Mostly tidy and stocked this evening with more stocking going on, I thought this Walmart was okay. They've converted most of the staffed checkout lanes to self-checkout which works fine for Walmart and for me with just a few bits. Folks with full carts won't like that much. Menswear was good and I actually had a choice for the one thing I needed. Three different packages and manufacturers for a change. Nice! Store is very clean . Came in for vitamins but they were not in stock so I'll prob order online shipped. We were looking for deal days signs but they must have taken them down. We scanned prices in app and they were still on sale. Most people won't think to do that or to bother to so signage would promote the products on sale. read more

Used to work for Walmart, injured my shoulder pretty bad ON THE JOB to the point I had to go to the hospital. I had an X-ray and an MRI. Found out I damaged my shoulder muscle and ligaments, and was told by the doctor and even given a doctor's note about my limitations and the fact that I had to be in a sling for 2 weeks. But when I presented them the notes, they said, since I didn't go to THEIR doctor, these medical papers were null and void. There were security cameras in the area, so they had proof I wasn't lying. Kept trying to find ways to blame me so that they didn't have to pay out medical. I kept fighting back, and I told them I have to be in the sling cause of the damage as directed by the doctor. They kept telling me that my medical diagnosis and notes didn't count since it wasn't from one of their doctor's. I then proceeded to tell them that if they have a problem with me being in a sling for 2 weeks, then maybe they need to approve my damn medical leave, otherwise I'm going to keep wearing the sling as the doctor said, and they're just going to have to deal with it. They kept trying to gaslight me and badgering me to stop wearing the sling and to just use my arm. I eventually tried getting lawyers involved. Not long after that, I got called into the office for questioning, and after I answered their questions for about an hour, they blamed me for my injury. They said that since I didn't stretch before my shift, I was at fault for my injury. And then a week and a half later, they terminated me. I somehow magically racked up enough points to be fired, despite always having enough PPTO to cover the days I was out. So if you're thinking of working here or anything like that, or if you think they give a rat's ass about you, think again. I will never work for Walmart ever again. Working at store 1300 is the worst job I've ever had. Would never recommend it to anyone. They do whatever they can to protect their own ass. Also, the lawyers in the area are all in cahoots with Walmart. As soon as I brought up what happened and my place of employment, they all of a sudden couldn't help me. Take this as a warning. I placed an on-line grocery order at 1:00pm. It is now 10:00pm and my order is three, yes, three hours late. I call. They said the best way to do it is to cancel and reorder because tomorrow's orders will have priority over the order I placed today. How ridiculous is that! I have no way of cancelling since they always put a hold on the funds in a person's bank account. You can believe that this is the LAST ORDER I will ever place from this store. Just saying its a Walmart, is not saying much that is good. This Walmart is the worst Walmart in the area , and it appears to be going downhill. I won't go after sunset. It's simply not safe. There are many young people who meet and loiter in the parking lot. I hear second hand reports of muggings. A few months ago a man urinated on the car in front of the parking space I had just pulled into. This was in broad daylight. If you are looking for a Walmart to park your Rv in overnight, find another. The service is mostly dreadful, with the odd pleasant exception. Today I went in for a few items, a busy Saturday. One of the items would not scan and the checkout girl told me she would have to go look at the shelf and asked if I really needed it. I was so shocked I didn't notice that she didn't give me all my bags. I was transferred four times when I called, until finally transferred back to the same girl, who just said there were no extra bags around. I'm sure not. I'm certain someone else has my items! This is not an exception on a busy day. During slower times I have on occasion had excellent service, but it's not the norm. The store isn't too clean. The carts are rusty. Many of the isles are small. Several have posts on them. Many times the items I need are out, just an empty spot on the shelf. If you really need Walmart, go to the smaller one in town. My mother's flowers were to be delivered on Friday to avoid the rush of Mother's Day. They did not get delivered on Friday. I called customer service on Saturday who connected me to the store. I was told by Jenn she could not find the order and had to look in another computer and would call me back. Two hours later no call back so I called the store. No Jenn to be found. I explained the issue and was told he will find her and have her call me. Another hour I call back. NO JENN. We will tell her and have her call you back. 2 hours later I call customer service again and after 10 minutes I was disconnected. I called back and was told the driver picked up the flowers but never delivered them but instead canceled the order. My question was how can a driver cancel an order that I placed and paid for? Second question was you knew you had a problem with your employee on Friday so why didn't Walmart make it right by the customer on Saturday? My mother lives about 6 minutes away from the store. A good manager would have made or have someone else make the delivery and deal with Walmart's internal issue at a later time. Especially since I had called so many times. The store said have my mother come pick up flowers. First my mother is not mobile. Second even if she were Walmart wants me to have her come to the store and pick up her own flowers. Thank God I live in New Jersey because if I lived in North Carolina this would have ended up on the news. The answer that Walmart gave me was oh sorry nothing we can do but give you a refund. First why would I pay for something that was NEVER DELIVERED??!!??!! That is a no brainer. That does not make the situation better or go away. Secondly I was told the item price would be refunded, what about the $7 tip for the driver that NEVER DELIVERED MY ORDER. last but certainly not least, how do I not look like a giant asshole to my mother and siblings because my mother received NOTHING from me for Mother's Day? I have chatted with Mary who kept repeating that Walmart will not charge me for the order. NO KIDDING YOU ARE NOT GOING TO CHARGE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! the order was not delivered. I come to this walmart all the time, I had just gotten off of work, was waiting for my ride to pick me up and my feet were killing me. So, I sat on one of the scooters waiting, not using it, just sitting. None of them were in use, so I wasn't taking a scooter from someone in need, if I was, I would've gotten up immediately and given it up. The old man who stands by the door came up to me and asked me rudely if there was anything wrong with me or my legs and I told him nothing, that I was just sitting there so I wasn't outside alone, and he proceeded to tell me how rude and ungrateful I was and then kicked me out when it was 30 outside and was slightly raining. Defiantly the worse experience I've had at Walmart and its not the first time I've or other people have had a problem with this man. He's light skinned, older, wears glasses. Walmart supermarket located on Martin Luther King Street when it employs people it does not place them in a position assigned to help and collaborate with customers. On the contrary, it puts people in areas (electronic department) that cannot assist the client. Yesterday at 8:55 am I went to buy a TV and my experience was horrible. When I bought the TV, the person who attended me I think he should have stayed home that day. After buying the TV I had to go back to the store since the remote control was missing from the device and it was not included. The person hinted that we wanted another free remote control. I told her that we had the TV in the car so if she wanted, we could bring it to her and try it out and make sure the TV and the new remote worked. Conclusion the remote control that he provided us never worked on the TV. From 8:53am to 1:00pm we were dealing with an inefficient, rude and despicable person. Walmart should make a better choice in your employees and put them in the departments where they can serve the customers who, in the end, are the ones who pay. My claim will go ahead with the district manager or someone higher up, you can bet on that. The customer's time and money are valuable. read more

I have been boycotting the Walmart supercenter in New Bern for a long time because of the rude, lazy, unhelpful employees. Today I thought I would make one last attempt at getting what I needed since we're getting down to the wire on Christmas. I had been up for 24 hours and working for about 14 hours, when I asked an employee ( who was standing in the isle talking to another employee) aka; goofing off) if she could find someone to help me out in the perfume department. She stated this was not her department. I asked her if she could kindly get someone to page someone who did work in that department so I could get some assistance. She informed me she didn't have paging capabilities. I asked her if she could please go to customer service and have them page someone for assistance. Her response was that " I could walk down there myself. " Why yes of course I could have done that but had just explained to her that I had been up for 24 hours and working for 14 hours and was exhausted. ( she was about 20 and I am 60 years old). She stated she had work to do as well, even though she had apparently not had any urgent work two minutes prior to my intruding on her pressing time schedule. I asked her name (Amera) and then I did make the trip to customer service to speak to the store manager. I made it known that I would never make another trip into that store and that if I couldn't get it at Aldi's or Harris Teeter or online at Amazon I didn't need it bad enough. Unfortunately, this spoiled, entitled, uneducated societal parasite is a fair representation of most of the young people in customer service related jobs today. Raised without any respect or manners towards their elders or with any sense of self respect for a job well done. They get these jobs that require customer service skills and they have none, nor are they trained in how to interact with customers. What concerns me is that Walmart doesn't care whether they give good customer service or not because they know that many people cannot afford to pay higher prices in this economy. (Many of who work for them) I beg you, the next time you need a few groceries to give all these a try. You will save enough money there on pantry staples that you can afford to pay a little bit more for some items that you need to get at Harris Teeter. It works for our large family. read more

I'm very disappointed. An item was labeled improperly. I had purchased before so I thought it was on sale. Tragically, my bill ran up to $100. I started looking, asked and was told that they would refund 'one' of the purchases. 'They' didn't know 'who' had moved the boxes. It seemed a little insulting. Did they think I had moved them? So I contacted customer service. 'We forwarded back to management at the store that will call you.' The documented that they tried to call me twice but no message. I received a message from my sister today so apparently my box isn't full. So customer service sent the info back to the people that disappointed me. Now customer service will do so again. She says that there is nobody above her unless escalated. Well? Escalate it. She hesitated. I asked when is she able to escalate. Again hesitation, hold. I'll have someone call you. I reminded her that they should leave a message because if working I cannot just answer the phone. I'm past mad, I'm disappointed. A bunch of businesses are going out of business yet they remain in business giving st least me poor customer service. It was too late to return everything and shop again due to closing. Will I receive a call? In my opinion customer service was a bit rude. Perhaps this is a characteristic of the larger chains. However, I've always been impressed with starbucks customer service. Let's face it. Customers pay all the salaries. I will now only go back if it's more convenient to me unless they help resolve. I'm not counting on anything. I do get to choose where to spend my $. Do not believe the nonsense in the other reviews. I am a retired person and have nothing to gain by my comments This store has recently (within the last 6 months) been totally renovated. Brighter lights, wider isles, parking light, parking lot plants are renewed. Who do they think is going to mug them. I am white male and many of the clients as well as employees are black Americans. All are civil and courteous. Of course you experience the benefits of buying in Walmart. The breadth of products, the quality and the cleanliness of the store. I often times am annoyed that when I have to PEE I must wait for the cleaning person to allow me in to the bathroom. Of course they have two well placed facilities so It is always possible to be accommodated. My wife ad I plus the dog and the cat and the two cars spend approximately $4,200.00 a year. I have the logged records to prove it. The reason I don't give it a 5 STAR is because they are not up to the PUBLIX OR HARRIS TEETER standards of selection. I wish I could give NO STARS but it won't let me. I swear this is the worst Walmart in the world. Every single time I go in there there's an issue. I'm only discussing 2 but sadly there is literally over 5 more just as stupid scenario's that I'm not talking about just to save space and time. Because it happens so frequently I finally had to post something about them, they are so over the top rude and unprofessional I had to release somewhere. I've bought gift cards for my staff for years there and suddenly they won't sell them to me???? Why would you give up literally thousands per year and push your customers away??? First they said I had to get them at customer service, never had to before so a sign at the gift cards would be nice. So why did the elderly lady at the customer service desk not even know how to make gift cards? (Sounds fishy to me). Supposed manager came over that was so rude we ended up leaving w/out even getting them. When we went back they said we had to go online to get them if we wanted more than one or two??? It literally makes no sense but I've tried a few times and they get downright rude, so my money will go to Target from now on for all gift cards. Then I tried to return some lights that NONE of the remotes worked on, why would I want more when 3 didn't work? I wouldn't of course but they tell me since it comes to more than $50 I can only exchange, they can't give me a gift card. I say fine then just take 2 back and I don't mind taking a gift card. No, can't only take 2 when you just tried to return 3. What the hell are they talking about?? Fine, I leave and just figure I'll come back or send someone back with 2 and take a gift card. About a month later my secretary goes back w/ 2 and they tell her she can only exchange since there's no receipt. I called Havelock Walmart and ask what the return policy is w/ no receipt. They said EXACTLY what I knew to be true, as long as it comes to under $50 they can either exchange OR GET A GIFT CARD! I've been on hold waiting to speak w/ a manager at the New Bern Walmart for over 15 minutes already, wrote this review while I waited, guess I'll have to find something else to do while I wait as clearly this too will take far longer and be way more stressful than it should ever be.
