Had to pick up one prescription. almost got in three accidents in the insane parking lot only to find out that they did not have it ready like their phone system said, AND they were closing the pharmacy to go to lunch. The experience I had at Walmart was one I've never had before. The line at Customer Service was several deep, the ladies (four behind the counter) were chatting loudly to each other. Four behind the counter, two customers being assisted. The rest of us waited in line. When it was my turn, I smiled at the Cashier, hoping to break the stone cold bothered face she had held the entire time I was there to witness. It didn't soften her demeanor. When I started to explain my problem, she interrupted me to advise she couldn't help. I wasn't given time to explain. She just decided she couldn't help. She put her hand in my face and made a grabbing motion. Shocking. She did it twice more. I stooped to her level and made the grabbing motion back. I asked for a manager, hoping the manager would allow me to finish. No luck, no help. The several ladies made such a ruckus and attempted to belittle me (why??) the line of people were giggling. Wow. It was a bit intimidating. I moved to the side, and called Walmart Customer Service, who allowed me to explain what I needed. They were dumbfounded at the reaction I was receiving, and suggested I ask for a "salaried manager". The wonderful rep on the phone, stayed on the phone to hear what transpired next. I advised the salaried manager Walmart was on the line in case I needed further assistance. I was assisted with my original request. Yes, it was taken care of, sadly in doing so another error was made by Walmart. Unbelievable. I can't even imagine having to go back to the store, the service desk, to fix. It's hard to let it go, I was overcharged $9. But is it worth ruining my afternoon speaking to very rude, condescending employees? Not sure. I haven't decided. read more

I have to agree with all other reviews, this place is awful. All because it is a Walmart is not an excuse for the mayhem, chaos and sloppiness of this location. Even the parking lot is filthy, the few times I broke down and went to this location I felt like I should have an armed guard with me. One time I was looking for a particular item, checked on line and it stated this item was in stock and available at this Walmart. The 1300 Des Plaines in Forest Park, Il store is unorganized, poorly stocked, and has a lack of customer service. When I tried to return a tire that I ordered on Walmart.com in store pick up, it turned into a two hour nightmare. The computer system was stating that I could not return the item, when the return policy said that I could. The manager that assisted me, Pedro Gonzalez, was the only one working the customer service counter, and there was about 20 people in line waiting to be serviced. People were becoming more and more irritated, and disgruntled. I was afraid a fight would break out. Pedro initially told me the only way for me to return my item, which was a tire, was for me to return it on my own. This was because the computer system was stating that my item was nonrefundable. I became even more upset and asked him how do I return a tire? After he saw my anger, he then called the customer service number to walmart.com, after another customer finished her 30 minute call. I was on hold about another 30 minutes waiting for someone to pick up on the customer service line. When they did, they proceeded to tell me how my item was refundable. I put Pedro on the phone so that he could receive the same message. He did not believe the agent on the phone and refused to refund my money, until a manager on the walmart.com customer service line stated it was okay to refund my money. That was the worst experience I ever had. I have not returned to that store since the incident, (and I used to spend hundreds of dollars in that store in a month). I always dread going into any Walmart Store, especially the Forest Park, Il store. The shelves are poorly stocked; there is a lack of helpful employees available. The lines are long, and there are never enough cashiers. The cashiers that are available are slow, and unfriendly. The customer service area always has long lines and a lack of employees working within the area. The manager Pedro Gonzalez is unhelpful, and seems to be stretched and over worked. No matter what time of day I visit that store I see him, being pulled into a number of different of directions. In fact, when I used the customer service area, he left the counter unattended for about 10 minutes because cashiers at the registers needed his help. read more

Two good things about this wal-mart store: the cheap prices and the exit door. The ATM is constantly out of order. The parking lot is like a box of old chocolate..you never know wtf you're getting into. The employees look very unhappy (even though they are generally nice). As I think about it..the chaos is not the staff, but its the randomness of the weird people who come in to the store. Tip: shop here before 7am because the cray crays dont get up that early. read more

Not my first choice for anything. They claim low prices, but if you shop around I found that their prices on food are not all that great compared to Utra, Costco or even Jewel on some things. I prefer to speak to the butcher and sometimes get special cuts. None of that is ever available at Walmart. As for electronics - their selection is abysmal compared to HH Gregg, Fry's or even Best Buy. They don't even bother carrying high-end items. There's really nothing I can't get elsewhere that I have to get at Walmart. Walked in here to pick up a few items for some Senior Baskets we're making to donate. I was ready to leave as soon as I walked in. Mostly because of the shoppers..... walk super slow (with a cart of without a cart), stop in the middle of the aisle, shove and push (no "excuse me") - I couldn't shop in those conditions...all I ended up getting were some tote bags - and used self-checkout to get the heck out of there quick!! Today was a first in the many years that I've shopped here at the FP location. The cashier that checked me out today was the most pleasant, kindest, and nicest Wal Mart employee I've ever encountered. Her name was Helen. I'm a little ticked off that when me and my girlfriend were in the 20 items and under line, we tech had 28 items which we counted and we notice the black cashier left my line and we were standing there waiting and we decided since we already put our items on the belt after putting around 17-19 items that we were in the wrong line but I figured the cashier would t say anything since a black customer who was in front of us already had around 40 items and dbl that. What we had for sure , and when that cashier came back this Spanish female manager walks up to us and says that we have to have 20 items or less and I'm like well you guys didn't seem to say anything to that other black lady and why is? And if you had extra cashiers that could open up a register instead of ha omg at least 5 of them standing around talking in front of all the customer by the self checkout lanes we wouldn't have to be in the 20 or less check out line which we were only 8 items over and not 25 , and then she says that it's not her fault and she doesn't makeup the rules and I'm like wait, I hate when people or employees say that crap when it is her job and her responsibility to make her customers happy and were the one spending money there for her to even have a job and she wants to treat me like the criminal here. As a senior advisor I suggest that you get rid of that so call manager who has nothing to do but mess with customers that spend there hard earned money and we could went anywhere else , what an attitude she had and if that black cashier didn't like that we had only 8 items over , she should not be racist against me and my girlfriend because were white/Hispanic ... I bet If I was a white cashier and did that to her she would be making a scene and tell me and Walmart that I'm racist like usual . You lucky we even shop there . You guys need to worry about having more cashiers instead of worrying about how many items YOUR customers have. I detect racism, classism, and plain old "high-hat" at work here in previous reviews: (1) The repeated use of ghetto does reflect a prejudiced attitude, any faint qualification notwithstanding. If a poor area is largely white, it is termed a slum; if the area is mostly Latino, it's called a barrio. Originally, a "ghetto" described a poor Jewish area, such as the "Warsaw Ghetto" in WWII Europe. Later, racists adopted the term for poor African-Americans. (2) My daughter and I shop at the Forest Park Wal-Mart frequently. We usually have a pleasant experience with staff and other customers. I raised myself and her to treat all people as the humans we all are, so people react pleasantly to us as a rule. When one feels contempt for others they generally show it, others know it, and bad interactions almost inevitably ensue. (By the way, we're "white".) (3) Poor spelling, grammar and syntax sharply lessen any credibility a writer might otherwise have. Negative reviewers here, therefore, have displayed carelessness (meaning, no concern for how ignorant they might appear). I can't help feeling suspicious about accuracy in their descriptions. (4) I keep my store receipts until I'm satisfied regarding the transaction. The computer is not God; I wouldn't be surprised to learn that all stores do not uniformly accept emails as proof of purchase. (Original packaging COULD mean a thief is trying get $$$ for an item.) (5) I gave Wal-Mart three stars because of Wal-Mart's policies toward its employees and dictatorial demands of its suppliers, not for staff/customer reasons. Otherwise, five stars. (6) As to "breaking up such a huge company", under current law, a privately-owned family business can't be broken up, no anti-trust laws would apply here. Great location, helpful employees, i am not a citizen - so these things are more than enough for me

Every time I come here I'm fighting the crowds. I thought that I would purchase online and pick up in store to avoid walking through the aisles. As always, it was crowded. I waited over twenty minutes just for someone to come to the area and ask if I needed help. Finally, someone sauntered over and just moved so slow. The service here sucks and I only come here if I absolutely must. Id rather drive an extra ten minutes to get better service. read more

I went to the Garden Center to look for a couple perennials that I wanted for my garden. I was greeted by Lawson, a friendly out going helpful emplemployee. She had just begun reducing some of their plants and showed me everthing that she was about to reduce. Instead of buying the two ore three I came for a left with 73 plants. Lawson loaded them all into carts and brought them to my car where she covered the cars interior with plastic before making room for all the plants. I wish I can give a zero to this store! my mother was treated rudely at this store by a cashier at 1:32 pm on 05/01/17 and his supervisor. Not only did they not honor a pricing mistake that was made on an item, they took back the item and told her if she really wanted it try going online for a cheaper price! Furthermore, after my mother removed the bags herself one was left behind and instead of him handing it to her he simply pointed at it and made her come around to grab it herself! On top of this another female cashier yelled "Andale Andale" to my mother and aunt who speak perfect English! We will never go back to this store! this store has always been a joke and your leadership is atrocious! Shame on you treating a senior citizen or anyone for that fact like this! read more

Called twice asking to be transferred to a specific dept and was hung up on BOTH times! What kinda place is this?

I have always gone to the Countryside WalMart since they are a Super Walmart open 24/7. Never went to Forest park even tho I lived less than 10 minutes away because I knew from the stories to keep away. Well, last week I went there for the first time during the day and saw that it's now a Super Walmart as well. Except that means Super Trashy. Awful. What a hot mess. I think tonight was my last trip to a Walmart ever. As usual, there were a billion people there on a Thursday night, and 4 or 5 registers open. It's bad enough its a pandemic but there was no enforcement of social distancing at all. A little girl was coughing and she had no mask on. NO ONE was standing far away from each other. I went to the 20 items or less line since I had a few items. There were 2 ladies in front of me with FULL shopping carts. Once the cash register employee checked them out, she mentioned it was 20 items or less but didn't fight just checked them out! I literally waited in line for one hour and 3 minutes. I timed it. Lastly, as one of the ladies was leaving, the register lady asked her quietly if she forgot to pay for something. She had pj's in her cart that she didn't pay for yet. So that took another 10 minutes. I will pay more money elsewhere as of now. I hope the mgr Paul reads this. read more

Went to pick up my photos after I received a text saying they were ready. After I found the photo department, I stood there for someone to show up and no one ever came. I had to find an employee in another department. She could not find my photos although she said the computer said they were done and ready. I asked for a manager and we find out that the employee who was supposed to be didn't show up and that I should come back later. But I couldn't. The manager, Pedro, went to make a call and I didn't come back. I sat there for an hour. The pictures were a graduation present for my student with special needs. Won't be getting the photos in time and will go to walgreens for my photos read more

I've been to this location a few times and have had favorable experiences. Once such Christmas 2014 during a very busy time I was looking for the Christmas trees and since I wasn't familiar with the store layout asked an employee. What many people have said here is correct. Not many people working in store have any knowledge. If you ask for a bulb that should give you white light.. they do not have any clue. If you further ask any questions, they will tell something wrong and try to get away. I requested if I can check the bulb that I purchased (if it gives white light). Answer was NO. You cannot check in store. Go to home , check it and if no white light then come back. I stay in downtown and cannot make frequent visits to this place. This particular area is not so good, if you go to forest park CTA (blue line) after 7PM. You will probably pray that train should come soon and you should run reach home as soon as possible. read more

Went to this Walmart as recommended by a friend. HORRIBLE!!! Items are misplaced. There are limited price labels on the shelves. There were no employees seen throughout the aisles. What appeared to be a district manager was fussing at and bossing the store manager around telling him what he needed to tell his employees. He went to direct employees as he was told. Employees responded inappropriately loud about how that was not going to work. Once I gathered the few items I NEEDED to purchase, I stood in a checkout lane for close to 15 minutes - there were only 2 customers ahead of me! I will not visit this location again. read more

I wouldn't recommend shopping here. I was on my way home from work and decided to shop for a few items since it was on my way. Big mistake. It's nearly impossible to find an employee to receive help. And if you're lucky enough to find someone, they'll send you to the wrong location or they'll stare at you like you have 2 heads. Terrible customer service. There are a mix of customers that I encountered. You either get the polite, quiet customers or the extremely rude and obnoxious ones. There are far more of the latter. The place is hard to find and not Newell organized. The staff is not entirely helpful. The bathrooms could get better maintenance.

Maddness from the time you enter til you leave. The most disturbances are from the workers! Talking loud to each other about each other, talking on their phones so everybody can hear, Cursing, complaining about management, waisting time, won't help if you ask, have no nowledge about the store or it's products or inventory.
