Not good for senior citizens due to minimum handicap parking, crowded aisles and the tech marketing "digital deal". I have never been denied the "digital deal" at any other Kroger/Fred Meyer/QFC store without the cell phone app and have never before had multiple employees dispute the clearly marked signage. The staff here is courteous and friendly. The quality of their products is great. However the selection stinks. It seems that they continually discontinue products that I relied on them to carry. I am so done! Today they did not have salad macaroni. why would A real grocery store not have salad macaroni. So ridiculous. Most of the time you can't buy cube steaks either again ridiculous. We went shopping here on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Not at all crowded as I'm used to and we moved through the store with ease. At the last minute the YS told me to go back and get an item we forgot. As they rang up the last item and we were out the door he said they gave me a discount. I said yeah because we spent over $150. This is the best place to go for groceries in Shelton, and really the last-chance for a full size grocery store if you're continuing up Highway 101 (there is a new, and smaller, IGA in Hoodsport now though). This Fred Meyer Marketplace isn't the full size one-stop shopping type, but its got all the food selection you could want including a deli, bakery, meat counter, and natural/organic foods section. Best place to shop for groceries in Shelton. Wal*Mart is a terrible atmosphere and Safeway can't match Fred Meyer's selection (although Safeway is a close second). The store is always clean, prices are fair, and staff are friendly. I'm not exactly in love with any chain supermarket, but as far as they go this one is the best I've experienced. I've also found their meats and produce to be quite better than most other supermarkets, so that's a plus. read more

This is the best kept secret in the region. But at least 10 of my friends know about this beside me. The meat department has to be the best counter in Washington State. We don't know if it's the in-house butchers or the purveyors they buy from, but this particular Fred Meyer has some of the most amazing quality beef around. Clean store, good selection. The prices are good. Fred Meyer has better specials than the competitor across the street. Better produce and meat selections too. Fred Meyer has buffalo! Less crowded than nearby stores. It's only a Marketplace, so they don't have the full selection most Freddy's do. Limited DVD collection and a handful of CDs. They do have a pharmacy, and a decent selection of over the counter medicines and toiletries. They have some cleaning supplies and some kitchenware, but no clothes, electronics, shoes, etc. read more

So today was the grand re-opening. The advertisement I received said that the event would start at 7am. at that time the first 200 would get a gift card. There were other deals for the first 300 and 1000. I got to the store at 7.10 to find that not only were all the gift cards gone but they had started giving them out well before 7. Another customer told me she got to the store at 6.45 and got one of the last gift cards. Very frustrating. read more

Love grocery shopping there. The grocery store is great! On the other hand. HORRIBLE Pharmacy. Waiting 30 minutes for prescription, okay understandable. Coming back and waiting at the window for 25 minutes without a "I'll be with you in a minute" not understandable, then the lady finally coming to the window and saying I'll be with you shortly and not returning for another 15 minutes. OK.....It is VERY rare where I will give a corporate giant a five star rating. Even just a single store. But this one deserves it. The lines are not long. The employees are very friendly (with very little turnover). The prices are reasonable. The store is clean both inside and out. From the outside looking in, it looks very well run. I do all my shopping there. I could save a little money by going across the street, but that would be offset by the water bill sent to me 30 days later (I always feel like I should take a shower after a Walmart experience). I have never had a problem with a return at this location. I have never felt like I have been mistreated. I have watched people thrash on the employees (as rude customers feel compelled to do) and they take it in stride. That is not to say I condone misbehavior, but in the retail world, it is a reality the cashiers have to deal with. And it is a testiment to their patience. Oh....and during the snow storm recently....their parking lot was relatively clear. They made sure people could get in and out safely. I know, probably for legal reasons, but I do not care. This is the best place in Shelton to shop for groceries! The produce section is excellent. The employees are helpful and friendly. This store is always neat and clean with plenty to offer. They have more reasonable prices on booze than many stores, even with the sky high state tax. I wish it was one of the mega Freddies but this one is a marketplace only. Go to Fred Meyer when shopping for more than a few items and want the best pricing. Can goods, vegetables, and staple items always seemed to be priced lower than most places. Seldom find anyone in the isles assisting customers which is OK since we know where most items are. Once in a while we buy red meats or fish which are OK. Overall customer services is OK but checking out can be hit or miss when choosing the fastest checkers. Just be careful when entering or leaving the store, the parking lot can be a challenge when dodging cars. FYI this is not a full-service Fred Meyers. read more

I have been shopping this Fred Meyer for almost 5 years. It is a very well run store. I shop there at least every 2 weeks. I also get my gas at the gas pumps there. I am a sale shopper so I shop the Walmart & Safeway in Shelton, WA. They are also good stores that I like. But Fred Meyer is my favorite. Even though this isn't a full sized (clothing) store it's by far the best place in town. Professional, shorter lines than Walmart and Safeway, NOT part of the Gma (grocery manufactures association) so when I buy my organic products I know none of my money is going to the gma, good organic selection as well (produce, milk eggs, could have a little more organic cheeses). read more

I hear rummers that Fred Meyers is thinking of building a BIGGER store in Shelton, WA. I would be in my glory if that happened. I love the Fred Meyers that we have now but they don't have all the bells and whistels that there bigger stores have. When in Yuma I shopped the most fabuous store (Frys) which is a Kreuger/Fred Meyers store. I could have lived there. They had EVERYTHING and I mean everything. How lucky it would be for the residents in WA to have this same kind of store. I travel 36 miles to and from Fred Meyers in Lacy, WA to get Magic Pops rice product. My husband and I recently moved to Shelton and have shopped a few times at this Fred Meyer grocery store. The quality overall of the products were good, although I've found that you have to be very careful about their produce. I've had to search and search sometimes to find a head of lettace that wasn't starting to go bad. The main reason I'm writing this review (this is my first) is in regards to the lack of customer service skills the employees of this store have. I don't want to sound harsh, and having worked in a retail setting for several years I know that it can be very difficult at times and that customers can be downright rude. However I don't believe that gives a person a right to be mean to other customers or other people in general. Today my husband and I had gone into the store after church to pick up some seasoning for some red potatoes that I wanted to bake. I was looking for a particular kind that came in a small packet and I was having trouble finding it. So my husband went a couple of rows down until he found a young woman to come help us. She took us to an aisle that we'd just been down and said, "no I don't see it. But this is where the other potato things are and this is where the other packets are." My husband said, "that's weird, I thought we bought it here before but maybe it was the other store. Do you know what kind of packet I mean? It looks like these others but it's specifically for red potatos?" And instead of just answering him with a polite, no I'm sorry, she simply said,"No I don't. I only eat healthy food." And then we thanked her and she left. First of all, how would she know if baking red potatos is healthy food or not? She has no idea of how we were preparing them. It wasn't like it was for french fries or something that would be covered in grease. It is actually something we rarely eat, but once in a while we like to bake red potatos and put seasoning on them...who really cares? Second, let's pretend that it was something unhealthy, say a giant tub of ice cream or a pizza? What right does she have to judge us? Who cares who is buying unhealthy food or not? It is not the Fred Meyer employee's job to criticize people for what they buy. We are not on welfare, we pay for all of our food with money we earned. I don't think she would like it if I made snide comments about what type of food she was eating. I have a feeling this woman wouldn't know what healthy mean if it was staring her in the face. And third, is she implying that my husband and I eat unhealthy food? Because we eat red potatos with seasoning and she doesn't know anything about red potato seasoning? I was highly insulted by this comment. I'm glad that she only eats healthy food. I try to do the same. But the question wasn't "what type of food do you eat?" It was "do you know this product we are refering to ?" All she had to do was say, "no I don't know about that kind of seasoning." We made a complaint before we left the store with the manager, but I don't believe anything will be done about this. So, I would say if you just need to stop by quickly at this Fred Meyer it is an okay place to purchase food. But if you want to make this a regular store to shop at, I wouldn't recommend it. You will eventually be treated the same way. For me, I'd rather wait in line at the WalMart grocery store for 20 minutes with screaming baby and a meth-head behind me than ever shop at Fred Meyer's again. read more

Parking is a mess. All summer long they have plants in a area where handicapped people can park close to store. The bakery never has sales. Always the same old products over and over. Nothing ever new to eat. Doughnuts are half the size of other stores, please. Put something interesting in the bakery. I have mention this to manager. If I could give this zero stars, I would. This grocery store is dirty compared to other Fred Meyer's. I just brought some cooked shrimp home from the seafood department, opened the lid and it smelled like a public toilet. The self serve check out stations are filthy, and I would not touch the surfaces there, let alone put my food on them. The deli is stingy, especially if you are buying one of their meal deals that they used to offer. I wanted the chicken meal, with a somewhat healthy side, they used to offer me one of the cold sides, but depending on the clerk, they will only give you the greasy "jo's jo's" or mac and cheese. I know that the other Fred Meyer will at least allow you to have cole slaw, which is semi healthy. If you take a look at the tables and chairs in the deli section, they are always dirty. The beverage station is equally filthy. This only leaves Safeway, with the gamey bus crowd and scary looking security guards, and Walmart with its purse snatchers in the parking lot. read more

I'm so tired of waiting in line at Fred Meyers pharmacy to get a pharmacist that is hard to understand through their accent and there seems to be new employees every time and they mixed up my prescription and then argued about my insurance and wanted me to pay when the insurance was supposed to cover it. I am going to go back to Niel's Pharmacy, their staff are so nice and helpful. Niel's fill my prescriptions accurately, and worked hard to help me get the insurance billing worked out, they have a customer for life. read more

Safeway, Wal Mart and Fred Meyer are your options in Shelton. Fred Meyer is hands down the best. FM has great prices and great customer service. Its almost eerie how happy their employees seem sometimes. Only downside is it does not have full Fred Meyer like Tumwater. It does have Deli & Pharmacy however. If I cannot find it at Shelton FM, then I will totally commute to Tumwater FM rather than visit my local Walmart... read more
