To the pharmacy manager and pharmacist at the Walgreens on West Walnut Avenue/Dug Gap in Dalton:…read more Shame on you. Last night, my close friend Lisa was actively dying. She had just been sent home on hospice, and while I was there saying what could be my final goodbye, she began experiencing severe distress. Hospice immediately called in comfort medications--medications that weren't optional, weren't for convenience, and weren't something that could wait until tomorrow. They were ordered to relieve the suffering of a dying woman. A family member rushed to your pharmacy and arrived approximately 10 minutes before closing. Instead of showing even the smallest amount of compassion, they were told the prescriptions would not be filled because it was too close to closing time. Your solution? Send the family to Chattanooga to find a 24-hour pharmacy. After making that drive during one of the worst nights of their lives, they were told the wait would be another two to three hours. Think about that. While a family was gathered around a dying loved one, instead of being able to focus on comforting her, they were forced to spend precious time driving from pharmacy to pharmacy because your store chose closing time over compassion. Hospice comfort medications exist for one reason--to prevent unnecessary suffering at the end of life. Every minute those medications are delayed is another minute of pain and distress that no dying person should have to endure. Policies matter. Hours matter. But humanity should matter more. I hope Walgreens management thoroughly investigates what happened and asks whether this is truly the standard of care they want associated with their name. No family should ever have to beg for comfort medications while saying goodbye to someone they love. To the hospice nurse who came out in the middle of the night and to Dustin Saylor for helping secure the supplies needed to care for Lisa--thank you. You demonstrated what compassion actually looks like. You were the light in an otherwise heartbreaking and infuriating night. Lisa deserved comfort. Her family deserved better. Walgreens failed them.

The pharmacists at Processional are very experienced & knowledgeable, besides that, they go out of Bri their way to REALLY help, whether you are a customer of theirs or not (they don't even bother asking!!). As a nurse, when I ran across one of those weird, unusual circumstances and needed additional help, Professional Pharmacy is one that I ALWAYS kept on speed-dial. They were ALWAYS willing to help out, even if it did not relate to one of their patients; they would even take time out of their busy day/schedule to research (when necessary) and then they would call me back. I live in Ringgold, Ga., & I STILL use Professional pharmacy! They ALWAYS keep my medication in stock so that I NEVER run out, which was a constant problem at the other pharmacies (in Ringgold and other Dalton pharmacies, where I would wind up going anywhere from 3 days to over a week without my medication!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!)). Their hours are even AMAZING, and are very convenient. The only negative that I have is that there isn't a drive thru, and I only say that because I have severe back issues ands sometimes just getting out of the car is a hardship.

Even after I drop if off a week early and they said they could fill it, they decided they wouldn't. My doctor even called to tell them how unprofessional they were in how they handled this situation. Followup - Jason, the lead pharmacist called after hours to try to help. I greatly appreciate him reaching out, expressing concern, and attempting to help.

All I heard was someone talking about a young lady saying "she's my Kardashian because all she does is sit at the front register with her phone, flipping her hair taking selfies". I continued to peruse as this man continued with "And I have 2 Taylors. One of them you never know what mood she's going to come in with. Sometimes she wants to work and sometimes she doesn't. The other Taylor I had to call HR on. She has really pointed nails and only takes the trash and sets it next to the dumpster, but refuses to put it in. She also refuses to mop the bathroom. She's a diva." He started to keep talking when I called out "Who do you not talk smack about?" The man then came out from the back corner and told me that he was the store manager and could talk about anyone he wanted. He said he was having a private conversation and for me to stop eavesdropping. I told him that he is loud and the whole store can hear him, that I came in to make a purchase and am no longer goi g to spend money in his store. He told me he was explaining to the new employee about other employees. I let him know that all he was doing was talking trash and that he is utterly unprofessional. I then looked at the new employee and told him to be careful that if he talked about all these girls behind their back that he'd do it to him as well. The manager, Michael started yelling at me saying again he's the manager and can say what he wants and for me to mind my business. Walgreens needs to send this "manager" to training or fire him. This is a gross violation of power.
