Beautiful big, grassy park. The grass is green all year round, there is a playground as well as a big pond where ducks love to swim and lay their eggs. Please do not feed the ducks unless it is special duck food. Feeding them the wrong things can actually be bad for their digestive tracks and make algae growth in the water (because of their poop). The park always has people in it, no matter the time or day. It's right next to Woodland Park Middle School so often times there are young people around. Many people also walk their dogs here, but they must stay on a leash. There is no official, fenced in dog park here, sorry. This is a beautiful, relaxing place. If you bring your kid on the weekend though, watch them very closely. Tons of people, easy to lose a kid in seconds. The park is also directly on a main road, so fast moving cars nearby.

See the monarchs on the native lilac bush in spring

This is a good place to see butterflies! There is a habitat in the fenced area between the park and the middle school next door. There are mainly monarchs--nearly year round but mostly during spring and summer. There are several other butterfly species seen also in the spring and summer. This is registered monarch way station. Each year more and more butterflies are seen frequenting the habitat. And its free! Park near the Wooden house and see them flutter around.

There's something so peaceful about looking at ducks! We had a little picnic in the shade by the playground and then sat at the duck pond for a while. The playground itself was also really fun. My 3 year old loved the slides and swings.

Lovely park. The pond at this time of the year is full of ducks waiting to be fed. Please only feed them with duck food. There is a children's park and space to gave picnics or celebrate birthday parties. The swimming pool is still closed. Hope it will open sooner than later

I've been coming to this park on a regular basis now and I can say it's one of my favorites. There's always a good amount of kids here, most parents are actually watching their kids, and the kids are friendly! Baby swings, big kid swings, climbing structures for everyone...it's really nice. I'm glad they have shade over the playground now. The only downside is the closest bathroom is up the hill by the pools. It's not a long walk, just located further away than other parks. We'll be back!

This is a very nice community park close to our home in west Escondido. The four star review is simply because we can figure out why there seems to be a bluish green hue to the lake water here? Odd, and hopefully not harmful to the huge population of water fowl that congregate here. We see a lot of weekend use here, birthday parties, graduation parties, all sorts of fun activities. We came here on a mellow Thursday morning to spend some time training one of our labradors. Turned out to be a perfect spot for his training, as we were able to work uninterrupted with plenty of space away from other dogs. Lots of grass space here and a few nicely spaced benches. Great family park and dog friendly.

Been bringing my kids here for 15 years, put one kid through the middle school and now my second. I cant believe this park has stayed as nice and clean as the day I was pushing her on the swings! They have updated the structure once in the last decade, but its so clean. Maintenance is nice and there is a trail you can learn to ride your bike or skate on. PLENTY of grass and me and my kids personal fave the duck pond. I wonder how many generations of ducks I have fed over the years? BTW I feel safe enough in this park to be in it at night alone with my son. Kids still walking around with parents into the late summer hours.

Turtles enjoying the sun at Woodland Park.

Love walking my dog around at this park. The last few times we were there we saw a ton of turtles in the pond. Very relaxing place to visit.

When i found out this park had turtles it was a must see. Lovely park but was concerned about the condition of the water in the pond. It was so dark and green that you could not see anything over the water line even in the shallow part. Walked to other end of pond and there was slime on the top of the water. It is very concerning to me that it is not kept up since there is wildlife that lives there.

Quite the small park, nice place to have a picnic. Not really too large, but the little pond out front looks pretty cool. Tons of ducks and stuff hang around this place.

Even though it is an outdoor park, it has this energetic atmosphere that teenagers would enjoy a lot. I saw a surprising number of teenagers around the lookout areas, the trails, and the picnic spots, which made the whole place feel youthful and social in a way that reminded me of the playful energy I felt at Funko Hollywood. The wide open views at the top almost felt unreal when I first saw them, and I could easily understand why so many teens were taking pictures there. The scenery practically invites you to take photos without needing anything extra. As I walked around, I realized there was more to the park than I expected. Some parts of the trail felt a little worn down, and a few areas could have been more polished, which is part of why I would give it four stars instead of five. Still, I appreciated how easy it was to explore the park without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Even with groups of teenagers laughing and taking pictures, the atmosphere stayed calm and relaxing. I only visited Double Peak Park one time before writing this review, but it left a strong impression on me because of how open, peaceful, and lively it felt all at once. It is one of the more refreshing outdoor places I have been to in a while, and I never doubted that the experience would turn out the way I hoped it would. I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because they would love the photo opportunities, the sense of freedom on the trails, and the creative feeling that comes from being somewhere with such a wide and inspiring view. It gives them a place to hang out, take pictures, and enjoy themselves without spending any money.
