I have a typical CVS Pharmacy experience from a big city in Texas. I don't want to bring the same attitude to this little CVS in Ashland Virginia. The store employees were friendly to the personal level. They greeted us as my local friend and I walked in. He asked where to find something for him. I wandered off to see the store. It is definitely smaller than most CVS Pharmacies that I have been to. But it has everything just not many selections. The cashier was chatting with my friend as we checked out. The store is located at Ashland Junction Shopping Center. The mall itself is kind of small. I guess after a big store vacated the space, it gave me an empty feeling. Note to self: Tax rate on OTC is 6% here.

They should adjust the time on sign accordingly then or staff so at least people that do not have questions for pharmacist can pick up. Lots of people come during "lunch time".

One thing I do not like is that they do not provide any receipt for dropping off packages. They tell me to take a photo of the shipping label. I already have the shipping label at home when I printed it but it does me no good to have a shipping number if for some reason the package never makes it to UPS where it is first scanned. It is not scanned at the store. The Dollar Store down the street is a drop off point for Fed Ex. There, they immediately scan the package and you get an alert on your cell phone that the package has been accepted. Much better security to the customer in my opinion. Wish the UPS drop off experience was better.

After being told to call at a specific timeframe for my prescription, calling as directed, and being told that the prescription would be there that day, I went in to pick it up two days later. Although I received no communication of any problems, there was no record of the prescription and the item had since gone on backorder. I won't belabor this review with all of the ins-and-outs of the experience but suffice it to say that I will not be using this pharmacy ever again due to the way a man behind the counter jumped in to talk down to me. I would have provided 1 star (vs 2) if it hadn't been for the look of compassion on a few other staff members' faces when I noted that I had not done anything that warranted him speaking to me that way. It was not the first time he has taken that kind of attitude. And some of my friends have had similar experiences. I strongly suggest you go elsewhere.

However, about 2 weeks after the order they charged a previously used credit card (that I had specifically refused to authorize to be used for future payments). I called and explained that there should have been no charges. I was told that the amount charged was based on an estimate of what they expected my share to be prior to waiting for insurance to process. Now I'm out money I didn't owe and am having to fight to get reimbursed for money they had no right to take on a card they weren't authorized to use. To me this is very suspect business practice as they probably wind up keeping a lot of money they weren't owed.

My insurance requires me to fill a 90 day supply, and they never fail to only request and fill a 30 day supply from my doctor. When I tried to explain this to the Pharacist I could tell that he didn't have a clue what I was talking about. They have my counts and refills so screwed up. While I was talking to them they were requesting 90 day refills for prescriptions that I just picked up last week. It is very scary to think that a pharmacy is filling medications that could potentially kill someone and they don't have their crap together. Wake up corporate before they seriously hurt someone.
