and on the way they provide plenty of pointers so you're sure to avoid any rough patches coming down the river. They handled loading and unloading our stuff for us, thank you! We will definitely be back and hope to stay overnight next time to take advantage of all they have to offer! If you do not like being next to the freeway, this campground is not for you. It did not bother us. We also take advantage of their half off rates during September. Thank you Wolf Lodge for that. Next, the campground has a lot of activities which we were not able to take advantage of. We were visiting friends in CDA and spent most of our time with them. I wish we had time borrow a canoe, hike and use the sauna. We had site number 12 a pull through with full hook ups. It is an end unit and we enjoyed it. The campsites in the center row have you facing the backside of another camper and it's hook ups. There are pull thrus, back in sites, tent sites, and adorable log cabins for rent. All sites come with a picnic table. There is a lot of shade. We felt very safe and even left our bicycles outside of our RV overnight.

DO NOT RENT BIKES from Lookout Pass!! The first bikes we tested out.. one had low air in tires and…read moretwo had brakes that did not work. The employee said "oh that doesn't matter" when we told him the brakes didn't work. We got to the trailhead, the first bike I tested out had a faulty chain- the employee was very kind and told me the chain was not working properly. The second bike tires felt unstable. The third bike, the seat flipped up. Luckily we were not in the tunnel yet and I was able to turn around. The employee told me the seat was new and no one tightened it. We waited almost two hours for the shuttle bus. Half the time we were on the bus waiting. The bus driver made jokes about how we had to wait in a hot bus. They would not let us leave even though there was another bus and trailer that arrived 30 minutes before we actually left. I was met with sarcasm and was told I was not waiting as long as we had. When we went through the tunnel back to the trailhead, my daughter's back tire locked up and she went flying off her bike hitting the muddy hard tunnel floor. Luckily, she only busted her mouth open. My husband had to walk the bike back. The back tire was immovable. Not one employee looked at the bike. They seemed not to be concerned. Their first aid ice pack did not work and had no ice and no way to help us. Bring your own bike and a full first aid kit!

The place isn't fancy-schmancy full of rules and regulations or restrictions....its about YOU enjoying YOUR visit. We were here overnight, got here late (9pm)...and continued our travels back home from Yellowstone to the Puget Sound area. We stayed at a couple KOA's, a Washington State Park, and several days in Yellowstone. THIS PLACE - HANDS DOWN - WAY WAY BETTER!!!! So....what's so great here: Host's....they treat ya like they actually care about your visit.....make sure you have anything you need. The site....functional, accessible, great for our truck & 24' trailer (water & electric)....excellent kept yard at our site, and the central area gazebo was nice. Coffee provided by the host's in the gazebo in the morning :) The facilities: Two huge home style showers with....get this...Too Much Water Pressure.....you have to turn the shower on just a little and enjoy an endless awesome non-water saving home style shower experience (Be sure to keep shower curtain inside the shower please!) Laundry is available....didnt use it, but it's also here How about a free latte or whatever drink you like at the espresso stand on-site!!!!.....yep, its included! Want an ice cream bar or popsicle out of the chest freezer in the office....bring your 50 cents... not the 1.50 at everywhere else! There is a family tent/car camping here with some dogs.....so the campground is obviously very pet friendly. Anyway.....my family (wife & 2 kids)....have been on the road for a week, and this has been THE BEST camping/overnight accomodations we've had. Oh ya.....I'm not going to post the cost for all this.....but 3 nights here or one night at the KOA in Powel, MT....I'll take this place every time. Dave, Olivia & the kidz.

We rode our bikes on the Hiawatha Route one day and on another day took a drive along the Clark Fork to Quinns (for lunch) and (by chance) Paradise (and toured through the old school - not to be missed!). Campground St. Regis proved to be a perfect place to base ourselves out of. Wifi is sketchy, but we didn't go there to be on our devices!
