We, the Spark drivers at the Sykesville Walmart, would like to report an ongoing issue with the new Pickup & Delivery manager. Since she started working at this store, many drivers have experienced the same problem. If an order is not ready, she calls drivers and asks for the pickup code before the order is prepared. After giving the code, we often have to wait 30-40 minutes, but we are not properly compensated for that time. If a driver refuses to give the code until the order is actually ready, our orders are often canceled after about 10 minutes of waiting. It feels like orders are being canceled intentionally to avoid paying drivers for additional wait time. Many of us have heard that the same issue happened when she worked at the Ellicott City (Walmart) store. Since she came to Sykesville, many drivers have been dealing with the same unfair treatment. We respectfully ask store management to investigate this issue and remind the Pickup & Delivery manager to follow Walmart's policies and respect drivers' time. We are independent contractors, but our time is valuable, and we deserve to be treated fairly. We enjoy working with Walmart and want to continue serving customers, but if this situation is not addressed, many drivers may stop accepting orders from this store. Yet an other tale of fail.... Went through the express checkout bought three bags of ice. All the ice cases are empty at the front of the store, when asked if there is anymore ice associate responses are "how would I know", "I don't know", and "not my job". Go to customer service to get my money back. That takes 20 minutes. Store was not busy, but that place always finds a way to be horrible. Be it no carts, poorly stocked shelves, freight blocking the isles, or just being generally dirty. I don't find you prices make up for inept business practices. read more

I finally made it to this place! It is everything everybody said and more. A lot of walking, a lot of options! Its definitely a super center with the fresh produce, fresh meats and full service specialty shops such as vision and pharmacy. I was able to get everything off my list and more. The shelves were stocked well and they even carry items that I can no longer find at other sites. I was especially impressed with their meatless section. Their meatless section is larger than any other Walmart I've been to including super centers, as well as their competitors. That's enough to make me return back.more regularily. This is Walmart, so understand that when I compliment these guys it is significant. My father and I went here today to pick up a TV that my mother had been asking for. As you might expect, during the Xmas season, this place is a mad house. To makes things even crazier, they have this giant orange octagon that is supposed to "deliver" your order. Everyone stands around it like it is a false idol from olden times. Apparently, if your item is bigger than a cubic foot, you queue up and wait indefinitely. Best Walmart I've been to. The inventory is always stocked and easily assessable. We just went in for dog food but who goes to Walmart and actually come out with what they went for? I ended up skimming every aisle. I picked up dinner for two nights. It is clean and easy to find everything. I LOVE self checkout lines. That is a plus for me. Walmart lines are usually the worst but not here. There are two different sets of self checkout lines to chose from with cashiers in the middle. The store is terrible. I avoid it as much as possible, but have probably been to it about half a dozen times in the past 3 years. Latest ended up buying a last minute Christmas gift for my kid. It was a download for our Nintendo Switch. Well, turns out the activation code didn't work. I take it to customer service and they point out it's not refundable. I said fine get me a replacement. They give it back to me and tell me to call Nintendo. I don't appreciate being out the money but I really don't appreciate the nasty attitude that manager gave me. Walmart is a horrible chain. Yes lots of the products are cheap but they're mostly Chinese products. I wish this store would close. read more

I'm just glad I don't have to show my receipt when I leave the store. The store is organized, yet on my visit today there were a number of unstocked items vacant from the shelves. The checkout wasn't Walmart-long. The employees I encountered were helpful, but not very friendly. I guess you can't have everything at a Walmart, including the apple cinnamon Cheerios I came to buy. I chose something else instead because there are options. There is a Subway and salon on-site. Plus, they have produce, meat and plenty of milk options. This is my go-to Walmart. It's hands-down the most organized Walmart I have ever visited. Although, not 24 hours, this location is best visited during the non-peak hours to avoid huge crowds. The shelves are typically well stocked with inventory. On multiple occasions I have been asked if assistance was needed as I shopped, yay for customer service. This store make returns super easy, with or without a receipt. This location has an auto-center, hair salon, nail salon, Subway and Aunt Anne's pretzel. read more

By far and above, the beat WalMart in Northwest Baltimore county. The staff is always available and willing to help. They are very knowledgeable and never say "that's not my area". If they are in uniform and in the clock, they help you The shelves and well stocked and the deals and pretty standard of any WalMart. The restrooms are clean and well kept. The produce is fresh and the bakery items are readily available. They great subs (3 foot+) for games and parties. Walmart Sykesville Store #2436 Took two weeks to get a scheduled pickup. Finally did so on 4/15 at 11:15pm to be picked up between 7 and 8 pm on 4/21 - today. Received an email at 8:50am telling me my order was canceled. 'We're sorry, but we had to cancel your order due to unusually high demand. We know this is top-of-mind for you and apologize for the inconvenience.' Made 4 phone calls -- pick-up clerk, assistant mgr, 800# Customer Service and Grocery Customer Care. All saying "the system" canceled my order and once canceled, there was nothing that they could do, but I could try and schedule another pickup order date. Don't think they need to worry about that...ever. This is a total Customer Care failure. I know they are overwhelmed -- that is why it took so long to get on the schedule. However, that does not make it okay to blindside with a last-minute order cancelation because they are too busy to honor their commitment made 6 days ago. And finally, it seems each of the four representatives thought that by telling me this was happening to others, a lot, that somehow this would make me feel better about it...misery loves company mentality? This store has the worst customer service ever. I called the pick-up and someone kept hanging the phone up on me. They would answer the phone and not say anything and then hang up. Then I tried calling the main customer service desk in the store, asked for a manager and I have now been on hold for 26 minutes. I am working so not in a hurry but I just want to see how long they are going to keep me on hold. HORRIBLE customer service. Almost always stocked up. But in the last two weeks or so everything is locked up. Need body wash? You have to hunt for someone with a key. Mascara? Hunt for someone. Razors? Hunt them down. After waiting yesterday for about ten minutes for L'Oréal mascara and no one showing up, I ordered from amazon. Amazon is looking like my new go to for toiletries, I'm not waiting forever with a toddler to buy mascara. Update: On June 17 I bought a Smithfield bone-in pork shoulder. Opened it on 6/18 and OH MY LORD the smell. It smelled awful. The best by date was July 5. So I packed it up, returned it. Got another, this time boneless, sell by July 19. The lady that was checking her out was being outright awful and nasty to her, treating her like she wasn't even a human being. She asked for the manager and one of them came over only to be nasty to her too. My mother came home crying her eyes out.. Shame on you people! The tower was out of service due to technical issue. No sorry, no excuse me, just "You will need to come back tomorrow, the tower is down." Very nice brand new Walmart Supercenter in Eldersburg, Maryland. Today was its Grand Opening, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. The store itself is beautiful, modern, and spacious, probably the nicest Walmart I've ever been in so far, and that's saying a lot, since I've been in many Walmarts. It's even nicer than the Walmart Supercenter that opened over the Summer in wealthy Ashburn, Virginia. I can't wait until the similar new Walmart Supercenter opens here in nearby Frederick, Maryland, which is just now beginning construction. The only negative is the fact that this Eldersburg, Maryland Walmart Supercenter is not a 24 hour store, but that would be easy to change in the future, all it would need is a new sign on the door. This review is not on the Walmart its-self, it is on the Auto department. Very unfriendly people to not just me but all customers. Their front desk lady was very rude and raised her voice numerous times at the customer in front of me for asking questions that he was told they would be able to do for him. Lied to 3 customers on the phone and myself about being able to change tires on our car when the specific model, year, etc was given. We all showed up Saturday morning for the repairs and after waiting for over 40min of hold ups, found out "our cars would not be able to fit on the lift" after being told numerous times that everything would work. If you have anything other than a car I wouldn't advise this place for work unless its an emergency oil change. Very disappointed in the experience that have given. To be fair from the start, no Walmart deserves a 5, nor does it deserve a 1. It's impossible to manage the sheer volume, and the number of different services provided. But you can't get the selection and multitude of service options under one roof anywhere else. Looking at these other reviews, one image is clearly in their "seasonal" aisle, and claims to be low on stock. Of course it's low on stock, it's the overflow items they receive to cover what's wanted during the current season. It's the same aisle that starts off full then goes empty for Valentine's Day, Easter, etc. I've used several services at this location, as well as shopped probably every department. You can't go into a Walmart experience expecting lightning speed and top notch service. The business model doesn't support that lol. You can't have the best, fastest, and cheapest, that's not how it works. For example, typically the Automotive Care department can do most of what you want, but it might be a while, because every other customer that wanted an oil change or tires also figured they'd just drop off quickly while shopping for groceries. They do the work, they do it well, just plan on an ample amount of time. That being said, when I had an oil change and four tires done, they were the cheapest price around, and actually finished quicker than the promise time. I've also used the pharmacy. Man, what a thankless job that is. Kudos to the pharmacy techs and the pharmacists that work for Walmart. Yes, sometimes it takes a while to fill an Rx, however, again, every other person who figured they'd drop off and quickly shop for groceries or whatever also came to the same pharmacy. Be respectful, and allow the team time to properly fill your order. If they rushed, they might mess it up. I'd rather wait and have it done right. If it's not fast enough, remember, there's hundreds of other people who think their order is just as, if not more, important than your order. If they don't call you, call them, or sign up for text alerts. It's not a huge deal. They filled my Rx without an issue, and explained everything beforehand I left. Friendly team there, and they need to hear that more. Not as fast as their competitors, but it is what it is. The electronics, toys, sporting goods, tools, pet supplies, etc. all seem to be pretty well stocked on a regular basis. That's good, given the sales volume of the store. The grocery aisles are usually pretty full. There is probably an out of stock every time I go, but if it's only for one or two items, it doesn't phase me. They always have plenty of dairy, paper products, meats, breads, bakery-fresh items, fruits, and greens. If they are out of stock, its of boxed items, or snacks, or something else I can order online or run up the street and get from a real grocery store. I'm actually impressed on their in-stocks, given they aren't a grocery store. Their prices typically beat the grocery store, so I like to do my general shopping here. Checkout speed is hit or miss, but the self checkout usually runs pretty quick. I will say that several times I've seen backup cashiers called if the regular lines get too backed up. Again, as compared to local grocery stores, it's not any different, so it's hard to get mad. Walmart's business model doesn't call for an abundance of cashiers, it's always been that way. I get it. Also, I can't remember a cashier that I had a bad interaction with, but given that society tends to look down upon retail workers, especially at Walmart, I would expect they'd be cruddy, but they are typically very nice here. I did find an outdated item here once, and noticed after eating it. The Store Manager handled the situation very professionally, showed that he truly appreciated my business, and was sorry I had to go through the process. I have not used their nail salon, hair salon, vision center, or solar panel sales people. Subway is probably their own franchise, so I won't comment or review them here, nor does it impact this review. read more

I like having this super store here. Like most things about it, BUT why does it take about an hour for an oil change, and why are all the shopping carts in the parking lot when there appears quite a few employees standing around talking? Looks like some manager needs training. read more
