Celebrating a birthday here on Saturday night and it was so fun! I had personally never been here, but the vibes and the crowd were great. With it being a karaoke bar, the music was so fun! I know my friends put in song requests to sing, but I think the wait was too long. Walt's Inn truly embodies the meaning of a dive bar and is such a staple in Baltimore. The drinks are great and I love how they are served in red solo cups. Really shows the character and vibe of the bar! The bartenders were very nice and the prices can't be beat. Walt's Inn is such a classic Baltimore dive. Open since the 1920s, it has a 100+ year old history in Canton, and it's a great spot if you or your group are into karaoke. It's a narrow, tight bar; it has a few seats, but most of the time you'll end up standing during karaoke hours. The bar is a classic dive bar, with the all the drinks and options you'd expect at a dive. I've been a few times, and it has great vibes - community karaoke where the audience (standing not very far from the singers at all) get involved, too! Walt's Inn is the BEST. This is a dive bar that always has karaoke and is always a good time. They are known for their Jell-O shots and drinks in red solo cups. It can get fairly busy here on the weekends so if you're planning to sing, it's best to get there earlier. The new owners have really done the place right - more days open, better sound system, and lots of TVs. Great decorations during Christmas as well (think Valley View Farms). Oh, and the KJs are awesome! I will say that Saturdays can get real crowded and I heard that parking in the neighborhood is difficult (many people will take transportation to get here). What a great dive bar. From what I understand the place is under new ownership. Very LGBTQ+ friendly. It seems like the original decor from a 90 year old bar but it is very clean. I was pleasantly surprised from the throw back vibes but not afraid to have a mixed drink :) They recently upgraded their soundsystem to a Danley Sound Labs soundsytem.. the same speakers that Epcot uses for the World Showcase show. We came in when there were only a few people but the placed packed out quickly with a great crowd! Only thing was that I did observe an interaction that was not comfortable. An african-american young man attempted to introduce himself to the bartender. He said to her, "ma'am I didn't catch your name." With her back turned to him she responded, "I didn't give it to you." He politely introduced himself. She stated her name rather abruptly without turning around to acknowledge him and walked away. I didn't observed this behavior with any other patrons. I was in town for work and decided to get the gang together for a karaoke night. Tried the signature Jell-O shots and drunken gummy bears, they were very tasty and strong. I had a few beers and although it was busy I was served within a reasonable time. The bar is small and I wouldn't recommend it for large groups (10+). It was pretty packed which added to the atmosphere when the karaoke started rocking. I love the energy of the bar. It was so fun when everyone in the bar started singing along. The karaoke system is really easy. Just write the name of the song and the artist and hand it to the friendly staff. No books or other materials to mess with. Finally, I suggest bringing cash. It's just easier as the credit card machine is old and slow. read more

I have been to this bar numerous times when visiting Baltimore. Its really a great spot for Karaoke and gets super packed on the weekends. The drinks they pour here are enormous and come in 12 oz solo cups. WE had two mixed drinks and a beer for 12 bucks, its no wonder this place is a big hit. So I originally did email the bar requesting songs, not really thinking I would ever get a response (let's be real, the latest updates on alotta business sites could be decades ago) but I said, why not!? Well I DID get a response which was awesome, however, at the time they were working on my requests....due to liscensing issues...makes sense. I just moved to Canton, Baltimore and happened to be walking distance to Walts. The very first time my friends and I visited Walt's, we fell in love with the place. Its a warm comfortable clean homey place. The barstaff and patrons are friendly and the drinks are priced great. Karaoke starts at 9pm daily until 1am--a lot of people come for this attraction. There's also free wi-fi. We ordered a grey goose shot, makers mark on the rocks, and an amaretto sour and the bill came out to $13...yes the total bill was $13!! Bottled beer usually runs about $2-3 a piece and they have jello and specialty shooters that frun from $1-3 depending on day and time. With the economy the way that it is, the drink prices are very attractive and relevant. Pizzas and pretzels are tasty but if the bar is busy, your bartender will probably not be able to get to making you one since other than friday and saturday, there is usually just one bartender. The bar and Karaoke is very busy after 11pm on Fri and Sat, so if you want to sing come early or on the off nights. They have TV's which are usually playing sports channels and on Sundays you can watch Sunday NFL ticket. You get quite a mixed bunch of people visiting Walt's. You never know who might be there as it seems that the bar has a far reaching reputation in Baltimore. You will find a wide spectrum of ages, professions and mixed bunch of ethnicity. Of course, the people who live close to Walt's tend to visit more often so you will see more Canton natives than others. Most of the customers are friendly and I've met quite a few new friends at Walts. The bar staff are long tenured. Most of the bartenders have been with Walt's many years which seems to be a good sign to me. Great dive with a fun vibe! Came on a Saturday night and it was PACKED. The crowd was super friendly and it was a blast. Jell-O shots in a bar is not something I see often but is always great. Two drink minimum for people to sing karaoke is a solid policy that I support. Minus two stars for the karaoke host. Over the course of the night we saw MULTIPLE people go up to sing more than once while we waited and never had our name called. A must-do experience in Baltimore! Been to a lot of bars in many towns and Walt's is one place I can walk in and not feel judged one bit. No inkling of pretentiousness. The beer is always well priced, and I know that I can go in there on any given weekend and run into friends. Every time i'm in the area, usually after an event at "The Creative Alliance", I make my way to Walt's. I love this place. EVERYone is here to have fun. It's a very upbeat, raucous crowd. I love to sing anyway, so coming here is, for me, a real high anyway. There are people of all abilities singing, and there's no sense of judgement, or ridicule...just go for it. Everyone applauds, and gives you props. It's always PACKED...you have to literally squeeze your way through to the microphone when they call you...so you get to meet everyone on the way. My coworkers have been talking about this place where you could go for karaoke in Baltimore, and it was finally time to go and check it out. This place is TINY!!! One long bar, and a bit of space infront of it and at the end of the room a small TV screen for the karaoke and the restrooms. That's about it. Get here early with songs in mind (who needs a book!?), get your 2 (required) drinks and get singing! This place is tiny but the (quite young) crowd is fun and welcoming. People tend to come here in groups so make sure if you want a table you're here before the crowd. As far as issues concerning racism or homophobia; I'm Indian and haven't experienced anything uncomfortable or questionable... and I've been here at least 5 times, same with my friends. Heard about this place from Barcocina and let us know this was the best karaoke spot in Baltimore. WORST customer service from the moment when we walked in. Not to say it but we were not of Caucasian descent and she was the least hospitable. You must pay a 2 drink minimum in order to sing karaoke - totally not a problem - but when asked for clarification, the bartender was so rude!!! Mic volume sucked. I still love this place, as I've been here from New York about five or six times now, but it has definitely slipped since the last time I was there. Drinks are still very reasonable, the atmosphere is very good, but the person they had running the karaoke last time I was there (6/4/16) just wasn't any good. The sound stunk, the rotation of singers was a little out of whack, and it just seemed to be lacking some of the fun I once experienced. Waltz Inn-Stumble out is the mantra There is really nothing to distinguish Waltz Inn from 100 Baltimore bars but Karaoke. It's not your "I almost won star search" talent show style karaoke it's more drunken singing. As it should be. Otherwise a little cheaper than places on the square. It's mostly locals and thereby less touristy than some. With that comes good and bad. Not a huge fan of Karaoke, but like going to Walt's Inn before 9 to sit with all the regulars drinking bud bottles (and for the ladies, bud light out of a wine glass--classy). Great customer service and drink specials and only $6.50 for Marlboro's out of the machine (classy is a theme at Walt's). The only downside- tends to become inundated with drunk canton yuppies after Karaoke starts, which is usually when I take my cue and leave. read more

Good karaoke bar! If you aren't from the East coast, the skinny bars will take some getting used to...it is kind of like going to a bar that is built in a trailor. Way thin and deep, with the restrooms in the way back. Walt's is on a corner, but that still doesn't provide a lot of breathing room. Folks get into karaoke pretty well, and w had a good time. Drinks were reasonably priced and we parked somewhere on Boston. Not sure if light rail or metro gets down this way (will need to research). read more

If jello shots aren't your thing order a punch bucket and split it with your friends or a karaoke stranger. Your bound to come out of there having a great time with plenty of laughs and maybe even a few new friends. I like this place and tried to have my birthday party here, but it just gets so packed on the weekends that it's extremely hard to hang out with your friends and/or sing karaoke, so that's not optimal. Also, when the bar is totally crowded it can be very hard to hear the singers, which again sort of defeats the purpose. If however you can make it in here during an off night (not Friday or Saturday), it can be very charming and fun, plus they have a great song book. read more

We came in for karaoke as a group and everyone put in their requests. We found it odd that everyone in our group was going but one and though we'd asked where this person was in the order they kept putting songs ahead of them. Finally I confronted them and they said they didn't like the song so they weren't playing it. We spent more than $100 between us at a dive bar just waiting on this one song which they continued to say was coming up. Dive but in a good way. Fun atmosphere, mixed age group and just an all around good time. Craft beer selection. Beers are a lil pricey. Bouncers present to keep the rif-raf away. The staff at Walt's Inn are incredible. The bartender and manager delivered some of the best customer service that I've ever received from a restaurant/bar. Truly attentive, caring, and thoughtful. Came here last Saturday for my birthday and it was an absolute blast!! I made a reservation for 10 about a week in advance and ended up changing it to 15 people the day before when they called to confirm. We had the large room which was 40$ an hour and at hour 3 we were toast lol. Everyone of my friends was extremely pleased with the experience and the staff was incredibly helpful. Cheap beer and karaoke every night! Beware of the shot specials, they can be scary (waltz inn, stumble out). One bartender most nights and they can get pretty overwhelmed on a busy night with taking drink orders and running the karaoke machine which can make things slow going. It use to be more of a dive bar but has gained quite a bit of popularity as a end of the night stop. Still a great bar with good prices and hilarious people watching. read more

The best place in town for karaoke! It's your typical Canton rowhome size place though and with it being so awesome it gets super packed! But people are very friendly when you are scooting your way through. Only having one bathroom for the ladies and one for the guys can be tough, but it usually isn't a long wait. Drinks are flowing and cheap. And definitely love the $1 jello shots (Hummer's has these too!) I love singing karaoke here too! Show up early to get your songs in because they always have too many requests to get 'em all in before they close for the night.
