Let's get real about Walmart. The store is what it is so I'm not going to comment on anything but the inherent hardship of getting the hell out. Their internal algorithms insist that at any given time their registers remain unmanned so you're forced to wait for Godot or try your hand at the self-checkout where scanning wands always malfunction causing me to raise a well earned and robust middle finger to the arsenal of surveillance cameras in this space. The time suck here is always groceries. When Walmart was just a soft and durable goods store customers waded through the checkout line with six or seven items. Now that groceries rule you're almost always stuck behind a wagon train of grocery carts all filled to the brim. And don't get me started on the single shopper who's filling the list for six of their friends and needs it all rung separately. Frankly, it's all amusing but I don't have 60 minutes to kill gazing at their multi-tasking marketplace ballet. So hey Walmart, why not try a few non-grocery lanes or everyone's favorite the less than ten item express lane. They've only been around for fifty years or so. I suggest that Walmart management be more present within this store. I have never seen a retail store where the associates/employees do what ever and speak to customers how ever they want. The customer experience with employees is horrible. The store overall appearance is okay. They are always out of stock on items, lines can be long and confusing to customers. They should have a team lead / front-end supervisor monitor the lines as other retailers. Also to note, they should keep bags at all times for shoppers that do not have bags. Came here with hubby once on a Saturday late morning as I was in the area to pick up family. Was early to meet family, so we stopped by to browse; ended up buying a cute mini pumpkin. Large, busy and crowded. Lines were sort of organized and moved slow. It also deterred me from buying anything else when I saw the line... but I already had the pumpkin in my hand. This one of my favorite places to do my grocery shopping in the Bayonne area (along with Costco). Decent variety of products, good prices, quick automated check out, and friendly staff. They offer everything a grocery store would offer in addition to household items, car related products and even some sporting and camping gear not to mention electronics. Prices are much better compared to Stop and Shop and Shop Rite. Also, there's plenty of parking. read more

This has to be the worst Walmart in history. The employees are of absolutely no help. You can't get any assistance. Pallets and boxes blocking walking spaces. I understand the need to restock but find better times to do so (before/after hours). More cashiers are needed, the lines consistently go deep down the aisles. Like how worse can a Walmart be? we went in today and it was packed with people and then I tried to find the chicken nuggets I wanted to eat, and they were out of stock of meat and everything else. They had nothing to eat at all, and the lines were packed. there were people everywhere and every time I try to step foot forward everybody kept moving around me like shouldn't there be a max limit for a store? This Walmart is always packed and all of their meat is sold out. They don't even have enough breakfast sandwiches or frozen foods and they don't restock anything. I am not a fan of leaving low star reviews, but the walmart in Bayonne is not that great. The positive is that prices on most items are good at Walmart. Also, there is plenty of parking spaces here. However, the inside of the store was poorly designed, and feels small compared to other walmarts. Walking around this store, you are always running into someone, whether it is another customer with a shopping cart, an employee who is stocking shelfs, or just extra storage items just placed in the middle of asiles instead of stored in the back. I wish this walmart was larger, like the secaucus one. You would then have less problems here. Because of the size of this store vs how many people shop here, there is always long lines, which run all along the concourse and through aisles. I have been to all of the Walmarts in the area and the Bayonne Walmart is the worst: 1.) all of the food aisles are clogged with "impulse buy" merchandise or stock on pallets; the aisles are narrow to begin with. It is very difficult to move through the store-you are either stuck behind another customer or have to wait for a customer to go by before you can proceed. Totally unnecessary and makes it exhausting to shop; it also indicates that they don't care about the customer. Other Walmarts do not have this issue. 2.) they used to have 10-15 self checkouts. For some reason they have reduced this to 8; when I was last there, two were inoperable so there were only 6 self checkouts; why would you reduce the number of self checkouts? especially when there are lines for the regular checkouts. 3.) all in all a very poorly managed store. Great prices. Happy customers UNTIL they get to the check out. Why is it EVER single time I get to the cash register something ALWAYS happens. I know they don't have the damn dividers. I don't know if its their way of making the cashier ALWAYS fail. NOPE its not..... I walked up to the line and waited patiently. My two friends paid and then when I handed her the towel and I said "that's all", she then proceeded to ring up five more items of the women's behind me. Did you not hear me? One of the crappiest wal marts yet convenient to my house. The store is small with limited stock. It's usually wiped out of basics on Saturday and Sunday. You know what also really annoys me about them? They close all of the express checkouts and don't offer other options. Once, it was super cold. I get it those cashiers are right in front of the door so I asked at customer service the woman behind the desk if she could check me out and she said no. I had two things, seriously? So I spoke to the manager because hey yelp isn't the only place you hear from me. So she takes me back to customer service and the woman checks me out. Never will I step foot in this Walmart ever again. When this Walmart first opened it was organized, clean and the employees were nice but for the last year this Walmart has been messy, un-stocked and all the employees are rude and unwelcoming. It's very obvious when interacting with any employee that they do not want to be there. The other night I walked in at 10:00pm to look for a few items since they didn't close until 11:00pm. At 10:20pm an employee shouted that the store closed in 20 minutes. That was fine until at 10:25pm a different employee shouted that the store was closing in 10 minutes. A minute later as I was looking at a few Halloween decorations another employee shouted that the store was closing right then. I began to make my way towards the check out (obviously annoyed since it wasn't even 10:30!) when an employee began yelling at me that the registers were closing right now and that if I wanted to make it I had to run. While I was scanning my items all the employees were yelling at each other to tell everyone to "get the fuck out" and that "The store is fucking closed". It was 10:40pm and when other customers were trying to enter the store (since online and on the door it says they close at 11) the employees were literally yelling at these people that the store is closed and to leave. Every time I've entered this Walmart for the past year the employees are cursing, either purposely ignoring me when I've asked a question about where an item is located or simply had no idea where it was, and making other employees do tasks for them (such as unlocking make-up products or spray paint. Several times I've asked for something to be unlocked and an employees gets another employee to do it and then that employee says they'll get someone else to do it and so on). Everything about this Walmart is disgusting. If it's not the employees giving you an attitude it's other customers. This Walmart is incredibly trashy and most of the people who shop here are too. P.S. there are only ever three actual checkout lanes open no matter how busy and long the lines are and after about 9pm the self-checkout is the only thing open and they're card only. read more

They have an announcement in their parking lot that mentions how their employees are "practicing" what they announce as "hand santizing," whatever that is. I am not a fan of Walmart, and I especially hate the Walmart in Bayonne except for the In Store Delivery Section. Valance is especially awesome. I have had multiple packages delivered there, and he always remembers my husband and I. They are attentive and friendly and helpful. On Saturday the 23rd I purchased a galaxy s5 from the electronics department of this store. WHen I opened the box later, inside was a TOTALLY different phone. I paid 360 dollars and inside the box was the wrong item. When I attempted to return the phone, I was insulted by the assistant manager Cathy, mocked for being upset/distressed (I had been trying to return the phone for 2 days at this point) . I was told this was my problem, I would not be given a refund or store credit. I paid this company almost $400 of my hard earned money, was scammed QUITE POSSIBLY by an inside job in their own store, and they refused to take any responsibility for what happened. I have called walmart corporate headquarters as well as my credit card company, due to being effectively ripped off by this so called "business". Please be VERY careful buying any expensive item here - the store managers will abuse you and simply assume they can steal your money when they swindle you by selling you a box with the wrong merchandise inside. Absolutely awful, dreadful treatment. As a corporation you are liable for the merchandise you sell an innocent customer. If the product inside the box is damaged, missing, incorrect, that is YOUR responsibility as the merchant. Please be very careful shopping here! The managers absolutely will try to levy costs of their false/damaged goods onto you, and do their best to avoid culpability . I've also attempted to speak with the head manager Milton. He simply does not take calls or return calls. There is no real management at this store, and they will do their best to try to rip you off to avoid taking responsibility for the damaged/incorrect merchandise they sell you. read more
