Incompetent management, incredibly long checkout lines (45 mins +), poorly stocked, 70% of employees not wearing masks correctly.

OMG! Went in at 6:45 AM to beat the lines. Found most things on my list minus the Plant Based Meats that were unavailable. Made it to the register, unloaded groceries only to have a customer in front who's food assistance card was denied 3 times, instead of suspending the persons groceries to allow other customers to be waited on, we waited 20 minutes as this customer was on the phone to see why her card was denied. After 25 minutes of this, I left more than $150 groceries on the counter versus reloading it into my buggy and going to another cashier. Extremely horrible customer service and lack of managerial efficiency was offered to make this situation doable for ALL customers. . I despise the lack of Professionalism exhibited at Walmart.. I went and had to start over at another grocery store.. Such a waste of valuable time... read more

Stay away as possible this store is the worst I have been in this store several times. The line go down the isles with folks waiting to pay for groceries 2 maybe 3 cashier with they face unhappy to be the with attitudes while groups of 3 to 4 fat lazy workers stand around chop it up terribly. It's Walmart so I don't expect much but this is ridiculous. The staff are rude, I asked where something was the lady looked at me like I'd just asked her to dance the foxtrot and then do a triple flip? She then ( without saying anything) walked away (does she want.ud to follow or did she just quit?) So we followed her she stopped and pointed up at the shelf then walked away. Er thank you I think. Stay as far away as possible. I've never just had a clean transaction here since it opened. There's always an issue: out of stock, ridiculous lines, cashiers with terrible attitudes. For today's shenanigans, I knew I needed to be in and out of the store after work to get home so I placed my order online for pick up. I get a call a few hours later saying they only have 15/20 so they'll have to cancel the order when I come into the store and refund my money. So I ask if I can just purchase what they have when I get there and to please set it aside. They say sure, the manager tells me to ask for Jacqueline upon arrival. Of course Jacqueline is MIA when she's asked to come help and communicates to the cashier I'm dealing with that I'll be refunded within one business day. Okay, so where's my stuff? Cashier goes and gets it from the holding room and tells me I have to go through the long ass normal checkout line. If I didn't need these containers tonight I'd have walked out but thanks Riggs Road Wal-Mart for being consistently awful. Target or Amazon from here on out. read more

I hate going to this Walmart. Their staff is never helpful, they never have anything in stock, and the lines are always too long.

I came here today with the intention of only buying a single item, and I ended up buying 5 items! I've shopped a couple area locations, and I can tell you that this place is much more robust. They have a huge fruit and vegetable section, and the clothes area is also large. I came in at around 3:30pm and the place was buzzing with people. The other great thing about coming here are the great prices. My sole intention was to buy a single Red Bull for $2.50, which is $1.00 less than anywhere else. I bought 2 for $5.00 exactly which would have cost $7.00 plus at the neighborhood convenience store. I also ended up getting the cooked roasted chicken for less than $5 and some candy for less than $1.00! You are not going to find those prices anywhere in the DC area. Granted it's about a mile drive from where I live in the city, but for me it wasn't a problem and I had the time. The chicken was good by the way, and it tasted like a real chicken! read more

The store hours are 6:00am to Midnight. The aisles were stocked to capacity. Employees were welcoming and ready to assist. I walked the entire store and decided there would be no need for me to shop at the Georgia Avenue and H Street locations starting today, this will be my Walmart. read more

This is an OK location. However, the lines are always extremely long and they never seem to have enough cashiers at the front. Also, many things are locked up such as shampoo body wash and other stuff. I don't recommend this Walmart and would suggest that people consider other stores for grocery shopping. read more

An unusually satisfying visit to this location. Everything I needed was in stock and easy to find. Ina was my checkout person and she was friendly and efficient. On the other hand, who ever decided that the self-checkout lanes should all be closed two and a half hours before store closing should be fired. read more

Wow! I stopped in the other night looking for hand warmers, as I was preparing to move the next day, and the awful customer service was astounding. After walking around for a few minutes, nobody offered to help me. Even though there were at least 12-15 employees standing around talking while stocking shelves. When I asked one employee, who seemed reluctant to help, where the hand warmers were, she yelled to another employee about 15 feet away, "Hey! Do we have hand warmers?" He responded, "Yeah, but I don't know where they're at!" She then walked away from me without acknowledgement. Does Walmart even train employees in customer service? This is just the latest example I've seen that indicates that they do not. I'm never shopping here again! read more

I frequent this Walmart and it is a hit or miss. There are times the shelves are fully stocked and then times it's completely bare. I regularly experience an insufficient number of cashiers so I spend more time in line than shopping. There seems be a significant number of employees at this Walmart but I'm just not sure why a majority of their lines stay closed. read more

This location has the absolute worst customer service. Furthermore, their inventory is not up to date. The website says they are the only location in the area with Lysol disinfectant spray. I've gone there every morning for the past three mornings as soon as they open and nothing is on the shelves. So they're most likely hiding the Lysol spray in the receiving area and letting employees take them all. If that's the case, the inventory needs to be updated on the website with the most valid numbers. If you say you have it in stock, it needs to be there. If it's not in stock, then the website needs to reflect that. Also, my mother got cussed at by one of the employees for asking a simple question about what's in stock. The employee said and I quote "shit, I don't know what we have. I don't work in the back. Don't ask me." Completely unacceptable. I get it...we are all tense and under great stress due to covid-19. I get it. However, there's a way you can go about addressing concerns and cussing at customers is not the way to go. Perhaps the employees there need to be reminded how lucky they are to still have a job because it would be worse for them given the amount of people that aren't working and have been laid off due to the virus. Get it together. And this complaint will be going to the corporate level. read more

This is easily the biggest walmart in the District and walking around it gives you the sensation of being out in the suburbs without the hassle of actually going to the suburbs. They have the standard tricked out electronics section that is pretty handy if you are not super picky. I use the straight talk phone service for my kids phone. The grocery section is really impressive and allows you to do a complete shopping trip without needing to visit the burbs. I still say support the little guys when you can for all retail but if you must visit a WalMart you could do worse than this location. read more

Thank you AISHA in electronics for helping me find a laptop charger because I left several at home! The supercenter Walmart even has an awesome parking garage, elevator and many beautiful people to help you! Sadly the local government will not allow them to sell any ammunition or guns. The local people are not permitted to protect themselves. Apparently only criminals own guns, and there are many guns in this area. I recommend that you come to this Walmart when you need a bargain and excellent service. However, not guns or ammunition, go to stores outside the area I guess? read more

This is bigger than the H St NW DC Walmart and seems cleaner, maybe because it opened later. But anyway, I was pleased to find fabric yardage here to purchase but couldn't find the gardening items I wanted (squirrel repellent). The Walmart app sort of worked in here but the aisles' numbering labels were hard to find so when I searched on the app for something it was harder to locate in the store. I don't know why but I got the feeling the store staff were watching me closely or following me or something. The biggest difficulty was in turning into the parking lot for the store as you have to go up the street and make a left and then turn right into their lot due to a traffic island out front. As a local i USED to frequent this walmart regularly for all of my household needs including groceries games and sometimes a CHEAP tshirt. After my last visit i will not return.... anyways, i was n a hurry the other day and went in to purchase a shirt. Being in a hurry i grabbed the my receipt and went to leave. As im leaving there was a group of roughly 6 people standing at the door talking and joking(common occurrence) as they are supposed to be checking carts to receipt. Seeing that they were failing to pay attention and do their job i asked a man if he needed to check my receipt he immediately snatched the shirt from my hand and got an attitude. Threatened to call the cops etc. after a couple minutes of arguing and being threatened he then told me the receipt was for a gatorade so i went back and got the correct receipt and got my shirt and left. Heres the kicker, once i left the store and waa driving away i notices the fat man and roughly 5 others walking out swinging their arms with their cheat poled out it appeares they followed me out of the store off of their property as they were looking for a fight... no callback from management this has bn pushed to corp ****UPON FURTHER UPDATE****** It is texhnically illegal for u to even stop me at the door as it is infringement upon my rights. Once i paid for those items and have a receipt I DO NOT HAVE TO SHOW YOU ANYTHING those items are legally my possession and paid for. So I'm going to start off by saying that I LOVE Walmart stores, and I love this store; but this review is about a particular customer service representative. I would definitely report her name, but of course she didn't wear a name tag. I'm picking up an item & haven't done this before, so I go to customer service and I wait in a line (normal practice). I get to the front of the line & by now there's a sizable amount of customers behind me, and this employee tells me to "go wait over there" in no polite manner. I go to the pickup line (where there is no employee) and she proceeds to help EVERY other customer behind me, including those who showed up after I went to the right line. Eventually, a man comes up and he tells the woman he doesn't know how to do in store pickups & she tells him to figure it out. She then talks to her coworkers for 10 minutes as he struggles to help me, profusely apologizing as he goes. As he's gone to try to find this item, she mutters about how Jared doesn't know how to do this and then CHECKS HER PHONE. Now there's a couple of customers behind me. Eventually she comes over and helps Jared finish the transaction, but not until after 25 minutes of me waiting. sorry Walmart but not this time read more

I am providing one star because I have to. I don't frequent this location in fact I've been there ONLY three times because of an ongoing error at the customer service desk. I dropped off online purchases at this location almost three weeks ago to have sent back to the Walmart.com warehouse and I have yet to receive the refund nor can they locate the items that were being returned. The customer service at location, which I cannot even begin to put in words, simply horrible. November 14, 2019 around noon is when the transaction took place. After being sent to speak to three different people, FINALLY someone was able to assist me. However, that was after she finished a transaction that she had with a customer who was selling fragrances. It was unbelievable.. NOW, after three visits later I made it clear that I refuse to leave the store until something was resolved. Robert, a small framed Caucasian male who appeared overwhelmed and rather fragile, reviewed the cameras to verify that I indeed did return the items. BUT, he cannot locate the items and said the agent who assisted me did not follow proper protocol but simply sat the items behind her. Please be mindful that there is so much merchandise scattered piled on top of merchandise along with shopping carts full of merchandise behind the counter. Therefore it is not surprising that the items I shipped could not be located. On top of all the hassle, November 30, 2019 around 7pm while waiting over an hour for the cameras to be reviewed, I had to witness and endure the associates unethical and unprofessional conduct. They didn't care less that customers could hear them as one male associate said he was going to put his foot up someone's a**. Another female agent sitting on bench at the end of the customer service desk was arguing with another associate about his schedule and used profanity repeatedly. ALL of this took place at the counter while customers were in line. It was a nightmare, an utter nightmare. All of that confusion only to be offered a $20 gift card "for my troubles". I received a call from Robert this morning, Dec. 1, 2019, he did not even know my name, when I answered, he asked is this the person that was at my store yesterday? He also did not introduce and/or address himself. The only reason I knew it was him was because of caller ID. Still no refund and I am now currently on hold with Walmart.com as we speak, 40 minutes so far. As of now, they are still clueless and have no records showing that the items were returned even after Robert claimed he contacted the billing department verifying that they were. She is back on the phone and of course they cannot find any thing. I give up.. read more

Cashiers lack customer service and work ethics. I was shopping for a birthday and I had a cart full of items. I approached a line and a young female cashier told me she was not taking customers. She sends me to another register and says someone will be with me. I wait with no service. I then notice the cashier take a guest that had less items than I. I ask to speak with a manager. I informed the manager of the cashier. He stated he would speak with the cashier. Bottom line, if you don't want to work, you don't want a job. read more

I am so very happy to have the convenience of a Walmart in my neighborhood. Today 11AM the energy in the store was not good. At the customer service desk the hot headed, young male, Walmart Associate raised his voice and cursed at a customer, all as a result of waiting on a Manger. Then I purchased a gift card and got the run around about the gift card envelope which I never received. This is my neighborhood Walmart and I shop almost weekly. However, the produce department is almost empty every time I shop here. What happen to meeting customers needs and demands. Who does the ordering here? I've worked for a grocer before in management and this is totally unexceptable. Also the quality of food is low. I call in to customer service every week because I am a vegetarian. This is crazy and frustrating. Who is the DM and where is he/she. Also the customer service is awful. Staff have personal conversation in the presence of customers and will make you wait on service while they conversate, they also usually talk on their cellphones and that's a real laugh. read more

My husband is a regular shopper at the Riggs Road Walmart. Often I have gone to the Pickup station for items. Each time I have been helped by a pleasant young woman who has always been pleasant in her conversation and professional in carrying out what her job is all about. Most importantly, I have never had to wait for a long time for my package to be brought to me. GOOD JOB! read more

Honestly, this is one of the worst Wal-Marts I've ever been to. This location was good for about 3 months after opening and then has been in a slow but constant dive towards mediocrity and disappointment. The escalators are always broken down, along with the cart escalator, pipes and parts of the ceiling are falling apart in the underground garage (which also always reeks of weed), the lines are always understaffed creating lines that stretch so far they block pathways in the store, the produce section leaves something to the imagination, the shelves are never restocked and are unorganized, and when the staff does decide to restock, they usually start two hours before closing and end up blocking customers from shopping with the never-ending array of pallets stacked all over creation. It is never fun shopping here, but rather a chore, and the result of there being nothing better in the area. When there is sufficient staff in the store (hardly ever) they are generally pleasant and helpful. The manager of this store has a lot of work to do...far from a well-oiled machine. read more

On 8/20/2017 I went into Wal-Mart to pick up a few items about 10:30am. I had parked my car in front of Wal-Mart on the street. I got everything I needed and checked out at self check out. (I was on the cell phone. Just running my month) I grabbed all my bags leaving my Wallet in the cart. I got all the way home and realize I left my wallet in the shopping cart. I run out the door and headed back to Wal-Mart. I got there in 15mins. I run to the carts but seen no wallet. I ask an employee did anyone turn in a wallet. They said yes it is at customer. I was so happy when a manager give me my wallet. All of my contents in my wallet was there. Even my money was all there. Thank you Wal-Mart for having trustworthy and honest employees. Long story short: I was misled by more than one employee because no one knew the store policy changed. It cost me almost an hour of my life... And no, this was not a new policy change. It was one that they should have known by now. This place is a tad better than the Georgia ave location, but it reeks of the same bad reps of customer service as most of the Walmarts in DC. I wouldn't call any within DC "super centers" like their Maryland and Virginia sibling stores. However, DC needed these convenient stores to invoke ppl to stay in the district. Back to the store. Produce: okay but where are the scales? Health and beauty: nice. Clothing: sufficient. Electronics: good. Market: good. Toys: blah. Home: good. And Checkout: pretty good. This place is solid.
