Walmart in New West, there's two, are both behind compared to other stores when it comes to customer service. No matter how bad reviews become, they won' t change. You see, Walmart stores in the Lower Mainland employs only a certain ethnic group in large numbers and it's hard to change the attitude of that group when it comes to being compassionate, considerate and when delivering quality service. The management of these stores also come from the same culture. What they left behind in their country, they practice in Walmart. Go to Walmart in Alberta, and outside the Lower Mainland. Customer service changes. In those Walmarts outside the Lower Mainland, there is diversity what life in Canada should be. So you can expect employees on those Walmarts as smart, compassionate, considerate and will give you the attention you deserve as a customer. A few of the same ethnic group is fine but in many Lower Mainland Walmart, the dominant group is in every department. Right in these Walmart stores, one can see the violations of Walmart management in hiring diverse employees. These Walmarts are racially imbalanced. In 6th and 6th Walmart and in Boyd, there are many credit card pushers, desperate to get their $20 or so commission if you will open a Walmart credit card. They whisper to you as though they're pushing drugs. They act without regard for decency and social skills. The greeters in those two Walmarts are not greeters. They're like CSI inspectors, thinking each customer is a thief. They'll check your receipts, making sure to humiliate you even further if they did not understand the contents of what you bought. This process has the blessing of management. Walmart management is lazy. Rather than get all their cameras working and spot shoplifters, they employ the greeters as inspectors and sometimes, those greeters sell doughnuts , pop corm, hot dogs or chocolate sfor Walmart fund raising . Another 3rd world style. Since these Walmarts and many other Walmarts in the Lower Mainland have the dominance of one major ethnic group, you, as a shopper loses your dignity as you are put on the low level, the same as those in countries where government corruption is dominant. So they check your bags, they check your receipts, they don't help you, they ignore you and they say they can't help you. There's this Walmart employee in Boyd, her name is Jai.. She lectures you on how to use the machine and points out how stupid you are for not knowing how to be a cashier. Tell her you'll report her to the manager and she says she doesn't care. That's how it is in those countries. There is a great desensitization for customer relations. Call their call center about your credit card charges and you will be answered by the same dominant ethnic group who will first warn you that if you're committing, fraud for questioning charges in your credit card, you beware or else... is that the way we want to be treated as Canadians? Until we Canadians demand an esteemed customer service, we will continue to shop at Walmart in our desire to get cheap products. There's Superstore, there's Price Mart, there's Save On foods.. Bring a Walmart flyer and ask for a price match. You'll get the price you want and not shop at Walmart. Amazon.ca now delivers products with free shipping and if they can't drive to Point Roberts if you can and pick up you products there cheaper than you can find in Walmart. London Drugs carry on sales and if you try, they will match Walmart price. My point is don't lower ourselves any further by spending money on low quality products and being treated like crap. We must showcase our qualities as human beings by treating ourselves right. Don't shop at Walmart until it smartens up. My husband and I went to Queensborough , Boyd St. New West Walmart store last week, towards the evening. While we were checking out on the express lane,, we met a cashier named C--- (there are 3 missing letters but I don't want to make it worse for him) He insisted that my husband get a Walmart Master Card. When I told him that we are not getting any, he said, "I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to him." My husband said no and insisted we were in a hurry, C---desperately continued to push his way for us opening a Walmart account. Is this how desperate Walmart is? This is always the case. You check out and a man (Most Men cashier) will peddle Walmart's Credit card application. Even if you say " NO".. they still convince you and try to delay the express lane because they want to get their commission. The electronic center is worst. No one knows exactly what they're selling. A woman who works there even declined to test a lamp saying it should be fine. When I asked her to plug in the lamp, she had the gall to ask me " what do you want to know about the lamp" Stupid is she!!! I want to know if it's working as I'm trying to save Walmart the agony of having me return the item.!!! Most employees won't problem solve. The following are what they'll offer you as a response: we don't have the item anymore we cannot do those things try and come back tomorrow I don't work in this section. I don't know. Ask her (pointing at another staff who cannot hear what I'm being told) check out is not here. ( He is the check out). Go to express lane. I'm just here to clean the jewelry I no understand We haven't got that item. "Well can't you check inside?" I asked. Reply: We don't have that inside for sure. Walmart in Queensborough took all the lazy staff and put them in once basket!!! And served them to us!!! Pharmacist response: maybe it's there somewhere no, I've never heard of liquid tiger liniment in my life!!!! Try superstore . ( you bet I will) no, we don't have Emla Ah.. I can't serve you right now, please wait a moment Ah come back later.. (Later...) come back next few minutes LAZY..LAZY..LAZY Walmart in Queensborough took all the lazy staff and put them in once basket!!! And served them to us!!! The second thing was last night, July 18, 201 between 7-8PM, an Asian looking fellow with glasses and black hair working at the electronic center said we could not check out in his till for the DVD player we bought. We have to go to the express lane. I complained about this to the customer service and they don't know the name of the person I was referring to. The man at the electronics was LAZY, LAZY! We're the only customers at that time. There was no one else there. Just plain LAZY! Many of Walmart's grocery items have prices the same as Superstore and the weight of an item, is much less than what's printed on the packaging. But for most part, Walmart does not cheat. However, when it comes to employees or customer service, this Walmart in Queensborough ( New West) is quite low in quality. It should just be the merchandise that should possess low level quality but for this Walmart, the customer service is really low. read more

Wal Mart has a lot to offer and I can't deny they've got what I want with the price I can afford. There's nothing wrong with the company but there's something wrong with its human resource. 1. The staff here, come from Asia, ( I've got nothing against Asians) are great people but if it's just my luck, they are hardly ever able to provide consultation for a product or they say.." we don't do that.. we don't have that... I walked in to this store and went straight to electronics/ appliances to buy a desk lamp. I asked the girl there to test the lamp, its illumination before I leave the store as I don't intend to come back and return it.. she said.."what is there to test? a light is a light..We don't do that.. I said, yes you do..see that socket? all you need to do is open the box and get an extension cord and plug it in, or I'm going to complain about you... she tested it and I still have to go to the customer service to complain. 2. The telephone (I phone/cell phone people mostly men) are very busy even without a customer...busy with what? texting and their excuse? they're checking the cell phones they're selling so they can't check out a nintendo unit, I have to go upfront. They are not there to sell games..they are there to check their cell phones. Since when was texting allowed at the work place? I say that if those men are not helpful, fire them..They have no reason to stay at WalMart if all they do is collect wages and text. 3. Some products are not the weight they say they are. I bought a Great Value pancake and the weight was less than what was written outside the box. 4. credit card..some male cashier would insist you get a Wal Mart credit card even if you don't want to. 5. Worst Experience Ever dealing with the General Manager, Pawan Patil. Went the the new west mall to buy a camera from The Source. Unfortunately they were sold out at this location, but it was available online and at other locations. Decided to drop by this Walmart at the same location and found the exact same camera but at a higher price. I ask the staff if the price match and they do. They called the manager and was instructed to check if it was same brand, model, colour etc. And it was. The staff needed a manager code to ring in the item so they called for a manager. We waited 30 minutes until we just decided to go at the lower level cause no-one showed up. And the there Pawan Patil the "Manager" just standing there with arms crossed. So busy that he could make it to the electronics even he he said hell be right there(sarcasm). The staff showed him the Camera. He again ask all the questions, Is it the same Brand, model, colour, Memory and Even UPC etc. And yes, yes,yes,yes. Then said he can't do the price match because he doesn't know if whats inside the camera The Source was offering has the same as what's inside their camera. OKAY? same Brand model, colour even UPC! Then said " Why is the box open? did you open it?" . Accused me of opening the package. I said no that it was one of the staff and the staff comfirmed it right there. I was very frustrated at this moment because I can see that he was trying all he can not to price match, and just left. The two ladies at the electronics section was very helpful . Not what I can say for Pawan Patil the Store Manager, who should not be in the position he's in to represent Walmart. I live in a residential ara next to Walmart and I am a frequent shopper at Walmart even if I just needed milk. No convenience store nearby. I noticed that there are certain types of employees here in Boyd Street that will always tell you they have no idea where an item is or that they have no idea how it works or take it or leave it. It seemed a given that some employees would give you a reply on your inquiry. On the other hand, the customer service counter is very well- mannered and patient. I specifically had encounter last night ( Jan. 24, 2017) at approx. 5-5:30 PM with a woman working on the self-check out counter - Jai. She was giving away free bags to what seemed to be her friends. When it was my turn to ask if I can have one for my 4 litre milk, she was really mad and said that I have to pay for it. Now when can an employee make that judgment as to who gets a free plastic bag and who doesn't. I didn't make a fuss because it was just a bag. But Jai is always rude to customers. She acts like a security woman, not a customer relations help at all. Also she was quite rude to the guy ahead of me because he couldn't speak English. read more

I am a big fan of walmart despite they are a corporate giant. Who needs service when you have the lowest prices in town for mainstream products. The shelves are usually pretty messy here because there are so many people shopping here. You can save an arm and a leg here. Prices are always lower than other large chains ie. Safeway. Plus Walmart has more departments. For example, You can get a brand new pair of pants for $10. This Walmart has recently been upgraded to a supercenter so it's a good one stop shop. Plus, there is no hassel to validate any parking ticket because parking is free. If You want to save money i definitely recommend Walmart and if you have money to burn i suggest You shop at Safeway or other big chains. read more

My BEEF now is the NICKLE charge for bags !!!!!The MAIN reason for me shopping there is I NEED every nickle more and more. Is this CHARGE to help out Sam's great grand children pay for docking their expensive yachts in Fort Lauderdale ?? or are they leading the rich ECO minded crowd who can afford the prices at the fancy stores who DO NOT charge for bags that I know of because I can't afford to leisurely shop there?? I suggest their BRAIN TRUST MARKETING PEOPLE get reacquainted with who their customers are and give us all a break by reversing this ugly minded policy. read more

As Walmarts go this isn't that bad. But Walmart, no matter how much they try to hide the cheap labor they use, the horrible business practices they employ and all the shit Walmart does to communities and local businesses, when I walk in this Walmart I still feel ill. A massive corporation that uses employees like disposable diapers and they undercut the market making every other company hurt along with their employees. This walmart has some nice folks, some are very sweet. But I can't erase the nasty Walmart-ishness from even the nicest employee. read more
