I visited Hitide for the first time today and had a lovely experience. The workers were incredibly nice and even wished me a good day by my name on my way out (what a great memory)! The space is very bright and cute - great for a visit to read or doodle (I did a little doodling of the shop during my visit). They even have a little shop area with some super cute and unique KC gear. I had a hot hazelnut latte and it was just okay, the flavor was pretty bland in my opinion and it was automatically served in a to go cup which bums me out. I like to sit and enjoy my coffee right there and love a good hot mug, it's part of the visit experience to me. The cute shop and incredible staff made my visit itself great overall, but the coffee could be leveled up a bit. Nonetheless, I would visit again :) read more

So the place itself was very cool and I loved the decor and ambience! However, the wait was a lot longer than I normally experience grabbing a coffee. I do appreciate the good quality though and thankfully had some time to kill. It isn't a place I would go if I was in a rush, but it great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. There wasn't a line when I went in, but there were quite a bit of people seated around. I got an iced hazelnut oat latte that tasted great. This was my first time, There is a LOT going on. The coffee shop itself has a cool tiki bar feel with a bunch of tiki stuff on the walls. They have food options but I didn't order any of them. The Price for a 24oz latte with 4 espresso shot was a good price. They was a steady foot traffic throughout the time I was there, but never really busy. Lots of seating area. 2 visits, 2 Dole Whips. If you can find Dole Whip in my hometown of STL, I have no idea where it is. I love this stuff so much I can't believe I went months between visits. This is the absolute best spot to catch up on work with a delightful snack. They have a variety of goodies from coffee to acai bowls and also pastries. All with the BEST Hawaiian vibe. Process is pay at the counter then pick up your food at the counter when it's ready. Smooth process, then you take your seat among green palms and Hawaiian decor, throw in some Hawaiian music and you have Hitides. I love this place. read more

Visiting KC and this place was one of the recommend places on Yelp! I reaaaaally wanted to like this place. I will say-- anterior, decor, and ambiance; yes definitely see the Hawaiian vibes. The staff was also really kind and helpful, esp with all the questions I had. However, the coffee itself was underwhelming. I've definitely had better elsewhere. Just wasn't my cup of Joe! And that's okay, I'm glad I gave it a shot! Cute place to visit, and a great study space. They also carry some sweet treats that I missed out on, but maybe I'll have to give it another shot! Today, my husband and I stopped in to try out this coffee shop and we were glad that we did! We really liked the ambience and the decor of it. It's a casual, relaxing place to enjoy a coffee or tea as well as Mr. D's donuts. The service was good and our order came out quickly. They have a good amount of seating that is comfortable. My husband got a berry hibiscus tea and a maple macadamia nut donut. He said both were good. I had a sugar free caramel iced oat milk latte. The espresso was good but the sugar free syrup was a bit too saccharine tasting for me. The bathroom has cool art work and was clean but out of paper towels at the time of our visit. My matcha of the day was a Salted Caramel Matcha with Salted Cold Foam, and my boyfriend ordered the Toasty Coast Coconut Cinnamon Latte. Once again, as someone who doesn't typically drink coffee, I was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed his latte. This seasonal drink (must try for the coffee lovers) is bold and flavorful, with sweet notes of toasted marshmallow and a hint of coconut that balances it out so perfectly. My matcha was smooth and subtle, but the added salted caramel gave it a punch of flavor that made it so tasty. Since we do not eat much, we also shared the Spicy Hawaiian Honey Pizza Bagel, with one half topped with pepperoni and the other just cheese. The portion was more than enough for the both of us, as we both only ate half of or halved bagel, but every bite was beyond delicious, packed with sweet and spicy flavors throughout! This is my favorite coffee shop in Kansas City. I've been going for several years now. It's perfect for me because I'm not a huge coffee drinker and there's plenty on the menu aside from coffee like teas, juices, Matcha, chai etc. They also have so many fun treats and things to eat like açai bowls, Meshuggah bagels, doughnuts, banana bread, and they're constantly coming up with new menu items. The café itself is so adorable and aesthetic. There's so many little areas to not only sit and relax and get some work done, but also take pictures. The staff and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. They're always doing fun events for first Fridays, for example! Love love love the Hawaiian ambiance. I've never been in a more relaxing coffee shop. The plants, decors, and Hawaiian music felt like a piece of paradise in the heart of downtown KC. Barista was super nice, and we also chatted with the owner who was delightful! Loved hearing about the inspiration behind the shop and how much they give back. Coffee was a bit in the pricey side- I'll have to come back and try another drink. Dounut Diary Entry # (who knows what) - HITIDES Coffee Since I'm not a caffeine connoisseur, I can only judge this place on its doughnuts, and they are by far something to brag about. These fluffy yeast doughnuts are only offered in a few flavors, and each one has an island flair. Head to their website to learn more about artisan collective that shares this space... the weekend we were in town, HITIDES was hosting the Lei Away tiki festival, so we had the option of a ukelele class and tropical flower arranging workshop other expressions and opportunities roll through over the course of the year. But the coffee. It's delicious. I ordered the iced orange latte; not too sweet and very refreshing. Of special note: the have Dole Whip! And in addition to pineapple, on this visit they also had coconut and the two could be ordered swirled, SWOON! I stopped into HITIDES Coffee this past Sunday for the first time. It was busy and a bit of a wait but the staff handled it well (and was short an employee so this is prob not the norm). The space has a laid back vibe with a lot of plants and fun Hawaiian-themed decor. There's definitely no shortage of things to look at. As far as seating, there are several different options - a few counter spots, multiple couches, and several small tables. I ordered a Cold Brew and the Citrus Avocado Bagel Toast, on an Everything Bagel (but there's the option to instead have a plain bagel). The bagel comes with both cream cheese and avocado spread but this might be a vegan-friendly option if you hold the cream cheese. I would have preferred the Cold Brew to be stronger but it wasn't bad. Overall a solid option if you're in the area! read more

I came to HITIDES several weeks ago to meet a colleague and overall felt that this spot has a lot going for it, though, it's not my favorite coffee shop in town. The good: 1. I love this location. It's so smart to have a coffee spot in this part of the Crossroads, and it helps anchor the shops around it. I hope that this area continues to grow and that this cafe sticks around and grows with it. 2. The ambiance is super fun and different from anywhere else in town. Is it a bit cheesy? Yeah, but you've got to lean into that to really enjoy yourself here. The bad: 1. There were no specialty drinks on the menu that caught my eye so I just got my usual americano and it was fine. Pretty standard but it didn't stand out at all. 2. There was a lot of construction going on like in the shop when we were meeting so it didn't make for the best work spot. For me, since I work from home, it's great if a coffee shop can offer a spot to do some work, but if you're just coming in for a quick cup of coffee this shouldn't be an issue for you. Overall I found the space charming, the drinks fine, and the location unique, so will I be back? Yes, when I'm in the area and need a coffee, would I seek it out? Very cute Hawaiian-style coffee shop with good pastries, doughnuts, and bagels. I love the decor as it reminds me of Hawaii and also Disneyland/DisneyWorld's Tiki Room! My one gripe is that they said my bagel came with avocado and they used guacamole, not a real avocado. It seems like a pretty good place to do work out of because there's a lot of outlets and other people working there/on their laptops. I wake the wife and kids up each weekend and ask....where do you want to go for coffee. If I'm picking, I go for somewhere new. Today was my pick, so we came into town. The location had easy parking on a Sunday morning. Cute shop, lots to look at, plants galore. The people working were very nice and accommodating. It does take some time to get your coffee, however it was one person making the coffee in a machine with 2 spouts. Unfortunately the coffee just wasn't all that great. For $6-8 per coffee, I was hoping for something that was notable. Now normally I'm not a fan of overly sweet lattes, and this location wasn't too sweet....so a plus there. That said, the coffee really didn't taste like anything. The wife's orange latte didn't taste like orange, the daughter's macadamia nut latte also didn't taste like anything, and our son's cortado tasted like the beans were burnt. Not it wasn't all negative, the donuts were Mr D's donuts (yummy), and the son's avocado bagel was also great (mashuga's bagels). The food was the highlight here, however it's not Hi Tides food. We probably won't come back here as there KC is a great coffee town with lots of great places to frequent. read more

This is the first coffee shop I came to in KC as it is walking distance to my apartment. For the most part I enjoy this shop. Inside is adorned with Hawaiian themed decor, plants, and various seating spaced throughout. The front of the shop includes some bar and wide individual seating with work tables and side tables...plenty of light and space to find your comfortable spot. I always enjoy wider chairs so I can sit cross legged while I do work so that's a big plus for me coming here. Towards the back is perhaps more quiet with subtle lighting if you prefer a more cozy or private atmosphere. I've tried their rose sea latte and matcha latte with oat milk. I really love a fragrant and floral rose flavor which I honestly didn't get much of...I have to say it wasn't something I'd be too ecstatic to recommend. I might play with the syrup options more for the matcha latte next time, but you can't really go wrong there. I enjoyed it along with the citrus avocado bagel. They really pack on the cream cheese and avocado--no skimping there! I think there was dill on top which I would've loved to have more of but that's just a personal preference. Staff is always very nice and offer recommendations. They answered all my questions about the drinks which I appreciate. One thing I'll note as a downside along with the lack of rose was the cost for milk alternatives and syrups! I get it--different milks and alterations cost more--but I've never seen them more than $1! read more

Cute little cafe with interesting drinks and super smooth ice cream. This is what HITIDES has going for it: Its theme is nailed down, it's much quieter and calmer than other Crossroads cafes, and the menu is solid enough that I would come back. This is not a good place to work or study, or even to eat. Not all seating has tables, and the tables that are there are on the low side. The counter is a bit better, but there are only two seats and the desk space is narrow. As for the food and drinks, none of it will blow your mind--the flavors are fairly one-dimensional, but they're fun and fit the theme well. I tried the macchiato and the swirled orange-coconut ice cream. The macchiato was smooth and strong, not overpowering with any one flavor, and I'd order it again for sure. The orange-coconut ice cream (their most popular) flavors was creamy and well-textured, and it was able to hold its own in a cafe setting. I met a friend for coffee at Hitides after multiple people recommended it to me. I lava the atmosphere ! It's giving Beach Getaway in the heart of the Midwest. I ordered an iced chai, and it was good. I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had, but it hit the spot! The employees were so kind. They greeted us when we walked in with big smiles.
