Of the Walmarts in this area- this is lower tier. Bottom Line Up Front: Go to Kingstown if you feel you must go to a Walmart. Target is close enough that I'll drive the three miles to the TARGET to avoid going in here unless it's absolutely necessary. Lines are slow, the aisles are not kept clear or clean, and there is just a feeling of "grimy" all over this store. Even in the McDonalds inside- which I will never go to again- I felt it. Ugh. Is it Walmart priced (meaning cheap for the basics you need)? Yes. I got my daughter a bike for her birthday here because she wanted one she saw here on the rack. But it was a navigation exercise getting the bike down and then through the aisles to the front of the store- where the clerk could not use the pricing gun to allow us to purchase the bike. Pretty typical Walmart in terms of selection and pricing. It's 24 hours also, but they close the main entrance and majority of the registers after midnight. They also start restocking around then, so it's difficult to get around sometimes. I've never really had a problem with parking, but I've never come here when the sun was still up so that could be it. The employees here are the worst though. They will pretend like you're not there, intentionally avoiding eye contact or speeding up to avoid you. If you do manage to corner one, they will answer in short, almost rude sentences. Usually when you ask a worker for help locating an item, they will guide you to it. Here, I've often gotten "I don't know" or "We don't carry that" (even when I know that they do). Granted, there are a few exceptions to this but I've found this to be the general rule of thumb here. The cashiers here are so slow also. They have an express lane, and if you are under the item limit, I do suggest you go. In some stores, the express lanes don't make much of a difference, but here they really do. The cashiers aren't any faster, but not having to be behind a line of people with a cart-worth of items really does speed things up. Don't even try to return things here. I made that mistake once and spent almost an hour in line. I saw that there were only three people in front of me, and I thought that it wouldn't take long at all. I was so wrong. Despite two people working at returns, it took so long to get everything done. I honestly have no idea why. I went to return some notebooks and, without my receipt, finished in less than five minutes. Maybe the people in front of me just wanted someone to compain at. I have no diea. The store isn't very organized and there are a lot of things on the ground here. Sometimes you'll find products on the ground, sometimes you'll find garbage. You'll even find a kid or two if you stay long enough. If you're feeling a bit sadistic, I would recommend heading to this Walmart. If not, unless you have an unlimited amount of patience and insanely high tolerance for uselessness, I would avoid this place. Make a trip to a different Walmart if you can. read more

Received poor service. I went to pick up my pictures I had ordered online. I stood at the pick up area for several minutes trying to find someone to help me. Then the person who was trying to find my order looked around and could not find my order and just shrugged his shoulder. Not satisfied, I asked to see the manager, and he came over, opened one of the drawers right in front of that guy and pulled my order out. I would have been ok with it, but the attitude was not so good. It appeared that I was the problem and that I was bothering them by trying to find my order. Horrible customer service. I ordered two posters that were supposed to be ready that day. Got an email saying they wouldn't be ready. Which is fine and I understand. Then I never received an email on the progress. I tried to call 3 times and the phone kept disconnecting because no one answered. I had to call corporate to have the order cancelled. This is by far the worst Wal-Mart store I've ever had the opportunity to visit. If it weren't for a couple very helpful and friendly employees in the electronics section, I would have rated the store a "one." I can not believe that corporate allows this Wal-Mart to operate the way it does. The carts are awful and the store is always dirty. As previously noted, the lines are usually very long - with few registers open, at that. On two occasions I have purchased products to find out once I arrived home that items had been used and returned - and resold to me. Wth?!?! I have never seen a Walmart set up like this. It's like a grocery store with Walmart built around it. Busy! Busy! Busy! Is there a time of day that stores aren't busy? We are new to the area so we wandered around for a bit just getting our bearings.... We got trapped in a "traffic jam" coming around a corner people on all three sides in small isles with no one willing to move their butts out of the way. Spacious parking lot to start with. Store seemed to be very clean and I kept seeing associates on the floor which was surprising because that's not how most Walmart is. Everything was organized and flow of the store was good. Good space between aisles and merchandise for the cart to stroll through with no problem. This Wal-Mart does require patience. The parking lot is normally packed tight, the lines are normally incredibly long (particularly on weekends),and it's a very busy place to be. However, I love how they have options of buying already chopped up veggies and fruits. They chop your onions for you so you don't have to so that's definitely an A in my book! I don't know what to say about this. I went to Walmart early today to buy pepperoni. When they got rung up, they said they couldn't give me exact change so I wanted to put the pepperoni back. The cashier wouldn't let me and said "You want it" and still charged me for them. Then she short changed me. I had to wait 10 minutes in customer service just to get the rest of my change. This was just horrible customer service from the cashier. This Walmart opened in southeastern Fairfax County nearly 20 years ago. And I can't say I'm surprised with all the negative Yelp reviews for this Walmart -- poor customer service, long check-out lines, and staff for whom English is not the native tongue. I have grown accustomed to long check-out lines and dealing with employees who had to pass an ESL course to get a job in the USA. Indeed, I am fortunate in stating that I have rarely had trouble with Walmart sales associates. My main reason for shopping at this Walmart is to stock-up on Equate (general health) and Great Value (grocery) items. I came with a item # since the item was on sale said In stock online and even got confirmation from another Walmart saying they had it, when I went to ask for the tv the lady didn't even bother to ask me what type of tv I said I'm here for an element tv and said they don't sell it. She told me she wasn't going to look in the back and to fix it with customer service, I went there. The lady herself saw it said in stock and called to see if there was the tv the lady on the other side of the phone was saying she didn't wanna sell the tv and to say there wasn't any in stock. IF THE MANAGER WERE TO EMAIL ME DIRECTLY AND GIVE ME A FREE LPG TANK FOR MY TROUBLES, I STILL WOULD NEVER SHOP AT THIS STORE AGAIN. I called ahead of time and spoke to a manager and asked about returning an off-size LPG tank for a regular LPG tank. They said it was no problem, just bring the tank and they'll exchange it. So I drove a half hour each way to exchange my tank for a bar-b-que later in the afternoon. The guy who was helping us was named, Mohammad, gave me a bunch of stink about the tank. I told him I spoke with the manager who said it was fine. Then he gets on the radio to speak with "Joe." Asks for him to come out. We're told to wait 5 minutes. I'm in a hurry, and fortunately "Joe" didn't take all 5 minutes to get out. When he did, he said they would not exchange the tank. I told him I called before and he said well, they won't exchange it and sorry you were given bad information. I asked for his name and he refused to give it to me. I said, I wanted to know who I was speaking with when I call back and complain that the store wouldn't exchange the tank. He said pugnaciously, "well, I don't wanna give you my name." Rude, condescending, not helpful. I wasted an hour of my day to give my business to a store that clearly doesn't know their product, their policies, or customer service. Thanks but no thanks. This Walmart is so run down probably thanks to the rude shoppers that go here. I see people ditching perishable goods all over the place and I am pretty sure the words 'excuse me' aren't used very much here. By far the worst Walmart I have ever see anywhere. The workers that work here are for the most part very nice and honestly way nicer than the shoppers. Just like the DC area it's a melting pot for sure and many people don't speak English and really don't care. Rude is rude in any language. The diary frig smells so bad that it makes you half sick. One of THE worst Walmart's to shop at I am seriously frustrated EVERY time I visit so I try to stay away as much as possible. Unfortunately, it's the nearest Walmart but when I can, I try to go to the Kingstown center or just shop at Target. Everywhere from the bathrooms to checkout lanes I feel every visit is unpleasant. My most recent shopping experience involved visiting customer service because I needed a price match an item. I've never price matched before so in not sure exactly how it works but all I know is that target had the SAME EXACT item and sold it for less so I asked if we could match and how it was done. They asked me for an ad but I told them that the item was priced for $19.99 and Walmart hat them for $22.99 and it was an everyday price (so it wasn't in the ad) she asked again for an ad and I said I didn't have one so she said NO. I then asked, "no what?" she said "no, we don't price match for you." I asked why and what I needed to do to prove to them that target sold them at a lower price. She again said "no, we don't do it that way." I asked her to explain because I was confused but she said "no, can't do" and literally walked away. I may have been wrong but all I wanted was to understand why they couldn't price match. In the SAME shopping experience, I went to the fabric section where I had previously purchased a staple gun because I needed more staples. After having some trouble locating the staples I found an employee and told her that I bought a stable gun to reupholster some table chairs and needed more staples. She looked at me confused then I explained again, she then sent me to stationary where I realized that she sent me to find staples for an actual office desk stapler. By this time I was extremely frustrated. I went back to the fabric section, looked in the area where I purchased my staple gun and finally found them! I then went to the employee and explained to her that she sent me to the wrong place and that there were staples for a staple gun in her department. She looked at me as if I were crazy! I mean, even after I explained to her I would be reupholstering some chairs she still sent me somewhere else! Checkout lines are even worse, lines are long, cashiers are not at all friendly and it just seems like no one cares about your time or experience. It also doesn't help that NO ONE seems to speak or understand English. Just all together very frustrating and not the place to be. I avoid this particular Walmart at all costs because my experiences seem to be more frustrating and customer service is obviously not what they aim for. read more

This Walmart is trash. If you go in after 7 pm the isles are blocked with U-boats and pallets of merchandise, the later you go in the worse it is. You can't access what you went in to purchase. Don't think about needing employee assistance, IF you find one they are ignorant and know nothing about where anything is located. It's even worse in the electronics section, if you want to purchase something that's locked or oversized there are no employees that can help. When you finally find an employee, they can't help and takes another 30 minutes to find someone. (Go to Target) Don't even think of opening the doors to the milk case, which is one continuous isle. It smells rancidly horrible. About 2 months ago I needed coffee creamer, I opened the door and threw up. I spoke to the manager and called the health department. Question, has the issue been addressed, probably not. Lazy employees. I have to address checking out. Since they added more self-check out isles, its improved somewhat. Don't even think about checking out in the lawn and garden. There is usually only one cashier. Patrons often have a shopping cart(s) full of items and with one cashier who doesn't care to call for back-up is just horrible customer service. Speaking of the lawn and garden, be very careful they have critters. About 2 years ago my son and I were entering through this entrance around 4 in the afternoon, the time here is important. As we were entering there was a SKUNK, it ran right in front of us. I had to phone the store manager, because again, there was no employee around. I advocated for every shopper and employee until the manager reluctantly closed the lawn and garden section. A skunk out in the daylight could have rabies and besides that if it got into the main store, panic and, well, skunk. This is the most horribly atrocious Walmart I've ever been in. Not only is the inside dirty with lazy un-caring and un-customer oriented workers the outside is poorly lit (not good in a crime ridden neighborhood) and filthy. Go to the Walmart down the other end of Richmond Highway or shop at Target 2 miles down the road its clean, great customer service and an all around better shopping experience. This place is beyond disgusting. Lines are insanely long, items are often damaged or are missing pieces/parts and the staff is not helpful. I don't know what planet the people that come into this place beamed down from, but count me out. There's always seems to be large groups of people walking around, not doing anything but just simply walking around in a wal-mart and making trouble. Winning crowd. You need a car alarm to park at this place. You can expect to have a conversation with a vagrant or someone selling speakers before you make it in the building if you park too far away. We came early on a Saturday. This is a bigger store than what we have in Burke, VA. It's clean and neat, but not a Super Walmart. The refrigerators are mostly empty. My husband picked a storage plastic box that does not have a sticker on it. The cashier sent him go back to the floor to pick up another one instead of having another employee to help. I asked another woman employee where the soft soap is and she sent me to the wrong place. I walked around for several times before I saw her again, and she said "I told you... it's over there...." which is not the same place where she told me before. Adopted a kid from angel tree who wanted a specific toy Walmart carried. They were all out of stock but this Walmart (7910 Richmond Hwy) said if I ordered in online for "pick up" that it would be fulfilled that evening with the incoming truck. I placed the order online and waited for the email / text that it was ready - the site said it would be ready by 4:45pm. No info ever came. The next day it said it was still processing the order with no updates, so I stopped in about 2pm when I was in the area, reluctantly. **I tried to call the Pick Up extension at Walmart and they literally picked up the phone and hung it up. I called back and it rang off the hook, twice. I waited two hours and tried again, twice - it continued to ring off the hook.** I went into the store and stood in line for 20 minutes (what I was avoiding by ordering the "pick up") to be told it was "still being processed" and that they had no information. I told them it said it would be ready the day prior -- they said that they didn't have any in stock or the back, don't know when they will, and that their promised "will be ready time" isn't really anything they use because it's based on their bad inventory...and they only have one person that does "pick ups" and he's busy. So, I could either keep waiting for an unknown amount of time (b/c they can't look up when their next shipment of the toy is) - or cancel the order. So, thanks Walmart. I have a few days to find this little guy some Christmas gifts and you wasted 48 hours of that with BS promises, bad/worthless phone service, and useless employee customer service. And this is why I HATE Walmart and shop elsewhere if at all possible. Bottom line: The Pick Up service is worthless unless you have an open-ended amount of time for them to fill your order, whenever they get around to it and its convenient-- because your time and their promises certainly don't matter. It's severely understaffed so you WILL wait a long time in line --any line. I purchased five $100 gift cards and asked for a gift receipt for each. The clerk acknowledged my request. But when the sale rang up there were no gift receipts! Huh? I asked her about it and she showed me the receipt where she requested them but they didn't print. She said, "I don't know why they didn't print." And...how about a solution? Nope...just handed me back my receipt and started ringing up the next customer...no even a "sorry" as I was summarily sent on my way! This is a depressing place, whenever I come in here I have to fight the urge to slit my wrists... I live near here and use this Walmart to get my money orders to pay my rent, and usually if I'm lucky I'll only wait 30 min, and one out of the 3 people will be taking customers, but on really bad days all 3 will be talking on the phone or doing their makeup/nails etc. The place is dirty and unorganized and always has been, and you're lucky if you can find someone to help you, let alone that speaks English. I just had an item# from the Walmart.com. Im on hold, whole time driving to the store. I ended up driving to the store walking straight to where the baby strollers were and maneuvering my way back to the front with the stroller, then I hung up on my cell phone. Anyway, I went to the pharmacy yesterday to fill a prescription for my 5 year old son. they told me it would be ready in 1 hour. I returned one hour later and they informed me that they did not have the medication in stock. this was very inconvenient for me as I rearranged my schedule to wait for his prescription. all the lady could say was sorry we don't have it. and that she did not take my order. I told her next time she should inform customers if they have a medication or not so they don't waste peoples time. also I would like to say that the Walmart in Kingstowne is the complete opposite. it is very nice and organized. read more

I prefer this Walmart over the one closer to where I live mostly because nobody has ever yelled at me here, I am not afraid to go after dark and there is always plenty of parking. You know what I really dig about this one? They still have a photo center and that's a major bonus for someone who still likes to put together photo albums! I also was able to order some 8x10s for a Christmas present without having to wait for them to be shipped to my house. They also have some pretty clever and very reasonably priced photo gifts like calendars, ornaments, mugs, etc. I'm definitely going to do that for next year. Also, when I accidentally sent the wrong family photo (from my phone so I couldn't really see it well), they allowed me to submit the right one there and then. They didn't charge me for the others and printed the right ones right then and there and with a pleasant smile and demeanor. Seriously. Much love for that! read more

This is my local Walmart that I've been going to for many years with my dad to look for ammo and get just about everything. The people at this Walmart mostly don't Speak English or care about there job, they (no offense to anyone I'm just telling it how it is) red eyed Africans. They will not help you in the slightest unless u confront them. Yesterday when we went to buy ammo it was simply impossible because there was no one around, I will give them credit for having a button that you press to get help but after pressing it at least 50 times and 20 minutes later me and three others just have up.
