It's been almost a year since my Toyota Camry has been in the shop here, but I still think about…read morethe service I received every time I get in it to drive. I went in to get a quote for a torque converter replacement and spoke to the owner or manager (I'm not sure which). He seemed extremely trustworthy and knowledgeable. He even told me his entire family has driven Camry's and he's very familiar with them. I already had a diagnostic for the torque converter from Don Moore, but he'd never heard of Camry's having torque converter issues, so he did some quick research on an online vehicle forum, and was surprised to see a few others with the same issue. He wanted one of his technicians to run their own diagnostic to be sure before completing such a big, mechanical job as such. The diagnostic costed over $100, and they confirmed the issue with the torque converter. The quote came out to $1000. Once I decided to do the repair through Fast Lane, we got my car scheduled, I dropped it off on Sunday evening, and they told me I'd have it back in my possession before Thanksgiving that following Thursday. Come Thanksgiving Day, I still hadn't heard from them, so I called on Friday and asked for an update. I was told the technician was running behind, but he planned to stay late that day, Friday, to have it finished up for me to pickup Saturday morning. I call Saturday morning, the car still isn't ready to be picked up because they'd like to cold start and test drive it. They're closed on Sundays, meaning I wouldn't be able to pick it up until Monday. At this point, I was irritated, but hoping the wait would mean a job well done. Monday rolls around, guess whose car STILL wasn't ready! Tuesday, they finally give me a call saying it's ready for pickup. I couldn't go then, so Wednesday morning, I got up and went straight there. As soon as I put my hand on my gear shifter, I realized it was bent. Yes, bent. It wasn't like that when I dropped it off, but I thought okay I guess? But, when I tried to shift into reverse, the shifter got "stuck" almost, and wouldn't move further. I would've had to tug it with my entire arm strength, which most likely would've snapped it in half. I never had any previous issues with the gear shifter, in the slightest, until my car was under Fast Lane's care. I put the vehicle right back into park and walked my ass right back inside. I let the receptionist know my concern, and she had the technician go take another look. I kid you not, he "resolved" the problem in a matter of 3 minutes, handed me my keys, and assured me everything was fine, I would just have to pull a little. I didn't leave my car in that condition, so I truly don't understand in what world, why I picked it up in that condition, unless the technician did something wrong. Not only that, but my gear shifter is VERY clearly BENT. Every time I move the gear shifter now, I have to use much more force than before, and the wiring underneath sounds like it's tugging or rubbing very tightly against something. I'm not the technician, so hell, I don't know. I do it's extremely frustrating and disappointing, and I will never, ever bring a vehicle of mine to this shop again, nor will I recommended it to anybody. To charge people thousands of dollars and lead them to believe their vehicle will be in good care, you should be ashamed when your business fails to do their part. Spend the extra couple hundred to have the dealerships do your repair work. I promise you the headaches and run-a-rounds are not worth your time or money.
