The automated AI scheduling and email system is currently malfunctioning, creating an obstacle that actively prevents patient access to necessary treatment.Because the digital interface cannot process complex scheduling needs, this is a safety concern due to delayed medical care. Had a procedure for OAB. Beyond painful. Had raging UTI afterwards and was sick for several days. Plus that doctor works part time so good luck getting timely follow up. A friend of a friend had a similar experience at Va Uro. She went to another medical practice (Dr. A @ VPFW) that provided a pain free procedure. Decided to also go to Dr. A @ VPFW and had a painless experience and no UTI. read more

Overall do not recommend. While the office does not make you wait long to get an appointment and when you're in office to see a doctor, my procedure experience with them felt very rushed. I had a kidney stone removed, only to wake up and be told that the stone was already passed. Why didn't they do imagining to check before putting me under? Virginia Urology mishandled my relative's prostate cancer case so egregiously. Constant appointment delays, horrible medical advice from their on-call staff, including a nurse not recommending the ER when his platelets hit dangerously low levels, and an overall lack of urgency meant that the case went from serious but manageable to stage IV and fatal from late May to August. He passed away from a cancer he was supposed to "die with and not from" and it is infuriating to look back at the timeline and realize that absolutely nobody from this practice was advocating for him. He suffered unnecessarily in the care of Virginia Urology. I utterly discourage others from seeking care, especially for prostate cancer, with this institution. read more

I had an appointment on a Tuesday morning at 8:00. I arrive on time, of course, because if I don't I get charged regardless. I was called almost immediately to the back, go through the process of weight and peeing in a cup and then was shown to my room. I sat in the room until 8:35, then got up to ask a staff member how much longer it would be before the doctor would come in only to learn that he was not even there yet. I guess the staff was assuming I would just sit there for however long it took for him to arrive and not tell me a thing. Totally unprofessional in how that was handled. The reception staff were great and helpful; the nursing staff in the back, not at all. I did have some concerns for the doctor but I guess they wont get addressed since I wont be going back there. I'd gave it 5 stars but wanted to do 4.75 given the longer than normal wait for the procedure, but given the hurricane in NC and saline scarcity I understand that, but a few days before my 12/5 date I was called to reschedule for 12/30 due to my Dr. unavailability. I had to choice to use another Doctor for the procedure but I opted to stick with Dr. Seabury and wait till he was available. So...can't dock them for that. Staff was efficient, kind, and professional. Recommend going to sleep for any hee hee up the hoo hoo. All my stones are out and that was the goal...for now. I've been a patient since 2014 or so with low testosterone I've got an excellent service from Virginia urology and Dr Sliwinski on my low t issues. My active surveillance pointed out my high PSA numbers, and led to spending at a good amount of time planning which procedure to use to correct the issue. After meeting with the radiation side and the surgery side I opted to use the surgery and remove my prostate. Dr. Robert's surgery went extremely smoothly and recovery has been at the high end of the outcomes expected. I'm thrilled to be cancer-free at 76 and back on active surveillance with a PSA number that starts with .014 after 14 months. read more

Forced to use portal since no one answers the main line. No one responded after 7 days. Sent another email using the portal as the main line operators simply hang up the phone. Whatever happened to HIPPA? The Forest Ave location didn't adhere to HIPPA twice at the same appointment with a staff member. She decided to asks questions in front of another patient. I tried to tell her the first time but, she didn't catch my hint. She proceeded to ask another medical question until I asked her, " Do I need to answer your question in font of a man? My husband saw Dr. Monaghan 2 weeks ago. The visit was great Dr.Manahan was very kind and easy to work with. He prescribed a medication he felt may be rejected and if so, call back and he would prescribe something else. That's where it all fell apart. When my husband did call back after a long hold, he was told it's his responsibility to call insurance and find out what they'll cover. Eliza his nurse or someone in billing said they don't have the time to deal with every insurance. She was very unprofessional in the manner she responded. Whatever happened to common courtesy and help in finding the right prescription for the patient? That's what he pays the practice to do since he is not a doctor and they would be more informed as to what would work. We lost trust in this physician having our best interest at heart. read more

The most incompetent office staff. I was in the office and gave them a required urine test for my upcoming surgery two weeks ago. Apparently they did not run the required test. When they called for my upcoming surgery, they did not tell me why I would need another urine test or what it was for and said I would need to drive an hour to their office for a urine test and that I could not go to any of their other offices near my home. They scheduled the urine test for a time I was out of town. I called and cancelled the appointment and the person over the phone verified it had been cancelled even though they did not cancel it because I received several harrassing phone calls from numerous staff for a urine test I had already given them and they dropped the ball and did not run the test. Im in severe pain and can't drive and have nobody to drive me. They refuse to allow me to do the urine test at one of their other locations. I spoke with one lady who said she would check with the doctor to see what could be done. Apparently she did not check nor was my account ever notated because I received another phone call from a third person who was rather hateful on the phone. I have seen two doctors in this practice at a different location during this time for the severe pain and both have conflicting ideas of what is wrong. Now I am trying to find another urology practice to perform the surgery because I don't trust an office that can't communicate. I've called and cannot get through to anyone unless I pretend I am a doctor calling and I have sent several messages through the portal which have all gone unanswered. This incompetency started with the doctor on call when I was in the hospital whom notated my chart that they had seen me and everything was good, when in fact they had not seen me and I ended up having to have emergency surgery because everything WAS NOT GOOD. read more

Make sure that you see an MD and not a PA. The PA pretty much ignored the moderate to severe pain i was experiencing and said everybody with Prostatitis has pain. Also claimed that the DEA has strict regulations about pain medication. Given that I have an Anxiety condition being treated by a Psychiatrist , I have plenty of drugs to abuse much more potent than Tylenol-3. So I left in office in pain with no relief in sight. read more

I have been seen by Dr. Glazier and by Dr. Colhoun. They are excellent physicians. I received prompt treatment, fully explained and when things went a bit sideways with some kidney stones, Dr. Glazier stepped in to save the day. As good as these doctors are, they are supported by a wonderful staff that function as a unit - from office staff checking you in, to the surgery center staff and nurses, to the X-Ray and CT technicians, to the scheduling office. There is not single bad seed in the bunch. They are caring and courteous, treating all with respect and dignity. I would give them more than 5 stars, if I could. read more

First of all, there are not enough stars to really adjudge my experience. I have had my first visit at VU in Hanover (Dr. Rento), the greeting and staff in the office was amazing. Then the nursing staff was incredible. I then knew that VU was an incredible operation to handle my issue. Then, next, the surgical unit at Stoney Point (4 visits) since 2/23. So, no difference in the super service here. Visits to Broad/Mill office; again very satisfied with staff and nursing. And now, undergoing BCG procedure at Reynolds Crossing and Hanover. Now, my doctor, Dr. Richard Rento, is an amazing individual and have been extremely pleased with our visits. Conclusion, if you are having a problem with VU, as the patient you are the problem.
