Trip 2: Sorry we didn't add your insurance. That will be 200 dollars. Trip 3: Closed for lunch from 1:30 to 2 pm. That's fine but maybe a sign to let folks know? Trip 4: Here is your prescription for 30 days. I can't give you 90 days because the doctor didn't write a prescription for that. Trip 5: Oh nevermind, the doctor did write a prescription for 90 days. That will be 600 dolllars. Oh you have a GoodRx code? Nevermind 30 dollars. Eventually I got what I needed, but CVS employees did not seem to care about how much I'd need to pay until visit 5, and completely did not see a prescription on at least 2 visits. One star. The store is great however. Well stocked. Fairly priced. Good selection of candy, etc. The pharmacy? Meh.

I've noticed many foods, on the shelves that used to be found only in specialty and ethnic markets. It's becoming more interesting to peruse the store.

Sure enough, I was able to use their restroom. It was fairly clean for a public restroom, but unfortunately the soap dispenser was empty--only hand sanitizer was available. I was too exhausted at the time to bring it up to staff. Note: I'm deliberately using the correct word restroom--not "bathroom," since there was no bathtub. At 17, during a senior class trip to France, I asked for the bathroom location in a restaurant, and a few French people responded that Americans use the word bathroom instead of restroom when looking for a public toilet, and I have never forgotten that! I have been using the word "restroom" ever since! I'm giving this CVS four stars, deducting one for the lack of soap.

The Rx wasn't in the Phoenicia pharmacy, and I asked to pick it up in the Tannersville pharmacy; it was done seamlessly. Up in Tannersville I was helped by the pharmacist (Jennifer B, I believe), who was as helpful and kind as I needed. This is the way health care should work. It must be hard in some ways to compete with huge chain stores, but what you get with a smaller independently owned pharmacy is a uniquely personal touch. When you call or come into the store, they know you and ask about your family. When they have had a family misfortune or loss, your caring and concern is returned to them because they have become not only essential service providers, but friends that you care about. Palmer Professional Pharmacy also does drug-compounding, and what is so important to my husband and I is that they provide and make up compounded, and chicken-flavored medications that my pet and former pets have needed.
