WalMart in general inspires a visceral reaction. (Think to Gabriel Iglesias, "Oh hell no!") In a way, I love that they are trying to hire veterans; I love the low prices. When I think of how they bully employees, cheat around "full time" laws, and of course PeopleOfWalMart.com... I digress. This WalMart: + Better variety here - The roads around here are to' up from the flo' up - Both the employees and over 90% of the clientele here are insanely rude. I saw an employee get an attitude vocally and with all kinds of terrible facial expressions to customers who kept queueing in her line after she turned off the lane light. She told the customers in the front of line to yell at those behind them to express that the lane is officially closed. I was waiting for the voice talent from Real Housewives to begin a PSA. Meanwhile, I don't know if they were employees or customers, but my cart has been jacked and everything in it left on the floor for someone to trip on. Really? Speaking of, the carts are massive, and the people driving them must be the same crazies on the Houston roadways. They will knock you down, run into, take up the whole aisle... all because they either don't care, think they can outrun you, or they are purposefully ignorant of their surroundings. Of course, there are no hand-baskets. Do yourself a favor. Avoid this place like you would the Black Plague. There's a so-so Target up the street. read more

All the naysayers about Walmart seem to miss the mark and are probably unhappy anywhere they shop. Snypie little people that can't handle a little inconvenience in their rush to fulfill their own cart disregarding the efforts that Walmart primarily and all stores are faced with a problem of slow delivery of goods and lack of ability to keep hiring and training new personnel in a time of low unemployment. Be patient, your not the only person inconvenient in this time of slow delivery empty shelves. Ok, now I have learned my lesson. This one falls under "fool me twice" category. I guess after going to the Wal-Mart in Katy a couple of times and seeing that it is possible to run one with decent people and service, I tried to get my oil changed at this place again. This place is a complete disaster. I think the managers have completely given up and are letting the patients run the asylum. Where to begin...Again, there was one car ahead of me and this time instead of yelling at me when I pulled up, they were yelling and cussing at each other. I guess one lube-fellow was upset with the lube-lady (surely they can't be called mechanics) because she was inside instead of helping them out. So after agreeing to the $26 "special", I went in and was taking in all that is Wal-Mart - That is to say angry customers, absolutely zero employee morale, and just a poisonous working environment. I could overhear them telling customers they can't do tire work that day and they are short handed. Well no shit you're short handed. Who enjoys working at Wal-Mart with management that doesn't give them the tools, training, and guidance to make customers happy? After an hour or so, I saw my car was no longer in the port, so I went to get it and was told they couldn't service it because there was some oil leakage around the valve and it was low on oil. So imagine you go to a gas station and try to get gas, and they tell you "sorry, your car is low on gas, we can't sell you gas". Supposedly it's a policy to protect themselves but the whole thing sounded fishy so I decided to get the oil myself and change it later, but the odd thing was they were out of my oil filter. Usually if one brand is out, I can find the other brand or the premium version, but they were OUT. I asked someone in the area (who was struggling with a locked register and angry customers who were being forced to pay for automotive in electronics) and they told me that is all they have. Of course, the next logical question is "waaaait a minute. You tell me you couldn't change my oil because it was too low on oil and had a leak that never drips a drop of oil on my parking spot, and you also happen to be out of oil filters...well how were you planning on changing my oil had it not had a 'leak' and was full of oil?" *crickets* I went and talked to the head lube guy who claimed to be a manager (I know this trick, when you see angry customers, say you're the manager to avoid getting wrote up) and he was saying they keep a different supply down in the bunker. Sure they do. Full disclosure, My car has high mileage so perhaps it does lose a little oil after 3 months, but it has never leaked. I checked it again when I changed my oil and there was absolutely no leaks. After checking it, it was exactly one quart short which is not bad for an older car. Maybe the lube guys are following policy, maybe they were out of oil filters and didn't want to look bad, maybe they were short handed so they wanted to move the line along, but whatever the reason, avoid this area and especially the automotive department. There are actually decent Wal-Mart automotive departments but this is a disaster. Maybe if those high above in an office will notice automotive work has dropped by 300% and do something about it, but right now, it's chaos, angry workers, and non-existent management. read more

Auto Center Review Is no stars possible because this happened to be the WORST service I have had even for Walmart. Im not sure WHY they do not operate like the other locations. When following the lanes that guide you to the entrance of the garage then was told that you must go park then walk in to the cashier and pay for service. The line there was extremely long and there was only one cashier who was very CLUELESS. When I requested synthetic oil change someone came outside to make sure I could have synthetic oil. I went on tax free weekend and it was crazy to say the least. The school supplies section was a complete mess and everyone was trying to fit into 3 aisles with their shopping carts. It was too much. I walked around to other sections and left my cart so I could get to other aisles easily. When I came back someone had taken my things out of my cart and put it on the side. So don't leave your cart because lazy people come by and steal it!! How rude. My cashier was surprisingly nice! I bought a pillow and noticed there was a tear in it so she held my cart for me and let me walk back to the section to replace it. That means a lot especially since it was such a busy day. I imagined she would've thrown me an attitude for being 'difficult', but she was smiling and accommodating I like going to wal mart because of the cheap prices but this wal mart is not in an area that's safe. I walked out and this random man kept talking to me and asking to help me with my groceries so he can get a dollar. He was definitely not a wal mart worker....just a creepy dude. I would never come here at night. When I am here I try to make sure I have my list of things to grab and leave as soon as possible. Go there at 8 when the lube department opens and you're the first in line. Otherwise, prepare to wait anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour. However, one sweet morning when I decided to get my oil change, the manager came out and told me that they couldn't do it because the bolt to my oil pan was stripped and they couldn't drain the oil. Well, considering that I always had my oil change at this Wal-Mart, guess who stripped it? We argued and argued, and he just returned my key and send me on my way. So, I had to spend a pretty big chunk of money getting not only my oil changed, but I had to replace the oil pan also!!! Thanks, Walmart! Also, did I mention about the long lines? Oh wait, I did. If you're just looking to grab something quick and you just want to go in and out. This is definitely NOT the place to go. Like everyone mentioned, the Target down the street is the place to go! And I don't get this "Walmart is cheap" BS because the prices at walmart are really not that cheap. If anything, they're about the same or more with HEB for groceries, and even when they do have cheaper items, their quality is totally questionable. There is an infestation of birds in the parking lot. I understand is hard to know what nature is going to bring but Walmart's parking lot and facilities are always trashy and not well taken care that I blame it on their management. Reading the other reviews about this particular Walmart had me shuddering at the thought that I need to stop in here for something. I was told that the best time to get in here is after 11 pm and pretty much was on the dot. I only had to wait about 10 minutes to get through the check out. Parking lot is pretty much dark for what it is and seemed to need an update but no shabby characters roaming around at that time and my vehicle was not broken into this time. This location is outdated, compared to many of the Walmarts nowadays. Came here while running errands to find one little thing. I figured Walmart has everything, where's the closest one, right? Wrong. They didn't have it, or if they did... no one knows where it is. This location has a lot of employees which is great... but on both sides of the store, I found the ones in their areas just chillin, standing around talking amongst themselves. When I went over to the houseware section, each employee I met to ask where the item was, didn't speak english! Huge language barrier and the one guy who speaks a little english that tried helping, had an attitude. Epitome of the worst Walmart in the nation. Ok might be a bit of an exaggeration but this Walmart is just SO horrible in every single way possible. It's so unfortunate that I need to frequent it since I live right next to it. Every time I go it hurts me because every visit is just as bad as the other. Customer service is nonexistent. They seem understaffed but they're really not. So many employees are in the back or just hanging out in random aisles rather than having more cashiers. More often than not there's only TWO lines open with literally people waiting all the way back to the aisles. It's just so ineffective!! How does management not notice this and improve it?! So many times you can never find carts inside. Employees don't return them at all. You'll notice there's carts everywhere around the parking lot except where it actually belongs inside!! STAY AWAY! Epitome of incompetence. I took my car to the Automotive Center for a battery replacement. I was told that I had to pick it up three same day and they could not keep it over night. This disrupted a few plans, but should be worth it in order to fix my car. I was quoted an hour and a half because there were 3 cars ahead of mine. After a 2 hour wait, I tried to call and was on hold for over an hour. Long enough for me to drive back to the location and ask in person why I was still on hold. The attendant was at the desk talking to his friend in Arabic. He and his friend began talking about me in Arabic...well, for the most part. I guess switching between languages is tough for him because he started talking about me to his friend in English. Supposedly they tried to call me and had the wrong number and I was only met with sarcasm and he seemed annoyed despite the mistake being in his part. If I had it to do over again, I would have paid a little more to have AAA replace my battery. read more

I have never been in a store (let alone a grocery store!) and walked out thinking that if I touched my face I would end up with pink eye. And that pretty much sums up just how disgusting this place is. I keep a pretty large bottle of hand sanitizer in my car and after "shopping" here I was literally bathing in it. Some other reasons one should really *try* to avoid this Walmart: -Loooooooooong lines. I think the seasons may have changed while I was waiting to check out... -Be wary of purchasing any refrigerated items (especially generic Walmart brands). Many I found scattered about the store warm and defrosted just beckoning to be placed back on the shelf for some unsuspecting consumer to purchase. -Very poor quality of fruits/veggies. In fact, while inspecting the strawberries, one container I picked up had strawberries eaten out of it with the remaining tops thrown back INTO the container!!!!!! Ewwwwwwwwwww, gross!!!! I'm all for saving money and in most cases, despite their imperfections, don't usually detest Walmarts but this place takes the cake. If you're ever having a perfectly fine day, and would like to take a proverbial boot to the face of your fine day, then shop at this Walmart. At one point in my life, I truly believed that all Walmarts were created roughly equal. Not so. This Walmart is supremely sub-par. Let me count the ways: 1. Bloody chicken juice trail. One time, I came to this Walmart at midnight in hopes of avoiding the typical 15-minute wait in line. I cued up at one of the 3 lanes they had open at midnight, and noticed a trail of blood on the ground. My first thought was, wow, it's finally happened. Someone has been shanked and shoved in the shelves. Figures. I followed the trail of blood with my eyes, and it lead to a woman with an entire cart of melting (formerly frozen) chickens. She must have been trotting around training for a Supermarket Sweep-style marathon, because there was a small pond of bloody chicken juice beneath her cart, and behind her. Or this may give you an indication of how long the lines are, even at midnight. 2. Smoked cigarettes. My husband asked me to pick up a carton of cigarettes for him. The clerk found a carton, but said, there is one pack missing. She asked if it was ok if she replaced the missing pack with one pack from the single boxes for sale. Fine. I get home, and it turns out, not only had the carton been opened, but one of the packs at the bottom had been opened and some of the cigarettes were missing. 3. Children in the shelves. Unless you have eyes in your knees, be careful. While looking for a particular Corningware dish one day, I was rifling through the bottom shelf, to find a pair of little eyes peeking out at me. I moved one big box, and a kid comes tumbling off the shelf teeheeing and takes off. Two other kids come careening around the aisle and proceed to beat the first kid with pool floats. Where are their parents? Oh, right there next to me. Also looking for a particular Corningware dish. Priorities are clear: Corningware before kids. Where are the Walmart employees? Not sure. Probably outside smoking the cigarettes that were missing from that carton. 4. Lack of products on the shelves. Even if you look up a product online and it says "in-store," don't expect to find it at this Walmart. Quite likely, children were building a fort out of the box your item came in, so the chances of you finding what you were looking for are slim. Unless you were looking to buy some children. I could go on, but this review is long enough. I do have one good thing to say about this Walmart: this is a primo location to snap pics for People of Walmart. Last time my BF and I were at this Walmart, our car had died and we needed a battery. They didn't have our car's battery, and they were too lazy to find a Walmart store that did. So we ended up at Auto Zone. That's not the reason I'm writing this review though... This review is based on the phone call I just had with this store. My friend just told me she's sending me a Walmart gas card, and since this store is close to me, I thought I'd call and see if they had a gas station. The woman who answered said they did not. I asked her if she knew where I could find one. With a very annoyed sigh, she said, "No, I do not." I think a customer approached her, because she started talking to someone else that was not me. Finally she said (with the same annoyed attitude), "Just call 1800-Walmart." Turns out, calling this number gives you nothing but an automated system. You can't even talk to a real person. It did, however, give me the number of another Walmart. I called them, and they gave me directions to my closest Walmart gas station. About the only good thing about Walmart is reading the reviews of this one on Yelp. I just about shit my pants when I read the review about the woman with the bloody chicken juice running all over the floor... Oh wait, I did SMP. And speaking about shit, I've got my disgusting WM story as well. Afew months ago, i walked into the bathroom. I was met with the most foulest of odors. I looked down by stall two. it was as if a 350 lb guy just chowed down on 8 plates of food at the Golden Corral buffet and didn't quite make it to the toilet, depositing about five lbs of half turd, half diarrhea right in front of the commode.... Ok, but I digress. Personally, I only go to WM for the cheap tomato juice and the very cheap Mezzetta sweet cherry peppers. If you've not experienced the delicious goodness of these peppers, you've gotta go to Walmart and pickup a few jars. But don't go right after me because there won't be any left!! We usually empty t he shelves of these little gems as they're so delicious and a super bargain at $1.72. Bottom line though... If you go to WM and can escape with your stuff without experiencing any sort of disgusting behavior by their mostly foul customers or employees, as well as any other random acts of grotesqueness or sheer stupidity, then mark it off as a good day... As on your next trip to WM you will most likely not be so fortunate. read more

I am shocked.. No one has reviewed the worse wal-mart in Houston. This place makes me want to bathe immediately after exiting. This store is horrible. Terrible. And makes me irritable. (A lil Jesse Jackson for ya.) This place recently went through a remodel and it still is poorly designed. Faux wood floors don't go well with stark white tiles. And what's up with the black register markers? I don't get it. The shelves are completely messy. The isles are a joke. All of the products look ran through, there's never enough checkers, and the clientele is questionable. Even the automotive section is odd. Can't make a key cause the machine is broken. Can't help me with a stereo because you're not sure how. Can't do an oil change cause it's a Mercedes. (Ok that's not their fault, it's mine. Why would I let wally world touch my car?). First, they throw all their trash out of the car then go in the store and walk around proudly in pajamas or with their pants pulled down. The store would be just fine if it had better customers. Do you know the feeling you get when you are walking alone on an empty street... you hear funny sounds and your heart beats just a little fast when you see a shadow? Here's a secret I'll only share with Yelpers :3 But don't go telling everyone, otherwise we'll all be screwed! If I'm only there for two or three items, I run to the jewelry/automotive cashier to check out :) I don't want to spend half an hour in line behind people who have five bajillion things stuffed into cart when I've only got a handful of stuff. Plus, it's not like I'm holding up the line at the other registers? Be polite and courteous if you plan on using these other registers. They're doing you a favor ;) I will not EVER come to this location ALONE at night. My boyfriend always escorts me because I feel like I'll be kidnapped. Sometimes we go in the middle of the night, and some of the light posts in the parking lot are broken so half of the lot is in darkness! Talk about horror movie, man.
