One of the worst Walmarts I've been to. I came here just to pick up a LEGO set I bought online the day before. I drove all the way out only to find that all the pickup parking spots were taken. That part was out of my control, so I waited for one to open and checked in on the app. After 15 minutes, it became clear why the lot was so full--no one was getting their orders. In total, I waited over half an hour for a single small LEGO set. What was even more concerning was that I received my order before others who had clearly been waiting longer. I really wish there were a better pickup process here. I would have gladly gone inside to get it (I was surprised that wasn't even an option). If you need to pick something up from Walmart, I'd recommend avoiding this location or having your order shipped instead. read more

Poorly stocked and only two registers open at 8pm so of course, there were six or seven people waiting at each. This store hasn't converted any of the registers to the "scan and go" system so it's cashiers only. As much as I would prefer to not ring up my own sale, it does tend to speed things up. On the plus side, this Walmart tolerates overnight parking in their lot. You'll want to be on the side near the GameStop. There was an SUV with a 25 foot trailer (running their generator), another Class B and at least two vehicles that clearly had people sleeping in them. I needed assistance in their outdoor garden shop, and I can't believe that I actually had a sales associate that didn't speak English! After a few questions without any answers she finally pointed inside the building and added a few words that I couldn't understand. My husband deduced that she was directing us to the cashier inside. Lo and behold we get to the cashier that spoke as much English as the one in the garden department. We asked her if they had a certain garden bush and she pulls out a flyer and has us point to a picture of what we wanted. Oh, and by the way, she didn't even say thank you or anything else when we left. Wow, I can't believe I have to use sign language to get abysmal service in a supposedly American store. My husband and I were visiting for vacation in the area and needed to quickly stop and get a pair of jeans to wear to Dinner (rather than shorts) and figured we would stop here to purchase them. At the Walmarts where I am from, we never have gates that have emergency exits (to deter people from stealing). I know it is there so it stops people from doing it, but seeing it made me worry about my surroundings and where I was (since I am not from the area). Thankfully we quickly found the men's section and were able to find the jeans. Thank God their dressing rooms were open and my husband was able to try on two different sizes to ensure they fit before we purchased them and headed to Dinner. There was only two registers open (and with a line), but thankfully we were able to check out using self check out. We also needed to use the ATM which was conveniently located near the exit. We had people next to us depositing their cell phones for cash (and they seemed a little rough around the edges, which made me nervous about pulling cash out, but thankfully all was okay. All in all, this Salem seemed VERY different from the historic Salem we visited earlier in the day. While I can't say much about shopping in the store, I can tell you how much I appreciate the people who bring your orders to your car in pickup. I've had to do this over many years, due to the pandemic and my chronic illness. I have found all of them to be kind, courteous, friendly, and respectful. My bags are packed well, they are careful when they place them in my trunk, and when I leave I feel a bit spoiled. Not only did the store, not have what I needed even though the website said they would, the staff on the floor was so rude to me whenever I asked them where something was that why would I even bother? On top of that, they don't accept tap to pay, and they make it seem like if you download the app you can pay from your phone using that but instead you just end up downloading and signing up for the app you're standing there at the register while the employee near you is just staring at you. Horrific customer service, the selection is trash, and they won't even take your money. Stay far away. There's a whole list of reasons why I never go to Walmart and I was right all along. Walked in one night because I was going on a trip to New York for a couple days an needed a back pack, couple of workers were stocking shelves in an isle and I politely asked them where the back packs were, I was met with blank stares and then just talking Spanish and shrugging their shoulders. This walmart is absolutely garbage. Every day i go to this walmart to cash out my check and out of nowhere i can't cash it because "their money services don't work". They tell me to come back the next day and then i still can't cash out my check. 5 months ago, I stopped by at this Walmart. As I was looking around and doing my shopping. I walked past 3 store associates who were goofing off playing with their cell phones,socializing with their co-workers, and didn't bother to acknowledge me. As I was looking around in one of the aisles, a store associate caught me off guard, and asked if I needed help looking for an item. I told the store associate that I was looking for a particular Bod Spray. The store associate was very nice & helpful, and she went above and beyond to look for that Bod Spray. I believe the Walmart employee who helped me name is Karlie. She was wearing glasses, she had long wavy dark hair, and she had ink on some of her fingers. Once I caught whiff it stained my nose and no lie, turned around and a mouse ran right across the aisle as I began to wonder if that smell was a mouse/mice. Honestly I went in looking for something my boyfriend needed and after asked 3 capable people who clearly did. It want to help. The first woman pointed me to a direction. The second woman pointed towards a man. That man then walked me back to the initial woman who then walked me to the The aisle and say we don't have it. It wasn't till I got to the register and spoke to the person who pointed me in the direction of someone who is better at speaking in English did I get any kind of assistance. Adelaida ( if I understood and didn't butcher it too much) helped me actually look for the item took the time to look at the picture and try to assist me. I really appreciated her help. This is by far the absolute worst Walmart I've ever been to. If you want to go to a Walmart with the worst customer service you've ever experienced, this is the one for you. I called this Walmart 5 times yesterday before talking to a live person. Once someone answered I told her I needed to see if an item was actually in store before I headed over there (item showed available online and another store checked and said they had some available.) She told me no one could check for me right now, to call back in 20 minutes and hung up on me. Now sure why no one was available, there were plenty of people just walking around like they were on a park stroll once we got there. Once there I asked a store associate if he could look in the back for me because I could not find it on the floor. We waited around for ten minutes before seeing him walking a pallet over to a different department. I went over and asked what was going on and he said he didn't find it and I asked him why he couldn't have come back to tell me. He just made a confused face. If you are looking for an item and it says it's available online or on the app at this store, do yourself a favor and go to a more civilized area. This Walmart along with a few others in the area need a complete revamp and need to hire quality employees. These are not up to par. read more

Its.a walmart, like any other so I won't go into too much detail abput what they have. This walmart is usually pretty caoutic, but I must say it has gotten a tiny bit better. Seems they have more employees so you can actually find help when you need it. As for the customer service, a good amount of the staff is not very happy to be asked a question, nor do they greet you at all when checking out. Some.do, but it's unlikely. Most of the isles are a mess with things all over the floor or knocked down on the shelves. The site to store employees are prompt and I've never had an issue picking something up. You can check in on your way to picking something up from site to store , however the apps won't allow you to do so after 8pm even though they are there until 10pm on week days. read more

I've been to Walmart stores in MA, ME, NH, and OH, and the Salem, MA location is by far the worst run store I've ever been to. Quite frankly, this location sucks. I went in around 10:00am on 6/4/23 and filled my cart with stuff and proceeded to one of the checkout lines. As I was standing in line behind about 9-10 people, a Walmart employee loudly announced that the register was closing after the customer who was currently being served and told us all to go to checkout register #10. No other registers besides the self-checkout and customer service desk were open, and they both had long lines. As myself and the other 8 or 9 customers moved from the closing register to #10, the cashier at #10 suddenly announced that he was closing as well. The lines for the self-checkout and service desk were quickly mobbed, with one Walmart employee trying to get a dozen people or more moving through the self-checkout. Three employees were standing near the shopping carts during the chaos talking and not doing anything. I overheard one Walmart employee say to another something about the manager either not being in the store or not having come in yet, (What the fuck?). So a store is open and operating with no manager on site? Seriously? I had somewhere to be and finally decided to just leave. No customer should ever be put through this. Here's my recommendations for improving this location: 1. Fire the current lazy, incompetent store manager. A poorly run store begins with the person on top and trickles down. The majority of the blame goes to the manager, NOT the rank and file employees. 2. Turn all of the checkout aisles into self checkout. Keep a couple front end employees to oversee those and fire the rest. 3. Prioritize serving customers over stocking shelves. There are more employees stocking inventory than helping customers and that's no way to run a retail business. 4. Pay a better wage so you don't have a store so understaffed, that you end up with situations like the one that occurred today. 5. FIRE THE CURRENT LAZY, INCOMPETENT STORE MANAGER. read more

I wasnt impressed. It had minimal to no food options & I often go to walmart for frozen waffles & such for my son, so not having those made me need to make another stop... Employees here tend to be extremely rude and more interested in chumming it up with their co-workers than helping their customers. Multiple times I've had issues with cashiers while cashing out - scanned same items more than once, clearance items ringing up at full price, items broken during cashing out due to cashier's carelessness, payment method entered by cashier incorrectly resulting in verbal exchanges where they keep telling me to scan my credit card when I've been holding cash up for several minutes, etc. Each issue with their employees seems to have a common denominator of this - inattentive cashiers who are chatting it up with the cashier in the next row THE ENTIRE TIME they're cashing their own customers out and a severe language barrier. I'm all for folks being multilingual (I am myself), but when a large percentage of employees at this location don't even have a basic grasp on the English language, it makes it extremely difficult to interact with the cashier when there's a problem with a transaction. And do to the lack of attention they pay to serving the customer, this happens all. the. time. After a recent incident here where the woman cashing me out overcharged my debit card significantly (I requested cash back, cashier didn't process it correctly, her inequally inept co-worker screwed things up more when he manually redid everything, and long story short in the end I ended up receiving far more cashback than I requested and it was an amount that exceeded my checking account's balance at that time. Manager claimed that the transaction could not be voided, so I ended up paying overdraft fees to my bank due to Walmart employee error.) Oh - and if you ever have an issue here and try to call the store to get the name of the store manager or to try and talk to them, good luck - either the phones never get answered, the person answering them doesn't speak or understand English, you get put on hold and then hung up on, or you get hung up on as soon as the call is answered. There's two other Walmarts nearby in Lynn and Danvers. Both are far better than this place and not much further of a drive. Do yourself a favor and go the few extra miles elsewhere. read more

The prices are cheaper at market basket. There's no staff be found anywhere. If you're fluent in Spanish you might get some help from another customer. Horrible, racist store. I went there about a year ago to buy a wok, when cashing out the cashier called over 2 other cashiers to find out why I was getting it so cheap. I asked several times what the problem was, they looked at me but wouldn't answer. They then called over the manager and after 15 minutes they rang me up. I complained several times to their 800 number and was told they would respond to my complaint. After about two months of constant calling a manager called and said they would leave a gift card at the customer service desk for me as an apology for the bad treatment but when I went there was NOTHING there. The people at the customer service desk said they had no idea what I was talking about and acted like I was making the whole thing up ! This store is the worst !!! This Wal*Mart is amazing compared to the one on the Lynnway , GAG. Every wallyworld is usually packed and filled with rude shoppers, so you know what your in for.. this one is ok, I go here when I need a few random things and don't want to spend a fortune at CVS. The best Wal Mart I went to was in Alaska, it was HUGE with a supermarket and it was impeccable, so every other one is compared to that which I guess is a little unfair. read more

I love Walmarts. ...just not this one. Every time I go for something specific...I go Target afterwards because they didn't have it at this location even though it would have been a better value. Shelves are often bare. It's a smaller location to begin with...but c'mon. Where are the employees?! ...maybe they are wherever the actual merchandise is? I love Wal-Mart. From the smaller ones which still have everything all through out the country. Salem has THE WORST electronics department in any store I've ever been to. And unfortunately in any OTHER Wal-Marts I've been to. I've been to at least 45 different ones. I dunno if it's the crime level there close to Lynn but supposedly they just sort of let the electronics go.. If people were WALKING out the door with massive T.V.s or anything in that department and walk out the front door and if if you were stopped or questioned you can say "already bought" so shame on their security system AND employees. One star for this Walmart. I bought a juicer on Sunday from the Lynn location only to come home and see there's food caked all over the inside of it and it came with no instruction manual. Disgusted I obviously went to return it to my nearest Walmart which is the Salem location. The woman at the customer service desk was extremely rude and unhelpful and told me that I could not return the juicer to that location. She then accused ME of dirtying up the juicer and said it was my mess that I left on the juicer. Ummm no, I wouldn't be returning if that was the case, I would have simply said there was a problem etc, but the only problem was that it had been previously used and obviously not checked to see if it was still sellable. Of course I started to argue because it was totally bogus what she was saying to me and I've returned to different locations several times. They asked me to leave so I did. I call the store 5 minutes later and ask if I could return items to any Walmart store regardless of where I bought it and the lady on the other line said "yes you can return to any Walmart". So wtf Walmart? Way to drop the ball on this one and continue your history of 1 star reviews. I hope customer service is better trained next time and actually gives service to the customer who paid money for the item. I live right by this Walmart and it's gotten worse and worse over the years. The staff is the absolute worse and they never have anything in stock. If they do, check dates. High chance it's expired. And if you ask when something is coming they say, next shipment date is 2 days. Come back 2 days later, same answer. Like what???? Even after making multiple improvements to the store, the management has gotten worse. They need to intervene and fix this place. They need to hire better managers and management. read more

I'm being generous with two stars. This Walmart has the worst customer service EVER! I think they deliberately go out of their way to NOT be helpful. The only helpful people in the whole store are in the garden center when and if they have help out there. I hate how they sit outside the store on the bench and smoke - disgusting!
