I love this park! It's a great place to bring the little ones. They have a skate area for the older kids. And there's a dog park for the fur babies! I most especially love that this park is a 4 minute walk from my house, and my doggo loves that fact too. There is a baseball diamond and some walking trails. Nicely maintained park in the San Marcos park and trail system. It is a little off the main road, but still very easy to find. Plenty of parking and wide open grassy areas. There are some covered picnic areas and thee are play structures for kids. There are even some playthings that are cow related, makes sense since it is near the dairy. A nice clean park to enjoy. read more

This is a great park! I was first introduced to it when invited to a cornhole tournament here. I was really impressed with how clean, large and new it all was and the cool playground equipment for the kids. It's definitely geared toward older kids for the most part since the structure is really high, but they also have some fun stuff for the littles including two ride on swings-one for baby/parent and one for toddler/ parent. It's cow-themed for the Hollandia dairy. There was ample parking including ADA parking, a skate park, large grass areas, a rock wall, and a dog park. The play structure was totally empty on a Tuesday at around 5 when we went for a second time, so my little guys had it all to themselves. My only complaint is that it does smell like a dairy around that area-lol. But nothing I'm not used to being that I grew up in California's cow country. we will definitely be back! read more

Nice walking park, dog friendly. Kids enjoyed the playground, skatepark, & rockclimbing wall. Everything is well maintained. Restrooms are clean & stocked Softball fields well groomed & actively. Cons: There are ants as can be expected but definitely notable. There is an unpleasant smell that comes & goes consistently between visits... I believe it is from the milk processing facility nearby. Overall great park, thank you San Marcos for a nice place to be outside with the family. read more

This is the second City of San Marcos park we discovered today. I liked the terraced look to part of the park. The park has a ball field, covered picnic area, BBQs, a multipurpose field -- looks great for soccer -- restrooms, a climbibg wall, and nice looking playground equipment. This isca nice playground for the kids....they have a variety of play structures for the kids to play on.....including a climbing wall, a noce play structure with many things to climb up on...as well as slides. There are also a few swings The kids like to try it all. They also have a bathroom close by....which is important. read more

Not really sure how you can give a beautiful park like this a bad review. The kids area has a cool rock climbing wall, four swings with two allowing for two kids at once, a great playground structure, and lots of grassy areas around for kids to run and explore. It also has clean bathrooms and the water fountain water doesn't taste terrible. As a final bonus, there's plentiful parking available each time we've gone. All around an excellent place for kids. read more

Dog area is all dirt......no grass! Has great baseball fields but not recommend for your fur baby.

I decided to take the grandkids to a different park for a change. We happen to come on a day when school was out, which worked out great because I could imagine the busy traffic in the area. The park is next door to the school. My review is on the playground area, but I did see they had a area for skateboarding. The playground's ground surface is sand, some people may want to know that so they could bring some sand buckets, shovels etc., There is a play structure, and swings. Across the way is an area for rock climbing. There is a grassy area and a few picnic tables, that have a clear view of the playground and close enough to keep an eye on the kiddos. The restrooms are close by as well. I will keep this park on the list but need to make note of the school next door. I don't want to have to fight with any school traffic. read more

Two baseball fields, at least one soccer field with goals, a dog park area (I did not see this part), a fenced skate park, child's playground, and some small trails. We could hear the San Marcos HS band practicing. Lots of groups making use of the multi-use fields, skate area and playground. Multiple parking lots. Dogs on leashes. This is a great skate park but it is NOT for beginners. This is definitely a skate park built for experienced skaters. I have seen people ride skateboards, scooters, and roller skates here. The people who come to skate here are mostly middle schoolers and high schoolers as this park is right next to a school, and unfortunately that means it comes with lots of very rude, cruel kids. I have come to this park many times (as a girl) and been bullied by immature high school boys who think they are so cool. The only reason I'm giving this park three stars instead of one is because the design of the park is super cool and would be more enjoyable if there weren't rude kids here all day and night. read more

It took me a minute to find this park....I did not stay more than ten seconds....the enclosures are incredibly tiny.....if your allergic to grass then you found your spot!! there isn't a single blade of grass in either of the enclosures. This is a good place to take your dog....if your mad at him!! It's sad to see. Other than the dog park the rest of it is top notch. read more

I've been to Hollandia Park a few times, but never went to the playground. I've always visited dog park but the other day, we checked out the playground. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. There are several play structures, a climbing wall, close bathrooms, and sand! It's a rarity in San Marcos to have sand at the parks nowadays. There are a few picnic benches with shade. This is a really nice park, centrally located in San Marcos on the former site of the Hollandia Dairy. The DeJong family donated portions of their land for parks, Mission Hills high school, and this nice park. Thanks Arie! I remember buying their windmill themed pints of milk in elementary school on the coast...for a nickel!! This park provides all sorts of recreation opportunities, from dog parks to skate parks! Really nice. Easy in and out from the main road, just west of the high school. Plenty of green space, in addition to well placed paths and hardscape. A bonus here...well lit and clean restrooms. read more

My dog and I walk here a lot. Love the trails and my peaceful walk along the trails. I do not go to dog parks. You never know who enters that gate. I get a good work out and my blood pressure has lowered due to my best friend and I walking there. It is quiet and wonderful. read more

This is probably my favorite park in the area. San Marcos does a great job with all of their parks and recreation. Every time I come it is very well maintained and the bathrooms are always clean. There is a little bit of everything at this park including walking trails, dog park, playground, skate park and much more. We like to go in the evening right after work and it is never to busy. Sometimes when there are games on the field it can get crowded but it's never been an issue. I think that one of the reasons this place is so well maintained is because I'm pretty sure a city employee lives at the park. There is a real nice house inside the park and someone is always there. I will definitely be back and recommend this park to anyone with a family. read more

Had my nephew's birthday party here and it was perfect! Seems to be a hidden gem because it wasn't busy at all! We were able to come at lunch time and didn't have to worry about fighting over tables with other parties or bbqs! The park itself is super clean and the playground is perfect in size! They even have a cool rock climbing wall. There were also trails you can hike,bike and walk your dog! The dog free leash park was empty and I can't wait to bring my pups there! The bathrooms and the entire park are so well kept! Super clean! Only downfall is the parking was a bit of a walk especially when your carrying lots of things for a party! If the parking were closer I would have hands down given this place 5 stars!! I can't wait to come back to this park with my baby girl and pups! read more

Really dig the dog park. Layout is confusing at first but it's aight. Dog park has 2 section, a small section and a large section. When we showed up some privelaged ladies were in the large section and we went to the smaller section. We had two puppies, a German Shepherd and a Rottweiler. And all I can here is the ladies telling their kids "this is a dog park and people should only bring small dogs to a dog park blah blah blah". I wanted to tell shut up but decided not to infront of their kids. We started speaking Spanish and I think they got scared and left because as soon as we did they looked over and packed their bags. So went into the larger section they were occupying. Good riddance! Nice place to bring your dog if dumb privelaged people aren't there. read more

Mission Hills Park is a nice park in San Marcos. The park has a big jungle gym( with sand), baseball fields ,skatepark, dog park, a climbing wall and a big grass area for flying kites and other things. There are benches to sit on. It is located next to the high school and the grounds are kept up. Next time you want to let your kids burn some energy off take them here. read more

This is a great park for the active 5 yr old. Rock clumbing wall, sand and usually enough kids for them to have impromptu play date with a random kid. What I don't like is the debris from the playgrounds synthetic perimeter mixing in with the sand. Doesn't seem very healthy. And there are a lot of it in the sand. There's a tot structure as well as one for the older kids. Restrooms are somewhat convenient. One thing I just don't understand is why there is not enough shade. We live in so cal and everyone knows how dangerous too much sun exposure is. Why does the city not address the lack of shade by simply planting big trees...not those scrawny stick things that try to pass for trees but real actual trees with branches and leaves that provide enough shade? I blame it on all those park and rec people who have never probably spent any time at the park with their kids on a reg basis outside of work hours. Go when the sun is out in full force and you will understand! read more

What a clean little park! It was very serene with well manicured baseball fields, playground for the kids, and nice dirt and cement trails leading away from the park. There is a rock climbing wall for the kids and a skateboard park. I was a little worried with the sign "Park at your own risk" until I realized what it was for! We just moved here and was looking for a nice park near the house. The dog park portion has two area for small and large size pooches. There aren't much shade or green grass but it's nice and enough rooms for the dogs to run around. You also have an option of hiking with your dog in the trail inside the park too! It also includes​ the baseball park and nice playground for the kids as well. read more

Beautiful park. Well kept. (Lately the weeds have gotten bad). Parking during baseball games can be limited and there are drinkers and smokers. Some families on outings leave a mess (how can people do that). The ranger and cop visits have dropped off. read more

I had to stop bringing my dog to this park due to people walking their dogs off leash. The signs are posted and there is a fenced in dog park but still people feel the need to not keep their dogs on leash. I love the park, and it's a close walk from my house, I just can't deal with off leash dogs every day I visit. Yes, there is also teenagers smoking and drinking but they don't bother me and I don't bother them. If the leash laws ever get enforced here I will be back. read more

I take my two year old to the playground area. It's safe and clean and he loves it. The nearby skatepark is pretty fun to watch as well. The only downside is that it's next to the high school and a few times when we've gone the teens were hanging out near the playground smoking weed and dropping F bombs like their lives depended on it, talking about their friends in juvie. (In San Marcos? You'd think they thought they lived in Compton.) But thankfully that's rare. Overall, it's a well-kept park that's great for children. read more

Beautiful park in a very nice location with lots of amenities. However we were only there for about 10 minutes and a 4 foot rat snake popped out of the drainage area and crossed the sand headed straight for the playground and the kids. Pass. What idiot designs a park with the most desirable place for snakes inches from the playground. An idiot with no kids presumably. Doubt we'll ever go back. read more

What a fun park! My son used to have his baseball games here when he was young but now we bring our little 2 yr old niece to play and have fun. She loves the play structures, the climbing wall, the sand and the slides. There is so much grass and room to run around! The views from the park are gorgeous too. read more

The Hollandia family was so generous to create one of the largest parks for young people in the city of San Marcus. Many softball fields, dog park, soccer fields and running trails and skateboard park. A note about the skateboard park, it has been closed in the past because skateboarders were not wearing their helmets. People of the city walk by to check it out, so wear your helmet. read more
