They have such a great selection of breakfast food including incredible stuffed hashbrowns, which you can even sub in for regular hashbrowns. Their monkey bread is an absolute must and you have to include the "crunk it" sauce. As for atmosphere the restaurant is relatively large with a few seats at the bar top. read more

Did you know that Blue's Egg serves a fish fry on Fridays during Lent? Until last week I didn't know that either. Their website has a popup on the home page saying it comes with fried haddock, potato pancakes, applesauce, and rye bread, but the popup doesn't list the price and it isn't available through the online ordering function. I ended up calling in an order to go, substituting wheat bread for the rye, and also added a piece of lemon ginger coffee cake. The lemon ginger coffee cake tasted fine, but man was it dry. Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at. read more

Dear Reader, If I am going out for a proper breakfast, I require two things: good brunch and a superb Bloody Mary. This fabulous gem provides both! The Bloody Marys are robust with flavor and the dishes are delicious. Curious about stuffed hash browns? They are well worth the up charge; especially the leek and mushroom version. While many meals come with standard hash browns, upgrading is a choice you won't regret. If toast feels too 2025, I highly suggest upgrading to a pancake or a waffle. They were a little bit light on the garnishes but delicious nonetheless . And the come with a can of Miller Lite for the chaser. I only ordered the stuffed hash browns and special browns of the day were crab and gouda. They came with chili hollandaise, but I substituted regular hollandaise on the side. My husband had the french toast and sausage, and our son (who was kind enough to treat us to this wonderful breakfast) had the hoppel poppel, which is a scrambler of eggs, bacon, sausage, onions, potatoes and spinach covered in a hollandaise sauce, and toast. My coworkers and I love to come here for breakfast after a night shift, and it never disappoints! I love their chicken chorizo "very stuffed browns" so much. I get a few scrambled eggs on side as well, which are delicious. It's always very busy in there, but the servers do a great job about getting things to you quickly! August 2025: I went to lunch at Blue's Egg on a Tuesday afternoon with my mom and her dog. It was about 12:45PM and we were seated right away outside. My mom has a walker and we had a stroller for the dog and the hostess was very accommodating- she offered a larger table for us to sit at so we could fit comfortably. Our waitress was very friendly and fast. My mom and I shared the Bowl of Rejuvenation (sauce on the side) and the Turkey Clubhouse with fries. We loved both of the dishes!! The bowl had fresh and healthy veggies, great textures, and we both felt the sauce wasn't necessary. The sauce had a great tomato flavor but we enjoyed the vegetables and farro as they were. The sandwich was also delicious! The bread was toasted and fresh and the house-roasted turkey was great and went perfect with the sun-dried tomato and cranberry spread. At the end of our meal, we ordered a slice of silk pie to go and enjoyed that as well! Overall, our lunch was a 10/10 and we can't wait to go back! read more

I'm glad we made a stop here. The place has a kind of diner feel, definitely a retro vibe they're going for. There's not a ton of tables, but the wait didn't sound like it was very long. Based upon the folks that came in, it sounds like they take reservations or have a wait list you can join before arriving, so that helps cut down on the wait. They also have a counter at which you can sit. They ask that you include all chicken, including infants, in your table size when putting your name in. You can sip on some coffee while you wait for your table; the coffee will be added to your bill after you're seated. The women at the reception were friendly and very helpful as I placed my order, and they gave my kiddo a couple of kids menus and let me take some stickers and crayons for her to keep her occupied whilst waiting. I'll admit that I was a bit annoyed that I had to come here to place an order, and then wait, because they don't put their full menu on their online ordering system. Much of the menu didn't sound like something I'd want to eat (except for maybe the hoppel poppel, minus spinach) but more importantly, I thought they had to have a kids menu--which also wasn't on their online system--since I didn't want to order a big meal for a toddler. So for this inconvenience, they lose a star. I ordered their special browns, the Wisconsin browns, and it was pretty good. I actually can't even remember what all was in it, but I enjoyed it, but just that problem where it wasn't on their online system, ostensibly because it is a special. My favorite thing from here was the monkey bread, which was yummy. They sell two versions, one with bourbon sauce. Although we got two of them, I didn't try the bourbon sauce and I'm not sure it would improve this pastry for me. We also got a couple of the lemon lavender cookies, and those were really really good. I'm not someone who is usually much a fan of lavender but it wasn't so strong that I couldn't eat it. The flavors melded really well and even the next day, when I ate it, it was moist. I would consider going back here. As I said, the staff were nice. But outside the browns and the monkey bread, it's a fairly standard breakfast menu. The browns that were on the menu didn't tickle my fancy and I don't generally head to a restaurant just to order eggs and bacon; I want an omelet I'm craving, or a kind of hotcakes that looks scrumptious. I'm not sure if they have an instagram that they update with specials, but I'd check there to see if something piqued my interest, or if I was in the neighborhood I'd eat here, but might not go out of the way away to do so. There is a lot of parking in the parking lot and it was easy to find a spot on the Saturday morning I came by. EDIT TO SAY THE BUSINESS COMMENT IS AN ABSOLUTE LIE AS WELL. We were quoted 30-45 minutes and the first time we asked for an update wasn't until we waited 45 minutes. The reservation was also under a different name so not really sure how you allegedly "checked into this". Don't waste your time or money here, they're purposefully untruthful. They will straight up lie to you about the wait time and where you are on the waitlist. We were quoted 30-45min. After 45 minutes we asked for an update and were told we were next in line. FOUR other tables the same size as ours were seated before us. We asked for another update and were told 5-10 more minutes. After 15 minutes we approached the host stand again and they were incredibly rude. I understand an incorrect time estimate but don't tell me we're next on the list and then proceed to seat other same sized tables, that's just being untruthful. The food were really yummy. I got the mushroom omelette. It came with a huge block of crispy hasbrown and your choice of toast. Chose challah toast by their recommendation, smear the butter and berry jam, so toasty so yummy! The omelette was perfectly seasoned, just the right amount of cheesyness, loaded with mushroom, egg so soft. Can't go wrong with this pick. The hubby got fried chicken sandwich. The bun was soft and perfect for this meal. Chicken juicy and crispy. The sauce gives a nice sweetness. Beware, it's a messy eat. Came with a side of fries, yummy. The portions are huge. The price are like california prices. The staffs were really nice and helpful. For kiddos, they gave out crayons and drawing paper with food images to color. So cute and fun. This restaurant has a lot of capacity. Upon entering, it looks like a normal-smaller-ish diner, but there is more sitting area past the hallway. It's huge. I was supposed to meet a friend at Blue's, but last minute had to cancel on me. I was not about to skip breakfast! I'm so glad I stayed. Blue's has that classic diner feel. It was hopping for a Monday morning! The coffee was spot on and exactly what I needed it. I drink it black, so I'm not hiding any flavor. My server, Kellen, was great and quick with the recommendations. I chose one of his faves which is their Browns (hash browns cooked in clarified butter). I added pork to top that off. How could you be disappointed with Blues Egg little bit of a classic diner feel with creative breakfast dishes. We did make a reservation for a Saturday morning since in my experience it can get pretty busy. It was starting to get busy when we arrived, but we were seated right away. Our server, Jose, was fantastic I loved how he grabbed our drink order right away and noted how is was available to discuss options if we were indecisive. My friend and I hadn't seen each other in a little while so we spent some time catching up and were delayed on taking a look at the menu to make our food choice. He moved the the salt shaker to the edge of the table and said move this back when you're ready for me. Saving his time and letting us talk with no interruption, we loved it! The menu has a good selection of options, including some rotating options for daily specials and the rotating Egg Plate of the Month that a portion of sales go to a charity. I got the Guacamole on English and my friend got the Bowl of Rejuvenation. Everything was so delicious and I really liked the hash browns. Brunch Sunday morning? Yes, please! This weekend I tried Blue's Egg with a friend on Sunday. First impressions... the atmosphere was nothing special and dimly lit for a brunchy restaurant but very cozy! I would say the same goes for the food. I thought it was kind of pricey for what we got, but was pretty tasty nonetheless. For example we paid about $10 for a side of chorizo hashbrowns. In the future, maybe I would opt for a French toast or pancake dish. I would like to add that we sat at the counter. The server did a fabulous job of giving us an overview of their menu and also added that anywhere it said toast you could upgrade to French toast. The menu was extensive (but overwhelming). I wish they would have noted this regarding the French toast upgrade on the menu because it was delicious. It's definitely the menu item you HAVE to get if you check out this neighborhood spot. I ordered a carry out order and got the Blue's Hoppel Poppel and an iced coffee. When I got there the hostess was great grabbed my order for me right away. The hoppel poppel is scrambled eggs, cream, zesty sausage, bacon, caramelized onions, shredded potatoes, spinach, hollandaise and a side toast - I chose challah. You get a hefty portion and all the flavors work great together - especially the hollandaise sauce on top. I wish there was a bit of spice to balance out the richness of the sauce next time I order I'll see if I can add jalapeños to it. Getting a table here is pretty difficult on a weekend but it's worth the wait! We put our name down on MLK Jr. Day and got two seats at the bar in about 20 min. We really enjoyed both of our dishes and thought that the portions were a great size! We came hungry and left very full and content. Got there and were told it was up to an hour wait (as a walk in, highly recommended setting a reservation ahead of time!) and we only had to wait about 20 minutes. The food was delicious. I had the special: berry smothered French toast and I absolutely loved the break and flavor of the berry puree. I love their stuffed hash browns, such a cool concept and executed well. I ordered the ham and cheese stuffed. My family did have some mixed reviews, my mom wasn't much of a fan of the hash brown and others said they wished the menu was bigger but I completely understand that it's a small local restaurant, I think they had a lot of nice options that seemed very flavorful! I returned to Blue's Egg the weekend of April 11, 2025. I was underwhelmed and so disappointed. I ordered the corned beef hash. The potatoes were varying sizes and, as a result, many of the potato pieces were VERY undercooked and therefore stiff and difficult to eat. There are cheap choppers you can purchase to cut potatoes to uniform sizes. There were also potato skins, which I dislike on a dish like this. Later in the day I developed incredible gas and stomach upset. I couldn't figure out what was wrong until the next day when I decided to eat the leftovers I had brought home. Surprise! I found pieces of scallion in my hash. While I love the flavor of onion, onion dislikes me and I don't eat it anymore. There was NO mention of onion on the menu when I looked at it online, and I do not recall onion mentioned on the in-house menu. Onion is not usually found in corned beef hash. I was so disappointed. read more

Wonderful brunch spot for a fast and filling meal. You definitely get your money's worth for the amount of food. It gets very crowded on the weekends, so I recommend making reservations ahead of time. They won't seat you until the entire party is present (which is understandable). This year, I chose Blue's Egg to celebrate Valentine's Day. It was the perfect choice! My boyfriend and I enjoyed that as soon as we checked in with our reservation we were seated and enjoying our appetizer: Wisconsin Browns. Within minutes our meal was out and we both had our benedict of choice and shared the Monkey Bread. Our meals paired nicely with their specialty drink: Cupids Mimosa. Blue's Egg has become a regular stop whenever we're in Milwaukee. They're known for their great stuffed hash browns, but really, you can't go wrong with anything here. Again, the stuffed hash browns are great (there are many to choose from, including daily specials) and they can be added to most orders as a side if you're not looking to over-potato yourself. The various omelets and Benedicts that I have tried have also been great. Blue's might seem like a hole in the wall based upon its strip mall facade, but inside there is breakfast greatness. They have expanded the space over the years and also now take reservations, making it easier to plan ahead. Thankfully the wait wasn't too long at all, but they did require that our entire party was there before seating us, which was annoying when 7 of us were already there and the eight was on their way. I was between the monkey bread and the coffee cake and the waitress recommended the monkey bread "crunked," which was a special dipping sauce for an extra dollar. The monkey bread was REALLY REALLY good - I would HIGHLY recommend it! The caramel sauce it was drizzled with was delightful and initially I thought that was the "crunk" sauce that I was supposed to get with it but later realized it wasn't.
