Harris Teeter stopped delivering groceries in their refrigerated trucks after members paid for the service. Now they want us to Instacart not only tip the driver but your groceries are now driven around in someone car which could be hours increasing the chance of the your food poisoning and spoiling. One bacteria doubles every 20 seconds food that needs to refrigerated should be 40 degrees not sitting out. Bad decision for Harris Teeter. I will not renew my membership. I go to this store at LEAST once a week. The check out and management, stocking staff, and other departments are all very helpful. Today I checked out with Rita, and Daniel was bagging (he also helped me find an odd item that was in stock, but obscure-Ghee). Very helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Even the manager, whose name I regret I did not get (my bad). Love the senior discount on Thursdays, too! Sometimes they are so busy, carts are scarce. Harris Teeter is an ok store, they have a nice fish and meet selection and always have our preferred cat litter when other stores do not. Off and on we have enjoyed the pizza which is cooked fresh and is really affordable. The problem with Bowie is that you cannot count on a pizza person to be available so we have to go elsewhere. We went today 19 December around 4-430pm. There was a pizza person after we stood there for 10 minutes and had to go find him in the deli. Bottom line the pizza was woefully undercooked to the point of being gooey and difficult to eat. We won't be getting pies there anymore. It's also ridiculous for a line of 20 people waiting on self serve checkout on a Friday before Christmas. read more

This Location is by far the Best grocery store, it's always a person to help you!, even if they don't work in a specific department. I enjoy coming here because they get you in, bagged up and out the door! There's always a person on a register enough to whereas it's never two lines opened and it's lines down every aisle and you only have two cashiers, carts full of picked over items aren't left parked somewhere in the middle of the store or outward in an aisle for customers to run into. The store is always kept clean and neat the Food is always fresh, shelves stocked well. I've come here enough to say Alonte gives such wonderful customer service every time!. He's very patient , thoroughly investigates a wrong to correct it properly and does so in a respectable, professional manner, no matter how long it may take he doesn't act unprofessional unlike other grocery stores where they may act bothered or irritated because it's taking their time away to help. The customer service like that & everyone being there to be of assistance at any department any part of the day, along with a greatly presented store front keeps the customer coming back! I deciders to check it out today 1/3/24, updated it , and nope , still a disaster . It wants me to have items delivered but has me in a state I've never lived in , I updated my address AGAIN and when I clicked to see the weekly flyer it's requested me for my current location !!!! I'm no longer a fan. I was treated like I had done something wrong when I left my cart for 45 seconds to go grab an onion from the produce section before checking out. My cart was wheeled up to the customer service desk by an employee and I was told that my groceries were going to be put back on the shelf because I had left the cart unattended. When I tried to explain to the front-end manager why I had left my cart, she rudely cut me off and wouldn't let me finish my sentence. Horrible customer service. There was a long line at customer service and workers just walked by without coming to help. The Starbucks are out of a lot of things but there's no sign saying it. Out of lids for hot drinks. Out of sandwich that was displayed on the shelf. So I ordered my drink cold with saying "no ice". When I got my drink, ices were in it. I told the barista i would like my money back. She referred me to the customer service. I stood in line to get my money back and workers just took their sweet time helping each other. If you are going to have Starbucks in your store then train them. The coffee I ordered yesterday was horrible. It didn't even remotely look like what I ordered. Let me start by saying that this is by far the most expensive grocery store in our area. And I also want to clarify that this review is largely based on the experience shopping in the store. Ordering online and picking up has been a great experience. The staff for this is lovely. Shopping in the store...not so much. They are often out of what I need, or don't carry it, and the staff is polite, but unfriendly and seemingly disinterested in making customers feel welcome. This is surprising based on the high prices. The tiny checkout stands which seem typical pf HT are also a mistake. Such an unpleasant option for in store shopping that we drive to Whole Foods in Annapolis whenever possible. read more

I don't ordinarily write reviews about grocery stores because I feel people already have their own preference and they're going to shop where they feel most comfortable and can afford. However, I felt the need to write this review due to the recent COVID-19 Pandemic and the positive experiences I've received at this Harris Teeter. I've shopped at this location numerous times for catering needs, odds and ends, or specialty items, but I swear HT has been heaven sent during this less than pleasant time. Since I've been doing the shopping for my household as well as my elderly parents, it's been rather difficult to do a "one-stop shop" kind of shopping experience, but Harris Teeter has made it almost manageable. The majority of the aisles have been stocked, the produce has been fresh, and unlike most places, I can actually find frozen vegetables. SN: why are all of the frozen vegetables gone in every other store...come on people! Anyway, I digress. Gourmet cheese section, bakery, deli, Starbucks, and a drive-thru pharmacy all for the customers convenience located inside. I've been greeted at the door with a person to disinfect my basket and staff has been very eager to assist throughout the store. Unlike other parking lots, I don't see used plastic gloves or face masks being littered all about...again, come on people! The store has been maintained very neatly and well prepared for this pandemic. Sure, it's been times I can't find certain items, but that's been everywhere. Now don't get me wrong, HT is rather pricey, but it beats running from store to store to find all of the necessary items I need. Make sure to sign up for their loyalty rewards card for extra discounts and make sure to stop by their ice cream aisle...they seem to be the only ones to have a fully stocked ice cream aisle these days. I frequent this store at least once a week for my free item that they offer VIC customers and leave with much more. They have great sales on select items; however, you have to get there early or they'll be sold out. They will give you a rain check for sale items though. Their produce section could use some work, but the salad bar and pizza station are pretty good. The employees are courteous and helpful. The check out lines are reminiscent of Trader Joe's with you and your cart parting ways, but it saves you from having to put your food on the conveyor belt. Overall, a great addition to the Bowie area. Competition helps the consumer. read more

The management have to do a better job of scheduling People for the deli sandwich area. Stood there for 12 mins on 4/11 around 3:30, no one came by to offer assistance or greetings. Tho there were people doing other things like going in out of taking items to the self service isle and placing Chicken in the rotisserie oven, it seems servicing a customer waiting for a sandwich was not a priority. I ended up leaving and getting a sandwich elsewhere. Management should either cancel the service or properly schedule folks to work that area . read more

I've kinda liked Harris Teeeter ever since I came across the one In Fulton and I was thrilled when one opened in Laurel that was even closer to where I live. Now, there is this new one in Bowie about 5 miles from my house which really isn't that bad. It's a great store with lots of the great Harris Teerter selections. Plenty of room to push the shopping cart up and down the aisles and pretty reasonable pricing. I'm a big fan of the deli meat and cheese area and their produce section. Heck, there's even a Starbucks inside the store. The only downside is that the parking lot is a little tricky to get in and out of and once all the other stores in this newly rebuilt shopping center are completed it might be even more tricky. Still, it's a great store with super friendly staff and convenient to get to. If you like a great grocery store in the Bowie area, this is the one to go to. read more

This was my first experience at Harris-Teeter. I've heard so many great things that I went there with great expectations. The store was nice and bright. I was surprised that they didn't carry much of my shopping list, most notably, cream cheese for baking (only a big tub) and no "sweet" butter. Okay, okay; so the store was basically empty (9:15pm on a Wednesday) with a few associates stocking shelves. When we went to check out there were no cashiers, like NO CASHIERS! As we scanned the store with confused looks on our faces, one of the associates, Alonte, told us we could use self-checkout. The look on our faces must have made it clear that wasn't what we were expecting so, with a very dramatic, exasperated "huff" he said, "I guess I can check you out". No expression, no eye contact. He asked if we wanted to join the rewards club and we asked how we would do so, so he called another associate, Ginny, to assist us. After waiting a few minutes she came to the front, "How can I help you"? She then proceeded to get us registered (no eye contact, no smile). I asked her what time the store closed and she told us 11pm... ELEVEN PM? It's not yet 9:30 and they're already in yawn-mode? Sorry, Mr. Harris and Mr. Teeter, my expectations were high, but on this night, your team just did not deliver... read more

I happen to be a Wegmans kind of gal but this Harris Teeter really wowed me! I walked in and immediately I was in awe. This place is clean and well maintained. Not to mention, this place is huge!!! My first stop was definitely Starbucks. I also noticed that they have an Asian station and a pizza bar! Staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn't walk pass an employee that didn't acknowledge me. I was highly impressed with their vegetarian section. I hate when I visit a grocery store and there is one freezer with a few of vegetarian options:(. I found a lot of the items I usually get and I managed to snag a few newbies. I also signed up for the rewards cards to save a few coins on my next visit. Will I be returning? Absolutely! I was not a fan of Harris Teeter when they first opened, but they have really gotten their act together, I found myself thinking when I was in a hurry and deciding where to shop, ".... but if I go to the Harris Teeter, they run their cashiers and front-end "tight" and get you out faster than Giant...." that's quite a compliment for a customer to think that about check-out of a store, not a fan of the set-up design of Harris Teeter check-out though, but Giant leaves you waiting while their employees talk to each other, when they aren't even busy, Harris Teeter puts Giant to shame. I've seen some issues w/customer service at Harris Teeter, but Giant is worse by far. I find Giant so horrible that I was shopping at Safeway at Fairview before Harris Teeter opened up at Marketplace... I think Harris Teeter regular prices are a little too high, just like Giant and Safeway, BUT, Harris Teeter sales are GREAT. I find that my grocery bill is MUCH lower shopping sale items at Harris Teeter (and Safeway sometimes too) than Target or Walmart that don't have sales on their groceries like Harris Teeter and Safeway.... I don't like the refrigerated egg section of Harris Teeter because I've gotten eggs ruined from being frozen more than once. I like being able to grab old coffee grinds to compost from Harris Teeter Starbucks. I have grown to really like many of the employees at Harris Teeter, very sweet and caring and helpful. Join their club for gas discount points at BP, and clip ecoupons to use when you use your club card at checkout, totally worth it. read more

On November 4, 2021, I ordered catering platters online for pick up on November 14th, which is my father's bday. The next day I received a call from Harris Teeter at about 7:30 a.m. informing me that prices for the platters had increased. When I asked for the amount of the increase, I was told the boneless chicken platter had gone from $34.99 (the online price when I placed the order the day before) to $49.99. I was not given the amount of the increase for the deli tray, but I canceled the entire order with the exception of the birthday cake from the bakery. read more

I liked shopping at this store prior to the lock down. The deli products are great and they have a nice selection, however, the staff moves at a snail's pace. I have gone in a few times and had to wait for them forever! No one is in a hurry back there. The produce section also leaves a lot to be desired. Recently I ordered their pick up service. Most of the items I ordered were 'not available'. I locked my car, walked into the store, and got the items as they were all there. When I checked my items at home, I found that I had paid for two large packages of paper towels and not received either. Multiple attempts to speak to someone at the store by phone were unsuccessful. Still trying to get a refund... Walmart has a great pick up service. It's at the Laurel location and they do a great job! read more

Well, well, well the infamous Harris Teeter has finally arrived! I watched closely and anxiously the past few months for this store to open and I'm pleasantly happy with the outcome, so far. Customer service from everyone in the store was off the charts. Store was super clean. - I think the seafood selection is bigger at Wegmans but they do have some nice ones here to so that's not a deal breaker for me. - They are open 24 hours which is great for someone like me who can have a unpredictable work schedule. - The deli area is really nice. Boars Head meat every where. You want cracker barrel you'll need to go to Wegmans. - Sushi area is pretty nice. I finally had the opportunity to check it out and everything was fresh and tasty. They have some nice combinations that I haven't seen other grocery stores. - Frozen isle has some unique selections i.e. Geno's Pizza!!! Omg if you've never been to Chicago to have Geno's you do not understand my excitement LOL :-) and this is just naming a few. Comparing the food prices and brands here to a liking of Shoppers is a little unparalleled in my opinion. I compare it to other stores such as Wegmans. Having said that, I have no complaints and am happy with the choices here. I do agree with a few other reviews about the selection of stores they decided to put in this shopping center with HT. I mean geesh, we already have a Chipotle, Chick-Fil-A, Petco, just to name a few, within 10 miles of this place. Why put them here too? While I'm appreciative of the new additions it would've been nice to have seen something different like a Chop't Salad, JINYA Ramen or something along those lines but hey it's a start. Harris Teeter is a suburban millennial's dream come true. I was soooo excited when I learned that Harris Teeter was coming to Bowie, although the location couldn't be more awkward. (Sidebar: they couldn't have given us better options for the other stores in this shopping center!?) Anyway, I walk in and I am amazed at the customer service. I mean every store employee spoke to me and asked how I was doing or if I needed help. It's like they went to the same training school that Chick fil-a employees attend! The young lady behind the deli was obviously still getting the hang of things, but I was so high off the new-store smell, that I wasn't bothered by it. There was a decent hot food selection, but I thought for sure we were going to get a sushi bar like the Harris Teeter in North Rockville. C'mon bruh, you guys could have expanded that hot food section a bit. Why the hell is that Crescent Wine spot next door? Y'all know you could have used all this retail space for Harris Teeter!!!!! Anyway, like another reviewer said, not as much of a selection as Wegman's in Crofton, but way more than Mom's Organic and Safeway. There were a few items I couldn't get there that I had to go across the street to get at Giant. Hopefully it only gets better! read more

Harris Teeter is becoming my favorite grocery store in the DMV area because (1) the store is always neat, clean and orderly. (2) The produce, bakery and meat departments are of quality preferences and the foods are always fresh. Finally, what I really like - the cashiers bag my groceries and put them back in the basket. That means a lot to me. Safeway, yep, I'm calling you out - have gotten very lazy in that customer service area. The cashiers either hand you the bags or put them on the conveyer belt for you (the customer) to load into the basket. I find the younger cashiers typically do this and it's not cool. So, HT gets 5 stars for those reasons alone. However, I gotta minus 1 star due to the fact that when I entered HT this morning, about 6:08am, there were 2 Managers talking to each other in the produce area near the front entrance of the store. Well, neither one of them acknowledged me with a greeting as I guess they were too busy in their conversation to find me worthy of a "Good morning!" Also, the lights were not fully on until I was checking out. Lastly, only the self check out lines were fully operating until I asked Guest Services if someone could check me out and was told only if I was paying by card. Fortunately for me I was planning to use my card, otherwise I'd be at the self check out which I dislike with a passion. So, although I'm giving HT 5 stars for the upkeep of the store and the quality of the food, I need customer service to pick up the pace and stay ahead of the other local grocery stores in order to continue to keep me as a consistent customer at a 5-star rating. read more

Pros: close to home, weekly specials, Starbucks inside, decent produce. Owned by Kroger (2nd largest retailer in the US) - stable jobs. Friendly staff. Helpful staff. Cons: limited selection, minimal organic choices, high prices on just about everything. With probably less than 5% of the store stocked with organic products I highly doubt I will be shopping here on the regular. Prices are higher than the competition on just about everything I shopped for. read more
