Over the years my distaste for this Walmart has grown. It's never been very customer friendly, and that has only continued to get worse with each year. Covid put me over the top though. Walmart makes everyone jump through all these hoops. They shut down all but one door, because making everyone funnel through one space during a time of social distancing makes total sense right? We are required to wear a mask, which also makes no sense, because everything else cancels it out. It is the ONLY store that I have been in during covid that NEVER has anything to clean the grocery cart. This is something I've always done before shopping, because ... gross. I've asked the last 3 times why they don't having anything and the answer is "we are out". There are stores who have spray bottles and paper towel to wipe down carts, but this giant corporation can't figure out how to sanitize a cart???? I could care less about what door people go in, or even if they are wearing a mask, but I want a clean cart. I'm over this store. read more

Today I went to Purchase a prepaid Verizon phone. Plenty of displays and boxes.... but when I brought everything up to the counter and wanted to check out I was told that the phone wasn't even in stock! A waste of gas and time, not to mention an unhappy wife to answer to. Thanks for nothing Walmart. read more

RATE: 0 STARS!!! At least 10 lanes closed and I waited in line for over 30 minutes. Making me late for my lunch break, almost costing my job. I went through one clerk with a few items, and needed to have money put on my WalMart cash card. I asked for her to put $270 on my card and she only put $170 onto my card. She handed me back $100 (and lied) and told me that I cant put more than $200 on the card at a time. So I went to a different line after puting the $170 on the card, I only needed $100 more, and the "Customer Service line had 6 people in line returning items. I decided to go into a shorter line and deal with another clerk, that only had 2 other people in line. One with what seemed NO items, and another that had about 15 items. It took this clerk at least 10 minutes to figure out that she needed to call her manager over, she was dealing with a man who had a clipboard and some kind of device with him. The manager came over and proceeded to improperly help this gentleman. I finally moved to another line after several minutes of confusion, now that almost 20 minutes has been taken from me. I finally made it out of there with a grand total of 38 minutes, 33 minutes of that was spent standing in line... As at LEAST 10 other lanes were CLOSED. Every one who works there isn't even worth complaining to either, it's a pathetically untrained staff. read more

I went today to pick up some yarn for a blanket I am making. I had run out of a certain color. Unfortunately the color I needed was sold out. I ask the woman working that section when she thought she would be getting more in. She did not even look at me and said, " we get it when we get it" I can't remember the last time I was treated so rudely. Rediculous. read more

Seriously the worst business I've ever encountered. Called the vision center for a simple request: I needed replacement glasses and simply wanted to look up my rx (filled within the last 2 years, under my name, easy as 123 to get from the Lacey store when I called themselves within ten minutes of this wretched experience) and the representative (Destiny) sounded irritated the second I asked how her day was going after introducing myself. She had me call Lacey to get the info needed and have it faxed to her. Really? Fine, whatever. How about a general price quote for what single vision lenses generally run for? Oh, I can find out when I come into the store? Back and forth this Q & A went on for a while before I just gave up on the whole idea and started shopping online. Taking my business elsewhere is pretty much the only way I see this experience going in my favor. On the phone or face to face, this place is just bad all around. This kind of obvious disinterest in offering me any extension of common courtesy just sealed the deal for me - I'm never shopping at the Shelton Wal-Mart again. Awful. read more

These people do not care about customers! The store remodel is ludicrous! Even the employees do not know where anything is. Bath towels are not near shower curtains, luggage in the garden center. ..and the baffled look on an employees face when you ask them the location of an item! ! Today I asked the cashier if they had a venue for sharing customer comments and she said, "I wish. ..people complain every day. ..but they don't want to hear it". Despite being a long term resident and enjoying the price cut. ..I will now be shopping across the street at Fred Meyer and will go to Olympia or shop on line for non grocery items. read more

I ordered a kayak to be picked up at the store and it was supposed to be here last Thursday. I can't tell you how many times and how long I've been on hold but no one can tell me where it is or when it will get there. I've called Walmart.com, the shipping company, the local store and no one can help me. They keep telling me to call somewhere else. I don't quite understand a customer service dept that can't provide customer service. The lower prices aren't worth the hassle. I'll be shopping on Amazon in the future. read more

I have been shopping at this Walmart for about two months and decided to return back to shopping at their sister location in Port Orchard, WA. Firstly, it is very difficult to find parking during peak hours since there is also a skate park right next to the store. With Olympia supermarkets not utilizing plastic bags due to the state law for Thurston county, most Olympia residents are driving to Shelton Walmart as expressed to me by a store employee at cashiers. The parking lots idea of traffic organization is horrendous since there is no secure rhyme or reason to how cars are directed out. For the second time in my two month attempts, as I was leaving the store, I almost got hit by another car due to the confusion found in one of the parking lots intersection. While in the store, I tend to smile at workers to see how will they respond and all I received back was angry looks. Yesterday, while turning a corner I almost didnt see an employee, I never hit them with my cart but slowed down, and apologized. The older worker just looked at me and went back to playing with her phone. My favorite part is when I am walking through the aisle, as I did yesterday, and while looking at homes supplies found two employees talking about customers. This is just a no-no, you do not talk about customers its poor customer services. The men's clothing section is always disorganized. You cannot find a proper shirt because name brand, and sizes are mismatched within the clothing. An article of clothing may be hanging on one rack but looking for alternate sizes may be a clothing hunt. I say this because nothing is where its suppose to be. These issues I could handle, if it were not for the negative attitude displayed by employees. I hope that this will change. It is a great location but does not do well with customer service, store organization and parking spaces. . read more

Given the prices, I thought I'd buy tires online from Walmart and have them installed at the store. Bad decision: The order was not handled properly by Walmart.com to start with (over a week in delay from the original estimated delivery time, and they managed to screw up the payment), but getting through to the Shelton store to set up an appointment to install was nearly impossible. The auto center is open at 7 AM, but apparently no one is available to answer phone calls until 10 AM, and there's a good chance that calling the main store number will simply get one put on indefinite hold. Like many, I work during the day so showing up and standing at the counter was not an option. After six attempts (and an average of 10 min on hold each time), I finally got a human. Either the phone system is barely functional, or the store is so understaffed no one can answer an incoming call. Whatever the case, lesson learned: I'll never buy tires at Walmart again. read more

I went in to Walmart to buy chapstick and masks for sanding. I went to self checkout and the machine didn't spit out a receipt, I figured it would be okay because it was so few items. After starting to leave, the cashier stopped me and went on for around 5 minutes asking for my receipt and implying that I stole the items, which I didn't do. After it was all over, she didn't apologize and acted like I wasted her time. Anger! read more

Today a clerk stopped my disabled girlfriend on the way out of the store because she did not apparently enter the code from a 15 lb bag of dog food correctly and wasn't charged. This was at self check out. She also noticed that a .99 bottle of hand soap was underneath the dog food. Had I been with her i could have helped lift the dog food and scan it. The total of the bill was well over $110 (paid), yet she was treated like a criminal, over an honest mistake. Even the laundry soap she had purchased and not bagged was questioned. When she found it on the register slip, no apology was offered. We have options here, we can go to Fred Meyer and buy dog food, or better yet buy it online so it is delivered and dropped off by friendly and courteous UPS drivers. Then what will these people who have no educations and no aspirations higher than a "courtesy" clerk at Walmart do when they are laid off? I know that one customer does not mean much in the scheme of things, and this is a very busy store so they have no reason to insist on better performance from their employees. We have complained before about the dangerous situation with the vagrants living in the parking lot posing as RV travelers. But we see the same people who dump trash and let their vicious dogs run and defecate in the parking lot all the time. Why not pick on people who are actually committing crimes, not customers who are your bread and butter. read more

THIS IS THE WORST STORE EVER and because of my experience here, I will never shop at Walmart in my life. The staff is rude (particularly management) and they're completely unknowledgeable and lazy. The lines are extremely long and no one cares to alleviate this problem, which is extremely irritating when you see about 20 people in a line and there are only 2 or 3 lines open. Also, there have been 2 occasions where I have called to see if they had a specific item I was looking for and one time, the employee said, "No, we don't have that," but since I was nearby, I decided to stop in and look for myself and guess what? I found the item I was calling about that they said they didn't have. This happened twice. So frustrating, these people are so lazy. Then, I was provided my information so they can contact me when they received a item that I was waiting for and they never called. I happen to stop by the store and I saw the item I was waiting for, but there was only one left and I was pissed. At this point, it is totally worth it for me to drive the extra distance to Target because they have better service and better quality products, for pretty much the same price. read more
