On the way down to San Diego. We needed a place to let the dogs run around and stretch their legs. Found this place on Yelp. It's not to far from the freeway. It has both a large and small area for the dogs. Both are fenced in. Both have water and poopie bags available. For being in a neighborhood,it was pretty clean. It has a clay surface,like a baseball field. Which is what I prefer,no smell,and easier to keep clean. We lucked out,there was another beagle there today. To bad we really couldn't stay longer to play. But next time we know to plan ahead to stop at this place read more

This a good park with plenty of parking and has bathrooms too. There's an area with fountains for kids to run around in during the summer. A nice soccer arena, playground, sitting area with shade and picnic benches. It has two really nice and really big grass fields that unfortunately is closed a lot for maintenance and upkeep. There's also a paved walking path and a basketball hoop but not much of a court. read more

Such a beautiful park! It is a lot bigger than it looked in photos to me, with plenty of grass, some kind of outdoor sports arena, playground with splash pad, restrooms, and beautiful views of the hills of San Marcos! I spent a Sunday afternoon here and had a blast! My kid loves it, I played here as a kid as well when it opened up years ago. The water features our favorite well as the main playground.

Great park to go for an evening stroll. They have a dog park area for small dogs and another one for larger dogs. There is also a half Frisbee golf course. Two playgrounds for the human kiddos. The bathrooms are maintained and kept pretty clean. Definitely a nice place to check out. read more

We have been to this park quite a few times and it's great. It is nearly always quite clean. There is a big parking lot that makes accessing the park really easy. The splash pad is so fun. My kids love that they get to turn the water on and there is plenty of room to run around. The play equipment is great for a big age range of kids. I have a three year old and a one year old and they both are entertained while here. The area seems safe and I have never had any trouble here. read more

I recently moved to the area last year and had never been or known about this park before . Needed a place to take my dog for a walk and decided to look it up here in yep . To my surprise the park was very big and well maintained and more importantly very clean . As soon as you pull up to the parking lot , there are 2 basketball courts and a kids covered playground and splash zone . Awesome I thought! Then to my surprise as I walked towards the back there was a bridge that led to even more space in the back with a contained soccer field ( need to reserve ) and a open field for playing soccer or football . There was a fenced in off-leash dog park at the very back . For dog owners , you will need to keep your dog on a leash when you are walking around common areas . I am so glad I found this hidden gem so close to home ! read more

This is the first time I come to this park and will say it's definitely worth the visit . They have a lot of activities to do around the park like a baseball field, soccer field, basketball field, sides , and last a little water wet zone spot. Not my hood, but I was in the area with my dog and Yelped dog parks, and found this place. Relatively hidden - down a dead end road. Very nice park. Pretty large, with lots to do. Off-leash dog areas separated by large & small dogs. Playground, big field, plenty of water fountains, etc. I wish it was closer to home. read more

What a fantastic park. I love that the splash area is right next to the shaded play structure, so it is easy to keep an eye on multiple kids. There is excellent shade. The giant snake head is fun for kids. They're renovating the splash area next week so it will be interesting to see what it will look like. Around my house, there are about five or six small parks within reasonable walking distance from my front door. But, with a large dog and two rambunctious kids, sometimes there's a need for something a bit more grand then a swing set and some greenery to run around upon. Sunset Park is a huge area with multiple parks, a soccer stadium, enough flat space to play two games of football (or practice), two full playgrounds, a mini water park, and a really nice dog park. There's plenty of space to wander, enough scenery where you have something different to wander by just by going 50' or so down the path, and a fair amount hidden spots for kids to play in or for teens to congregate under. The only downside is that as one of the few nearby dog parks, it can be tough to enjoy at night when the overhead lights are off. So, unless there's a practice of some kind happening (a rare occurrence in the off season days of winter), you can expect darkness at night when you bring your pooch. This means, if you work during the day like a normal person, there's long periods during the year when you may not be able to visit. And when you have a new puppy excited to see other puppies his size, that can kinda suck. Still, great overall park and really nice to have it near my neighborhood. read more

This is a pretty little park hidden away on the small hills of San Marcos. We needed a little place to air out the kiddos before meeting friends for dinner near by. Google is pretty on point with the directions but it does have interesting roads leading up to the park (not sure how to maneuver the car to the side with the splash pad.. Google will take you to the side with the dog park). When we arrived on a Friday afternoon, there weren't that many people at the park and it was nice weather. The traffic on the 78 is the worst part of getting there (specifically on a Friday afternoon). There is nice and open parking. Everything looked very clean as we approached. There's decent bathroom facilities right next to the dog park.. and it was adorable how they separated the big dogs from the little dogs. There were a bunch of grandmas and their chihuahuas and smaller dogs just congregating together with their picnic chairs. Some gorgeous big dogs.. The playground is on the newer side with plenty to do from toddler and up. We walked down and saw the beautiful and well kept fields.. a nice bridge with lots of greenery.. an "indoor" soccer field.. and yet another playground with a splash pad! If you have small children who like to explore.. this is definitely a fun park. The playgrounds were nice.. the one near the splash pad is geared more to smaller children.. but all in all a newer park with nicer facilities. If we're in the area and need to air the kids out.. definitely could consider getting some exercise here. Worth the visit and can be fun for the whole family. read more

It's been years since my initial review and I have to say, this park has grown on me. I think the newness has worn off because this park isn't as crowded as before. It can get busy when kids are off from school, but not as crowded as before. There are two parts of this park and they area connected by a walkway. Easy to go back and forth. Just something to note, only one part has swings. Both my kids happily play here. The splashpads are turned off due to the drought, but it's still all good. There are a few picnic tables in the back, a sand volleyball court (which kids always want to play in with their sand toys), basketball court, clean bathrooms, and a few water fountains by the bathrooms. I'm happy to upgrade this park to four stars. We really enjoy it. read more

What a beautiful park. Sadly it's hidden away and the only people who know about it are the locals. The park is off the main street of Rancho Santa Fe. There are a few turns to get there and the entrance is towards a dead end streets after a big long hill. I was really surprised of how large this park is. The parking lot has tons of parking space. I decided to walk around and there are different areas (west and east parks) where you can plant your stay. There is a dog park, an enclosed soccer area, a couple of play grounds, LARGE open grassy areas, frisbee golf course, covered picnic areas and bathrooms at each end of the park. It's beautifully maintained and when I came here on a holiday weekend, it was practically empty. There were some parties, but nothing distracting, loud or annoying. The views from the west side of the park are nice and they overlook a greenery and some nice homes. read more

Baseball stadium, covered playground, uncovered playground, Dog park with both small and large dog areas (gravel which isn't ideal tho), Frisbee Field, Soccer area, multiple areas to eat and sit, large grass area to play, beautifully decorated! This review is for the dog park within this park, as we were taking our pups around on a tour of dog friendly areas. This park is smaller than some (Mayflower) but larger than others (San Elijo Hills). It is a dirt surface, nice for poop pick up, not so nice for the interior of your vehicle for the ride home. This dog park had separate areas for large and small breeds, as well as a nice canine drinking fountain. The good: nice space for dogs to run. The not so good: again, very little to dislike here, maybe more space, but we found it adequate. Plenty of parking here too. read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting his family in Vista and decided to grab lunch at Mariscos Ensenada and search for a park nearby his family's house. This place came up and I absolutely love it. It's very clean, there's little trails you can walk, some seating areas were completely shaded (which is where we sat to enjoy our lunch). They also have a dog park area, large fields for various sports, frisbee golf, playgrounds for the kids and 2 basketball half courts. Of course, it was all closed due to the pandemic (they even removed the basketball hoops), but I still enjoyed the cleanliness of it and the view it provided. I'm sure when things open up again, it's a fun time for everyone. read more

Had a play date for my son here today and he loved it! The playground near the splash pad is suited for younger kids - smaller slides, climbing, etc which was great because my son, who is 3, is pretty scared of heights and won't go down most slides but he was fine with the ones here! This is my son's favorite park now! The great jungle gym equipment is sturdy and clean, newer and in working order. There are coverings to reduce sun exposure and minimize the heat on the surfaces of the equipment. The wood chips beneath the play equipment make it easy to clean up (no sand) and the splash pad is super fun and very close. Makes it easy if someone has two kids with one wanting to be on the splash pad and the other on the jungle gym. The huge grassy areas of the park are beautiful and open. There are sand volleyball courts, a couple concrete basketball courts, many picnic tables, clean and working bathrooms with several stalls, waste bins throughout the park for easy disposal. The whole place is clean! Parking is a little tight when it's busy but there is plenty...a couple separate lots around the park. We just LOVE this park and will be back many many more times! read more

This park is a rare treat, nestled in the hills where San Marcos and Vista peacefully merge in a beautiful combination of culture, community, and some incredibly awesome people! One of Hunter's classmates was here playing as we happened to be riding bikes and she was so sweet that I stopped to talk with her while Hunter knew her name right away. They have a lot in common and I was in for an even bigger treat when her aunt came up with the rest of the kiddos they'd come with and we struck up a conversation. She was super laid back, and I gave her some resources that hopefully help her out. I also gave her my number and I think this just might be the first time I've really hoped that someone I exchanged (at least partially - I didn't have my phone!) info with would really follow through with making contact. She told me there are tons of breweries around this specific area that have live music and karaoke; and we seemed to have just enough in common to keep things interesting without needing to purchase matching outfits. ;) Meanwhile, Hunter's friend explained how she'd had a run in with some bullies and because they had more numbers than her lone self, their defense of one another as believed over her. That broke my heart because if you feel you are the only one advocating for yourself and you don't think you're going to be believed anyway because although you're the one with the marks and the bruises, they're the ones who have an instant alibi when you try to hold them accountable for their behavior. I felt bad for her because that was so very much how I was in school. She was such a kind and friendly person that I found myself happy Hunter had such a wonderful classmate that he knew and made regular contact with. I'm really hoping that her aunt makes contact; and maybe I can have an excuse to start going to Autism Society events again...and I can help someone else get services and supports for someone they love. That makes my heart feel good just thinking of it. I hope it pans out, and I don't want to get all weird and geeky being so stoked about meeting someone who felt like a sort of kindred spirit, but I really did have fun there and I'm so glad that I didn't immediately get out and start riding around because I might have lost all my oomph before I got to met her and her aunt. What a great personality for Hunter to make plans with, and they have a tennis court and a pool, which are two of the coolest things to have in your backyard that aren't something you can eat and/or producers of food you can eat. unfortunately the water feature makes this place absolutely disgusting. People let their kids play in the water in regular diapers which wind up hanging extremely low as they get saturated, and then the same kids go onto the playground and when they "do their business" it leaks right into the playground. My son stepped in a pile of human feces the last time we were there. It's super gross and unsanitary. read more

Its always a bit schocking to myself when I find a local park I have not reviewed yet. I am a huge partaker in free nature. haha This particular park is super clean, with bathrooms and well maintained landscape. They have a playground, lots of grass area and a sports field. My favorite part is the trail. It ends up cutting through residential and does not do a full loop unless you end up walking the street. Once in the street continue the walk if you want, or cut into Briggs for a further exploration of beautiful foliage. There are two entrances, the north side is a dead end into the parking lot. It is pet friendly on leashes, and kid friendly off and on leashes. hehe I will return, over and over. Great for parties on the weekends. read more

As of January 2013, the playground is well maintained- in good working order! This is a hidden gem! I live in Carlsbad and I think it's worth the drive for my twin preschoolers to come play at the playground and in the water features. The playground is encircled by concrete walls- it's not completely sealed off but it gives a clear definition of the play area. Unless your kid really likes to wander off, it's a good place to keep an eye on them. I went on a Friday morning-- there were a lot of kids- a very busy area, but not overwhelming. I sat on the grass on the perimeter and didn't have any problem keeping an eye on my 3 yr old girls. I think if you're comfortable with your kid playing independently, without needing hands-on assistance, you should be fine. My girls loved the spinning equipment- all kinds of rotating buckets and bars that kids can sit on and spin around at an angle. The play area flooring is a combination of rubber foam and wood chips in different areas. The water area is concrete and foam. Note- since this is a fairly new park, your car GPS may have trouble finding it. I also had trouble using Google Maps! You may need to enter the intersection (La Mirada and Puesta del Sol) NOT La Puesta del Sol --- which is in Pismo Beach :-) And you CANNOT reach the park from Pointsettia Ave & La Mirada- road is blocked off. read more
