The store contained the usual departments--fruits, vegetables, baked goods, deli meats and cheeses, butcher meats, seafoods, canned and boxed foods, frozen foods, dairy, beverages, pet foods, home goods, cleaning products, etcetera. The store also sold lottery tickets and surprisingly had slot machines. This was probably our first-ever time shopping at a Sprankle's, so I paid attention to the prices and compared them to other grocery stores' prices. We thought that the blackberries, boxes of canned sodas, and individual cans of wet cat foods were priced too high. Some products had stickers that said "Reduced for Quick Sale" but did not mention the new price. I also paid attention to the quality of the foods. I noticed grapes that were moldy. Nonetheless, we did find many foods to buy: apples, bananas, green beans, potatoes, mushrooms, onion, turkey, potato chips, popcorn, drink mix, etcetera. The cashier asked us if we were members of the rewards program and if we wanted to join, and we said no to both. (We do not live nearby.) She did a very good job of scanning our foods, charging our credit card, and thanking us. Sprankle's also offers a Rewards program, home delivery, catering, and group fundraising, but I have never used them.

You'll love every time that you put in your cart and you'll honestly pay less than the big grocery store in Pittsburgh! They recreate some of your branded favorites with natural ingredients. They will hit you with pumpkin spice in 30 different items in the fall. We literally go to Trader Joes when we need our Brown Sugar Oatmilk creamer... and if you haven't tried this and aren't my competition in Pittsburgh... do it! It's changed our coffee.. and tea... forever! The workers are always more than willing to assist.. or even run into the store after noticing a defect in an item. The place is setup like a perfect traffic pattern and makes you want to come back back back!

We ended up buying some frozen items so I picked up one of their freezer bags. We bought their Orange Chicken, some Ravioli, etc. Their freezer bag is great as we stopped by a pub and had lunch. He caught the mistake at home and on another day, during a visit, I took him back to the store with the cash register slip to get a refund. I took a picture of the cauliflower with my phone. The 'manager' refused to give the refund unless my brother returned with the item. For a normal person this wouldn't be a big problem, but my brother doesn't drive any longer and is handicapped with ms. There really was no willingness to accommodate the customer on this fairly small transaction. Shame on them.

I'm not sure how or why we ended up here, but my Dad was all about wanting to stop here to look for food item he may want/need. We all have to remember that just because this is a Community Super Market it still falls under the Giant Eagle umbrella. That's right, GE with a bit of a different vibe and none of the frills. A lot of what you see pricing wise here is the same as you would find in their other stores. This is still one of the few that falls under this name that they still have. You can tell that this location has been open for a while and it wears it's scars like a badge. There is probably some dire need to update the inside of the store to give it a cleaner look, that is for sure. Mostly they were stocked with items that you would expect to find and a few hidden gems here or there. Like I said before, we didn't really come here for anything in particular, but we did end up finding some things to take home with us. Once we were done and on our way we were happy to be out.
