Unfortunately, I'll join the chorus of unpleasant experiences shared by fellow reviewers. This store is very conveniently located and had all the toiletries we needed at great prices. However, the grocery section was a different story. Not sure if we just came in a restocking day, but many of the shelves were barren (check out the pics)... Fortunately the Super Target up the street carried all the items we needed with great customer service and good pricing as well. read more

Rude customer service at the customer service counter today. I tried to exchange a product with a similar item--same price. The power hungry women was rude and decided for her own reason to deny an exchange or refund to a gift card. I visited the target store closest to me and they gladly gave me a refund on a card. I went back to the other store in south KC and purchased the item with the gift card. Because of the rude behavior of the customer service person in forcing me to go back and forth. She has forced me to never go back to any target store. read more

A eulogy for a once great retail company. I used to work at Walmart, a long time ago... in a far away place. When I worked there they had a process to call floor associates onto the registers to make sure customers didn't have to wait. Now they let customers check themselves out if they want to save time. When I worked there we were expected to ask any customers within 10 feet if we could help them find anything. Now you can't find anyone and on the rare occasion you do they misinform you that the store doesn't have what you want or they tell you they work in a different department and they don't know. I have been there twice this year, and I spent more time at the register than I did shopping. Tonight there were two people on the register and six Walmart associates milling around the front of the store not checking out customers. One CSM stopped by in the next register to pull money... not to help get customers out the door. While waiting in line tonight I mentioned many of these thoughts to those behind me while we waited. The gentleman behind me said, "You only go to Walmart when you have no other options." My father asked me what I was doing on the phone just now, and when I mentioned my plans to write a review of my poor experience he said, "They don't care." Don't bother to call them to let them know about this review... no one will answer the phone. This company is headed down the same path as K-Mart. Bankruptcy. read more

I would rate them a zero if I could. I understand why they have a 2 rating. I am a caregiver purchased the inaccurate blood glucose monitoring system, Lansing device, ketone test strips. The products have never been used and were purchased yesterday. However, they tell me I can't return them. I've already been waiting. 15 minutes to even speak to a supervisor, Rhonda. I will be writing the Attorney General concerning this. It's ridiculous that when a caregiver picks up the wrong items the caregiver is penalized when they can clearly tell these boxes have never been opened. Worst store ever!!! I've driven half way across town TWINE! Bc their stupid AP said they had organic milk in stock! BOTH TIMES they DIDNT!!! GRRRR!!! The second time I ordered for curbside pickup. Walmart at 135th and Stateline - Tried calling several different times, no answer in customer service or curbside grocery pickup. Tried for over an hour to reach someone - never answered the phone. This store is poorly managed, employees like to socialize while I am waiting on my groceries to be brought out, very frustrating. It definitely shows they do not care about their customers. We used the online order pickup for the first time and I was very pleased with the process and how well they did, including bagging my food correctly. Yes they usually only have 2 lines open at this store but keep in mind that all restaurants and stores are VERY short staffed and it's not THEIR fault. I have ordered from this store three times and they said that the item was ready for pick up and they said they did not have the item I had an sales associate to look for my order and we went and looked on the shelf and I talked with the Associate that is over that department and she would not even try and substitute the item(s). And they take 5 business days to put my money back into my account when they had no problem with taking it out. read more

I needed a bike chain and had no clue what I was looking for being stranded 10+ from home. Josh didn't just help me buy a new chain but made sure the chain was on and I was safe to leave the store. This review is ONLY regarding Walmart's Online Grocery Shopping and Pick-up service: I used the grocery pick-up for the first time today and it was great! (I've previously used HyVee's delivery & pick-up service several times which is also great.) The service is free and the listed items were easy to locate online. I shopped for groceries as well as a few toiletries (toilet paper, dusting spray, etc.,.) It was not only easy to use the website, but also just as easy to pick-up. There is a minimum purchase of $30 to use this service and they allow you to refer others which gives $10 off* a $50 purchase when they use your personalized link for the grocery pick-up service. Checked an item on their app and shows they have it in stock, so I drove 20 mins to get it. Drove out to the store and couldn't find the item even though app still shows in stock. That's fine as I understand the app may not be up to date all the time. I tried to speak with a customer service person for help, I had the item pulled up on my phone, took one glance at my phone and sent me to the wrong area. I went back to check again with her, even though I was looking for NFL trading cards, she sent me to electronics, I thought it was weird but went there anyway. Spoke with a gentleman at electronics and he was a little more helpful but suggested I speak to a manager that was walking by. So I did, I said, "Excuse me, would you be able to check a stock for me?" She rudely said,"Weren't you just speaking to him?" Kind of took me off guard, all I could muster was, "Yes, he said to talk to you." She acted as if I couldn't be any more of a bother to her. Came on my lunch break to get photos developed. Stood in line behind ONE other customer. Finally after thirty minutes, the assistant manager looks at us sitting down at this point and says "Picking up pictures?" We said we were dropping off and she continues to make zero eye contact whatsoever with us. After another five minutes or so of watching her shuffle through drawers not even helping the man in front of us, I was already late for my lunch break, no photos to even be developed or even an answer so we just left. This Wal-Mart has a pretty good selection especially if you like local sports items. However, there are many problems that I've faced since going. Optical: I came in with a presecription so I don't know about the Optometrist. I also brought my own frames and just needed lenses. The lady that took my specs was very pleasant. I came to walmart because their lens prices were better than Target. That's the extra star. Otherwise, one star for sure. When I came to pick up my glasses I had to wait for a while for someone to appear... then this girl sauntered to the counter and fetched my glasses. She didn't offer to adjust my glasses or ask me how they fit or anything. So I told her they needed to be adjusted. She didn't ask in what way...she took them to the back and brought them back completely warped. I don't mean a little...I mean they looked like goggles. I gasped... I mean I literally gasped...the curve was so extreme I'm surprised they didn't snap. I told her that this was not right. She said "what do you mean? " I showed her the glasses I was wearing and said this is right and motioned to the glasses she "fixed" and this is wrong. It should have looked liked this [ but looked like this (. She had the audacity to say that if there was something wrong with the glasses that I brought them in that way. It was her immediate default... like she says it a few times a day. I asked to speak with someone who actually knew about glasses, but no one was there... lunch, ya know? I took my new side car glasses and regretted my walmart decision. I ended up taking them to Target to get them fixed.... I was surprised it was possible. Also, I paid extra for antiglare and I'm pretty sure they didn't put it on there since I have to switch to a different pair at night because the glare is terrible. read more

The prices and the self checkout are the only reason to shop here. Their staff can't tell you where products are even if they are standing in front of the product. What I dislike most about this store is that they don't run off the homeless people at the exit who spit on your car if you don't give them money. The homeless also roam their parking lot begging for "gas" money. read more

Wal-mart would get five stars if they'd deploy more cashiers. They have great prices and a decent selection of most things. They have had green/sustainability initiatives underway since 2005 that would make most eco-freaks out there blush. I would concede that there is room for improvement, but I don't here the same noise being made about most other big-box retailers [Lowes, Home-Depot, Target, K-Mart, etc]. This is a good company and will do better than most in a bad economy. While other lay off and close shop, Wal-mart will just chug along and save me money while they make money... and THAT is good business! I frequently order groceries online to pick up at 133rd and State Line Rd. For whatever reason there have been problems recently. Yesterday I placed an order. At the designated time, I received notice my order was ready. When I got to the store, I notified I was there, then the status changed to "delayed". I went back home and again received notice my order was ready, so I went back. An associate came out and asked my name and said they would be right out. I waited 30 minutes and no one came. I went back home for a second time. Again, I received notice my order was ready (the pick up time was 6-7 and it was 10:00 pm). This time there were several cars and had been waiting. Some of us got out of our cars and knocked on the door. 2 associates came out. One said "I wiill get her order, and you get his". After another 30 minute wait I tried calling 3 times and it rang many, many times and no one ever answered. I left and cancelled my order. Even though the store is 6 minutes from my home. I don't shop at this location often, but I've never had any issues here. What makes this location nice for me, it's close to where I get my haircut, and they sell alcohol. :-) Oh, at a very cheap price! Grocery side is nice, with some selections you don't see at all stores (emphasis on Mexican selections). DVD and book sections are nice, and there's a Subway attached if you're hungry. read more

I placed a phone call to this Walmart to speak to customer service looking for a lost credit card. I let it ring the first time for 22.34 minutes with no answer. I then handed the phone to my husband and he continued to hold while I called on another line. I ask the operator to page a manager for me and she was not happy but I heard her page a manager on line 3 and then she put me on hold - never got an answer from Michelle after another 10.23 minutes. Finally called one more time and a different operator answered and I told her why I was calling (which I had done before with the other operator) and she was so nice and said she would go to the office and check for the cc - her name was Betsy Graham. Walked 25' from the register to the door only to be forced to set all my bags down and find my receipt to be scanned by the clerk. Unnecessary waste of my time. All my items could have been bought at Western Auto where they let me walk out the door with out a frisking. Best Buy also has their act together where I can walk out the door with several hundred dollars worth of items checked out at the register and no hassle at the door. There too many other retailers who do not treat me like a criminal. Walmart will alway be last on my list for shoping. read more

All my groceries were bagged! I have been a loyal Walmart customer for years and am even a Sam's member where you show your receipt as you leave. I've been to this stores a few times, and it's been better than the average Walmart. It's been maybe a year since I've been inside this store, but I'm writing this review specifically about their new grocery pick up option. I hate grocery shopping, walking all over the store gathering your stuff, waiting in line, unloading your groceries unto the conveyor, putting the bags in the car....It's all a big hassle, especially if you have heavy items, and very time consuming. When I learned that this location was offering a grocery pick up option I had to try it. and I must say, my two experiences have been exceptional. You order online, which allows you to see the total and make some budget decisions before actually having to pay (so no surprises at checkout), and you book the order (you have to book the order 24 hrs before you intend to pick up. Seems like a long time, but it's a non-issue for me). Once you book, you'll choose a window of one hour during which you will pick up your order. Fifteen minutes before your pickup window starts you'll get a call confirming your items are ready. You should call about ten minutes before you actually get there to speed up the process (seems a bit redundant since they already called you to let you know the items were picked out, but maybe it helps with their logistics to know when your close to actually being there). You drive up to one of the pick up spots and tell them what number spot you're in, and in about 5 minutes some one will roll out you groceries and put them in your trunk, you don't even have to get out of the car if you don't want to. You sign the receipt on their handheld device and you're done. There are a few things to keep in mind. If you are particular about the produce or meats you buy, you may want to avoid buying these through the grocery pick up. I bought some salad bowls and usually spend some time reaching to the back to get the ones with expiration dates that are 7-10 days out. The ones I got were 5 days out, which is ok but it possible that you can get stuff closer to expiration than you'd like. Also, for example yo might get a cut of beef that is not to you liking, or produce that is too ripe, or not ripe enough. If they don't have your item they'll try to replace it with a comparable item, but you don't find out until you pick up the groceries. In our case they didn't have the bistro bowl santa fe salad, and replaced it with their store brand mexican salad which is much larger (and expensive) for the same price. It worked out great for us, but it may not work out that way for everyone. There doesn't seem to be an option for alternative instructions, should they not have your item. They guys making the deliveries have been about the nicest Walmart employees I've ever met, and the last time I even got a goodie bag with some sample items. Overall a great experience, looking forward to trying this more in the future. read more

Pick up service is badass! Who knew it would be so easy picking stuff up. Yes sometimes they don't have the stuff that you ordered. Oh will man, eff it, it's nice not having to walk around the store and get my stuff. The fact that it's free is pretty badass as well. The workers here are pretty awesome. I haven't ran into a bad one yet! The only reason it has one star down is because the bathrooms were pretty bad the last time I did go in there. Hopefully they get better though. Is this store closing? Used to be the best in the KC area, but every time I go in there now a days the shelves are bare. Not sure who is in charge of hiring but recently every time I go in there I always come across a group of employees huddled up, laughing & carrying on loudly. I've even seen a couple talking on their cell's while stocking shelves. If you ask for help they act so put off. I won't be returning. My husband had to tell him no so he would stop asking. Cashier gave my receipts to my husband instead of me. The cashier literally refused to hand them to me. It is rated 4 stars if I shop myself and when it isn't busy, however if you do shop and need assistance, and especially in the tire and battery department...GHETTO! It is a 2 star at best. Hence, 3 stars for the overall rating. Typical super Walmart store, and sometimes you get pretty good deals. read more
