Beautiful park with plenty of parking throughout different areas. My friend and I brought her daughter here to come play before nap time. We were at a smaller playground at the park near open fields that look perfect for soccer or football. Plenty of table space for parties as well. There was a wildfire training going on nearby so we didn't want to venture too far off, but as we drove out and around the park to go home we could see lots of families at another part of the park with a much larger playground present read more

My favorite park in North County! Tons of safe walking paths for strollers, dogs and horses! I love the different playgrounds for different age groups... and seeing soccer games here brings me back to the good ole days. read more

Such a beautiful park tucked deep in San Marcos away from the freeway and traffic. Tons of parking. Lots of grass and two large play areas. There is security which makes it seem super safe. It's clean and well maintained. Ideal for an egg hunt. I'll probably be back again next year. read more

A friend of mine suggested we meet here and boy, I'm glad she did! I had heard of this park years ago, but rarely venture to that side of San Marcos. Now, I feel a bit dumb. Located on the far north side of San Marcos, this park offers something for everyone. Trails, BBQ areas, play structures, horses, beautiful views.... Park closes at dusk and the rangers will come to get you if you aren't out! By the time I left with my friend, half of the double sided gates were closed. They don't fool around! Awesome barn and park! Came here for the Easter spring thing. The barn served us a great pancake breakfast for $5! The park has new playground equipment. The city had a bunch of cool crafts and slides and other stuff. It was a fun time and free! read more

Excellent park for everyone. Dogs and horses are allowed and lots of opportunities to hike and even fly a kite.

Oh wow, I am a huge fan of this park. It reminds me of the old San Marcos when it was still country. This is tucked back away in the nurseries of SM. When you get there its quiet and peaceful on the weekdays and has events on the weekends. There is a huge equestrian, fields and a walking trail with lots of shade! I have a cool story to go along with the barn you will see they rent out for events. Well when I looked inside I told my friend I feel like I have BEEN in there before. well later on I tell my dad about the park and the barn. He replies, "oh yeah we would rent that place out on the weekends for meetings when you were a baby!" WOW, that is cool I felt that connection and was right. I am psych major so pardon my digression. I feel really at home in this park. Its peaceful. By the way if anyone could tell me what those locked holes in the ground are I would really like to be educated! I will have to go back when the mini old town part is back open, until then we enjoyed the view. read more

When soccer games aren't going on, it's a nice place to have a wedding reception or attend a kid's birthday party. I was fortunate enough to attend an event in the "barn". Plenty of space and the facilities met expectation. - If open, you might want to check out Tina's deli on the road in. You wont be disappointed. read more

Nice park, large lawn for soccer practice. I like driving through this area and looking at all the nurseries. There's a large barn but it's available as a rental venue only; so I wasn't able to go inside it. The historic heritage houses are kinda hard to see from the front parking lot, so you have to go to the back parking lot or walk. There's a fence around the houses and it was closed. The historic heritage park area is only open Tuesdays and Thursdays, as of August 2021. read more

Tucked away behind Deer Springs is a super magical layout for a day in the sun. Especially for those of us with fur babies, this is a beautiful park with a nice open layout. There are tracks that go around it for a place to walk or run and it even has dedicated space for horses. Plenty of parking throughout and when we were on our way out, we saw a couple of futbol or other sport teams gearing up to practice on the north side of the park. There are several fields to have multiple games on too. We entered on the south side entrance where they have a heritage museum. It's a really cute set up and maybe when the pandemic tapers off we can take a visit. We were there quite early around 8 am on a weekend and it was very peaceful and quiet with only a few people out walking their dogs or going for a jog. I wonder how this place is later in the day and expect it to be busier. It's a great place to kind of "get away" and be in nature for a moment. The mornings were perfect for social distancing and if we're in the area again, now we have a place to take our dog. Woof approved! read more

Long trail around the park to walk a dog, ride a bike or run. Do not stay past dusk as they will kick you out!! I was told to leave the park immediately as they were going to give me a "ticket" my first thought was my outfit was bad and the fashion police caught me, my second thought was my brisk walk was too brisk and I exceeded some speed limit both were incorrect... the sun had just began to set which meant they were closed!!!! Very good park for soccer games and practices. Big open fields. I would say it needs more trees and shade on the outskirts of the fields. I love watching soccer games under the shade of a big tree, not as much with those pop up shade tents though. There's something soothing and relaxing about communing under a tree that you just don't get otherwise. The play structures are basic but good diversions for the kids after practices or games if you have time to spare. A big negative is the chaos in the parking lot during games. Can't stand how the parking is arranged. I wonder how many accidents or people almost getting run over. Other than being a sports park, I do not really see the appeal of this park at any other time. It is a little out of the way, the play structures are not exciting, minimal shade, and no interesting plants or wildlife. But restrooms are adequate. read more

Plenty to love about this park. For one, there are plenty of parking spaces and even spaces under mature trees which provide needed shade in the hot Summers in San Marcos. Their facilities are updated and there is ample space to run, play, and explore. I stopped by this park to have lunch today under a shady tree. For a weekday, it was more active than I have previously thought. There were kids playing on the jungle gym, other city workers having lunch, and I even saw a woman on her horse riding the trail that runs on the side of the park! It would be a 5/5 rating if not for the long road that wraps around the park. You enter the park on one side, then drive around the park with multiple speed bumps in the way, before you enter the other parking spaces with the updated building with the restrooms. That can be slightly inconvenient. At any rate, this is a fun park and I'll definitely come back to have my lunches here when I'm in the area. read more

Small, simple, clean. Lots of parking. Lots of green grass. I came on a Friday morning and there are just a couple of kids here. There are a few dogs out getting some fresh air. Some are off leash. But there is a busy road on other side of field that I would be worried a dog would run to. 4 stars cause it is rather small and there isn't much shade for the playground itself. I appreciate playgrounds with shade so the equipment doesn't get so hot for the little ones. I only see a couple of shaded picnic tables. No grills. read more

A great place to run with lots of shady trails. Good foot traffic so you don't feel alone or vulnerable (at least I didn't in the mid-late morning hours). Choice of paved vs dirt trails. Also public restrooms are available near the parking lot. read more

Great family park - lots of soccer is played here so can be hard to plan events if there's a game. Bathrooms are fine. North side is much larger than south side. Both sides have playgrounds and covered benches for eating. During the fall, some parking congestion if there's a soccer tournament. read more

I play in a soccer league here on Sundays. This park is very big. There is room for 3 full-sized soccer fields on one side and space for another full-sized field on the other. There is also a place where they do stuff with horses in between. There are also a couple playgrounds and it is overall very clean. Would recommend! read more

They closed down over half of the free parking during a soccer tournament to force you to pay $5 to park. This is after getting $30 per kid at 400 to 500 kids For this amount of money the outlined soccer fields should've had fresher paint. You can bearly see the field lines. I really enjoy this easy bike trail, it's nice and calming when you ride early mornings or late afternoons. Not alone of course! Def a five star not becuase I love it, but becuase my girlfriend isn't really an active person and loves to stay home only, but she actually wanted to keep going on this trail. That's good enough for me to have someone finally enjoy the outdoors as much as I do. I believe this trail has possibly 4 different routes, but I'm not really sure... I'm kind of new here so seeing horses really gets me excited and feel like a child.. haha I love nature and I hope to find more bike trails that can be a little longer. Maybe 30 miles round trip?!??! read more
