The aesthetics of Waltonwood are appealing and many of the caregivers are angels. The food is delicious and lots of activities are offered. I think Waltonwood used to be top-notch but I think it's slipping. Maybe the caregivers are not compensated enough or maybe they have too much work to do because you could wait forever after buzzing for help for someone to come in and assist you. My husband resides at Waltonwood Senior Community-Sterling Hgts., MI. He is situated in Memory Care. For anyone stressed or unable to care for a loved one by oneself this community is a good option. Especially considering the lack of employees in every establishment WW manages to have everyday life for folks run & achieve the trajectory we as family hoped for. There is nowhere perfect--including at home. But WW affords my spouse a more safe environment than I did. Because he is an extrovert being with several people, participating (sometimes he only observes) in planned activity, including walking this outlet for him has relieved our collective minds! Honestly wouldn't recommend. I went to visit my grandma and I was appalled by the sight I was told I have a good imagination but I knew this was real when I walked into my grandmas room and seen bugs crawling around like her room hasn't been cleaned In months or even days. I even stayed for dinner with my grandma and the supervisor was beyond rude she nearly made my grandma fall by pulling her walker away from her I'm so sad I couldn't catch her name but I'm definitely removing my grandma from this nursing home ASAP not to mention my grandma said the food was terrible I also find a hair in my food I asked them what they did for people that are allergic to milk and they said "we give milk" and they laughed but I didn't find it funny read more

I sat with Vickie - who seemed to have a really great understanding of the healthcare world right now and was very knowledgeable about dementia care. She was patient and answered all of my questions. What a difference this building has made in the lives of the residents. They stayed ahead of the curve with Covid and kept their residents and families as safe as they could. Programming was creative and increased within safe limitations. Smaller groups but more groups. Lots of virtual programming so residents could feel safe and engage at their comfort. SENIOR CITIZENS BEWARE!!! If you or a loved one is going to move into a senior citizen complex soon and you are considering Waltonwood at Lakeside PLEASE read my review first. There are several things you need to know about. Waltonwood comes across picture perfect, and for the amount of money seniors must pay to live here - it better be perfect, but it is not. First, they do not have 24 hour first aid individuals on staff (at least this location does not). Second, their food is unsatisfactory more times than not it is cold and tasteless. Again, one would think for the amount of money we spend here we would (at the very least) have something delicious to eat. Third, before renting a unit here I specifically asked about the average cost for heat and electric I was told for both it would range about $100.00 a month. My costs are DOUBLE this. Fourth, look at the cold air return mine is blowing cold air back into the living room. I bought a floor thermometer to test this the floor temp holds around 57 degrees to 64 degrees even though my thermostat is set at 72 degrees. I have complained many times, which brings me to the management practices at Waltonwood. Keep in mind when leasing here (or most places for that matter) they are salesmen. The manager at Waltonwood has told me for the past several months they are "working on my temperature issue" but I have yet heard back and have yet had anyone physically take care of the problem. I have found once you sign the lease and they have your money they treat you like you don't matter and discontinue answering any of your questions. I have talked to other residents here at Waltonwood and they too have issues with the establishment, but they are afraid to speak up. I just don't think that is fair, so I am taking matters into my own hands. These are just a few of my issues that I feel you should look into before spending Big Big Bucks and receiving SO LITTLE in return! read more

People that work at Waltonwood are fantastic! They truly care about their residents. My mother was in the memory care unit for 8 months. They gave her wonderful care and were always available if we had any questions or concerns. The facility is clean, the food was good and everyone on the staff was just great. The personal aids that tend to the residents are very caring, they are attentive to their needs at all times. I recommend this facility. A five star rating well deserved! read more

Terrible.....would not recommend. We were there exactly 20 mins....and my Mom did not like the place. The company would not give our money back! That was $2,000.00 is what they kept! Very unreasonable. read more
