    Tea, latte and tamale

We went to Nelson Atkins art gallery and decided to try this coffee shop out that is not too far away. The service was good and friendly. My husband had a delicious raspberry black tea and added pomegranate syrup and then ordered the same tea but changed it to passion fruit and he said they were great. I had a brown sugar iced oat milk latte that was good and we first ordered 1 tamale and they were so good we ended up ordering 2 more. It was relaxing and we just talked and read books and listed to their good playlist that was the perfect sound level. We will definitely go back!

I've been going to a lot of different coffee shops, but so far, this one is my absolute favorite. Heads up, this is not quite a secret, so there can be a line. The coffee (iced caramel latte with oat milk) was smooth and delicious. The food...WOW. The first time I came in, I didn't realize they had food so I only got to order coffee. The next time, I ordered the special and it was absolutely amazing. There is an online ordering/order ahead option to not wait in line too. The space is cozy downstairs and great for waiting for food. Upstairs is way bigger than you'd expect and a quieter environment if you need to do a meeting, work, or read.

Stopped in here after being recommended it from a friend. I grabbed a Salted Caramel Iced Latte, it had a great flavor and was a good mix of ingredients to make it a smooth refreshing drink. I ended ordering a Chori Papa burrito. It was a good size with an amazing flavor. I have been to several coffee shops over the last few years and the food and coffee here are some of the best in the KC area. I will definitely stop in here next time I am in the area.

First timer here.. Ordered 20oz Iced Strawberry Matcha with coconut milk.. the drink was very good, just wish I had more of it to enjoy! The strawberry was purée so that made flavor and consistency bold. I wish I'd asked for light ice because again I feel like you don't get the full quantity of what you're served. Most every ingredient is already cold as it has to be so why so much ice I don't know. Plus as the ice melts it changes your drink flavor and consistency if your a slowly sipping. The barista who took my order was very friendly and patient. They also had story on ownership of the coffee shop on display which is nice to know as well. It's a nice local coffee shop with space downstairs and upstairs. Post comment: I've had drink with Matcha at plenty of other places like Cafe Caphe and Chambre and neither of them have this issue, nor do they think it's a customer problem to want less ice and more of a drink in a cup size being ordered. It's should not dilute a drink requiring the ingredients it's suppose to have in it.

The other reviews were not lying this place is amazing great food amazing staff it's could be nice and cozy if you like. I was able to get some work done and they brought my food to me also checked in case I did anything else The only downside is you have to go upstairs for more seating and the stairs are kind of steep so just beware of that if you have any type of difficulties with things like that.

This place is just absolutely phenomenal. You walk in and the staff are just so damn kind, the owners are always talking to my partner and I and they're really bring so much light into the community by being so friendly and providing an affordable quality meal. Anchor Island is a fairly quick bite coffee shop but their food is ridiculously good. I am frequently looking back into their kitchen to see who is making these incredible breakfasts. I generally get the burrito which is amazingly delicious and always tastes so fresh! But this time I went with the chilaquiles which calls to me because the enchilada sauce has such great depth of flavor without being over whelmingly spicy. The chefs are amazing here, and they deserve so much praise. This place is such a favorite of my partners and mine and I will be back asap!

You will not find a more welcoming and inviting coffee spot in KC! Anchor Island employs some of the kindest and most helpful people. Service is always phenomenal. This is a coffee shop for everyone -- LGBTQ-owned and very LGBTQ+ friendly. There is a small amount of seating on the first floor with more seating in an upstairs hang out / event space. Full of tropical decor & sunshine. Their breakfast burritos and chilaquiles are fantastically delicious! Most of the time, you don't expect a coffee cafe to have the most outstanding food, but I am obsessed with their Chori Papa burrito. They also have tasty bagel breakfast sandwiches, but the chorizo is where it's at. Order at the counter and they will either call out your name or bring your food/beverages to you, depending on how busy it is. Plenty of free street parking along Troost. Highly recommend making the trip to this tropical breakfast joint!

Walked in and immediately knew the vibes were great. Plenty of seating throughout the coffee shop. WiFi was speedy, and most importantly the coffee way yummy! They have a full kitchen and plenty of vegan dishes. Coffee was speedy to our hands and piping hot Vegan friendly

Finally checked out this place! Love the vibe and the coconut caffe was delish! A great spot to park and work on your laptop. People were in and out and I cannot wait to come back and try their breakfast burritos! Staff was kind.

Finally got back here after 2yrs. I was so happy to see this place had grown! Their drink and food menu has expanded and they have so much seating upstairs now. It was possible to find a quiet spot for me and my husband who is hearing impaired. The drip coffee had greatly improved...very smooth and balanced. Even my picky husband liked it. The bagel tasted homemade. Friendly service. Cute place. So glad to see it's become a permanent neighborhood establishment.

    Tuna melt - yum.

This cute coffee shop on Troost gives beachy vibes. The staff are friendly, the space is roomy. Coffee, teas, pastries, breakfast and lunch options. Milk alternatives are also offered. This coffee shop is a LGBTQ plus friendly spot. Everyone is welcome. Parking is limited - street or the gravel lot in the back. I had the tuna melt. It was good. My sister had the Monte Cristo. She just wished there was more meat on the Sammy. There's lots of coffee shops and locally owned eateries along Troost. If you're trying to decide which one to choose, this is one to try.

    Another perfect latte!

Nice staff and coffee taste good, but over $5 for an Americano is stiff when I get it for over a dollar less just a mile away.

I remember back in 2011 when I worked at the Nelson we were absolutely starved for a great local coffee house to open up nearby. We had Latte Land on the plaza but parking over there was always nuts and to just pop in and grab a coffee we'd often end up over at KCAI. When Crow's opened while I was away in graduate school I remember my former colleagues gushing about it - saying it had finally happened and a good shop had opened. They weren't wrong. Here we are, probably 10 years (ish) since they first opened their doors and they are still serving the need for fantastic local coffee in this part of KC. On my most recent visit I popped in for a coffee to take with me to a meet at UMKC and I was reminded at how great this spot is. While there are many more great coffee options nearby these days you can't fail to remember Crows and I look forward to my next visit!

Even with the crowd it was not noisy at all and I was able to settle in and get plenty of work done. I ordered an iced oat milk latte with an extra shot of espresso and it was delicious. The coffee flavor really came through and was perfectly prepared. The staff was also very friendly and helpful which made the experience even better. I will definitely be back.

We loved the little set up with a great amount of seating, a clean bathroom, and outlets for people who want to study or get some work done. We were a little hungry and got the empanadas and both tried the Yerba mate. We've never had the traditional yerba mate and were excited we could try it here. Once our order was ready one of the employees was happy to explain to us how to properly drink the yerba mate. She was patient, kind, and professional the whole time. There's definitely a trick to drinking it without getting the tea leaves through the straw. As we enjoyed our snack and drink we could tell the caffeine kicks in a little later. So, if you're up to trying traditional yerba mate, be aware that you'll get a gradual burst of energy a little later. I personally loved the decor and the atmosphere here. They had little knick knacks you could purchase, a small refrigerator with items to take with you as well. I got a couple of key chains for my sister and myself and my boyfriend and I have already noted that we want to come back here the next time we're in Kansas City!
