So I chose to stay at The Jennings. I thought it would also be fun to stay in an historic building. And it is perfectly located at the center of town. I would definitely recommend folks stay here, as long as they understand that this hotel is different (it is not your typical hotel) and they're ok with that and want what this place does have to offer. They have a Minimalist vibe going on here. Both in terms of the room decorations and furnishings. As well as with the staff. There is no staff on site! So don't expect to be pampered like a traditional hotel. Communication is by email and they send you the code for the door and you simply let yourself in after check in time. So that is definitely different. I'm not sure of that approach is a thing in the hotel business these days but I've certainly never seen it before. It worked out ok in my case. Fortunately, I never needed anything. I'm not sure what it would be like if I did. The other thing to note about The Jennings is that most of the rooms do NOT have their own private bathroom. They share a common bathroom. There is one shared water closet and another shared water closet with a shower. This is not unusual for hotels in historic buildings. However, a few rooms DO provide a private bathroom so read those room descriptions carefully so you know what you're getting! There's also a shared sauna with a cold plunge shower. The other big thing to note about The Jennings is that it is NOT a place for kids. Their policy asks to avoid bringing kids under 12 years of age. Best to respect that. They'd be bored here. They do provide WiFi but there are no TVs in the rooms. I think that is a plus! I stayed in Room 5 1/2. It's a great room for one or two people and it does provide a private bathroom. The bathroom is a bit small but well furnished. It also has a shower which I greatly appreciated after a long day hiking. Some early reviews complained about lack of air conditioning. They fixed that! My room contained units for both A/C and heat. It also had a ceiling fan and a small fan on the table. The bed was top notch and very comfy. I did not hear any street noise. Most of the rooms overlook the side streets, not main street. So that helps avoid the noise. I also had no problem with noise from any of the adjacent rooms. There is also a shared kitchen that provides a refridgerator, oven, sink, dishwasher, plates, utensils, and coffee maker. There is no microwave. There's also a large table to eat at. And there's a small couch to sit in front of a (gas?) fireplace Oh and don't forget the balcony! The hotel is on the second floor of this building. And there's a large balcony that looks over Main street and provides an awesome view of the mountains. Overall, the space and furnishings are elegant, nothing cheap about anything. It's just Minimalistic. And historic. And there's no staff on site. I wish them well!

the heat was not working, due to a wiring issues. the breaker needed flipped which is never a good…read moresign, as in, if you need to switch the breaker to turn on the heater you're overloading your system. but the heat never came on. i asked two direct questions "how will i know when it's working" and "how long will it take to turn on" and while it is NOT on the owner looks me in the face and says, "it's on it's just really quiet". i was given a space heater and the heat never worked. i was offered another room, i didn't take it because it seemed like the issue was with the internal wiring and not the heater itself. i was like, uhh so do i want to burn or freeze to death tonight? was told upon asking for mediation that "it sounds like we may not be the right fit for you" and yes, they aren't, because i had the audacity to expect a room to be properly heated in february lol. but it seems like the building has been up for sale for years now, i hope he isn't letting it fall in to disrepair in retaliation for making a bad investment. if that's the case, please don't treat your customers like they're the enemy because they're all you got from going under, buddy! edit: i left the part out where before reaching out to me about the heater the owner watched my insta stories (so creepy) and deleted my comment about the heater. i've since been blocked on their account for pointing out the heater :/

A very cheerful person helped us and answered all our questions. The hotel is centrally located making it easy to walk to restaurants and stores. We were traveling with our medium sized dog so it was important to me that she was comfortable as well. We were given a room with a fenced patio and gas fireplace plus and a great view of the mountains. The "backyard" field was perfect for potty breaks and watching the sunset. The fee for having a dog is $25-very reasonable. I am SO picky about pillows that I usually bring my own, but the quality of the bedding was AMAZING! The King bed was so comfortable I think I slept in the same spot! Clean! So, so clean!! The housekeeping here is no joke-everything was sparkling! Amenities like shampoo, conditioner and hair dryer were available. The shower provided amazing water pressure-the good kind, not the piercing water pressure some showers can have, I was heaven! This place was remodeled recently. The furniture was thoughtful-the side table was an old trail sign and the coffee station provided handmade ceramic mugs-nice touch! Thanks for the stay!

Quiet location and very walkable to the shops, restaurants, etc. However the walls seem a bit thin as I could hear the neighbors on one side of us. I dinged them a star for no place to hang clothes and no surface to place personal items in bathroom. That said, I would still stay here again.

Conveniently located, close to town, trails, etc.-The bungalow was perfectly suited for us- offering beauty, privacy, friendliness, generosity, comfort, peace, quiet, just to name a few things! You absolutely cannot beat the view out the front door and porch and everything you could possibly need for your stay is provided with a sincere commitment to quality. Ideal for a couple or single travelers with or without a dog. If you enjoy the company of animals, there are horses on the premises to visit with too. As a result of staying at Little Ranch B & B, we will be back to Joseph, for sure.

Updating my previous review based on how this motel is handling the scamdemic situation…read more Many businesses have gone under over this idiocy and others have gone to insane lengths to accommodate tyrannical orders that have no basis in scientific fact. This place, in contrast has made lemonaid out of lemons so to speak. The room was great, as always. The staff was great, as always. They no longer have a breakfast buffet.... most motels have stopped offering it while not reducing their room rates. The Eagle's view came up with an interesting solution. You fill out a menu of what you want in the morning and when you'll show up and hot coffee and all the goodies you ordered are waiting when you get there. Being a big eater I was concerned that the portions would be skimpy. But the gal working the b'fast really heaped on the food. It was great! This motel has always been the best lodging in town (by far). Always stay here when we're in town.

We enjoyed a two hour leisurely breakfast while making new friends with the other guests. And sure could have downed our breakfast and been out of there in 15 minutes, but this is one of those hunting lodges that just makes you want to kick back and stay a while. The lodge was built by the current owner, who ran a custom home business, and the grand lodge design was really well thought out, the rooms were really spacious, and we loved how the rooms above wrapped around the big open style living room. This retreat is situated above the river in a truly picturesque high desert landscape.

Off the Gondola, walk 3 miles to all camera and binocular ready view lookouts of mountains in all directions and lake below. Lush green vegetation and scents of alpine high. See a parsley - only one of its kind in the world. Watch out for chipmunks - really too friendly - one hopped on my shoe - the little bugger looked up with craving eyes for a handout. If you're thinking about it - it does cost 50 bucks - and worth every dollar. The pictures in your photo album will be mind blowing memories for a Wallowa lifetime.

I'm not afraid of height but found this part kind of exciting. There was still a fair amount of snow, and some mud at the top which limited our ability to hike all around but we did make it to the Royal Purple viewpoint and the overlook east of it. The views were amazing! I didn't realize until I went to make this post that I didn't take many pictures once up there - I was just so captivated by the beauty of the experience.
