The unique part of the park are the natural spaces with dirt, rocks, plants, grass, and trees which are important for children who mostly don't have backyards and might have never seen a backyard. Unfortunately, these have been locked up with chains and locks, even the grassy area where families and groups used to host sing-alongs and birthday parties. I know there's a neighborhood group that likes to plant flowers in two of the spaces, but there has to be a better way to balance the needs of children to play in natural areas and the flowers. For the past several months, there's been a wasp nest hanging from a tree, and for several months they used to put yellow caution tape around the benches with the wasp nest, but people keep taking down the tape and sitting 6 feet away from the wasp nest. They haven't taken down the wasp nest although we've reported it, and they haven't been putting up the yellow caution tape.

I've been to this park twice for birthday parties (yes, the city allows for people to purchase…read morepermits) and everytime it was a success! The park isn't huge, but it's a great place for families to hang out. There's some water spouts in the middle of the park, slides, swings and other playground apparatus for kids. There's a few sections of the park that can be used for private parties as well. From what I've heard, it only cost $25 to rent a section of the park for 5 hours, which is undoubtedly an awesome deal.

The water fountain and small ponds (I think that's what they're called) are beautiful and there are plenty of opportunities for the perfect bird photographs. This is the perfect spot to hang out with some friends, get your steps in, or just processing emotions while listening to music. I couldn't believe that this was my first time even hearing about this place because of the great things that I had heard about it but I'm glad that I came and I would be more than happy to come back and bring some friends with me. Reopening in 2019 after a two-year, $5 million reconstruction that was designed in partnership with the Prospect Park Alliance[2], this playground has something for children of all ages: swings, two playground areas catering to little kids and older ones, two sets of sprinklers, four basketball courts, a fenced handball court, a small gym area, an open play area with synthetic turf, and a walking/running track. I like how this playground appeals to very different people: families with young children, kids playing basketball, skaters, fitness and training classes in the open play area[3], kids from local daycare centers, people working out, birthday and block parties, etc.. This playground is generally clean; perhaps cleaner than most playgrounds in Brooklyn I know. The park is about 3.2 acres in saize. There is an area in the center that has 5 tables to sit 4…read morepeople each. Each table has a chest board embedded on top. After i finished eating, a family of people came by to do a BBQ graduation party there. 20 people can sit comfortably there. All you see is mostly families. People walking theie dogs, riding the bikes. There were kids on mini scooter. It has been tough during this pandemic of 2020. There was a little girl, she must have been about 6 years old, on her scooter saaying to her friend. "This is the best day ever". This should remind us how important these parks are to the inner city. There plenty of benches and almost all of them had someone sitting, reading or dozing off. The path which encircles the park on the inside has plenty of room for soneone to ride their bike while walking with 2 or 3 other people next to them. A few people had their Bluetooth speakers playing music. They were not playing too loud. The day was peaceful and tranquil. Another group of people came towards the North entrance and started another BBQ. The North entrance also faces the Saratoga Village NYC housing. The ark is not perfectly designed, it does need updating. Grass seeds need to be planted in many areas. However it was a nice place to be for a change. It was truly a nice day in the park.

Soon as you enter the main gate there are benches and grass area to sit. Walking pathways are kind of narrow and shared with kids riding their bikes and scooters. A small baseball field in the center of this park makes for great outdoor activities for anyone. The four playgrounds are the best kept secret of this park. There are lots of slides for kiddies to older children and all play areas are newly constructed, colorful, and sturdy. Kids will have fun running up and down all of the areas. It is a predominantly Othrodox neighborhood, everyone minded their own business and continued playing. Park is kept clean and very well maintained. One of the nicest parks in Brooklyn.

Brave little kids can rock climb up to the slide and little babies and kids alike can crawl and run under the rock arch.
