I don't even know who actually "works" here when I am trying to find someone. There must be a break-room large enough to fit all the staff..because they are obviously not working. 8. The worst one of all.... where is the Walmart greeter?!?! I am not against Walmart at all, I love Walmart where my parents live... this one is just so maddening. I try not to write these reviews when I'm agitated, but I am so done with this place. Last month, after me shopping there a few times a week for over 3 years, they suddenly refuse to take my credit card without ID. I had my school id and my Costco card in my purse, just couldn't locate my license for a $16 purchase. I respect businesses that worry about your card's security. However, the Walmart in question has never bothered to check id (even when I have it out) for purchases of over $100, so this was really annoying. The cashier and a CSA both felt the need to lecture me on procedure that I have never seen anyone there ahere to until that day. I go to my car and find my license in my gym bag and go back in. I stand on another super long line and get to the register. The cashier does not ask for ID. This morning I realize I overspent on my card and needed to return some stuff I've been meaning to take back so that I could pay for parking and my prescription at work today. First a worker at the door warns me not to use the Redbox machine at their store. She says that she used it and someone got her credit card off of it and committed fraud. I assured her that I would only use the machine at PicknSave from now on and enter to do my refund. I get to work and the parking structure says my card has no funds. I look online when I get into my office. The CSA charged me the amount instead of refunding it. I call the store and speak to first a CSA and then a manager. They both explain how I can not cancel the transaction out of their system without me standing in front of them. I explain that I need to get my prescription and take my medicine now, but do not work anywhere near there. They were not polite and were talking to other people while I was on the phone, and were completely unhelpful. I have worked at a different Walmart in the past and know that a manager can undo something like this to help a customer if it was their staff error. I am shocked at how unwilling they were to help and will do my best to no longer shop there. I gave 2 stars, because they do have the best price on frozen meals and usually have had what i have needed in stock. read more

Yep. It's a WalMart. Uh-huh. it's about the same as any WalMart I have been to within a city. Yup. It's somewhat grungy (not just because they are adding on to it). Sure. The prices on the whole are not that great. Certainly. The staff is somewhat friendly but generally not very helpful at all. I did have two different employees go across the store to walk me to the items I was looking for, hence the 2 stars not just one, but that didn't happen more often than not. So I am not a huge walmart fan, but for a girl on a limited budget it does the trick in my time of need. I believe there are three different kinds of walmart in the US. The walmart in the middle class neighborhood, the walmart in the black ghetto and the walmart in the white ghetto. I guess this is the super walmart in the black ghetto. It was rough in there. I mean rough. It is chaotic and packed. Mind you I went to this walmart at 11:00 am on a Friday morning. I can't believe that that many people had a day off from work on a Friday morning. Imagine how packed and crazy it gets on the weekend. I had great customer service while there. They were extremely pleasant and helpful. Every person I talked to for help was chatty and in a relatively good mood. I didn't have any problems getting waited on. Overall, it was an okay experience. I am not too familiar with this area but if there is another super walmart in the area that is a bit less crowded and in a better neighborhood, I would probably choose that one over this location. read more

WORST Walmart in probably the entire state of WI. Have been (avoiding) going there for almost 20 years now but every once in a while I don't have a choice; customer service is non-existent or WAY sub-par; inventory is often low/not the same as some of the nicer stores, or poorly organized; you never know what type of super inappropriate behavior/show/outfits you are about to witness by your fellow customers so don't bring your kids here unless they're used to the worst of language and fully revealing clothing. The 2 stars are relational to other WalMarts. Although, I mostly avoid WalMart, sometimes I need something that I know I can find at WalMart, but I may have to search for another store to buy it. Yesterday, my need was a fan for my apartment. They had a large selection at reasonable prices. Since I am from more rural communities, this WalMart seems filled with the People of WalMart more so than most. It is crowded, folks are generally rude, clerks seem to not know their jobs particularly well, and the store seems dirtier/messier than most. This place seems like it has been hit with the same general affliction that has hit virtually all WMTs I visit these days, severe underinvestment in the infrastructure has the place looking worn and neglected. The staff that I interacted with was friendly, but I suspect the store has cut down on staff to maintain profitability. This translates into disheveled inventory, a lot of out of stocks, and a parking lot overflowing with empty shopping carts. You can get your staples at a great price but do not expect a great shopping experience. read more

Every time I go to this location I am harassed by people wanting to buy my groceries with their food stamps in exchange for cash. The location isn't awful and has been improved from what it used to be, but it will always still be a ghetto Walmart. I recommend going during the day hours since it gets kinda sketchy outside after dark. They usually have what I need but I have run into instances where I have to track down an employee. I have also had instances of employees not knowing where items are located. As with every Walmart, expect to stand in line forever at one of the five open checkout lanes--why waste the money on 24? I only go here when I absolutely have to. read more

Oh dear...I don't even no where to begin. Ok, I come here cuz its within 3 miles from downtown, and they have a lot of food/household goods at sometimes insanely low prices. Pumpkin candles for $3.25 that will last u a month at least and smell so nice. Decent woman's clothing (although yes, impossible to find ur size. It's like a tornado hit the department) 12 packs of ramen noodles for $1.75. 2 liters of Diet cherry lime soda for 68 cents, peanut butter for $1.39. Etc... However... They notoriously hav a gr8 deal one week and then ill never see the product again. Or the prices constantly change. And the parking lot and checkouts are a nightmare. Dont expect anyone to care if uve been standing in line with thawing groceries for 10 or 15 minutes. Some highlights... --Im often hit up for money/change comin out. Feeling charitable I once gave dude a dollar and got a 'is that all u got?' look in exchange. --There were once several birds flying through the rice/pasta aisle, randomly landing on shelves. (No clue what there story was.) Several customers (ok, I was one of em) stopped to go "oh, how cute!" But then I decided against that bag of brown rice... --There's these huge signs with the proper procedure to clean and manage spills of different types of fluids posted all over the checkout area. Yikes. --Once while there, a middle age and upperish middle classish couple was standing in line behind me. The woman loudly : "this is the worst walmart I've ever been to!" Her husband, looking embarrassed whispers somethin to her. The woman, again loudly "I don't care if I am embarrassing u, its the truth!" Ahhh good times. I dunno, after reading a bunch of previous reviews, I feel like I lucked out on my visit over the weekend. I needed 4 things, and 4 things only, and I couldn't get them from anywhere else nearby, so I sucked it up and went to Walmart. And you know what? It wasn't half bad! I was able to navigate the store quickly, and found all 4 items I needed in stock, went to the self checkout and I was literally in and out in less than 10 minutes. Granted, I was pretty impressed that I had done this, but maybe this place isn't so bad after all. I will say, it's a HUGE step up from the un super center that this place used to be. What a terrible place to shop. I had to pick up Halloween candy and no one else was open so I relented. Their staff must be the most UNFRIENDLIEST I have ever come across. I No one smiles at that store.The negative attitude by their employees is overwhelming. The shelves and floors are absolutely strewn with items their staff is too lazy to pick up. I lived next to this Walmart for twelve years. It must be the absolute worst Walmart in the USA. Jason Radcliff was the manager for many years, and I have no idea why. The shelves are not stocked, the store is filthy, and the staff is rude and clueless. The online ordering kiosk is a joke, best be ready to wave someone down as they pass, only to receive a flippant response. I have stood in line for returns for more than half an hour. All the while, carts filled with perishable groceries that should be refrigerated or frozen sit dripping onto the floor. I would not buy any groceries here at risk of serious illness. I literally stood beside a cart filled with packs of raw chicken wings, dripping juice onto a bunch of fruit. This place should be heavily audited by Walmart's corporate office, as well as the health inspector. This is one of the worst run institutions I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. read more

"Straight From Hell" Wow & anyhow!!!! Any day + any hour of that day, one can expect complete and total "combat" at this Capital Dr. location. Literally no hope at all, for a quick in & out purchase of any single item can ever be expected. Most of the staff seem to share the "Pay me, but please do not expect any work at any level work ethic". 1 checkout line per every 25 people every single day. I absolutely love this place! Going to Walmart on capital is like going to the movies, I am always entertained! I go here so often the lady that sets up shop next to the Redbox has even stopped asking me for spare change. I mean my god she is there so much Walmart should just hire her as a greeter. The first stop I always make is to see which crazy employee they have guarding the baby formula. After this I stroll through the store in hopes to catch the legend of employees refilling the meat section with warm meat left on selves from other shoppers. Next I find one of those customers that will give you a contact high just walking past them. Once I find them I lift the back of my cart up and slide it sideways down the aisle so they think they are tripping. Lastly I have to find someone that is clearly paying with a quest card. You know, the one with their cart overfilling. I make it my mission to see how many more items I can put in their cart before they notice. I save the best for last, the checkout. I pick the slowest line to listen to people complain and gossip. read more

If you're going to customer service to return something expect attitude but ask to speak to a manager because they will be helpful and will care about providing customer service. The aisles are disorganized and item prices are labeled incorrectly. Overall, I don't think I would recommend this location unless you have no other choice. read more

Seriously, worst Walmart I've ever been to. All of the other reviewers are spot on. This place is so ghetto that your head is on a bobber as soon as you park your car. There's actually some police tower contraption in the parking lot with blinking blue lights, like a cop car. A closer look reveals that there are multiple cameras on this thing. now i before i get into this i admit that i know this is a wal-mart so my expectations were not high going in... let me walk you through a typical experience. i had to return something to begin with so i stood in a line 8 people deep, with only one person behind the service desk. the only good thing i have to say for the place is that the guy working solo behind there was nice. next, no carts, not one cart inside the store, even went back outside to look for one to no avail. ridiculous, i mean they were semi busy but i cant imagine another walmart not having any carts. the store is just dirty, the bathroom actually feels like the cleanest area in the store, probably because it is the only place they HAVE to clean. they are out of everything, you walk down any given aisle and just see tags, but no items... it is insane... and out of the stuff that they do have none of it is in the right spot.. dont even bother asking or looking for employee to help you, when you do find one they either run the other way or act like you are a huge inconvenience. we needed keys made, and took 20 minutes to find someone who could do it. the whole time he was making them he was glaring at us. it is hard enough to tell who is an employee in this place to begin with also. they are all sagging their pants, yelling, cussing. and i am not some straight edge i just felt uncomfortable... the truth is though. they are cheap as shit so you know ill be back, i just wanted to warn people what to expect ... read more

And just when I thought it couldnt get any worse.... Today's trip to walmart on capitol was horrendous (more so than usual). Before I even got in the store, some people hanging around outside tried selling me (and everyone else) puppies. I told a CSM that I found it to be inappropriate as soon as I entered the store, he then said he would make sure it's taken care of. I walked over to pick up body wash and as I turned around to put it in my cart I dropped it on the floor! My cart was gone and the culprits were 3 teenage workers. I asked the girls for my cart back (politely), 2 laughed and one said in a very sarcastic voice "can't you see were workin' here? Just get another one." WHAT?!? I was in such shock I did exactly that (I should have just left). Older men (working) were making remarks about the bodies of younger female customers to each other, I asked where the taco shells were and got a shrug and my cashier didnt say one word to me (after I said hello and asked how she was doing)...but she had NO problem chatting and swearing up a storm with the customer she knew in front of me. When I returned to the parking lot...can you take a guess what was still being sold??? If you guessed PUPPIES you're a winner (unlike this pathetic excuse for a walmart). I would rather spend more money each time I need to go grocery shopping and go to pick n save in shorewood, than to continuously deal with this crap at walmart. Also, the store is straight tore up from the floor up... there's crap EVERYWHERE. Many items still out of stock, garbage and half drank sodas everywhere.... **There is indeed a very nice older gentleman that works in hardware, he is friendly, helpful and puts the customer first. i haven't been to this Walmart since Christmas time, but we needed several things and I did want to check its grocery department now that I'm reviewing area supermarkets. After all, it is just 2 1/2 miles from where we live. Arriving Saturday at Noon, the large parking lot was already about 2/3 full. We entered the huge box store at the "Market" entrance quickly seeing the long checkout lines. How bad would they be when we were ready to leave? Finding an employee, I asked where the light bulbs were and was told "way over there," easily almost a city block away. Glad for a moment I came, I needed the exercise. Walking towards the east wall from the far west entrance, the store already looked in several aisles like a tornado hit it. Either shelves were messy, empty or items littered the floor, welcome to Walmart, world's largest retailer. Where was management, opened just four hours? Finally arriving in the light bulb department it was a mess. Different packages had been mixed up and you guessed it, the light bulbs I needed were posted, just the shelves were empty. Next we needed small paper bathroom cups. I asked an employee who actually was kind enough to walk us 1/2 a city block to where they were supposed to be. Guess what, the ones we wanted were missing from the empty shelve along with a second kind. Was someone reading my mind? Now we were just steps from the large supermarket area. Walmart is also the nation's largest food seller and you may have heard its "low prices" radio comparison commercials. However as I keep telling you, you have to know what you are buying. Store flyers are almost non-existent to begin with and prices may surprise you.... milk $3.48 a gallon, a dozen eggs $1.99, are you kidding me? NO!!! Walking along the refrigerated packaged foods department, almost a third of the items were missing, gutted. The same was true heading down several of the canned goods aisles. Again, where is the supervision? Then you have to remember if you plan to purchase meat, that Walmart does not have butchers. All what you see was pre-packaged days before, but when? The good news is that some items are indeed discounted from cents to a dollar or more depending what you are buying, compared to other supermarkets. Almost all the brand names are here and paper coupons are accepted for face value. Finally the worst was just ahead....the checkout lanes, where just seven of 12 were open, each with four or more people in line. Yes, I know about the eight self-checkout lanes which I hate, but they too all had lines. Poorly planned, all store purchases go through the same checkout lanes. We lucked out, just 12 minutes with frozen foods in the basket. No wonder Walmart was rated the WORST grocery chain in the United States according to a recent survey of 27,000 respondents by Consumer Reports Magazine. Oh Sam Walton, how standards have fallen since your time. I hope this is not one of your better stores. 888888888888888888888888888888888888 U P D A T E I had to comeback on Wednesday arriving about 2:30 p.m., and the store looked like it had just opened minutes before. My wife and I couldn't believe how well stocked it looked and almost nothing appeared to be out of place. Even the food shelves were restocked! Hiking over to the Auto Parts section I soon discovered why....five men, well dressed and traveling down the aisles together were Walmart executives making an inspection visit. I do not know why so many customers are tshing this Walmart. I have been to the one on S. 27th and another one too. They were grumby too! We all have a grumpy day. I found the people at the Money Store helpful and polite with manners each time I went there and on E.Capitol too. When I was looking for items because I was in a hurry, I stop an associate for help and they happily help me find the item. I have been in the water aisle and whe associates are working in the area, they immediately ask if I need assistance.and put the case of water in my cart. I can truthfully say, awhile back, the associates were not as plesant as they are now. I see theimprovement. I se that they have been iven training in customer service. Their smiles, eagerness to help, and pleasantness at the check out (even when I have over spent and have shop back items) it is not an issue, no moaning or frowning. This crew has definately changed. They provide good service. Visit the competition. You will come to appreciae what we have in our community. We would be very, very unhappy and loose a valuable service if they close down and leave us!! We need them more thanthey need us. read more

My girlfriend and I went to three jewelry counter to get our ring sizes, but nobody was there. Waited maybe 10/15 min then went to find someone to call someone over. Waited another 10/15 min and nobody came. Had to tell the dance person that nobody came. The place is fine to just goo for groceries, but nothing else since customer service sucks. read more

Worst Wal Mart ever!!!! Aside from the store being highly messy and disorganized, the people working there act is if you are bothering them about something when the sad reality is, they are the customer service representatives. They are always out of something that I need when I go there and so many items are often misplaced. When you ask someone for help or to find it, the immediate response (without looking, asking or searching) is that they don't have it. Add to this the lack of professionalism and laziness of staff. When using self checkout, we have been told it is not the person's job who is standing at the main computer for the area to checkout people out; "we can't check you out, you have to do it yourself." Other Wal Mart stores will checkout you out. Also, this Wal mart makes up their own corporate policies for returns, refunds, discounts and coupons so that they do not have to deal with you or your situation. If you try to price match, be prepared-it takes a lot of time and energy to get them to honor it. And when you are in the parking lot, look at how much garbage, glass, mess is out there. Security drives through the aisles but does nothing to to make sure cars keep moving or people stop having arguments/ yelling at each other out there. Talking to anyone in management if often a waste of your time. Nothing ever changes except some new made up policy or lack of rule implementation that the employees do because it meets their needs-not the customer. read more

It's so freakin crowded I could hardly breathe, there was sludge everywhere (not even by the doors) and the whole layout of this place was disturbing (even for a Walmart!). The worst store of any kind I have ever been too. Here are some of the pluses and minuses. Plus: - Located near Shorewood. - Great 3 Month Prescription prices of $10 for many drugs. - Pharmacy staff are all pretty good and nice. - Carry Reynolds Frozen Pasties and Goya Olive Oil. Minus: - Absoultely the worst parking lot in Milwaukee. I can tell the difference between new trash and old. And this is a lot of old trash. Come on and clean it once in awhile. - Not one grocery cart works right. The carts are all over 10 years old. Come on replace them. - Staff is SO... Unfriendly. Most of the time they don't even talk to you when you check out. And forget about getting help. - Always out of stock and the shelves are always a mess. - Never have seen anyone who looks like a manager. - They have something like 25 checkout counters and have maybe 5 open. I have never seen them open up another line when it is busy. - Never had any employee ever ask me if I need help finding something. At Target you get asked at least five times every visit. read more
